Overview Reviews
Located in Taranto, Relais Histò San Pietro sul Mar Piccolo is in a rural location, within a 15-minute drive of New Cathedral and Castello Conti D'Ayala Valva. Featured amenities include a business center, express check-in, and express check-out. This hotel has 3 meeting rooms available for events. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: The setting of the hotel is beautiful - fruit trees everywhere. You can pick your own figs off the trees. The pool area is stunning though the pool is smaller than we had expected. The hotel and grounds are spotless and the breakfast is fantastic with lots of choice. We didn't experience the spa but they did show us round and it was really top class.
Cons: The major setback is the location which is awful. It is on the outskirts of Taranto and as we got near we were really worried as it really feels like a tip. Rubbish everywhere and industrial units on the landscape and an ugly sprawling city down below but in the last few minutes it began to feel a little more rural. Turn down the long drive however and you could be anywhere. You can't see any of that from the hotel. It was hard to shake those first impressions of where we were however and for that reason I wouldn't go back despite the hotel and its grounds being really lovely. The meals were very expensive and only mediocre so we didn't eat there after the first day. There is a lovely little see just near but again there was loads of rubbish everywhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The site alone is great. I love the historic buildings surrounded by olive trees. A perfect place to relax. The restaurant is excellent. Perfect location to spoil yourself and find peace.
Cons: If someone wants or needs cool rooms in the heat of summer one should tell the reception along with the booking. Some of the rooms have such a high ceiling, that the air condition does not manage to cool the room down sufficiently.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The territory and the interiors are amazing - very authentic and particular. Location is super quiet. Staff is helpful - we had a problem with the room on the arrival day, next day they provided us with 2 separate rooms which was highly appreciated. Service near the pool is amazing, special thanks to Ernesto - a guy with endless positive charisma! Food for breakfast and for dinner was tasty. Reactions of the staff were quick. Rooms were quiet and relaxing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: the structure is amazing and very well kept the food really amazing the spa is great but should be free
Cons: the furniture in the rooms not up to the standard of the rest
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This historic property was fabulous. Our room was very spacious and cool with a superb biiig bed. The bathroom was beautiful and offered a bath with shower over, not just a shower stall. The pool was superb and we didn't use the spa but the pool cafe staff were brilliant and looked after us handsomely. I liked it all! Not cheap and off the beaten track but worth every penny.
Cons: There was only one small hiccough and my own fault really. I ordered a tomahawk steak to share with my wife at dinner. It arrived more bone than meat, still on the bone and with no sharp knife to prepare it. By the time we got it off the bone it had cooled to inedible. They took it off the bill without question but a romanic dinner was spoiled. Rule #1 in Italy. Stick to the pasta and fish but avoid the meat.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Beautiful piece of property.
Cons: Rooms echoed. The lady above me walk around in heels all night keeping me up. No one at the desk to check me out when I left and all the lights were off in the morning when I was trying to leave the property.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely helpful staff who made the hotel luxury and restful. The staff even arranged payment of my parking ticket I received in a local town. Lovely buildings with style.
Cons: Nothing. It was great.

3
7.9 Good (1,145 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Mercure Delfino Taranto is located on the city's waterfront, and is easy to reach from the main transport arteries and the two airports (Bari and Brindisi). Fully renovated in 2007, the hotel offers spacious communal areas, stylish rooms with all mod cons (Wi-Fi) and a restaurant with a wonderful view over the gulf, serving traditional Italian dishes and regional specialties. The state-of-the-art congress center has 6 rooms that can accommodate 10-300 people. Outdoor swimming pool.

Pros: M.Vincenzo and M. Fabio in the reception are really very kind and extremely helpful. We have a very nice sea view room but unfortunately the closest beach is 6 kms away. The equipments of the hotel such as elevators, televisions, and toilets are very old. The breakfast has less variety of heathy food than all the other Mercure hotels.
6.7 Good
Pros: Sea view from balcony
Cons: Location and scruffy streets
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well located, very clean and efficient and cordial staff attention. Very good restaurant.
Cons: It seems to be a fairly old place that may take benefit from some renovation. Restaurant opening hours are limited to rest of the city’s schedules that are relatively short; so it turns difficult to grab at least a bite out of this times.
6.7 Good
Pros: Wonderfully helpful staff and fabulous sea view from balcony
Cons: The decor was a little tired. The bar had limited opening hours. Our fab balcony had no furniture so we had to move chairs from room. The hotel is 25 minutes walk from the ancient city
7.1 Good

Cons: The bed
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and the bathroom were really cleaned. We stayed at the room 150 and it was big enough and quite.

Pros: Reception and staff were very helpful. The property is clean and tidy.
Cons: There are no lift to go upstairs to the Suite room. You have to carry the luggage in case there is no assistance from the hotel staff. The food menu is good for fish lovers as there are lot of varieties but not for Vegan or those who prefer chicken over meat. It's far away from the old town and very quiet. The dinner however small or less you take is a packaged menu, which cost around 30 Euro.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and hospitable owner. He showed us everything and gave helpful advices. The room was clean and cozy. The location is close to grocery stores, shops and restaurants. The breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend!
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The lady was nice and b&b was cheap, also breakfast was poor but nice
Cons: Firstly no one can speak english and its really far from city center and If you stay in winter time expect that you will freeze at night. Because there was one small heater but when we use that, electricity was gone everytime and the man who is a staff come our door to say “dont use that and this is family b&b(?!)” we couldnt understand (maybe he has poor english) but i think it was rude and because of that it was really cold, so my best friend got flu. So i wont recommend to anybody
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great host, nice Italian breakfast in nearby cafe
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was in a large 2nd floor flat. Genarro the host and his wife were very welcoming and it was a pleasure to be in a family home. Breakfast was at a smart large popular café and bar about 200m walk from the flat: prepaid ticket included coffee and a choice of pastry.

7.5 Good
Pros: Show that is not Barbie size.
Cons: The hotel sits right on the beach, but swimming in this area is not recommended by the city, due to water quality-this is what I waa told at the front desk.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The view from the window is really great, the staff nice. But just that: the furniture is old, the air conditioning is not working, the mosquitoes have been unable to sleep all night.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good service, i could use the parking also some hours after checkout
Cons: Poor breakfast
7.1 Good
Pros: Hotel is ok for a short stay - it has it's own private parking, located in 10 min walking distance from the very center of the city and rooms are clean. Managers are very nice and helpful.
Cons: Some parts in hotel needs renovation. Breakfast is ok, but nothing special.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location and harbour view from the room.
Cons: No restaurant, no possibility for a drink , poor breakfast
7.5 Good
Pros: It's a typical Italian town hotel. No frills but it has everything that you need. It was reasonably priced so you do get what you pay for. Beachfront....is true technically and we made it down to a very small patch of sand and had a good swim in the sea BUT it's not on a massive stretch of beach with sunloungers! Breakfast - again, the essentials were there but it was not as extensive as some of the Italian breakfasts we've been treated to on our trip. 20 mins walk to the Old town. Has it's own parking which was good (lots of places say they do but it's on street).
Cons: The air con could be better.....
9.2 Excellent
Cons: Air conditioning did not work
6.0 Good
Pros: Location. See view. Parking.
Cons: The hotel is quite old and everything is old. It's not super bad, but still.

We are surrounded by a large park, and offer two panoramic terraces with a bar, restaurant, meeting room, swimming pool, and a large parking area for cars and buses. 7.1 Good
Pros: Room was nice. And the view from my windows was very nice
Cons: It’s in the industrial area. Because of that I was afraid to go the the beach. Even beach is right there
7.9 Good
Pros: Very clean, Good size room, pool was fantastic! Food was good. Staff was generally excellent
Cons: One of the dinner waiters was Basil Fawlty reincarnate
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast buffet and Dinner were good. Staff was extremely helpful.
Cons: Terrible location near the ship docks...I didn't notice that in advance...next time I will look at it on google maps. Outside of hotel by pool area was in bad shape...broken umbrellas, chipped paint.
6.7 Good
Pros: The swimming pool is fantastic
Cons: There is the chance to access to the see, but the location is too close to the big city and the see reflects it
6.3 Good
Pros: Staff was nice
Cons: Location , although with a nice swimming pool and facing the sea, there is no access to the beach; a lot of heavy industries in the region
6.3 Good
Pros: Cleanliness, nice bathroom . Receptionist was good
Cons: Location, sea was dirty , beach ok . There was a wild fire immediately adjacent to hotel. Pool was ok but the sun beds were in need of attention as the shades were all loose. There were no umbrellas up around the pool. No decent restaurant close by. In the hotel restaurant I was served raw fish. The other food was average. Stuck to meat platters after that. We cut our 4 day stay down to 2 nights as we disliked it so much. Also we were given a room which was for smoking, it stank of smoke . The very competent receptionist changed it for us and arranged to split the bed to twins which we had asked for. I would have thought all hotel rooms in EU were non smoking or at least that I should have to ask to be in a smoking room rather than be just put in one without consultation.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff: professional and personable; helped me out with a phone charging issue. Single room comfortable; spotless. Nice Italian breakfast with great coffee, freshly made to order. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
Cons: Live music from the restaurant next door wasn't too loud initially, but got cranked up around 10pm for a couple of hours. Guess it's the holiday season and not the time for an early night. Everything at the hotel itself was fine.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: View at breakfast; the breakfast; cleanliness plus pleasantness and helpfulness of staff.
Cons: Somewhere to sit and read and see the sea and toilet facilities outside room.
6.3 Good
Pros: The size of the room
Cons: The size of the bathroom
7.5 Good
Pros: The friendliness of the staff.
Cons: Again Google is quite misleading and not very accurate on location
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was quick and easy to serve yourself. Room was very comfortable. Great location right by the sea, good view from the room and easy to walk right downtown.
Cons: Rooms next door were a bit noisy and the shower was small with weak water pressure and a bit awkward to get into. Otherwise the room was great.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Good location. 24h reception. Good price
Cons: Quite small and basic room and bed. A lot of noise during sleeping hours. First night there were construction works ongoing at 5 am in the breakfast room (next to my room). The last night there was a party untill 12 at the back of the hotel. The doors, walls and windows transfer the noise very easily. Unfortunaely I forgot my earplugs...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were treated very well. Our host was exceptionally welcoming and helpful, making us coffee upon our arrival and a great breakfast the next day. The recommendations were awesome and as such, we had an excellent stay in Taranto. The place itself was classy and we'll appointed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was great. In fact there was a 200mp apartment with private double rooms (every single room has private bathroom). The living room is used for breakfast and there is a couch where you can stay. The view is gorgeous- over the sea and the port. Only the livingroom has this view. The owner was great and he explained us a lot about the city. At the ground floor of the building (next to the corner where the entrance is) there is a nice restaurant with good food. The parking places are around the building and you have to pay for it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice room, with friendly and attentive hosts. We were offered several options for breakfast but went for the typical italian one. Very near the city centre, bars and restaurants around the place.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was by far the best accommodation we have stayed in in Puglia. It was a spacious and very clean and tidy apartment with everything provided, including a washing machine and dishwasher. Pamela was very welcoming and helpful and recommended a good local restaurant for dinner.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice combination between comfort and old fashioned building. Very hospitable staff and great location!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Photos were great -
Cons: Host was rude right after booking. My son broke a glas then so he stole our credit card from our apartment to charge it, even though we were always willing to pay We asked for a vacuum cleaner for the Glas splitters as we have 4 kids - was not possible for the host (normally a broom should be standard) Air conditioning didn’t work- 32 degrees inside We did not get a bill either We had to pay for an extra child, but didn’t get an extra Glas or an pillow from him We can not recommend the host- even the apartments looks beautiful - everything is in a bad condition and frail - door knob goes off - no water comes in the shower - linen was dirty at arrival Staff members are friendly tough
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Spacious comfortable apartment. Should have stayed longer
Cons: Nil. It was perfect
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We needed a place to stay on our way from Sicily to Puglia. We made a reservation fairly late in the day and our host Pamela was waiting for us! Apartment was absolutely adorable. We were able to do our laundry which was HUGE!! Parking was on the street and you have to buy parking ticket but we found parking right in front. Pamela was very gracious and directed us to a fabulous pizzeria Sugo e Basilico which was a few blocks away. We also found gelato along the walk back from the pizzeria “lungomare” (along the sea) which may have been the best we had, which in Italy is a huge complement!!
Cons: It is not really a negative but you are in a residential area outside the old city. For our purposes, worked out great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely Hostess. Excellent breakfast delivery.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice appartment in good location. The buliding and the terrace area was really nice. Perfect communication with the host. Good breakfast was provided at the appartment.
