Pros. There’s truly not much to write home about, as an employee of Marriott it’s actually disappointing that this location had so many poor qualities.
Cons. 1) gym facility had 5 machines three of them being treadmills. Cardio is important and all but that faculty could use an expansion 2) Covid or not I felt like the staff was very cold and unwelcoming 3) When I would elect to have the shower run the lever to pull was rusted or some sort because each time I would extend it for shower it would get stuck and water would still continue to poor from the spout of the tub.
Cons. The desk clerk
Pros. The metro was next door
Cons. Valet was too slow and expensive, bums out front 7/11, nothing to eat in area
Pros. Unbelievably close to the NoMa/Gallaudet stop on the Metro Red Line. About 30 seconds from hotel doors to metro station doors. All of the staff I interacted with were quite nice. The food at the Bistro is avergae - like it is at every Courtyard. All of the Bistro staff were super friendly and attentive. I was in the "Executive Suite," which is really just a corner room. It had an impressive amount of windows - at least 40' in length. Though really your only choice of views are the train tracks, a street or the ATF building. Other than the weird smell in the room, it was clean. The housekeeper I interacted with was nice and she did a pretty thorough job, in my opinion, for a regular daily cleaning. The TVs were probably bought back in 2006, it looks like - pretty behind the times - if that matters to you.
Cons. My room had a less-than-favorable odor. The windows aren't exactly soundproof, so you can hear enough train sounds to jar you awake if you're a light sleeper. They supply you with earplugs, so they know their windows don't cut it. Also, you can hear a homeless person yelling at others from time to time. The location is super convenient if you want to be close to the Metro. Even though it's just a 30 second walk, you are absolutely guaranteed to get harassed by a homeless person. The 7-11 that's part of the same building is convenient, but there is ALWAYS a homeless person harassing you on the way in and out at the door. There were more than a few "interesting" characters staying at the hotel which made it a little less desireable. I was traveling solo for business and it fit the bill - though if it didn't have the proximity to the Metro station, I would not stay there. I would not bring my family to this hotel - I would not feel comfortable with them walking to the Metro station without accompanying them. It's a hotel where you have to use your room key in the elevator to get to your floor, if that helps with understanding what I'm trying to show here.
Pros. Positives: clean room, nice amenities, friendly staff, excellent location (walking distance to Union Station, shops, grocery store etc.). Great value for money.
Cons. We requested a room with a view and were given a room on the 7th floor, which was nice, except we were facing northeast and there wasn't much too see. It's a trifling issue and didn't affect our stay at all; we still had a great time. Also some minor noise from the trains and roads, but anyone used to city noise won't be too bothered.
Pros. Location close to metro and amtrak station. Bristo had good food and was open late. Hotel staff were friendly.
Cons. Pool was a little hot.
Pros. Close to Metro. Staff was friendly.
Cons. Closet had moldy smell. Sofa bed mattress was stained. Loud, next to metro. Bad neighborhood, don't go out at night. I would not stay here again.
Pros. Valets very helpful and personable Location to train both a positive and negative Fitness center nice.
Cons. Very uncomfortable pillows
Pros. Came in on an early flight and unexpectedly, our room was ready by 11am. Also, asked for a room with a view. Again to our pleasant surprise, we were accommodated with a fourth floor corner room with a great view. Another huge plus for this hotel is the location to the NoMa metro. Made for easy travel throughout DC. Plenty of fast/casual restaurants within walking distance (Moes, DD, Perfect Pita, cafes and more). Only slight minus is the lack of sit down restaurants , but the close proximity to the metro easily makes up for this. Overall, fantastic stay at an affordable price.
Cons. Metro proximity Fast casual food options Room/staff
