10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place!! Very warm welcome, beautiful house. Big rooms with high ceilings and a great communal lounge. The breakfast was perfect. Highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great concept of making own breakfast and socializing with others. Can't recommend them enough. Definitely a highlight of our trip.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Nuno and Rute are very friendly and knowledgeable. Nuno checked me and spent a lot of time introducing me to the house and the town including good recommendations for restaurants I probably wouldn't have found otherwise. I didn't interact very much with Rute but I saw her introducing another guest in the same thorough way. The house is magnificent with high moulded ceilings, large windows and interesting vintage furniture and many touches of quirky but tasteful flair. There is a large well equipped kitchen and each room is given its stock of breakfast items - bread, eggs, muesli, milk, yogurt, fruit etc. A lovely large living room looks out onto the square.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this wonderful guesthouse in the middle of the City. Everything was perfectly arranged, very stylish and the House has a very warm and welcoming Charme. We would have Loved to stay longer and hope to come back once. Breakfast: 10vout of 10 Stars, couldn‘t have been better. Very helpful hosts and nice guests. Highly recommended for any Holiday at the northern Portuguise coast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was wonderful. Very hospitable staff, very comfortable. Excellent food, which had to be self-prepared.
Cons: Room was a bit bright and noisy at night. It was a very hot night and I had to open the door. Used ear plugs and eye mask, so it wasn't a problem.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nuno is a great host and their place is simply amazing- I can only recommend staying in this lovely hotel which is stylish and make you feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super location, our room had a terrace overlooking the main square. Breakfast system is excellent, spacious clean rooms, and great staff..
Cons: Nothing!
7.5 Good
Pros: Location, decoration.
Cons: The check-in process took longer than average since there were millions of rules to explain about how to open doors, how to prepare breakfast etc. It could be faster and direct. Breakfast was poor by the price paid, bread was not fresh and everything (like eggs and yogurt) was limited, ridiculous for two people. Definitely it was not a satisfying breakfast, beside the fact that these idea "prepare your own breakfast" is not practical at all, coz the guests remain waiting for long time to use coffee machine, cooker, pan and other utilities. I highly recommend that the management of the property evaluate this system. By the value paid, more expensive than many good hotels were I stayed, it's not worth.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean! I loved the house so much that i decided to stay for one more night. Amazing breakfasts with fruits, eggs, yogurt, cheese and musli. Also the hosts provide you with bicycles in case you want to have a ride. Amazing living room to chill out and listen to a very good vinyl collection. P.S. Be careful! The house is so pleasant that you might spend all your time inside and won't enjoy the city :D
Cons: A mirror on the wall in the rooms with shared bathroom would be a very nice addition :) If you are a light sleeper, the rooms facing the square might be a bit noisy for you.

7.5 Good
Pros: Well decorated rooms, very kind host, good price/quality ratio.
Cons: Noisy road, noisy other guests (that actually threw my laundry on the dirty ground to make room for their own) not a nice place to eat nearby.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is the most amazing, beautiful place to stay. Wisteria-covered paths through old olive groves, citrus orchards and vineyards. Very clean, beautiful rooms and a big, delicious breakfast with fresh flowers in the napkins. A gorgeous pool to cool off in. Rosa and Alberto are kind and helpful. A wonderful find!
Cons: The property is a little hard to find, but private and secluded, so the location is perfect.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Our host Rosa and her son were truly AMAZING. incredibly friendly ,and their 130+ yr old property is a sheer delight. Modernised where it matters- eg bathroom, but the old-world charm well preserved. The breakfast was THE BEST we have had on our month long trip thru Portugal. Parking is on site of this big property, lots of travel advice gladly given. BIG APPLAUD- this is tops !!!!
Cons: nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stopped at many different hotels over the last thirty years, I can honestly say this was the BEST experience I have ever had. The hospitality and personal touch shown by Rosa and her son Alberto went way beyond what one would expect. The grounds of the former farmhouse including the orange grove and the beautiful flowers provide a perfect welcome, then you have Rosa's home cooking, a breakfast from heaven all hand crafted by Rosa, with the freshly squeezed orange, meats and cheeses, home baked cake/tart, fresh fruit, all presented to 5 star quality. The rooms are immaculate, and outdoor the swimming pool was a welcome shield from the sun. Despite our requirement for a 5.30am departure on our final day, Rosa and Alberta were up to provide us with our full breakfast. Location wise, a 6km jaunt from the impressive Viana do Castello, where a visit to the 'Primavera Restaurant' is a must for lunch.
Cons: Absolutely nothing.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It was overall a fantastic stay. Alberto and Rosa were attentive hosts, and every breakfast was a little feast! Lots of attention to detail, warmth and a charming location make la Quinta do Valle do Monte a very special retreat for couples or families.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful and very old works Portugal. Nicely maintained and decorated. The location was close to Viana and beaches. Quiet, gated, scenic. The breakfasts were delicious with eggs , meats, cheeses, great breads, fresh juice. Dona Rosa and her son were more than gratitude hosts. I felt as if I was visiting family. Loved it!
Cons: Not applicable.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: A lovely old style house with comfortable rooms, gardenand orchards and a good sized pool. Our hosts could not have been kinder making us very welcome with lovely eat treats and a great breakfast. We had to leave very early to catch a plane and they provided a packed breakfast for us to take. This is a veritable oasis in the outer reaches of the town with good road access in all directions and a 10 -15 minute drive to the beach, and town. There is a restaurant/ bar serving food and 2 large supermarkets within a 5 minute walk.
Cons: The location is fine if you have a car and are happy to drive mostly everywhere including further up the valley for some peaceful walks but there is nowhere for pleasant evening strolls directly from the house.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: More a home-stay than a hotel. Shared house with 2 small families, a dog and another couple. The owners welcomed us at house but left for their place in Viana do Castelo. We made food with others in the kitchen, everything you need is there. Lovely fireplace in sitting room. Spacious, clean bedroom and shower, comfy bed and good silence.
Cons: A bit unsure how to find it, and a bit unsure of the housing arrangements...the hosts speaks mostly Portugese. Hard to regulate temperature in bedroom, cold floors and a bit damp in parts of the house. Could be a noisy experience depending on other guests behaviour...no one there to take care of things, for example the electricity broke down in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A glimpse into traditional Portuguese hospitality and requint!
Cons: Difficult to find without GPS. Easier if the village name was mentioned in the address.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts couldn't have been more helpful. They are a lovely, generous couple, who genuinely seem to enjoy meeting their guests and making their stay as comfortable as possible. The facilities in the house are exceptionally well maintained and clean. Overall it was excellent value for money and we would happily go again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a beautiful house everything super clean and it is so inviting. Really feels like home and the owners are very welcoming.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very large house, with many beautiful and comfy sitting outside garden areas to use. Spectacular bbq! Very large and cozy living room, welcome snacks and refreshments. Remarkable hospitality!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and helpful owner. Room very nice, large and own bathroom. The hotel does not offer breakfasts but there is a large kitchen with all facilities. Each room has its own refrigerator in the kitchen. It is difficult to get to the hotel without a car (thank you to the owner for saving us! :)) but there are buses. There is a large garden, terrace, kitchen, huge living room and dining room with tv (there is also a TV in the room but with fewer programs). I can not fault anything, very happy to come back there again and stay longer. and! The hotel accepts dogs :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a large house with lots of areas to relax in, apart from your room! The kitchen has everything you need and there is a BBQ and outdoor kitchen area as well. The hosts are extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. There is enough parking for guests and right across the road there is a bar selling fresh bread and good coffee (no meals) . There are other restaurants close by and Viana do Costelo is about 15 min drive. Several supermarkets are within a 5 min drive. a great place to stay.
Cons: The residence is on a corner and you have to be careful of other cars, when you enter and exit the residence. During the day there is quite a bit of traffic noise. (This is not really a big issue but the only thing that we didn't like !!!)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Otherwise everything was great .
Cons: The wifi was not working at all, however the owner told us from the beginning.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location and breakfast
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely sportshotel very near the beach. Rooms well designed and comfortable. We very much enjoyed the surfing lessons facilitated by the hotel. Staff was lovely. Breakfast was great. Surroundings beautiful. We definitely will be back.
Cons: Although staff were without exception friendly and helpful, in the restaurant, taberna, bar etc there apparantly is not enough structure to enable the lovely staff to work efficiently. We were -as a rule- kept waiting a long time for drinks and/or food. Waiting time for a simpel cup of tea could be as much as 45 minutes. Orders were often mixed up or forgotten. Catering could do with the attention of an experienced manager.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: The price of restaurante
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The perfect place got a weekend getaway. The place is very peaceful with the beach at a 2-minute walk. I would point out that breakfast is excellent with a lot of variety. The spa zone is also very nice with the swimming pool being the highlight.
Cons: There's nothing special I didn't specifically like. The only weird thing that I found is that the hotel has only one floor and it's big, which means, if you're in one of the latest rooms, you are in for a big walk (as I did).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great atmosphere, a nice gym and swimming pool (nicely designed, cozy even though also small). Lots of nature and sports activities to do around the hotel. There is even a very nice mini skatepark and a very complete sports store in the hotel. The main room near the lobby is also great, spacious, comfortable, elegant while informal.
Cons: We stayed in one of the bungalows. It was a great choice in terms of space, design and feeling but the views would have been better from the hotel itself. We loved the fool but found it a quite expensive, especially considering we were in the low season.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Walkable distance from the beach, very quiet and incorporated into the nature and surroundings. Perfect ambience.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, particularly the guides in the Sports Centre. We did a SUP Tour with Rafa and Bike Tour with Rical (not sure how to spell!) - both were awesome! We also benefitted from some intensive yoga with Tiago! Food was delicious & plentiful - and the waiting staff in the restaurant very helpful. The walk through the pine forest to the beach smelled lovely and the beach was beautiful & clean!
Cons: There aren’t many alternative restaurant options for lunch or dinner within walking distance.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, simplicity and elegance. Great food and amazing views.
Cons: Communication was not always great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice location directly at the beach. Very friendly staff at the reception and the restaurant!
Cons: All good
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the beach. I thought that the hotel was well thought out architecturally and in terms of the decor - it was beautiful and comfortable, especially the main room. The food was delicious and the staff were very good. We had terrible weather which was not the hotels fault but you really need good weather to properly enjoy the facilities. V lovely staff in the restaurant, bar and spa and I would especially like to thank the yoga teacher, diana, there.
Cons: I initially asked to be put in a room for 3 adults which was not available for the dates I wanted as it required a particular type of room. I eventually chose a bungalow for myself and a double room with single beds for my grown up children. Although we were close as the crow flies it was a long walk between the 2 separate accommodations and I felt that there was more than enough room for the 3 of us to be in the bungalow together. When I questioned this the hotel staff explained that this was not possible as they could not accommodate an extra single bed which was simply not true. There was loads of room. So I ended up being disappointed not only because of the rain. I was alone in a huge space and my family were separate from me and it was the first time we have been away for over 3 years because of some difficult circumstances and this was a much needed time together. I also paid almost double what I could have for the accommodation. I felt "up sold".

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms were very nice and clean. Nice to have a private sitting area in your room and we could visit with others in the foyer as well. They had a kitchen which was very well equipped and they gave us a ride to the supermarket to pick up groceries to bbq our supper. They operate a vineyard do they had 4 different types of white wine we could purchase for a nominal fee. We really enjoyed their wines. The breakfast served in the morning was excellent with lots of variety to choose from.
Cons: No complaints.... Cecile & Christian thanks for allowing us to stay in your home!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful house and surroundings with lovely owners who are super friendly and hospitable. If you need to get away from it all this is the place, relax by the pool all day drinking the owners wine. Plenty to do around the area too and some stunning empty (even in summer holidays) beaches a short drive away. If you're after relaxation you will be very happy here. Would come back if I'm ever in the area.
Cons: If we are being very picky the beds could be softer.

Pros: Cecilia (owner) was amazing. We pilgrims arrived hungry and she put together an amazing outdoor lunch in a matter of minutes (don’t count on this though, it was a favor). Fantastic pool area, huge room, wonderful breakfast. Could have stayed much longer if it weren’t for Santiago calling! We also had a bottle of their own label organic wine which was wonderful and only €5.

Pros: We got two small rooms in the attic. The place is very beautiful and well maintained in a rural area and has a large swimming pool. The host is very pleasant and welcoming, and a very good breakfast.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Our hosts were gracious and welcoming, the place is beautiful and the service and amenities excellent.
Cons: The location turned out to be much farther from the town of Viana do Castelo than we had thought it was. If we hadn't had a rented car it would have been a serious problem! Also, though it is really our problem not theirs, it would be helpful for visitors to speak some Portuguese, because the proprietors do not speak English and only limited Spanish.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The owners went the extra mile. The breakfasts was delicious with home made additions and Portuguese specialities.
Cons: N/a
10.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews
Located in Viana do Castelo, Quinta Do Monteverde is within a 15-minute drive of Cabedelo Beach and Esposende Beach. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, multilingual staff, and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The Quinta is set in beautiful gardens with a lovely swimming pool, fountains, and places to relax. Our ‘casa’ was luxurious and had every convenience.
Cons: Absolutely nothing. You’re best to have a car in this area of Portugal but we managed 3 days without one. It’s short bus or taxi to Viana. Breakfast was delicious each morning, although perhaps a slightly earlier start than 9am. But you get into the relaxing swing of things.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, great facilities, very peaceful and welcoming.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hostess’s welcome is kind and VERY (too?) detailed, but a tad too directive and overbearing. At times it makes you feel like a little child who needs to be taught house rules. Too much content is imparted upon you, whether you find it useful or need it at all in the first place. The room we had was a “suite” and thus featured a little anteroom with a kitchenette hidden in a large closet. The bedroom itself was nice, spacious and well appointed, although in that category, the bed could have been at least queen size —and wasn’t. The real downside is that there was NO WINDOW! The walk-in door was glass but needed to be curtained against the heat of the blazing afternoon sun (and the passing other guests!), and there was a minuscule vasistas around the walkway to the bathroom, but no window at all in the bedroom itself, which made it cavernous and claustrophobic. The room was not in the main building. Not one free power wall socket in sight! Don’t those hoteliers know that their guests have smartphones, tablets, cameras, portable computers, and all manners of assorted electrical appliances that need regular recharging? I had to unplug a lamp in the anteroom to recharge our things. No air conditioning, except for a very small unit in the bathroom, useless to cool the bedroom. The only appliance available was one of those column-type fans that worked more or less OK, except that it was on a 2-hour timer that forced me to get up several times during the night to get it started again! Unacceptable in that price range. The WiFi worked... until it went down, and couldn’t be restarted until the morning. You must avoid this place if you depend on a fast WiFi connection, for example for work purposes. (Read rest of review below)
Cons: The bathroom was good and in general well provided, but there are no red and blue markings on the taps, so you don’t know which way is hot and you’re kept wondering for quite a while as hot water takes that long to come on... Shower products are in quantities adequate, yet not overly generous, but strangely only shampoo and a strange little plastic bottle labeled “body lotion”... but no obvious shower gel in sight! Had to use an old one taken from previous hotel. Finally, the breakfast is good but nothing to really write home about as the hostess seemed to think: for example, no smoked salmon or other fish, eggs scrambled but not otherwise cooked, etc. AND you cannot have it before 9am, which is again unacceptable for an establishment in that price range: not all guests are on vacation, and even those who are may need to have an early start now and then! One last word to the wise: hotel owners and managers sometimes reply to guest advice and critique, and sometimes quite sharply. Remember then that I have no vested interest in saying good or not so good things about the places I stay at, while owners and managers do have a vested interest in selling you theirs products and services...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: very peaceful. super staff who are very helpful and willing to go extra mile to make you happy. a large number of excellent restaurants nearby. rooms clean and comfortable.
Cons: location requires a car and is about 30 mins walk from beach.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Proximity to the beach (20 min walk), swimming pool is sheltered even on a windy day, allowing to sun bathed and swim, breakfast is lovely.
Cons: The beds were a bit hard for our liking. Small room compared to price.

Cons: The rooms are a 4 start level as well as the bathroom , the breakfast and food can improve especially dinner isn’t that cheap

Cons: Not a place for anyone who isn't physically fit It's high on Mty Santa Luzia and 10 min drive from town and expensive to eat at.10 Euro trip each way by taxi and no Ubers
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was good
Cons: The bath towels were old and worn
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stunning views, beautiful building and surroundings with a lovely pool area. Excellent stay!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The view of the basilica and surrounding area from our room was incredible. The reception rooms were beautifully decorated in very tasteful colours and style. Had the weather been better there was an outdoor swimming pool.
Cons: The coffee at breakfast was awful. A self service coffee machine would improve things greatly. There was a nasty whiff of cigarette smoke outside the front door. It was drifting over from the area where the staff smoke. A shame as it lets the hotel down.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location at the top of a hill with an amazing view on the coast, the city and the hills. Beautiful, historical building. Great traditional, regional food and wine and excellent breakfast. Super friendly staff at the registration and especially in the restaurant.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very luxurious and comfortable. Good food. Very good outdoor pool and surroundings. Nearby there is a wonderful 10 km loop walk-in woods. There is a funicular nearby offering regular service to and from Viano. Amazing views of surrounding countryside. Lovely place to relax.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. Nice food though on more expensive side for Portugal.
Cons: Bed quite firm. Our rooms faced car park- ask for church side.
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful view, nice breakfast (except coffee)
Cons: Instant coffee at breakfast, slow internet, smelly pipes. Grounds could be much more pleasant if they were better kept.

Pros: The room was spacious with a small sitting area, very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a selection of food to suit most tastes. The location was good for visiting various places. We left the car at the hotel secure car park and travelled by train to Porto and Viana do Castell. The small stion is five minutes walk from the hotel, with very helpful staff.
Cons: You need to let the reception know your approximate time of arrival in order to have the gates open. After the first time you have your own key.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was spotlessly clean. The pool and the tennisarea was nice. Short distance to Viana do Castello.
Cons: It was very hot and the rooms didn't have aircondition. The hotel has a lot of stairs everywhere -inside and out (also to the pool) - but no railings to hold on to, which was a problem for my mother. On the webpage it says that its handicap friendly. This is really not true, eventhough the host was kind to change my parents room to one on the ground floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very quiet and relaxing 6 nights in the one-bedroom self-catering apartment. Plenty of room for a family of four. We travelled by train (flew to Porto) , the property just 5 mins walk from the station, took a couple of day trips to Praia da Ancora and Viana da Castelo on the cost on spearate day trips, relaxed by the pool the rest of the time. Pool is lovely water-no/low chemicals.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s right next to the santa luzia church and we can have a great view of city and also a beautiful sunset. Everything is new and clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located on the hilltop, just below St Luzia church, is perfect! The hostel is modern, clean, cozy and comfortable. It was relatively calm during July, with very few quests. It offers some amazing views in the evening. I recommend it over the busy Albergues down in Viana.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is amazing experience! The hostel is located on the top of the hill, next to the church and a wonderful view on the city. Very good conditions, modern design and comfortable place to stay and friendly staff! Especially if you are going your Camino, this will be very good point to relax a bit!
Cons: Please note, as the hostel is on the top of the hill, better to buy some food or have dinner in advance, before taking funicular or going up there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location, just next to the cathedral, it's so amazing to watch the sunsets there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location! Really liked the curtain on the beds for some privacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, good facilities, clean and modern, friendly staff. Definitely worth a stay.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a terrific place to stay. The atmosphere due to all the people doing the camino, the view, the shared space. Just super super nice and I really recommend it.
Cons: Just some small quirks, like no bed light, blinking and obnoxious roof lights, takes a long time to get warm water in the shower and the wifi strength is abysmal and something I wouldn't consider working as of now.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is very nice in an awesome location. Clean with lots of space thanks to a big terrace.
Cons: If you’ Doing the Camino it is a bit out of the route, but if you have time it is a very nice deviation (a bit hard to find with google maps).
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A huge balcony with a beautiful sight to Viana de Castelo. The bedroom was tidy and clean and the staff was very helpful.
Cons: I think breakfast should be considered, because a lot of people arrive late and there are no options in the area.

Cons: It can have better breakfast
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location Rooms were new and clean View Balcony
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very central with good private car parking. The staff are lovely. As soon as we arrived, Eduardo came out to the car park and carried most of our luggage into the hotel. He was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, as were the rest of the staff. The older lady in the breakfast room was so sweet and kind. The breakfast was very good, with tea/coffee brought to the table. We got the funicular railway up to the cathedral. The views were wonderful plus there was a wedding taking place. The ferry to the beach was quite quick and it was lovely there. There was a good cafe. It was a nice town with lots of good places to eat. The architecture is great and for a seaside town, it is pretty much unspoiled.
Cons: Storage space was a little limited in the hotel but we managed fine. We got ripped off at one restaurant in the town. It was on a street just off the main corniche. It had very distinctive table linen/crockery - all blue and white. We were given a generous plate of "amuses bouche" which we hadn't ordered and they slapped EUR9 on the bill for it. You lives and learns!

Pros: Cosy & staff very friendly. Good for families with kids
Cons: Nothing we can think about

Pros: Beautiful gardens, big swimming pool, 7 km to the nearest beach. The owner speaks fluent English - what is not very common in Portugal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The most amazing experience if you look for authenticity, history and experience. We were taken by the intro by the owner. Loved the landscape and authentic interior. Lots of bonuses such as a vegan dinner, ride to the city, and.... a warm personal connection. Loved it and wanting to go back for more.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and gardens. Wonderful that we were able to bring our dog.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The history, the property, the untouched natural greenery, I felt like I was in the Amazon yet so quiet and peaceful. The water running from the mountain rock and collecting in various stone pools, the water features, wow! Breakfast on terrace overlooking the ocean was so enjoyable. Take a hike across the road to explore the cross on the mountain! Spectacular views.
Cons: Everything was above my expectations. Small improvement would be to include some ham, presunto (prosciutto) or other cold cuts with breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing, wild, very romantic garden. Great view of the ocean from the top of the garden.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Having a nice breakfast with fresh coffee, tea, juice, milk, freshly baked bread, cereal, yoghurt, cheese, butter, jam out on the terraces with a stunning view was amazing. We had a spacious and private cottage with 2 separate rooms and 2 separate bathrooms. It is a really beautiful estate with an amazing host who is full of stories and speaks (of course Portuguese) French and English fluently. Clean air and wonderfully quiet.
Cons: The showerhead was leaking but we fastened the bolts and it was fixed in no time.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: It is an amazing place, marvelous house and beautiful gardens. Rich of history, so much pottential for various kind of events not only accommodation. Stay in for the dinner too, nice experience although it is vegetarian.
Cons: It is painful to see the gardens being a bit neglected but surely it is not for two people to manage it all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was beautyful!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved it! Absolutely magical place

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff here went above and beyond to assist me in returning my hired car when I had to leave before the office opened. The manager dropped the keys off on his day off and I'm so grateful to him for this. This hotel is not to be missed.. an outstanding place to visit. I cant recommend them highly enough.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful spot located centrally in a cool and quiet coastal town. Wonderful breakfast provided typical of Portuguese cuisine. The staff, particularly Joel, were incredibly helpful and offered us recommendations for what to do, eat, and see in the town and surrounding areas. He gave us a tip for two local sea food restaurants that were the highlights of our entire trip through Portugal! Would definitely recommend.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation couldn't have got a better location. Excellent lunch for a very good price. The staff very friendly, always smiling and willing to help.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, hotel, reception, location
Cons: Would have loved a kettle and cups in the room. Appreciate this is a very English quirk
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nicely appointed large rooms. Pleasant staff and great location. Good breakfast. Lots of choice if you like Continental style breakfast. Scrambled eggs and bacon available too. The hotel also has a small swimming pool and sun terrace but no-one mentioned it when we checked in. A secret maybe!
Cons: Our room faced the station so it was a little noisy but the location is great. Didn't keep us awake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful old character building, tastefully decorated with beautiful rugs, paintings and furniture. Attractive pool area too. Large rooms with big en-suite with bath. Very helpful and friendly check in service. Delicious breakfast with bacon, eggs, fresh fruit and pastries included in the very reasonable price. Very close to the Main Street and old town as well as the vernacular cable car up to the beautiful church on the hill.

Cons: Free Parking not available
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent and always happy and could not do more for you - even the cleaners were lovely happy ladies. The Valentines Night 6 course Banquet was truly excellent and we have had some good meals all over the world but I will always remember this one. The Chocolate Experience massage I had was extremely relaxing and the Museum was well worth seeing with an excellent guide - we learnt a lot. Spent a fortune in the chocolate shop but could not help it the choices were amazing. Viana Do Castelo is also a good place to walk around as not hilly like some towns/cities and has some great restaurants especially Tasquinha Da Linda that has been nominated for a Michelin Star.
Cons: Although our room (The Dali) had a large balcony the room itself although very nice was small so that there was nowhere to lay your clothes when undressing for bed other than the bed itself - the bedside "Tables" that had small tops and no drawers could be changed to help this. The bed in the massage room I was given was very high to climb up on.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel. Everything was ok, great concept. very friendly staff
Cons: The toilet had a glass door
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facilities were nice, the restaurant was awesome and they give you many freebies ( a tour to the Fabrica do Chocolate, a Welcome drink, and a Farewell gift bag.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice style of the hotel, terrace included.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location excellent All staff very friendly and helpful
9.5 Excellent
Pros: I made a special request to the Hotel Fabrica do Chocolate to celebrate a special occasion with my girlfriend. They went above and beyond and delivered a beautiful suprise to both of us. Very friendly staff, room was clean and had an amazing chocolat smell, with a lovely related decor and breakfast to die for. Also you get a free tour of Chocolate factory museum wich is a nice plus.
Cons: Bathroom has no door and even though the toilet is in a glass toilet enclosure, people from within the room will unintentionally hear you. Smell was thankfully no issue.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A nice clean room with everything one might need during the stay.

Pros: Warm welcome from Rita. Clear instructions and advice about the hotel and environs and how to make our stay even better - places to eat and to visit were shown immediately on check-in. Excellent shower and very good breakfast with fresh orange juice.
Cons: Perhaps a plastic undersheet on the bed is not such a good idea. Make sure you have your google search on because it's a little tricky to find.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Funky decor, delicious breakfast daily, great location and friendly staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Ideally located for walking around Viana & we always managed to park on the street nearby. The staff were all delightful & couldn’t do enough for us. On our wedding anniversary we came back to find our bed decorated, a bottle of Cava & raspberries for us! Breakfast was generous & beautifully served.
Cons: A safe in our room would have been good. More storage as we were there for a week & don’t travel light!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room is comfortable and nicely assembled and very quite. It is not too modern to make it a strange place an it has plenty of natural light. Breakfast was really good with fresh orange juice and a large variety of Portuguese cheeses and fresh fruit. Location is great, you can go everywhere on foot.
Cons: Nothing to note. The fact that the sick was in the room and not in the bathroom seemed weird at first but seems a logical solution due to the small size of the bathroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The design. Breakfast, and the staff.
5.8 Okay
Cons: The smell at bathroom
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff is friendly, and it's well located in the center, within walking distance of the main square and of the train and bus station.
Cons: I traveled alone so it wasn't an issue for me, but the shower is in the room, just separated by transparent glass, so there's no privacy, making the rooms only suitable for couples. And I'd have preferred to have the TV off in the breakfast room, especially when it was turned on to a tabloid TV channel with all the most negative headlines (that's not the best way to start the day).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good central location, quite spacious room, very good and efficient cleaning, friendly staff (in particular the owner Dona Rosa-Maria was very helpful and gave us many tips on communications, walking paths etc) and very good buffet breakfast (different types of cold & warm food, fresh juice, cookies...).
Cons: Noisy air conditioning (we could not sleep with it on), property could use some new carpets and paint in some places. No English TV channels. No refrigerator for guests use (a small minibar with a daily complimentary bottle of water exists though).

Pros: The evening meals in the restaurant. The chef did a marvellous job. On our second night there were just 5 people dining there. The next night three large groups of walkers and cyclists arrived and there were 35 people in the restaurant. He cooked three course meals for all non stop.
Cons: The coffee from the machine, you could taste the powder. Proper coffee would have been much better
6.3 Good
Pros: Check in staffvery helpful.location is just off the Camino trail ! Restaurant was ok
Cons: Room was very small and I was given a rokm that was probably rarely used.bed was too soft ! Beside road.needs a renovation !

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Although it doesn't seem from the outside the hotel is very pretty and cozy. The dinning area is very well decorated and the staff super attentious. The indoor pool area was really well decorated as well.
Cons: The fact that the snooker and billiards wasn't included in the stay and also that they only had one elevator.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything... so close to what we wanted and staff where great
Cons: Nothing
5.8 Okay
Pros: The front staff were very nice. The location is really good.
Cons: The sauna was not working properly and when I asked the manager about it and explained that I choose the hotel because of this feature he said that “I did not pay for the sauna but for the room” so basically he did not believe I was in my right to complain. Very rude in my opinion.
