The whole experience was brilliant wasn't sure what to expect but succeeded these expectations
Massive Bed, brilliant breakfast (especially the egg chef!), well priced parking (for Brighton) Not enough power sockets in the room and the shower dripped when it was turned off.
A nice hotel run by friendly and helpful staff, and in walking distance to the main shopping area. The pillows are very uncomfortable. The bed was fine.
The room was set up as single though it was booked as single i.e. only one chair, had to look for extra towels etc. Breakfast was disproportionally expensive.
Restaurant did not open until 7am for breakfast.
Staff friendly , approachable, discreet. None
Clean and comfortable Car park was tiny and had a 1/2 mile walk to/from the overflow carpark also breakfast was not included :-(
We found rooms very comfortable and staff very friendly and helpful
The hotel is very clean and of an excellent standard. It is well situated for Ipswich and the surrounding area. I stayed there for one night as I was attending a training course nearby. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for a similar purpose. The car park is very small but other parking is available about a three minute walk away
Clean, bright, modern hotel and rooms with friendly staff. Car parking. Not enough customer parking on site and you can only park off site from 5.30pm till 9.30am.
The inprovements in the rooms since I last stayed in a Novotel
The location so close to the City centre of Ipswich. Just 10 min. walk. There was no free WiFi in the room.
The lobby and bar area are newly furnished. The hotel was empty so we were always served immediately. We upgraded the room but it was still very basic and in need of a lick of paint. Decent shower though.
I have stayed at this hotel before and found the staff on both occasions to be very polite and helpful. I cannot think of anything I didn't like.
the bar closed too early.
the breakfast is excellent....
The rooms are very comfortable, but noisy due to outside traffic noise. The cooked part of the breakfast was dry and overcooked thus wasn't the money!
Very comfortable bed. The breakfast chef was very attentive - the poached eggs were perfect! Shortage of car parking space on site. Pay & display parking available over the road. Beware traffic wardens are very vigilant(especially from 8am)
The staff were very friendly, although English language proved slightly difficult. On the Front Desk Notice Board it stated: Breakfast £12 but did not state per person or per Room? Whereas the other prices were per Room
No hassle Wedding guests seemed more important than other guests. £12 for breakfast is just too epensive. Car parking arrangement was broken on first day.
We enjoyed the spa, helpful staff easy access to road system No lift in the hotel
Poor check in, kept waiting. Long walk to room. No lift. Evening meal returned as under cooked.
Breakfast buffet was very good Nothing
I think that the hotel could do with being refurbished. The Evening meal was very poor for the price.
Good position and ease for getting into Ipswich. We enjoyed having the free use of swimming pool. Evening meal was mediocre and over priced. Drinks from the bar were extremely expensive
Very clean, jenny on reception is top class and runs a good front desk.
The reception staff were particularly helpful and friendly. They made us feel very welcome. Comfortable room and quiet. Good gym. No lift for reaching first floor with heavy suitcases
The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The swimming pool was much appreciated with the jacuzzi and steam room. Breakfast was excellent - a very wide choice. We did not appreciate having to carry our bags up stairs and down very long corridors. £15 to use the internet was too expensive just to check e-mails.
Secure parking, good service. Extremely expensive bar and poor presentation of drinks
The room was comfortable, very clean and the daily servicing was excellent. Good breakfasts, and, we enjoyed the one dinner we had during our stay. It was well presented and reasonable value for money. All the staff were very friendly, helpful, efficient. Even the taxi firm used by the hotel had drivers with the same cheerful disposition - and nice clean cars as well. Not an ideal location in relation to the Town Centre if one did not have a car. But, we did not mind getting a taxi as the drivers were so good.
Very pleasent and friendly staff , very comfortable and relaxed feel to this hotel.Stayed at many but had to take time to fill review and recommendt his one.Fantastic marina setting.Would stay again.
very polite helpful staff nothing
Position and direction of bedroom. No separate bar which encourages you to leave the hotel for this facility. Noisy chambermaid in the morning. Had television on/music
Staff extremely helpful. Beautiful room. Fantastic location. Left phone charge behind which 'disappeared'. This is the only negative and bascially our fault....
The deco was fantastic, really gave you the wow factor when you came in from the street. I thought that replenishing your coffee tray during your stay was a very personal touch. I loved it all
The location A dog in room nearby barking during the night..............
This was our second stay in your beautiful hotel. As a birthday surprise for my husband two years running he was ecstatic to discover of our return. The room and view was beautiful, staff faultless with polite efficiency but also very friendly. I did speak to the lovely young man who was present at our arrival and then appeared in the restaurant about how fantastic our stay had been and thanked him. I also explained how important the stay had been, partly because I wanted it to go well for my husband's birthday but also due to the sad fact that in the last 18 months I have lost both my parents and my younger brother. Experiences like this act as a real tonic. Thank you so much! Could have done with more milk sachets.
Very friendly staff
Very friendly and efficient staff , fab location and food. Another very enjoyable stay at the Salthouse - hope we can stay for longer next time.
Suffolk Grill for breakfast, powerful hot shower, comfortable bed and nice bedlinen, nice big soft towels, cleanliness, Staff attitude, spaciousness of room and bathroom, ambience of hotel in a sympathetic conversion. Lift was out of order and we were on 3rd floor, washbasin tap that is too clever to be functional (you have had to publish instructions on how to use it etched on the mirror for heaven's sake) and very, very irritating especially when you have hair gel on your hands and you're trying to turn it on to wash them...fresh towels on the 2nd day that shed fluff like i don't know what.
The grounds were excellent. Hotel well maintained
large bedroom, comfortable bed No tea & coffee facilities in room, needed decorating, bath grubby, smelly room
Visiting the surrounding area including the Suffolk coast
Lovely location.Helpful staff Heating didnt work.Room was a little tired.
restaurant was fantastic, service top drawer, staff very friendly and prossesional, room very large and well presented no coffee making facilities in room, food expensive
Nice surroundings, good food, comfortable Slightly snooty staff. I didn't feel the welcome was warm. The bar in the evening was unmanned. It took nearly 15 minutes and 2 attempts to find someone to serve me .
The staff were very warm, professional and friendly. The room was very large and the bath and shower were separate which ears big points with me. The wireless internet actually worked very well. I was also able to print out some documents for free which is a very good service in this day and age! There is not much mobile reception in the hotel because it's and old building and the walls are thick. I did have reception at the desk in my room (22) and in the breakfast room so it worked out fine for me.
It was an impressive place to stay The bathroom was tired and would benefit some upgrading
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Very friendly and helpful staff, good food and super location - just feet from the sea. Comfortable restaurant and lounge areas. And they take dogs! There was nothing to dislike at all but the parking at the hotel itself is a bit tricky.
It was perfect totally exceeded my expectations!!!
Constant sound of waves breaking and sight of the ever-changing sea.
Service and food were superb. No
The view from restaurant was lovely and the food first class. If you arrived by car difficulty in finding parking places!
Very relaxing wiyh good food. Very poor shower in bathroom (no pressure). No lighting over bathroom mirror in bathroom for shaving/make up etc.
We last visited the before the re-furbishment, we were very impressed with the changes, our room was spotless, very warm and comfortable, lovely bathroom, good tea and coffee making facilities. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent, as were the staff in all areas, the gentleman who greeted us in reception deserves a special mention re parking of our car. as mentioned, car parking can be a problem as the public car park 50 mtrs from the hotel does not allow overnight parking. The hotel car park is very small there are open garaging spaces belonging to the hotel next door but are quite difficult to access.
The view. The room service.
It was snowing when we arrived but the hotel was lovely and warm and remained so throughout the weekend. The staff were lovely and the food excellent. We had been upgraded to a suite with sea view from an ordinary room with sea view. It didn't last long enough!
Excellent food, room and the owners most welcoming and attentative.
We were made very welcome, room was lovely, bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty and we were really impressed that the owners had sourced as much of the produce locally as they could. Would definitely stay again.
Everything was perfect.
Everything, could have a stayed a week! Nothing...it was great!
Family owned and run hotel with attention to detail. Friendly welcome and a 'customer first' attitude. Breakfasts excellent. Will stay there again. Can't think of any
Mosaic and Martin do a great job. The breakfast is awesome and made using local products. Very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Convenient location in a quiet residential area and nice rooms. Great stay, would like to come back ! Nothing really, maybe the bed was a bit short for me being 6.4 long. But minor remark really.
Absolutely very nice clean and pleasant hotel. Owners are really awesome. Definitely will be coming back
the location was excellant. The breakfast menu was good especially using local produce. A little noisy through the building..(maybe the type of guests at that time!)
Nice Clean hotel, Good location, Nice breakfast
Sunny garden space; good shower; delicious food and local produce; pleasant staff; Room opening onto passage; people breakfasting outside bedroom; no fresh air into room; noise from neighbouring bedroom
Comfortable hotel in the right place The corridor and my room were very warm, perhaps lacking suitable ventilation
Excelent breakfast, the aditional door between the bedroom and bathroom creating a lobby gave a more private atmosphere to the room. Certainly a step up from the usual bland chain hotels. Blankets not quilts.
Good clean decor and rooms warm and cosy and bed very comfortable Would be nice to see people with food intolerances catered for
Value for money, parking, good location for centre of town Needs some refurbishment
The hotel was convenient for Ipswich and the business that we completed. Breakfast
Eat a great breakfast! P/c with I-net available. Nice garden. Quirky charm.
It was convenient for our trip into the centre of Ipswich
The hotel has a very welcoming atmosphere. The room was clean and quite luxurious, the lounge and bar so comfortable to relax in, a fab breakfast is served in the morning, and the hotel sports a spectacular garden should you wish to sit outside. It is situated in easy acess of Ipswich town centre and on a main bus route.
The owners have decorated the public areas with the most fantastic collection of Film Posters. Nothing
Very comfortable room and bed. Warm welcome and excellent breakfast.
The management are obviously trying to make a good impression. The accommodation was good, the tablecloths were real (clean) linen and the breakfast was excellent. The outside area was very relaxing. An information pack in the room would have been useful.
The staff was extremely nice to us, we had free internet access, we loved it it was so pitoresque and old stylish that it gave us a really warm feeling. We loved everything
1) Shower didn't work. 2) I was put in a smoking room, unpleasant odour.
We chose it for closeness to our family in Ipswich. The bed is very comfortable and the room has everything we needed for an overnight stop. Curtains were dirty. Carpets were well used. Breakfast disappointing. Scrambled egg disgusting you could have mended the road with it. Who has potato wedges with breakfast? They were horrible too.
Convenient location. Helpful staff. The room was too warm
Comfort and Location Curtains were bust, TV didn't work vey well
Staff very polite and helpfull Cleaniness of the bathroom and tiles around bath/shower very poor
rooms too hot asked for fan facilities ie dining room not open name of hotel has changed since may now holiday inn
the hotel was near to the suffolk show groundand felt comfortable and relaxed & the stella on tap
This hotel suited us as a stopping point en route to suffolk and its beautiful beaches. it was clean comfortable and excellent breakfast
Conveniently situated; good room; friendly reception Unfortunately we had to complain about dinner; the main restaurant was in use for a Christmas party so we and a few other residents were directed to eat in a meeting room; we were advised to come early (before 7) or service could be slow. Even arriving at 6.55 service was ridiculously slow and the food disappointingly poor.
the staff at the pub adjoining were especially friendly, lovely breakfast and well managed by a very outgoing efficient boss. The noise of the traffic even with the windows shut tightly.I am amazed that they did not build the hotel where the pub is and vice versa.Having a busy road as close to the bedrooms is bound to cause sleepless nights. Sat in the pub it was hard to hear the traffic.
The rooms were comfortable & the decor up to date The rooms were much more expensive than advertised by Premier Inn. Is it really possible to get a room for £29? or £45 as the advert outside the hotel said - I paid £72 each for 4 rooms !!!!!
Near to where my relatives live so it was within walking distance to get back in the evening. NO
Excellent value for money and staff were very obliging. The hotel itself was fine, had no complaints at all. The location was not the best due to the noise of the traffic outside. Therefore I would not personally stay again due to that reason alone.
Room much fresher than last stay and another Premier Inn, well ventalated.
Staff very polite and helpful. Best premier inn we have stayed at. Breakfast was also excellent. Email confirmation said breakfast was included but we were charged again for breakfast on arrival.
Good Staff Bed hard and too high
friendly staff, clean rooms, good price, next door to an ok restuarant chain and location was suitable to our needs
The friendly staff and the welcome that we received. The fact that we were able to book in earlier than advertised which was greatly appreciated.
The relaxed atmosphere A very nice hotel.
The rooom was clean Newly refurbished room but the TV didn't work. No hot water. No staff available to provide breakffast in the morning. The evening meal was very basic with little choice.
Hotel was close to town centre. Rooms were clean. Shower worked fine, plenty of hot water. Quiet. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast (not included in price). Party of six - we were the only people staying on our part of the hotel. Nobody available to check us in. We had to call a telephone number which was showing on the door. It was cold and wet and my elderly mother-in-law was not impressed with that! When somebody arrived 10 minutes later to check us in he was not aware that we had booked (two months in advance!).
Staff friendly Breakfast not served until 09.00 so we were not able to partake! Ok for tourists but not much good for business guests!
The owner and staff were very helpfull and friendly; the owner even drove me 6 miles from Ipswich to my meeting. The room was huge and warm, T.V. 40'' SKY. Breakfast excellent, even with proper sausages, not plastic. Due to current building work, the breakfast room was a bit cold, however once finished this will not be a problem.
No good points Upon arrival the booking for a twin room had been over booked our two gentlemen were put up in two bedist type single rooms in a annexe 1 room by railway line and the other over looking main road where lights shone in all night . They were then moved to the main hotel where the twin room comprised of a double bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was of poor condition that sloped to the feet end, Upon complaint the guest returned after work to find that a table had been wedged under the feet end of the bed causing the bed to sag in the middle and be very uncomfortable. the room was close again to the main road and very noisy.
It was convenient for walking in to Ipswich shops and was in a quiet area Breakfast was OK. Beds clean and comfortable. The bathroom was grubby with the last clients toiletries left on the shower. Owners lived elsewhere so no staff in the hotel until 6pm and all night so we were worried about an emergency. Only had starter and main course but it took 2 hours to serve.
Quiet Needed to call a telephone no. to contact reception
The owners are really friendly and make you welcome without being in your face. Everything is laid back. The hotel room was comfortable and really quiet. You could park your car in a private car park knowing it was safe. The city was about 15 mins walk (dependent upon whereabouts you wanted to get to) and the train station is just around the corner. We didn't eat in the hotel but the food looked homely. There is a lovely fish and chip shop just up the road which came in handy when we returned from our concert at about 10:30 at night. Overall a really pleasant stay. Nothing
The staff were very helpful, and although there was a wedding reception taking place at the time of our stay, it finished on time and with the minimum of disruption.
The staff were friendly & efficient. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The dinner was of very good quality but the lack of choice for wines was a little surprising . Breakfast was expensive
Very friendly staff, nice relaxed environment and excelent position for travelling out. Breakfast on 2nd day was a little off putting as you could hear the kitchen staff and the language was a little colourful at times.
Very comfortable, friendly helpful staff Rather noisy at times, doors and squeaky floors
Staff were all really helpful and friendly even though the hotel was busy during the week. We stayed in a room with disabled facilities which was very well equipped and designed for ease of use. Room was cleaned and serviced efficiently and unobtrusively every morning. Breakfast times during the week could have been extended, but I appreciate this is primarily a hotel used by business people so therefore possibly not practical.
Convenient location, plenty of parking space Very small cramped room with restricted space. The decor seemed rather "tired" with stains on wallpaper and carpet and worn lino in the bathroom... Noisy room, nowhere to sit, trouser press not working.
5th time my friends and I have stayed at this Hotel would always reccomend
Nice quiet room, staying out of the way of the crowds Decor a little old fashioned but still very clean
ease of location, attentive staff, good food lack of breakfast room service; no lift;
Very comfortable & poolite, well trained staff. Tuerned on the shower, no water came from the shower head but poured out of the shower box - highly dangerous & turned off immediately. Room staff can't have checked the shower after last use of the room. Appreciate a wedding function had taken place that day but did not appreciate running the length of the corridor above my room on several occassions between 1.30am & 2.15am.
