10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful Victorian manor house and grounds with ancient trees in a fantastic location, close to Padstow and prime locations in Cornwall, easily accessible to London by air or rail. Paul and his wife purchased the house and property 5 years ago in poor condition. They have done a brilliant job of restoring the house, sparing no expense or detail to return the house and grounds to their original splendor, and adding 5 star accommodations to the suites. Most importantly Paul is the consummate host, very engaging, personable, helpful, and his presence adds greatly to the enjoyment of staying here.
Cons: Very minor but main entrance was gravel, so luggage could not be rolled inside. But the owner carried it inside for us. That we could only stay one night.

the Pityme Inn - Wadebridge - Building
7
9.3 Excellent (209 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Wadebridge, The Pityme Inn is within a 5-minute drive of St. Enodoc Golf Club and Polzeath Beach.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything about our stay here was fantastic! The location, the staff, the food! The room was spotless clean and cleaned daily, there was even a coffee machine and fresh milk which were replenished daily. The food in the restaurant was superb. Very friendly staff.
Cons: As previously mentioned the rooms are on the car park of a pub so can be a little noisy but all quieted down by 11pm My only other thing was how warm the room was, now we were in the midst of a heatwave and I understand they can’t control this, but there was no aircon or even a fan which made the evenings quite uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed, nice and clean rooms. Staff absolutely great and food in the pub/restaurant was great!
Cons: Nothing
5.5 Okay
Pros: The Pityme Inn was very comfortable place too stay ,but the lack of items in room has let it down , no toiletries items like shampoo, shower and shower cap needed in room , it’s the first time I have stayed in a B&B that didn’t supply , also nowhere to hang our wet towels in bathroom like hooks behind door in bathroom.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The so-called "deluxe" room we stayed in was comfortable even though small and subject to frequent traffic noise.
Cons: The bedrooms are in a pre-fab type building in the pub car park. A busy main road is only 20 yards away. At the back is a kids' playground. None of this is shown in photos, whereas their images of an oldey-worldy inn are irrelevant since this facade is effectively at the rear of the main building and no part of a visitor's experience. All in all a deeply disappointing stay caused by less-than-honest publicity.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The room was stylish, clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. There was a coffee maker, kettle, fridge (with fresh milk) and a safe. Value for money it exceeded our expectations. Breakfast was good and the fish and chips at the outside bar was excellent.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were lovely, could not fault the cleanliness and the interior design. Very modern and high quality. The Nespresso machine was a nice touch with fresh milk in the fridge for the morning! The location is perfect, 2 minutes from Rock and the ferry to Padstow and 6 miles to Polzeath and Port Isaac!
Cons: Staff didn't seem very on the ball but I think this is due to new staff and lack of training. The parking was also an issue when going out for the evening and coming back to a full car park!!! Also, the children's play area was right outside our room which was very noisy but by 10pm the children had gone home to bed so all was well, it didn't continue throughout the night at least!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There was real milk in the fridge and good coffee making facilities (not instant) very comfortable bed, excellent shower, everything was modern and well kept, staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Nothing.
7.5 Good
Pros: Lovely clean accomodation, comfy bed..
Cons: Our room overlooked the childrens play area and was quite noisy, also the room was very hot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The decor, cleanliness, comfort, FRIDGE + PLENTY OF MILK! Big fluffy towels, and delightful gardens.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great food at the inn!
Cons: The accommodation is in the car park by a main road so it was a little noisy early on, but throughout the night it was fine. We thought the presented rooms on booking.com were actually in the inn.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed & pillows, nice towels, good shower pressure, nice toiletries. Good parking on site with chargers for electric cars. Dog friendly. Comfy lounge. Delicious food & good range of drinks. Good size outdoor pool with loungers. Uninterrupted views.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Position of the hotel is fantastic with easy walking access to the front and Paul Ainsworth's pub. This also means the views across the estuary are fab. Golf course nearby is the most picturesque I have ever played (although not cheap)
Cons: Nothing to complain about.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Pool was fantastic. Food exceptional. Room was excellent and good value, staff great.
Cons: Some small parts getting a little tired. Pool furniture, garden furniture.
6.8 Good
Pros: Poor garden maintenance let’s it down and general lack of atmosphere adds up to a mismatch with expectation - with some creativity and efforts it could be greatly improved
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room. Great location. Spacious gardens and warm pool. Good views from terrace. Enjoyed the table tennis too. Welcoming staff.
Cons: Our only criticism would be that the dinner was very ordinary and a bit overpriced. However, the breakfast was good and there are other places to eat dinner in Rock so still a great place to stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: All was good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff responsiveness
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The whole ambience and location and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. Chef did us proud on the one evening we dined there. For other evenings we joined our daughter and her family who are in Rock for their holiday.
Cons: It’s not what I didn’t like, but rather small things that I kept forgetting to mention to the receptionists! For example, two light bulbs that weren’t working. Something that perhaps the morning cleaning and tidying up staff could check daily. The eco-friendly lighting was a very good decision, though I did find the light over bathroom mirror rather dim.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful comfortable room with great amenities. Delicious choice of breakfasts. Great stay.
Cons: Sadly did not enjoy the quality of the orange juice, but that is being picky and did not detract from stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Well located in pretty Wadebridge, Brookdale bnb was a very comfortable bolt hole for our two nights in north Cornwall. The bed was very comfy with lovely soft sheets! The owners were very accommodating with my vegan dietary requirements, and the breakfasts were delicious and filling.

6.8 Good
Pros: Staff were friendly and rooms were clean
Cons: It wasn’t clear at the point of booking that it was a very family friendly hotel.. lots of noise constantly. Our “sea view” room meant we could just about see the sea but the children’s pool and play area were in between. The menu didn’t change much each day, the food was good but not a lot of variety. People coming and going from rooms did not consider those who did not want doors banging and shouting to each other from outside.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location and food
Cons: Room was not the biggest but comfortable.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location.
Cons: The hotel puzzles me. The view is the best part but the restaurant is set back so you don’t see it. The pool restaurant, with the view, closes early and would be amazing for sundowners! They don’t seem to make the most of the view at all. Also, the spa isn’t a spa at all. It’s in indoor pool which is quite dated but a pretty tired sauna and steam room. I was disappointed with it for £260 for one night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent throughout
5.0 Okay
Pros: location
Cons: ROOM NOT SERVICED FOR 2 DAYS DESPITE SEVERAL REMINDERS, POOR MANAGEMENT,UPFRONT PAYMENT REQUESTED FOR ACCOMMODATION ON ARRIVAL (UNHEARD OF FROM ANY OTHER HOTEL IN WHICH WE HAVE EVER STAYED). BAR STAFF INATTENTIVE, OVERALL THE HOTEL HAS A RUN DOWN FEEL ABOUT THE PLACE, MORE OF A 2 STAR RATING RATHER THAN 4 STAR. WILL NOT RETURN OR RECOMMEND TO OTHERS.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beds are super comfy. Particularly liked “proper milk” left in fridge not those tiny capsules
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location. We had the 1bedroom suite with full kitchen and seaview balcony. It was great!! The room was large and airy, beautifully decorated and the kitchen was fully equipped. Perfect for our family!
Cons: The housekeeping staff was pretty rude. The reception staff on the other hand was great. So mixed experiences.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Welcoming desk staff. Food a dinner was excellent.
Cons: No bath in room, only shower-no description on website. Milk had gone off. Not a luxury hotel as is advertised more of a family friendly get away. Not geared towards couples in any way. Hotel was always noisy including next door room with tv. Bar populated by families and their children. This hotel is advertised as exclusive retreat it is not, it’s focused on the masses which is fine but make this clear in your advertising. Relies on location far too much. There is discrepancies between how different guests are treated. Ie people who have stayed longer and spent more are treated like royalty.
7.5 Good
Pros: The breakfast and how close it was to the beach was lovely
Cons: No cold fan in the room

Pros: Breakfast was standard english breakfast with some fruit and cerials. We had evening meal once, an excellent risotto, one of the best we have tasted
Cons: The changing rooms for the pool had seen better days
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The bed was very comfortable
Cons: The orange juice for breakfast tasted weird. Evening meal was fine but overpriced especially the desserts.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location was very quiet
Cons: The brassaire, we booked but the poor young man seemed to be very hard working polite but could of had extra help
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This Hotel and Spa have had serious problems with backers but they are now up and running and the staff are wonderful. We were welcomed beautifully
Cons: Brasserie- it is a sad room with no atmosphere.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Accomodation just few walking distance from the Inn. Perfect location to the neighboring areas. Breakfast was good, menu to choose from.
Cons: Perfect accomodation. Nothing to complain.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast food was limited but good, however the choice and quality of tea and coffee was poor. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Interior of hotel at bedroom at ground level and at the lower levels was 'stuffy', minimal air movement and odd odours. The air conditioning unit in the bedroom probably had a defective thermostat, whatever the temperature set the output was consistent- very cold. No loungers or quiet spaces to relax externally. Very noisy in the pool with the children, insufficient times allotted when it is child free. Signs for CLC but not sure if this is part of their group.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Was very surprised with our last minute booking; the rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious with ait com and mini fridge. The facilities are amazing and the place was amazingly peaceful and quiet. We will definitely return next year. Great base for exploring Padstow and the surrounding area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel, staff and facilities. Cleanliness was not the best with cob webs almost everywhere. Definitely need a car to get out and about, especially with the narrow country roads surrounding the hotel.
Cons: Cleanliness
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, nice breakfast, within walking distance of beach and town centre, free off street parking, nice garden and lounge areas, clean and safe place to stay.
Cons: Compact en-suite bathroom but very clean and good quality. A full length mirror in the bedroom would be helpful.

Cons: Great base to travel the lovely cornish coast nice town with plenty of amenities.
9.3 Excellent

Pros: The central location was convenient. It also provided car parking space. The recent renovations were tasteful and the room was clean. The breakfast options were plentiful with good choices.
Cons: Our room unfortunately did not have any windows which meant we left the door open during the night. I understand that the building is heritage listed but it need this attended to.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Was one of the best hotels I have stayed at in 50 years of travel to 65 countries. Lots of things for in room drinks, freshly made breakfast, large well equipped room, extremely pleasant and helpful staff. 5*.
Cons: It was a 500 year old pub but there was no history available; such a pity. Guests from several countries were enquiring about this beautiful old pub.
4.5 Okay
Cons: Room was quite dingy the lighting was poor. There is no lounge to relax only drink
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We had a massive bed! It made the stay really comfy. Very friendly, cheerful and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast. Great traditional pub hotel. Good value and great location.
Cons: Nothing really. Bathroom let the room down a bit as was a bit mouldy, noisy extractors and sink too small to wash our newborn baby in. But there was hot water, lots of towels and shower was powerful. Car park was a bit hit and miss but we survived it.
6.8 Good
Pros: Breakfast was gorgeus, and the man whi was helping on breakfast very kind
Cons: As we spend the weekend and it was summer we kept the window open and it was to noisy

Pros: The location was great; central to everything. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The size of the room and en suite were spacious and nicely decorated. The eggs Benedict with ham on sourdough toast for breakfast were amazing !! Large portion and delicious
Cons: I was assigned to a top floor above the restaurant which was very warm and stuffy - no A/C - smelled of food and had road traffic noise. There was an electrical wiring problem with the plug for the kettle which shorted out the outlets in the room 3 times. An electrician was working on the problem when I checked out in the morning.
7.0 Good
Pros: Squishy bed after a lot Ng day at sea and driving it was perfect.
Cons: It was very warm in the room. A little dated and carpet stained (probably tea or coffee? Clean otherwise Staff helpful Food just about okay but wish had eaten elsewhere. But to tired. Breakfast ditto but fresh fruit and choice of pastries made up for poor quality sausage. Toast and eggs excellent.

Cons: The rooms are very out dated ...they need total refurbishment. Carpet was filthy and the bathroom was very old and not at all inviting to use !

Pros: Friendly staff for breakfast and evening meal.
Cons: Fresh fruit could have been offered for breakfast. Just a minor point. A quiet lounge would have been a bonus.

Pros: Nice central hotel, also popular with locals in the bar.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful, and we liked the central location. It was good to have an easy chair in the room. The hotel's own restaurant was good, and good value. The hotel was a good base for sightseeing in the area.
Cons: We would have liked more choices of fruit and cereal for breakfast, eg. banana / muesli. We liked the central location, though noisy at times. Parking was a little awkward entailing moving our car each morning.
