easy access to town and interesting areas of brecon the member of staff handling breakfast appeared to be alone and therefore the meal was slow with food running out several times with quite a wait for replenishment
very friendly staff, gorgeous food and will be returning NA
Hotel was very well located. Food was very good and the general ambience of the public areas - bar and restaurant - was similarly good. I would certainly stay again, although might not go for a superior room, as it did not feel overly superior! Tatty coathangers in the wardrobe, not one of which was suitable to hang trousers
The garden was pleasant and well cared for, a definite asset The food was poorly prepared and the menus exaggerated the meals
the bar area was very nice and evening staff were friendly. the bathroom wasn't up to a standard of cleanliness
Great ambiance and atmosphere, old world charm with modern amenities, a little quirky with slightly sloping floors but that added to the charm of the place. Our room was right beside a cupboard with some kind of noisy machinery inside that you could hear from our room, but despite our fears it didn't keep us awake.
The view from the room windows was absolutely great. The ambience of the room was pretty good too (when the heating WAS working! We had no heating in the room on the mornng or our stay, with -11 outside it was a bit nippy!
It was very expensive for all that was available.
Lovely food from the bar, great breakfast and lovely views from our room. Bed was hard and uncomfortable.
The hotel was in a central location of the town with outstanding views of the Brecon Beacons
the room size was excellent though would've benefited from a more thorough clean. the food at the hotel was of a good quality and very good value for money. on a whole a very relaxed atmosphere with in the hotel with a wide range of cultures and nationalalitys. the only fault would be there is no hotel parking though there are several car parks within an easy reach of the hotel.
This Hotel needs checking or taken off your books
It's central location.
Relaxed atmosphere No adjacent parking
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, but respected our privacy. They got the balance just right. Nothing.
Nice old building kept in a good and clean condition. Friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. With a good location in the centre of Brecon.
we have stayed at the wellington twice this year and enjoyed both stays the staff and really friendly and it is very chilled out and relaxing we have no complaints the hotel is in the ideal location
Poor atmosphere, poor attitude, not welcoming.
The staff were polite and helpful; the food was very good and not too expensive; the rrom was warm and perfect for what I needed. The room was quite basic, no TV remote and the TV picture was very poor; these are very minor issues and overall it was fine.
The full english breakfast was exellent. The whole feel to the place was nice and laid back, The room was not cleaned or visted by a maid the whole time we where tthere, which was two nights. Also the rooms are a bit close together.
The atmosphere of staying in a luxurious private house, with gourmet food to match and unobtrusive but attentive staff.
Equisite feel of a country house
Loved the relxed country house style, like staying in someone else's home. A very peaceful stay. Staff welcoming and friendly. Would have preferred the dinner menu to have changed more frequently. The quality of food was good but the lack of variety may be a problem for stays of more than a few days.
From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and at home. Without exception the staff were delightful, it is difficult to fault it for the price. Also for the price the food was very good indeed. All in all very comfortable and relaxing. The car park which is outside the entrance to the Hotel was a sea of muddy water which made an awful mess on the inside of our car on departure. For a hotel of this standard it should be a solid surface. It would also benefit from some lighting. The location map on the agencies website is incorrect, it shows Llangoed hall on the A470 South of Brecon just before the Village of Lebanus.
unobtrusive style and comfort- the pictures- the setting and the food
The seting of the Hall was wonderful and the food was excellent. We did find the hotel quite warm but do understand the need to keep temperature at a certain level
the polite and really helpful staff and size of the bedrooms and beutiful set out gardens
I felt comfortable and welcomed. The breakfast was amazing...white linens and the food was prepared expertly and served by nice people. Dinners were excellent and well priced. The room was basic, but clean. I think the staff was wonderful. Overall I liked it very much, just as I imagined a pub/hotel in Wales might be. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Loved the room nber 4. Step down into bathroom even at 5ft 2 I bumped my head.
the room was lovely, spacious, clean and very comfortable
The rooms were sleek, had all the expected comforts, the lobby was welcoming, and the staff was very friendly.
Great breakfast, friendly staff, big room, excellent decorative order, newly furnished None
Lovley large room separate from the main hotel and the busy road. Lovely garden to look out onto from the restaurant. A few things didn't work that well - the TV, the lights in the bathroom and the facilities in the bathroom - small basin, nowhere to put your things.
The food was good as were the rooms. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. After a long day in the mountains and moors it was disappointing that food could not be served in the rooms.
Friendly, good service, comfortable, good value, good 'Welsh' breakfast (i.e. no baked beans because they don't grow them in Wales . . .) Bit close to the A40. Main hotel sign should be black-on-cream not vice versa (looks like a blackboard).
the room was huge. the shower was very hot and I couldn't get it any colder
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant meal was very good and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the bar afterwards. Our room was very comfortable and the parking was close to the accommodation.
Beautiful surroundings and very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent restaurant which you should not miss!
The hotel was very clean and most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the impression of a family-run business and things ran very smoothly. There was a good choice of meals in the restaurant and the food was good and not really expensive. There was a wonderful choice of breakfasts included in the price. I was disappointed that there was not a hair dryer in the guestroom but this may have been due to previous bad experiences on the part of the hotel. Both myself and my husband thought that the room was a bit on the expensive side for a quiet country town like Abergavenny. However, this may in part be explained by the poor rate of exchange between the pound and American dollar.
Clean and freshly painted, lots of toiletries in bathroom, comfy bed. Breakfasts are fantastic. Hosts very knowledgable about area and always helpful and willing to give advice. Hosts work hard to ensure a peaceful stay for everyone. Slow to top up orange juice at breakfast, floor boards in room above were creaky, didnt help having 2 gorillas bounding about which is not Coach House fault. Minor, very minor fault picking really.
Good personal service and standard of rooms excellent. Easy to find and located within easy walking distance of the town centre. Parking limited.
Friendly atmosfere.Clean.Wonderful garden. No
Very clean, stylish and comfortable, good food.
Lovely place to stay, nicely decorated very relaxing. Good choice of breakfast, very pleasant time will be going back again.
The staff was helpful, the room was clean & homely.. Food was also brilliant.. Highly recommended
This is honestly one of the best experiences we have had staying at any hotel. The room was very well furnished and extremely clean. The shower was fantastic, and the food (prepared by the innkeeper's chef husband) was delicious. Super friendly staff! Nothing really. A bit hard to find, but our sat-nav led us right to it when we entered the postal code.
The staff had an excellent balance between friendliness and politeness. Loved the menu and wished we were staying longer so we could try more things. The bed was just a little too soft for us - but that's a very personal preference.
It was very clean and comfortable and the food was excellent in both choice and presentation nothing
Breakfast, lovely pretty hotel Wifi in room was not working, no aircon
Cleanliness, food & bar excellent Bed built at same time as hotel central heating system needs bleeding, sound of dripping all night
Excellent shower Good food Friendly staff Bit too hot - especially at night and in breakfast room.
Spacious room Minor problems in bathroom: toilet seat wouldn't stay up, I don't like shower curtains over baths.
It was just a totall awful experience- It was dirty, my husband and I rolled to the center on a full mattrees- It was filthy. They actually had stapled the fabric on the chair together and it had pulled apart- you felt the springs in the chair and the mattress- oh my gosh this was the worst hotel we have stayed in in years- I would not ever suggest sending anyone here again! Just terrible!!!
Staff offered cooked breakfast well before official start time.
Lovely Hotel, full of character, very comfortable, great food, excellent staff. No negative comments
We really enjoyed our stay at The Bear hotel. The room was lovely with one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in and the food was out of this world. We would definately go back to Crickhowell. Heating was not put on in our room when we had been out for the day, but we soon sorted that out
Glanryney is simply charming.
Quiet, relaxing, beautiful surroundings, comfortable bedrooms, excellent breakfast, pleasant staff.
Go to this hotel if you want to stay in a typical ' country house' . Think 'Homes and Gardens' and you have it about right. It is a large Georgian House in a lovely setting with pleasant gardens and the rooms are comfortable. The whole house is filled with antiques and there are large sitting rooms and an honesty bar so you won't be stuck in one room. We've been back twice.
A nice welcome and hassle free stay No evening meals , but the staff gave us directions to a nice place near by
Gorgous house and gardens, good level of information on local attractions and walks, selection of books appreciated due to poor weather at the time. Fine selection of fruit, cerials, jiuces and yoghurt if a full engligh breakfast is not to your taste. Tv reception very poor as aerial connector damaged but as we are not fond of tv we were glad to find the radio worked for Radio 4.
beautiful country house, quiet and peaceful location, individual character, good service, walking in brecon beacons, lovely pub nearby. The bed was very comfortable. Romantic place to stay. My partner prefers a more contemporary accomodation but I loved its charm and character with chairs by the fire and old books to flick through, and free standing bath to soak in
Relaxing Swimming pool ou of use at time of stay
Staff were very friendly, food was good. Hot water was too hot in the taps
all the leisure facilitys
Staff were friendly and helpful.Food was locally sourced and very good.Room was comfortable with great view.
The room was excellent and view superb. Only stayed 1 night would like to have stayed longer. Meal on the evening could have been a hotter but food was enjoyable.
Staff friendly and accommodating. One got the feeling they enjoyed their job. We were in room 5 at far end of hotel. It took at least 5 minutes for hot water to reach shower or wash basin and it only trickled through.
there was nothing to dislike. The setting, the ameneties, the service...all good
A warm and 'full of character' hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room was comfortable and a decent size and the food was excellent. A good choice of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Fantastic views as well.
I had a very spacious room. The bed was very comfortable.
Location and view
i loved the location the views were great the food was fantastic the staff wre very helpfull. nothing
Stayed in Rm 2 and the view from the balcony was great. A bit of river on the left and a mountain side right in front. The wine list was good. Fire place in the bar was nice. The shower was not great. Hot and cold control was a bit difficult to control. The food was excellent but not cheap. Afternoon tea was 12£ but not great. Buffet style with no table service.
This is one of the best Hotels I have ever stayed in .Great staff great food great accomadation great setting .Top Class owner.Well done. No everything was perfect
A fabulous place to stay in the countryside with beautiful grounds and a walk by the river. Lovely rooms to relax in and most helpful staff.
The huge log fires were very welcoming. There is a country house feel about the hotel. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming Can't think of anything I did not like. Not a thing.
Being able to relax - food was excellent Spoke to a member of staff regarding a minor complaint/observation which I felt was not taken on board.
The peacefulness of surroundings and the planting added to the already luxurious presentation and decoration within the hotel. We did not have a kettle on arrival in our room. Kettle duly replaced with a very dirty lead and comments as to they did not know where the original kettle had gone. I am disabled and had to walk upstairs to get to our room. Positively my luggage was taken to the room.
Staff were exceptionally friendly and effiicient.Food was excellent. We were travelling with a small baby and everyone went out of their way to help us and make us feel at ease. Susan and James the proprietors were just first rate.
The friendly and very helpful service. There was nothing to dislike.
A friendly hotel with pleasant and helpful staff. Nice swimming pool.Excellent breakfasts. Our room - in the pool house was very small
the location was good, very close to everything in Hay. The breakfast was good. They let me stay in the car park even after I had booked out at 10.30am Trying to park the car was difficult, the alley to the car park was so narrow. There was no one there when I arrived to check in at 12.30pm. My room wasn't ready. The TV in my room didn't work at all. There was no one at reception again when I came back at 9pm, no one until 8am the next morning so I couldn't report the TV not working. Noise from the traffic on the main road through town vibrated the room. The bed was very saggy and lumpy. There was carpet in the bathroom and round the toilet which isn't good for smells.
The very nice and substancial breakfast. The use of the pool and sauna.Friendly Service. No N/A
Excellent breakfast, nice pool, good for walking into Hay, free car-park, comfortable bed, nice towels. No bedside tables/lights, poor room lighting, no pool towels (had to use bath towels), a little basic.
It was close to the bookshops (which was the point of the visit to Hay on Wye).
Position. Friendliness and helpfulness of owners.
The room was cozy (actually smelled good!), location was perfect for exploring Hay-on-Wye, and breakfast was superb.
Excellent breakfasts, very friendly staff.
The staff did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay ,and the breakfast was very good indeed .We were meeting friends .who were more impressed with their room So I would reccommend the seven stars but not our particular room . Our room was clean and comfortable .But it was attached to the pool area in what seemed to be an insulated shed. The internal decor was drab and unpleasant .In addition the bathroom had no ventilation or an extractor fan .But on the plus side I could just flop into the pool through a sliding door .So on balance ok
the swimming facility
