Construction and small beds
The Kachina restaurant was great.
When booking I thought there were two queen beds. Upon arrival we had only a king. With our 14 year old son we needed two beds, and that’s what we got, a room with two twin beds. Sleeping two grown adults in one bed was not good. The hotel lobby and some floors were being renovated and we didn’t know that when we booked, only when we arrivedd.
No room at the inn.
Average sized room, pleasantly surprised to find an in room refrigerator and safe. Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows and cozy bedding. Nice updated bathroom and plenty of closet space to store luggage. Good food and drinks located inside of the Kachina restaurant. The Westin has an impressive amount of meeting spaces available with easy access.
My elementary aged child and I arrived in the late evening ready for check in. Upon arrival I was told that they didn't have any rooms available. I had pre-paid for my room upon booking and to say the least not thrilled to hear the news. After 20 minutes of calling, typing, and an additional staff member, my very tired child and I finally got keys to our room. The facilities could have been cleaner. My daughter and were attending a convention, and the carpet inside of the meeting space was FILTHY! The carpet looked as if it had never been vacuumed ever. Our clothes were covered in a weird mix of carpet shedding and other particles that carpet had collected.
Beautiful Hotel
Beautiful room and views. First class hotel.
No laundry facilities for extended stay.
Could be better
Location was great. Staff friendly. Overall clean. We're more middle class so the over $200/night we paid was a luxury for us, but this was not a luxury hotel in my opinion. Attached restaurant has very good food & friendly & accommodating staff.
Free WiFi is a joke. Kept dropping connection & even then it was poor. Had to ask multiple times for things (outlet to be fixed, towels for room). Pool was FREEZING & hot tub too hot. Also you can either be green OR get your room cleaned. There's no in between like new towels but don't have to change the sheets every day.
Positives and Negatives of Westin Westminster
The hotel pubic spaces are lovely and temperature control in-room is reliable.
Food: 2 options. 1. a quasi Starbucks, open 6-2, one staff, LONG lines, very limited food offerings. 2. Sit-down restaurant that is VERY spicy. even guacamole was too spicy to eat. Internet: Was supposed to be free with conference, but every day had to log each day and pick a paid plan, which later was reversed off of my charges. This meant every day I had to call to make sure this happened. Cell service: could not get reliable service in my room (812). Called, about his, referred to an IT service -- who experienced this dropped call thing. Never was explained or resolved. Could only use cell phone outside the hotel, reliably. Banquet service: 2 staff for a banquet for 250? Buffet items not replenished unless requested. Coffee/tea NEVER brought to tables during or after dinner. Why even put coffee cups at the place setting if you weren't going to serve it?
Quick weekend getaway from work being done in our
Location
The toilet ran all night, not constantly but every 20-25 minutes or so it would refill and was very loud. The TV didn't have a guide making it next to impossible to figure out what to watch. The WiFi was not great either. Had to come back down to front desk when we asked for room facing mountain and he made room facing east. Was easily resolved but was time consuming. Should have stayed at home.
1 night stay for the price of two nights
I made the reservation for the wrong night... The night prior to our stay... We were charged for both nights, of course, but the woman who checked us in not only made me feel stupid for making the wrong reservation (like I didn't feel stupid enough already) but she was also very rude about having to find us a room for that night. I felt like they could have given us a better rate for the second night. We won't be staying here again!
A Denver blizzard shut down the airport and all major highways making it impossible to get to the hotel, but they would not refund me
Amazing
