10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is perhaps the best hotel I've ever stayed in. I loved the staff, the infinity pool, the views, the free port tastings, and the staff recommendations for places to go. We'll definitely be back!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view and the location is amazing. The rooms are spacious and clean and all have a balcony or terrace. You get a free wine tasting but their knowledge about the wine is limited maybe due to the fact that the same people have to work in the reception, kitchen and wine shop at the same time.
Cons: The menu in the restaurant was good but the food itself would have needed a bit of spices and was just warm enough but not more.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly beautiful location. Perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Spectacular position high above Douro river, within vineyard. Staff made extra effort to help us to enjoy, especially dinner.
Cons: It was not easy to find - a good map of approaches by road would be useful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Freshly squeezed orange juice at breakfast and sitting outside on terrace with view of river. Bottle of port in room to try.
Cons: Narrow drive up to hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a dream place to stay, incredible location, stunning property, very friendly, helpful staff, great food and wine, would recommend to everyone. Loved our stay here.
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing view, beautiful pool, great breakfast
Cons: Queen bed was actually 2 singles connected to each other. Almost too quiet. Not much going on. Nothing to do at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional location! Fabulous views from the dinning room and the pool.
Cons: The room had no view or balcony.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Totally brilliant place to stay. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Made even better that we were there for a Winemakers dinner which was amazing. We just didn't want to leave but unfortunately had to. Our room was pretty much perfect - and my wife can be very critical - and the view from our balcony was perfect - exactly as per the website.
Cons: Would have liked a trolley for luggage, but to be fair the staff were pretty helpful. Once you get to know how the place works it's all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We dined both of our nights at the restaurant under the stars. It was wonderful and delicious (as long as you had a wrap). Our second night the owner was there and he was very generous in sharing a lovely selection of reds. We had nice conversations with other guests during dinner and breakfast. The pool setting is spectacular.
Cons: I’m not a fan of blow dryers attached to the wall (pretty minor complaint).

10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of the smaller quintas but impeccable service, amenities and a view to die for. We had a small room downstairs, but everything we could possibly need was provided. A good breakfast served in the glass-enclosed dining room with view of river; what a way to start the day! Absolute peace and tranquility after a few weeks of touring; just the best.
Cons: Everything was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a beautiful room with gorgeous view of the river and a big modern bathroom. The staff was so helpful and nice. We loved all of the outdoor seating areas and restaurant with a wall of glass, all overlooking the vineyards and river below.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great place, very nice hosts! The view is amazing and beautiful rooms! Really enjoyed it!
Cons: The Quinta very isolated. 45 minutes to Pinhão by car (because of the mountains). But there is a train station 1 km from it. (We likes the way there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfortable room, including wonderful shower. Angela so friendly and informative
Cons: No dislikes
9.2 Excellent
Pros: After busy Lisbon and Porto this was a blissful contrast in calmness. There were numerous terraces so you could always find a nice spot to enjoy the incredible view. They make an excellent Rose which they provided as a welcome drink. Had a wonderful sleep - combination of a good mattress and super quiet surroundings. Nice bathroom. Staff were very friendly. Dinner was not gourmet fare but everything was nicely cooked. We enjoyed the three course dinner which included wine and port. A great place to unwind.
Cons: The room was on the compact side but it worked efficiently. There is a common living room area with multiple sub areas so you could play cards, read a book (with a stunning view) or just chat with other guests if you desire more space. The drive was interesting but challenging. I agree with another guest’s comments that you want to arrive before it gets dark as the road has many switch backs and guard rails are far and few between. Some of the vineyards require pre-booking so do your research!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and helpful. The views from the Quinta were amazing. Our dinner of wild boar and salmon was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about Quinta da Marka is perfection! The staff and facilities are incredible and the wine is fantastic. We just wish we could've stayed longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The views were splendid! The staff was wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved this place! Quiet and well kept. Beautiful view. Many different places to sit and enjoy a glass of wine on the property with some privacy. Simple but good quality Portuguese food. Would absolutely come back here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Oh the views from this hotel are simply amazing looking down to the Douro River! Sitting out on their patio was a highlight of staying here as you watched the boats go by. They are conveniently located near the train station so you can easily get to Peso Regua in 15 minutes. Breakfast was great with many choices and the view in their glassed room looking out to the river was fabulous. Dinner is also served here offering a full menu complete from soup to dessert including wine or you could choose the simple menu of a main entree with vegetable and salad. It was so nice to have this option so that we didn't have to go out at night. Angela and Rita and her mom were all so friendly and so helpful. We loved staying here. Castro winery was just up the hill from Quinta Da Marka and Nova was close by too. You do need to make reservations for a wine tasting. We were there in September and participated in harvesting the grapes and treading them at Quinta Pacheca in Peso Regua .
Cons: The ride to this hotel winds it's way high up through the hills. It is a very narrow road with blind corners. You would not want to arrive at this hotel at night time.

9.5 Excellent (167 reviews)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the essential place to stay when in the Douro region. It’s in a tiny village 15 minutes from Pinhão. It is extraordinary because of its modern/rustic decor, character and the hosts, Jet and Ronald. You also absolutely must arrange to have dinner there (most evenings that is possible). This will give you exceptional food plus a variety of wines and ports. Ronald is an informed and entertaining aficionado of all that you will consume. Sorry, Ronald and Jet if this review creates pressure of expectations from future clients but after 18 years experience you can handle it!
Cons: Simply nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The communal dinner was extremely amazing! We made friends with other guests from other countries too!
Cons: Something that can't be helped - the rain :(
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old stone building in a charming small village high up in the Douro Valley. Your room is a large country bedroom overlooking the valley. It feels like you are guests at a friends weekend dinner party in the country. Walk the path down to the river for a great day but do not miss the dinner with wine pairings. This was one of our favorite nights of our two weeks in Portugal.
Cons: We could not stay longer! It was a little too cold to swim in the beautiful pool!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view and the garden were very awesome! Rooms were also clean, comfortable and nicely furnished! Hosts are very helpful. Breakfast is nice and dinner is also served for a small amount.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, but the offer of dinner with excellent matched wines was a super bonus. We ate and drank both nights at the accommodation with other guests and had a sensational experience.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast we had was excellent with a good choice and we were very happy with what was provided. We stayed in both nights to have dinner which was good value given the knowledge our hosts had of the region and the select of wine and port provided. The room we had was clean and tidy and nothing was a problem for our hosts. We asked them to arrange booking for a day of wine tastings which we enjoyed also. We would go back again.
Cons: Nothing. It suited what we needed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice proprietors go out-of-their way to provide comfortable experience to guests. Family-style dinning with other guests fun and useful information exchange. Village of of guesthouse is quaint and beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely old house converted to a B&B, set in the middle of a charming old village. We had a big room with a small balcony and a view of the hills. The owners are very helpful and can give you a lot of useful advice. Also, they cook dinners every now and then which are served at a common table, so there is a chance for guests to socialize if they wish.
Cons: There was only portable air conditioning device.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: A town with only 300 people with beautiful views and fields. People at the plaza knows each other, and welcome to their town. You can seat and relax and enjoy the views from house or go explore the town and beautiful wineries.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The evening meals were delicious and each course was paired with an excellent wine or port. The group meals were a lot of fun and a chance to interact with different cultures.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the guesthouse is located in a beautiful village with amazing views from the garden. the room was spacious being equipped with all we needed and more.... the hosts were extremely kind and helpful. the dinner was a great culinary experience
Cons: It was simply great!

Pros: Very clean and spacious. Levi and his wife could not have been nicer. Helpful, courteous and kind despite our lack of the language. Had a beautiful breakfast and conversation with other travellers. We would absolutly stay here again.
Cons: We didn’t stay longer
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location and truly nice hosts! We enjoyed the stay and received plenty of recommendation what to do in the neighbourhood. Rooms are super clean. We appreciated the garden and the silence around. Nice breakast with great scrumbled egg and daily changing delicious home-made cake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved my stay at Casa do Pinhal. The hosts were very welcoming, helpful and hart warming people. I would have any reason to come back and visit these people and Casa do Pinhal.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: Casa de Pinhal was very conveniently located to the Douro Valley and the vineyards that abound. The hosts Eli and Fernanda were very helpful and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation was lovely and well located. The hosts were very helpful and went out of their way to help rectify a mistake we made when booking a walking tour. Without their help it was unlikely we could have resolved our error. The walking tour through the valley was fabulous, well worth it, the village lovely with an excellent restaurant which we ate in twice. A memorable stay. Thank you.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had such a peaceful and comfortable stay. Thank you so much Pedro and Fernanda.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Levi and Fernanda were exceptional hosts. They were kind, helpful and had good tips on local restaurants (most were closed but the place they suggested, Ruby Cafe, was absolutely delicious and Levi even came to check on us to make sure we were being well-taken care of) and driving information. The breakfast in the morning was absolutely wonderful and plentiful - be sure you try Fernanda’s homemade cake (bolo de cerveja on the morning we were there - delicious!). I would highly recommend this property and I would stay again if I ever return to the area!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good hospitality and home like experience, nice breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I wish I could give the hosts a bigger smile, they were amazing! They made us a home cooked meal every morning and offered to help us in anyway they could. They have a "guard dog", Lord, who is VERY chill and fun to have around.
Cons: The location was prime for the town we were staying in but not as close to the river as I thought. That's more on me than the property.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Lovely staff. Stunning setting. Big rooms. Lovely pool. Amazing breakfast. The dinner with wine pairings was fantastic. Only good things to say about this Quinta! They made our first stop in the Douro valley for our honeymoon really special! The wine tasting and tour was the best one we did (of about 5 or 6!)
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thank you Churchills our stay was perfect.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I like the comfy beds, the ambience, the scenery and the service. Food and wine are very good.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking location. Modern and luxurious but retains charm of original Quinta. Stunning infinity pool looking over the valley. Great home cooking which we found to be excellent value too - 3 course meal with wine pairings for €40!! Lovely cosy atmosphere and great hospitality. The dining set up is unusual in that you eat with the other guests around a table that seats 8. But it makes for a home from home / house party feeling and we met some fantastic people whilst we were there.
Cons: The drive is a bit challenging but an adventure... and you wouldn’t get the same views or experience from a property that is easier to access. Totally worth it in our opinion. Just try to arrive in daylight or in time for sundowners on the terrace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Quinta da Gricha is located in such a beautiful spot in the Douro, it seems unreal. The house is great - very welcoming and wonderful terrace for the views. Teresa, Arno and Katerina are doing a fabulous job, making everything so easy for us. Spending the day with Miru and Kika, the two lovely dogs, was an added bonus! The food was incredible with lovely wine and port to match. Really beautiful breakfast spread in the dining room. Fresh bread to die for and I loved the bolo de coco so much! I loved everything! We'll be back as soon as we can!
Cons: Only staying for two nights!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: View, food, design/furnishings.
Cons: Getting there is... interesting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have to say that the road to the hotel is quite challenging but regarding the experience I would do it again! The pool, the decoration, the ambiance, the breakfast, the VIEW from the room were just like in a dream!
Cons: The road to come to the place was so challenging for me that it was out of question to go out for dinner somewhere else. So you're a bit stuck with the hotel restaurant which is not a problem. We enjoyed a fantastic meal with the other guests and discovered the amazing personality of their young chef. We paid each 50€ for a 3 courses meal and drinks. The food and the overall experience were great but I have to say it was just a bit overpriced for the diner level. From 30 to 40€ would have been more accurate price for my standards. But this is a TINY detail! The room view was just breathtaking!!! I wish the size of it would have been as big as the vast and endless vineyards surrounding the property. From the pictures I thought it would be bigger. But once again, not a big deal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is so kind that makes you feel at home; breakfast and dinner were amazing and waking up with this view is the best re-charging cure! Can’t wait to come back!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very tranquil and relaxing small hotel which made us feel super welcome and relaxed. The view is amazing and the rooms are beautiful and spacious. We had dinner at the hotel which was a friendly evening with the other guests. Perfect place to relax and recharge. The location might be a bit isolated for some but we loved it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking views from every room and from the pool! The silence, no cell service - perfect escape for the weekend! Beautiful and cosy house with just 4 rooms! Dinner has a different concept - served for all the guests in the same table, which we would normally not opt to, however, it was lovely due to a small amount of guests that can be accommodated. We had a great time, totally recommend I would recommend to arrive to the estate in the day light - the roads in Douro region are very narrow and have no lifts at night.

With a stay at Refúgio D'Anita Douro valley house in Tabuaco, you'll be 10.4 mi (16.7 km) from Quinta do Panascal Visitor's Center and 13 mi (21 km) from Chapel of St. Dominic. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. This place is nice and well equipped. It is a blast to be on tiny streets with locals all around.
Cons: This place was fantastic in the tiny village of Barcos. Everything was great, including the bottle of Port waiting for us and the locals. The only negative is that the local priest, who doesn't live in the village has decided that the ancient church needs to play electronic music and bells every 30 minutes, 24 hrs a day. You need ear plugs. This was our favorite place so far on our trip.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: They organised a visit in one of the quinta nearby, which was a great add-on to our trip.
Cons: Nothing to do with the property but the street are very narrow in the village where the accomodation is located. So a smaller car is recommended.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Old village shifted back in time and forgotten by the world. Very characteristic for Douro valley with arounded vineyards. Betefull views and oryginal villages. All nice comforts in apartment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is real Portugal! Tiny village, narrow streets, people going about doing daily chores! The apartment is fantastic! We should have booked for a weekend! Our hosts were a delightful couple with local knowledge. It really was a “refuge”! Hundred year old house with renovated interior, exceptional work! Gift of lemons from family garden, Port wine to sample from family vines and good tip for eating out in Tabuaço. Truly a real gem of a place. Highly recommend!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Barcos is situated high up the Douro and it was lovely to arrive (finally) in the 10 century village. We had a warm welcome by Marcia and her friend. The apartment is well contained and you want for nothing, everything is there if you wish to cook. Locally there are two small supermarkets and a bakery. We did a morning trip to Pinhao for a one hour river cruise and we’re back by 2pm to walk to the family winery for a fabulous tour, hosted by Jose. What a memorable experience. Thank you Jose.
Cons: As with all quaint villages there is a church. This local one had four megaphones on its roof and every 30 minutes, DAY and NIGHT the megaphones ‘chime’ bells.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is very cosy and clean! The communication with Jose went really well and his family welcomed us very friendly! The little village is beautiful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning medieval village in the middle of a vine region. Amazing view from the village. Super atmosphere!! :D
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is unbeatable, very special remote village. House itself has this very old spirit, but still with modern facilities. Our stay was very comfortable, from using kitchen, bathroom to sleeping in a bed. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. We felt very welcomed.
Cons: It would take really picky person to find something not to like here :) Too bad we had time only for one night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and welcoming hosts, the whole Family really. The appartement is very nice and well equiped, good internet connection, too. We would have loved to have more time to do the wine tasting offered by the host.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: If you are not used to the bells ring fron the chearch every half an hour it can be noisy at night .

Pros: Rural location with good nearby restaurant. Comfortable bed in reasonable sized room with effective shutters.
Cons: There was an issue with their booking records and we arrived to find we did not get the room we had booked (although management did seek to rectify the situation). Wifi was poor and we were woken by other guests returning late at night.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The property seem nice and very well looked after, but the room was a little bit dark and not incredibly inviting although there was no real complaints with the quality of the room.
Cons: The host who greeted us really didn’t make us feel incredibly welcome. She just seemed kind of cold and not very interested

Cons: Pity the town taverna was closed

Pros: We have stayed here several times before, it's a really lovely place, and great staff. The scenery is amazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation was terrific a beautiful building with lovley decor good breakfast Thanks Monica
Cons: Nothing
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This was my first stay at a B&B rather than a typical name brand hotel, and I am so glad I chose a place like this for my leisurely stay in wine country. The small town was quiet with amazing hilltop views of the valley. We walked to a restaurant recommended by pamphlets in the foyer, as well as a cafe, Grocery store, and pharmacy, so this town has everything you could need when traveling. I booked the top floor suite which was very spacious and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. I could tell everything has been updated and well kept. Breakfast from 8:30-10am daily had a great variety. Great room prices for such a nice place!
Cons: The location is on a hilltop involving a 20-30 minute drive from most vineyards and nice restaurants for tourism. If I went back, I might look for a place to stay that was closer to the river and activities.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting and very kind and caring staff. The food and wine was fantastic.
Cons: No complaints at all!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic location, the views are a dream. We came there to relax and the place is perfect just for that. Staff is super helpful. The rooms are traditional and clean. The breakfast is exactly how I like it - small selection of very high quality food. The wine tasting was fun, the boat trip with wine tasting was great for meeting people, the wineyard hike was also a highlight.
Cons: For Portugal, it is expensive, but the quality is reflected in the prices. The only thing is that they offer only 3-courses fine dining dinner (50eur per person). Some nights we just werent that hungry and just wanted a soup, but that was not possible. It is a pity. Also bring water with you. I found the water in the hotel expensive (i think around 4eur for 0,7l). You get two bottles per room each day, but for us it was not enough, so we ended up paying a lot for water. But, saying all this, if money is not a problem for you, this is the place to go!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay, one of the most relaxing places we have ever visited. Staff was great and dinners were five stars!
7.9 Good
Pros: This property boasts a great location in the Douro river vineyards. The staff were pleasant and the food was adequate.
Cons: It was much too expensive. Everything was fine but not of the quality one should expect for the price.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing property and stunning views - truly breathtaking and a once in a lifetime experience!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is remotely located with 30 minutes or more to other places on narrow twisty roads my husband loved to drive. The restaurant offers delicious food, but the small, set menus, which didn’t change during the 4 days we were there, did not offer enough flexibility for us. Also, they only offer their own wines, but will open and serve your wine without a corkage fee. We enjoyed hiking the property, lazing by the pool, leisurely breakfasts, and our first dinner. The views and decor are flawless, service is fantastic.
Cons: Our meal preferences did not match the limited tapas selections and there was no flexibility permitted in the main meal serving. Our 2nd night, after being told we couldn’t share a dinner, we reluctantly ordered two meals. The entrees that arrived were not what we ordered. The waiter acknowledged the mistake, apologized, and took them back to get the proper ones. It was 45 minutes later when we got well done lamb chops (absolutely NO pink) instead of medium rare as ordered. The waiter again apologized and offered to get us replacements. It only takes 10 minutes to correctly cook the lamb, so it was obvious our meal went to the end of the service line. It was well past time for us to eat so we declined. Other than the waiter, we never received any apologies or consideration from the chef or manager. Our following lunch and dinners were eaten offsite. The restaurant at Quinta Rosa was very nice and far more flexible. Also, a roadside restaurant directly on the other side of the river offered delicious local foods as great prices. My favorite was the fried quail plate.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: View and foodC
Cons: Communication regarding booking wine tours and dinner in advance
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful service - collecting & taking us to the station. Very informative wine tour. Amazing dinner with beautifully presented food & interesting flavours. Brilliant wine of course. Perfect location - peace & quiet with fabulous views at every turn. Lovely walking round the estate - even the tractor drivers were friendly & pleased to talk to visitors.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Unable to do wine tour as full Rang before and asked if needed to pre book and told not necessary Could not accomodate us and we were a group together of 6 We were not happy
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Superb location inside a winery. The view is stunning and the amenities available make this a perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, or having a romantic stay. The wines from Quinta Nova are awesome and having dinner there is a nice opportunity to enjoy them all pairing with a very good meal.

Pros: Excellent staff and service. Facilities are beautiful and located right on the Douro River. It was very relaxing.
Cons: A/C was noisy and weak
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very attentive staff and great location
Cons: This hotel works through a central booking office located in Porto. This booking-office created unimaginable problems, requesting creditcard details for a guarantee and not being able to accept several different creditcards, continuously requesting card updates an experience I never had to go through with any other (of the many) hotel-reservations I make.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location to visit the area. comfortable rooms, beautiful general areas and well managed outdoor swimming pool.
Cons: Dinner facilities very constrained by kitchen capability and limits number able to eating. Book in advance if you require an earlier time sitting. Not being informed in advance was very frustrating. However, the food itself was excellent and the wine list extensive.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Really Really too notch, it is a beautiful old estate hotel that was 5 stars in every way. Staff was gracious, generous and arranged dinners, wine tastings, transportation for us. Our river view room was great. Fabulous view of river, vineyards and the port boats. It was the most comfortable King bed of my entire trip (not rock hard like a-lot of european beds) and it had large down pillows. Breakfast is superb and served on a lovely patio surrounded by beautiful gardens. they also have a lovely (tiled) pool. It was in a Great location called Pinhau which is very close to a-lot of wineries and its just beautiful and peaceful all the way around. Maybe the best part of my entire trip. Wish i stayed for a week.
Cons: Nothing to not like. It was perfect.

Pros: Scenery is stunning and no photograph can prepare you for the fabulous vistas from the room. Breakfast was exemplary and lovely sat on the terrace. Lunches on the terrace and bar were delicious and good value. The restaurant was elegant and informal, food was good. Staff in all areas of the hotel were very helpful.
Cons: The food in the restaurant could improve a notch or two, but it was relaxed and we did enjoy the evening, staff were great

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The 400 year old family estate was a complete delight to stay at! I felt like I was in an episode of Downton Abbey due to the charm, elegance, attention to detail and the service! Maria, our host, was helpful, considerate and kind. I loved the delicious evening meal, where guests sat around a large, beautifully appointed table, for delightful conversation. Meeting people who love to travel, from all over the world, added to the experience. The view is incredible as is the welcome drink, the breakfast and the comfort of the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, the food
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great beds. Amazing view. Outstanding Maria host. Lively dinner. Great tour.
Cons: The room beneath the dining room room 3 sometimes is disturbed by scraping chairs of early breakfast takers
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the ambience of Casa De Casal De Loivos, the beautiful views looking through the vines to the Douro below, the helpfulness of the amazing Maria and all her staff, the lovely Pool, the comfortable and spotlessly clean room which opened onto the Terrace with those unforgettable views of the Douro, the fun Dinners every evening, when visitors from many parts of the world came together to share stories of their day (and lives) over an excellent dinner. We also enjoyed our River Trip with Michel (arranged for us by Maria), we can also recommend the Port & Wine Tasting in the nearby Quintas. We couldn't believe our luck to have found such a unique place to stay and hope our future travels will bring us back again one day.
Cons: There was nothing we did not like except the steep drive up to the Casa from Pinhao through the Vineyards that our Satnav directed us on. We soon found out there was a more direct and safer road!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Maria and staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. The breakfast and dinner were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the pool and having dinner on the terrace overlooking the vineyards and Douro River. Thanks for making our stay so memorable. We Look forward to a return visit.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views. Very friendly staff and the opportunity to share a meal with other guests in the dinning room, all together sitting on the same table. We wish we would have stayed for more days.
Cons: If you want to get this great view you do need to go up the hills through a tough road but it's worth it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the terrace is one in a million. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food is good. The staff is outstanding.
Cons: Didn't like leaving
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Maria, out amazing hostess! She not only made arrangements for our private dinner overlooking the amazing view from the terrace but also told us about the history of the house and drove us to the train station when no taxis were available.
Cons: The room was a bit dark, which was actually an advantage in cooling off from the midday sun. Otherwise, everything went smoothly.

Pros: The location is fantastic, the furniture awesome, the staff super kind
Cons: The bed was approx 1,80 in length which would be perfect for 90% of the guests but my boyfriend is 1.90 so it was a bit uncomfortable as it has wood on both sides of the bed and he could not fit. For me, as I m shorter was just fine! Bells ringing loudly at 6 am
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old palace with nice rooms and swimming pool, just a few steps from the bar with cheap and good wine :)

Pros: An esoteric hotel, but nevertheless nice. I arrived in my classic Ferrari which didn't exactly agree with the horrible cobble entrance - ie it scraped both inwards and outwards - but such is life and it is not the end of the world. My room was small, but it is good value. Great pool table! Would I stay again? - Yes

Cons: breakfast can be improved by adding local produce. for the pool it would take more cleaning to avoid finding dead insects in the water

Cons: Total misrepresentation regarding the room. 2 of the 11 rooms face a brick wall despite the hotels website stating that on its website that all 11 rooms have panoramic views of the river or the slopes. I complained and received a discount. But I would not have booked this hotel if I had known about the room.

The bathroom has almost the same size as the room. The staff is very kind and helpful. The breakfast room is bright and the breakfast rather good. It is a place to return to.

Pros: The views are to die for. Lovely quiet little area. The lovely lady , Orchidia, ( hope that is close to her spelling ) made it so very enjoyable for our stay. Couldn't do enough for us. Great European breakfast to start our days driving around the beautiful Douro Valley's steep, winding roads. A fantastic view every which way you turned. Pros: Small village close to pinhoa. Lovely friendly staff and great value tourist evening meal for approximately 10 euro. Tourist information centre people gave great suggestions of local sights to visit.
Cons: Our fault. Property doesn’t have a lift and we were on second floor. Need to add this to our filters when booking.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very hospitable front desk. Quiet location.
Cons: Wifi was only functional in the lobby.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Modern, clean, roomy...staff tried very hard to make it feel like a best-rated hotel and it was a wonderful stay but lacked charm
Cons: Dishes chipped breakfast area, furniture worn; restaurant downstairs has limited menu, staff was lacking training in what was on menu and over-priced in comparison to other in-town venues i.e. Thomas Eggers Taboo down the hill and others. Ex. Laundry for 15 items...jeans, men’s T-shirt’s, boxers, 30 Euro....but the staff are very helpful and accommodating.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful small town with a nice hotel, friendly staff, clean and comfortable, with good service. Fantastic view from the center.
7.1 Good
Pros: The people working at the hotel were great. The hotel had easy parking The hotel had a nice coffee machine to make coffee in the morning
Cons: The photos were much nicer than the actual space, the rooms look both larger and less modern. Someone called this a business hotel in the reviews, that is not the case. This is more like a 3 star hotel that is fine for travelers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable.
Cons: None
8.8 Excellent

Restaurant had good choice of food at reasonable prices. Free parking outside was a bonus. Clean modern bathroom and comfy beds. Good value for money.
Cons: Rather a long way off the beaten track but we were expecting this so it wasn’t a surprise. Sunday evening in Tabuaço was very quiet - no other options for food or drink.

2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Since the beginning, all was bad, the location is referenced as Tabuaço, also in google maps send you to the center of Tabuaço, (Tabuaço, small village but with normal resources like restaurants or cafeteria) but in reality the house is in Pinheiros (Pinheiros is 10km from Tabuaço, and is just a place, with 20 houses and no infrastructure, no restaurants no nothing), the problem is that all is set to led you in miss understating of the real place you are booking your room. Accommodation and House – in reality is not a real hotel / pension, is a normal house that is not fully converted to rent rooms, the bed and the conditions of the room are not at the level that are charged, and cleaning of the room is not made from one day to another. They provided breakfast in the morning, but in the day of arrival they are not prepared to serve food, they just don’t do it! So if you want to have dinner when you arrive, you have to go 10km in the mountain into to Tabuaço.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: It was a very attractive old vineyard homestead with many antiques
Cons: No hot water. Pool unusable. Creaky old bed that was very small for a double and woke us up every time we moved. Aggressive demand for money as soon as we arrived. No receipt offered for money. Could hear every toilet, basin and shower being used. Gurgling pool filtration system going all night. Disorganised breakfast where we were all unsure of what was clean and what wasn’t. Terrace equipment either not available or broken. Very difficult to find. No local source of evening meal within 5 km
