Pros: Perfect. Right in the middle of the NiN tour. The hotel is old, but well maintained. The restaurant was excellent! The staff was super friendly. I got extensive emails telling me how to catch the bus to continue the NiN on the next day. And the views!! Seriously the best in the world!
Pros: The Stalheim was amazing! It felt genuine and historic. I imagine it is just how it has always been. The grounds were beautiful with many nearby hikes. The view was incredible and I felt so at home in the guest lounge. There were multiple fireplaces. The staff was very kind and helpful. There is a buffet that has so many nicely prepared items. My room was the cutest room I've ever stayed in in my life. Straight out of another era. I enjoyed the big antique bathtub.
Cons: At some times the hotel and restaurant became very crowded with tourists that arrived on a bus. I found some of them rude at the buffet. This was not the hotel's fault. Other times, it felt like there were only a few guests. I preferred those times.
Pros: The hotel is located on the top of a hill with an excellent view of the valley. The breakfast is good. The hot menu of the buffet has shifted too much towards oriental food but not original.
Pros: The view!
Cons: No options to eat except at the hotel's restaurant. Incredibly expensive!
Pros: Gorgeous views of course, some hiking options nearby, and it's a way to break the NiN trip in two days if you don't want to do it all in one long day. Rooms are old, but clean and quaint. Our large window offered very good view of the valley below. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Cons: Large tourist groups can get loud and ruin the peace. We thought the buffet was okay (both dinner and breakfast). It wasn't necessarily a problem with quality, it just want to our taste. Everything seemed extra salty.
Cons: Boiling hot, inadequate ventilation, dated rooms, no warm welcome, courtesy or care from reception staff.
Pros: Only the fantastic location
Cons: It was at the lowest level of a hotel these days. Not even a ventilator on an exceptional hot day.so we left after one night.
Pros: We travelled to a lot of places in a lot of different countries but we agreed that this was one of the best if not the best location for a hotel ever. The breathtaking view right from the room window towards the valley was worth just all the money. And then the lobby with all the antiques, the old cottage museum outside, the dinner bufet, the excelet service and great staff. The room was great, loved the design; bathroom was nice and even had floor heating, we just discovered that during last day... :)
Pros: Very very nice view. We can feel nature (Some hiking course they can offer (nice waterfall)). Bus stop in front of hotel.
Cons: For public transportation user, they can inform "hot to get hotel" more. For instance, only public transportation to get hotel is bus, but they have only some per day. So if we don't know this, we can loose time easily (we didn't know it, and waited 3.5hours at Voss station). Also to go to Flaam or Gudvangen, not so many buses. * If we know it, it will not be the problem.
Pros: Hotel is located on the top of the mountain. There are many trail around the hotel.
Cons: This hotel is little bit old.
Pros: Location. Amazing view ! The hotel was fine. Clean room. Dated decoration but that was charming.
Cons: Food was not good. Neither breakfast nor diner. We tried the menu the first night and the cod with risotto was very salty. The second night we had the buffet and frankly NOTHING was even acceptable ! And to add insult to injury it was expensive . So stay away from the restaurant
Pros: View is amazing
Cons: Doesn't look like its been refurbished since the 60's

Pros: The location was wonderful. Also the breakfast was excellent.
Pros: I arrived at the Flam Train station in the evening time when buses were not running. All of the taxi services refused to pick me up. When I called the Gudvangen Fjordtell, Olaf was quick to offer assistance. He sent one of the hotel workers to come pick me up from the train station, free of charge. The entire staff is very generous and accommodating. Also - the hotel is conveniently located at the Gudvangen port and is surrounded by beautiful landscape! I would highly recommend anyone visiting the Flam/Gudvangen area to stay at this hotel!!!
Pros: We loved our stay at the apartment. The rooms were neat and well equipped. The breakfast is basic. We loved our stay and the kids enjoyed too.we wished we stayed there for a longer time .
Pros: After all the tourists leave in that evening, you get place top yourself
Cons: No privacy. The accommodation is open for the general public to walk around and even peer into your room. We even had people sitting outside our room on the chairs!
Pros: Amazing location
Cons: Nothing to dislike
Pros: Excellent location ,staff was ok.
Cons: B ‘ fast had very limited choices. Almost nothing for vegetarians
Pros: Far prefer gudvangen to other areas like Flam or Voss. Great location for kayaking, hiking or to do the main fjord four. This is the only hotel there and very small town. Tons of tour groups come through in the morning and afternoon but it is nice and quiet in the evenings. The staff was very accommodating and helpful and all spoke great English. Had a fire going in the dining hall and the euro cup on for everyone to watch. The room itself was superb. Love the Viking decor and grass covered roof.
Cons: Wifi did not work Food available later in the evening (when my boat arrived) was very limited Note that it is light most of the day in Norway in the summer and the window doesn't have a covering
Pros: We stayed in one of the apartments which were clean and comfortable, with a lovely terrace. Location is fantastic to go kayaking on the fjord and to the viking village, and gets very peaceful in the evening. Hotel staff were very helpful. Good transport links.
Cons: Breakfast in general was disappointing - limited choice, tables squashed close together and staff not as friendly as hotel staff.
Pros: Lovely fjord. We did half a day kayaking here, it was wonderful.
Cons: We were in a self catering apt. The three big problems were: - Curtains were not worth having up. They kept out no light at all. Morning comes early in Norway and so I woke up early too. - Inside noise. Terrible noise damping in the building we could hear every footstep the people upstairs took, every door opening or closing. - External noise. The apt was opposite a small hotel. As guests came and left the hotel in the evening / early in the morning we heard every word of their conversations like they were in our room. Bonus - Breakfast was average at best.
Pros: Perfect location for one night so we could take a day-long kayaking trip. It was an especially nice location after the ferries stopped running for the day.
Cons: It was a warm evening and it was very difficult to ventilate the room.
Pros: In the heart of the UNESCO world heritage tasty breakfast
Cons: no table inside the appartement to eat on, only a outdoor wooden table; pray the weather be fine! otherwise, great under the sun!
Pros: This hotel is set in a sublime location. The journey to and from the hotel, whether it be by boat or bus, is awesome. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The fish café chef and the waitress were a delight, as were the meals prepared for us (they were attempting to close for the day but remained open so that we could have dinner there).
Cons: Norway is an expensive place to visit and we knew the accommodation would be basic (standard room) and the cost high, especially given it was mid-summer. The whole establishment looks to be in need of some serious refurbishment and an injection of funds to do it.
Set in the Nærøy Valley, this camping is surrounded by high mountains with a view of the Kjelfossen Waterfall. It offers an on-site kiosk and cottages with a patio and kitchen facilities. Cooking hobs, a fridge and coffee machine are standard at Gudvangen Camping. Some have a private bathroom, while others have access to shared facilities. Mini golf and a children’s playground are available at Gudvangen. Flåmsbana railway line is 20 km away, while the ferry terminal in the UNESCO-listed Nærøy Fjord is just 800 metres from the cottages. The town of Voss is within a 45-minute drive.
Pros: Over night stay. Cabin was clean and comfortable. The trumble bed was real nice. Plenty of eletric outlets. Price was good.
Cons: Had to pay for shower
Pros: The views out the front door were amazing. The staff was extremely welcoming and we had a great stay and a short drive to Flåm. If you travel to Norway, I recommend the campground experience.
Pros: The view, and the cabin were lovely
Cons: Having to hire bed sheets at this price seemed strange!
Pros: lovely cottage and beautiful nature
Cons: it is a long walk. very narrow sidewalk and lots of stones. better go with cars or backpack. not friendly to suitcase with wheels.
Pros: Breathtaking location! Charming, clean, and simple. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Cons: Nothing- perfect for folks who appreciate nature and the simple things in life.
Pros: Very close to gudvangen, good value for money, stunning location.
Cons: Sometimes there was a wait for the shower and toilet but it's not an issue, just something to be aware of. Similarly there's no running water in the cabins, also not a problem just be aware you need to wash up in a central area if you wish to cook in your cabin.
Pros: Great cabin for the five of us. Lovely veranda with a nice view. Beds comfortable, although the mattresses on the upper floor were quite thin which wasn’t a problem because we weren’t 6 so we put the mattresses one above the other. We only stayed one night and bed linen/towels/cleaning were paid per stay so it was rather expensive - it just fit better into our travel plans. We were allowed to leave our packed car on the grounds after check-out, which was great because we took the ferry in the late afternoon. We would have loved to stay longer.
Pros: Very cute little cabin with amazing surroundings.
Cons: The wifi was so bad, it didn’t even reach the cabin. Also, for 230 euros for 2 nights I didn’t expect I needed to clean it myself.
Pros: The view. One of the best places to wake up and have a coffee and just enjoy what you see!
Pros: Close to motorway, friendly owners, clean comfortable large rooms ,food excellent.
Pros: - great location in the moutains - cabin was cosy
Cons: - the kitchen could have more mugs for breakfast
Pros: We were staying 6 nights from 28 july in cottage (6 pers.) nr.24 and the view from the veranda was amazing with sunny, cloudy and misty weather. The cottage contains a sauna and bath. We also used the washing machine (2,5 week trip through Scandinavia). The people are very friendly and helpfull! Beautifull waterfalls in a 15 min. walk nearby. The trips to Flam, Viksoyri and surroundings, Bakka and the SogneFjord were very nice and the walk to Nali was also super!
Pros: The cabin was very clean, beds were comfortable, location was perfect! Bjorn was super sweet and helpful, showed us the best places/hiking trails around the area!
Cons: Wish the shower curtain was longer so the water doesn't go everywhere, but other than that it was perfect!
Cons: Old interior. Only few kitchen utensils. Not very clean.
Pros: Location, location. Outstanding views. Only 30 min from Flåm and Voss. Peaceful and beautiful. Spacious clean cabin, self contained with all facilities and chattels. Friendly informative owner. We arrived at least an hour before check in and Andries opened the cabin for us. If you want some peace and quiet then this is the place for you.
Cons: I liked everything
Pros: Amazing!! The view, the place, and the cabin were perfect. 10 days ran very fast. We liked everything. I recommend this place !!
Pros: , well equipped Beautiful view, Rural atmosphere, Cosy
Cons: No wifi and no electric kettle, not enough lights
Pros: very good very nice owner very good view
Pros: Our cabin had a beautiful view. This location really offered us the best of what the region had to offer. Plus the cabin had many comforts like sauna and Jacuzzi tub. Kids loved the swings!
Cons: The cabin lacked kitchen towels and dish soap. Other than that it had everything we could have needed.
Pros: Loved everything else about this place. Wonderful views, amazing owner, perfect layout.
Cons: Just the shower curtain was short and no matter how you directed the shower head you'll always have water leaking into the bathroom space.
