the river view is only house roof view !!
Our single rooms were large and nicely decorated. The hotel's restaurant is gourmet quality and our meals were superb. There were two things on the website which were totally misleading. Firstly the description says that part of the hotel is housed in an 800 year old castle. There was no castle at all, so perhaps there was a mistake in the English translation. Also the website said the hotel is 200 metres from the train station and this is not true. At most it is 20 metres from the railway, in fact directly over the road from the station. Almost no English spoken at reception and their restaurant menu was only in German. Fortunately our nice waitress managed to translate some of the menu choices.
Excellent room. Helpfulness of staff to only English guests.good variety of food. Access to Moselle.
Very comfortable and very clean nice and airy room with a lovely view. Would have appreciated an English menu or a translation from the waitress when asked but I appreciate that I am in a different country and it is up to me to try to understand the language. Not all the words in the menu are in the phrase books.
Wonderful breakfast selection and a little quiet luxury in a lovely little town on the Mosel River.
Very nice, clean hotel with non-smoking restaurants and rooms.
The area is beautiful, the service was excellent, the food was delicious. The carpet in room
The staff were courteous, kind and spoke English well. The hotel was in a great location, visible from the train stop at Treis-Karden. Don't be fooled by what the lady at the front desk says, it's about an hour and a half hike to Burg Eltz from the hotel if you don't take the train to Moselkern! It was a beautiful hike though!
Location and restaurant No
It is near to Burg Eltz, which is very beautiful + a must-see. When we asked for an english menu at the hotel restaurant, the waiter seemed to be very insulted and was quite rude with us, saying things in German with a clearly nasty tone. This was despite the fact that we had been told an english menu was available at reception that morning. My partner was very upset and we almost (and should have) walked out immediately. To be fair, the young waitress on that night was very kind, however this experienced coloured our stay at the hotel.
A cosy low cost hotel. Nice location by the Mosel river but a little bit further up is where we should have stayed, at cochem. Very cold. The heating was tearned off so the room was 12 degrees when we came. There was a radiator but it did not get warmer than 18 degrees. Arrived at 9 pm and it was impossible to get something to eat at that time.
Good location, easy access, friendly staff and clean rooms Some street and gusest noise, loose floor boarding noise in corridors.
The staff were excellent, room was big with a view. Price of food and drink very good. Breakfast was a nice buffet. Overall an absolute bargain made even better by the friendly staff - they even tought us some German! Restaurant could have had a bigger choice
Our rooms where at the backside of the hotel not near the road. The town was not very special.
only german-speaking staff
The food is very nice
really friendly hotel,
good parking place, nice quiet hotel. Village was very quiet too...
View. Easy to park (though filled up later).
Very freindly staff, great food and atmosphere
The staff was so friendly and personable. The hotel was well kept, and obviously cared for.
Very friendly and personal service.
We were in Germany for 2 weeks and I would have to say this was the best place that we stayed at!
The hotel was really nice and the staff friendly. And on Easter morning they had a small Easter surprise for every quest. It made the stay more personal.
The hotel room is spacious, clean and a delightful view of the vineyards behind the town. It has a convenient bike track to Cochem and the river is very charming. Owner's Englishwas limited but her effort to understand us was appreciated.
A very quiet location, in close proximity to the Mosel river and to hikes in the vineyards. Also only 3 km from Cochem and its castle if you want more activities. Thw owners are very friendly and mak you feel welcome. Should your room be on the second floor, you will have to lug your suitcase up a narrow stairway. No elevator.
clean tidy comfortable very friendly in a wonderful setting in the mosel area of the Eifel
What a delightful find! Very frendly reception and very enjoyable stay.
The Staff was good and helped when needed. They were polite and took care. Breakfast was good. Room was not big enough and also the Toilet, bathroom were too small... Heater was not good enough to keep the room warm. There is no lift and need to carry luggage by self.
allthough they did not speak english, the owners were very friendly and helpful, and welcome guests with a glass of wine. breakfast was also very good, with a large selection of cold meats cheeses eggs cereals fresh fruit yogurts and plenty of tea or coffee
The good atmosphere and the decent breakfast.
Good clean hotel with a very friendly land-lady. There is a helicopter near the hotel and this was flying at 7am one morning.
It is a very nice hotel. Very clean, quiet, breakfast is simple but very good. Good value! There is a big noise when you use toilet. Staff can not speak English.
Friendly people, good breakfast with lots of coffee, nice garden
Nice and very helpful hotel personnel, good breakfast, quiet and clean room Please update the information in the internet about the location: it is about 50 km from the airport Hahn, not 20 km
Cosy and friendly
We liked the location and the fact that the hotel provided free roundtrip transportation from the Cochem train station. 1) We did not have advanced notification that the hotel only accepts cash and then had to spend holiday time arranging a wire transfer. And then the hotel complained about the fees on their end. 2) The internet only worked in a very limited location. 3) We stayed for 9 days and after our little bar of soap was consumed, they would not provide another so we had to go find a place to buy some.
The personal treatment of the guests by the owners, you feel immeditely at home. no
Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, very nice location, large and convenient rooms with nice view to the vineyards. Wine tasting in the hotel was a very nice experience. Close to Cochem (few minutes by car).
Service, kindness nothing
The owners were brilliant and very helpful
The room was very clean and the hotel was very quiet. The Breakfast was nice and the extra coffee offered was a plus. Location is excellent Not much of a view from the balcony. Nice that they had one, but the rooms on the 1st(american floor) do not have a view unless you consider the business across the street a view.
the owners were very welcoming, everything was fine.
Friendly reception, great location in peaceful village. Great food.
The hotel was very nice, the food was delicious. The owners where great and the son was a very good chef.
Good restaurant Our stay was in December. Heating in room very poor
very friendly and helpfull, please foreward our thanks on to all staff and owner's for a splended hospatality.
This Gasthaus and village of Valwig are charming. The staff at the Schneemann Haus were gracious and accommodating. While the building is older, it is kept clean and comfortable. It is right next to the church (complete with bells) but the bells are stopped at 10:pm. Valwig is one of the smaller, quieter villages along the Mosel. The "wine cellar" dining room is unique and inviting. The breakfast was lovely.
The restaurant was fantastic. Very good food, service and their own wine - first class! (produced by the family that runs the hotel). The cleanliness was very noticeable. The location was very suitable for being quiet and of easy access to Cochem. Very friendly atmosphere. Not at all.
Outstanding restaruant setting in a converted wine cellar, the chef runs the hotel and the food was excellent.
The gust house has the most amazing resturant attached. The food is of a 5 star quality.
We liked the personal touch and family atmosphere. Also the food in the attached restaurant was excellent. We weren't keen on the wash basin being in the bedroom.
The private terrasse was lovely. Sitting outside with a glass of wine, enjoying the picturesque scenery was quite nice. Because they did not have the exact room that we booked available, we instead got an upgraded room that was quite comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, allowing us to come and have breakfast a little early on the day we were leaving. They also had some nice wine selections. The restaurant was not very vegetarian-friendly. Not surprising, given the area. Valwig, the small town it is located in, is a bit out of the way; the busses do not run that way extremely often from Cochem.
Our room was quite new and clean. A one night stay is value for money. Arranged for parking as advertised on site, but only parking for 3 cars and owners are not prepared to move their verhicles. Got a a rude messages on my windscreen from owners the next morning. This is more a working farm and the rest of the Hotel needs to be improved.
Friendliness of the owners and the location. Plenty of parking space. Nice big bedrooms. The ensuite facilities were a bit cramped.
The Mosel is very peaceful and looks to be more bike friedly compared to the busy Rhine. The view out our window and from the balcony of the river and vineyards was great. The Rhine is just over an hour away with all it's tourists and trains. I will choose the Mosel next time and use the bike, bus, or boats It was harvert time and the farmers use the little tractors to bring their berries to the village. I know this is timely and is required for their business; but there were a lot of them and I survied.
Personal touch from the owners - willing to help with anything we wanted.
People from the Hotel were very nice and helpful. The hotel is nicely located on the Mosel river. So it is ideal for walks or biking tours in the beautiful surrounding. The owners are also selling their own products (jams, wine). It was just very nice to enjoy in the evening some refreshing white wine looking at the river from the terrasse of the room. Only negative point: the bathroom in our room was really tiny.
Very friendly owners! Motorcycle friendly and great views from our room.
Friendly Staff Very basic rooms in need of overhaul, the price gives a clue to the standard.Basic but not very clean. The view from the hotel given in your info is not accurate, there is a concreat production plant as a view over the river.
Lovely view of moselle from balcony. having the living room as well as bedroom was great. nothing too much trouble for owners who spoke excellent english.
The fact that they were kind enough to give us without prompting a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary.
This guesthouse was great! Very friendly and we loved the fact that it was family owned and operated. They also own their own winery and have bottles available for you to purchase during your stay. You simply write down what kind you take and they add it to your bill at the end of your stay. What a fabulous idea!
THe hotel was very good and fit for purpose
we enjoyed the calm, the room spacious, the style "like at home", really a good adress, and not really far from nurburgring!
Loveley atmosphere, Landlord and landlady extremely serviceminded!! Absolutely not
Very quiet location, near forest, very scenic - still close to tourist areas in mossel valley very accomodating hosts - good breakfasts - very relaxing.
We travel to Germany every year. This hotel was the nicest we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in some nice places. The location was quiet (no shops or restaurants in the village but near enough by car) but absolutely beautiful and completely restful. Great location for touring the Mosel and surrounding cities and sites. The facilities were excellent (great indoor pool) and the hotel was spotless. Breakfast exceeded our expectations and the evening meals that we booked were wonderful. Heidi and Stefan (as well as all other staff) were beyond helpful and the highest praise that we can give this hotel is that we fully intend to spend another week there next April. I hate to say anything negative but BBC WorldService (or CNN) on the television would have been nice, although I do enjoy trying to understand German tv.
We both absolutely liked this place. Good service with English, very good food at breakfast and when we ordered dinner. Friendly people run this place. Easy to get to Burg Eltz, Cochem and Mosel/Rhine valleys from here, but you must have a car. Plenty of parking. Remote so it is very quiet at night and there is no other dining or drinking nearby without driving down the hill. Beds firm like all we slept in in Germany, but confortable. Generally a great experience.
This guesthouse was wonderful! I haven't stayed in too many because I really don't like the feeling that you are just staying in somebody's house. They have set everything up so professionally here. The rooms where very large and comfortable. The family who runs it was amazing, the food was really good, the common areas were fabulous and it is close to some great walking trails and bigger cities along the Mosel. Fabulous! Just be aware that it is about a half hour drive to get to area attractions. However, after seeing how crazy Cochem was I think staying out a way was ideal.
Very friendly family run Guesthaus, I would highly recommend eating on the evening at the Waldesblick Ferienhof.spot on.
Hotel Staff are really warm and kind
Very friendly couple running the hotel. Good simple food, and excellent value compared with nearby Cochem. Instant access to Good walks along Moselle valley and along ridge
The staff was extremely nice even though only few people did speak English. Plus the meals at thier restaurant were the first-rate. It was a little tricky to take a shower.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the hotel's location. Enjoyed the view of the Mosel River. A short walk through the vineyard into Cochem. Very relaxing.
Difficult to review as they seemed unprepared for our arrival and moved us into a house down the road, so we never actually stayed in the hotel! This was fine as it was very quiet and private. Ten minute walk back each day for breakfast. Service at breakfast was non-existant - we would have liked tea rather than coffee but there was no-one to ask.
