I wanted a quiet, clean room in a safe location for a one-night stay during my trip from Arizona to Minnesota. I got all three (quiet, clean, and safe) plus a recently remodeled room that was very functional and color coordinated. Towels, while on the smaller side, were clean and fluffy; bed linen was clean and not thread-worn. Two pillows--one soft and one firm. Bed was on the firm side, which I liked. Shower (not a tub) was hot and water pressure good. Heater unit was in the ceiling and exceptionally quiet and it put out a lot of heat. Didn't purchase WiFi. Didn't interact with staff other than checking in, which was quick and efficient. Parking lot had good lighting after dark. Morning coffee good and hot. I rated this hotel high because at a very low room rate I was expecting a similarly low-quality room. If in the area, I will return to this hotel. A couple of items to note for future travelers. My room had only soap not shampoo or conditioner. (I didn't care--too tired and I'm bald.) No Kleenex dispenser--I used toilet paper to blow nose. (I thought this was somewhat odd.) There was no microwave or refrigerator in the room--I had a single king bed in a small room so it may have been a space problem to put the micro and fridge in room. (I think there was an ice machine in the lobby, but didn't specifically go looking for it.) TV was tube-type, but the picture and cable channel election was good. The room door needed a firm pull to close--I didn't want to slam it and it wasn't latching properly--pulling door a little harder fixed the problem. Outside of hotel a little worn and frankly a little depressing at first site--but I was glad the hotel invested the money on the room.
The only complaint I had was that the wifi was not free but I simply logged on to the free wifi from the motel next door. I left something in my room and called to ask if they would look for it. They did and said they would keep it until I came back the next time... they would not send it to me. Because it would be a full year before coming back through Tucumcari I made arrangments to send them a self addressed stamped mailer and they agreed to mail it to me. Thanks Michelle!
If you've stayed in motels in the 80's and want a trip down memory lane, this is the motel for you. The room looks like it hasn't been redecorated in 30 years. The bathroom is smaller than the picture makes it look. The bed looked like it was bought on discount at the salvation army. For the money this place sucks. Just down the street at Super 8 they give you wifi and free continental breakfast.
The price was great. The cable didn't work. Some channels did. Some didn't. Also there were bugs in the room. Not a lot of them but any is too much. There was not a bathtub either. Just a stand up shower.
