The decoration of the rooms downstairs and the hall ways the room was very small end badly apointed
Pleasant setting with an impressive approach The room was too condensed
Beautiful location and grounds. Stunning main building but not all the accomocation is available in the main building. The hotel is not really set up to cater for individuals visting. It is more of a conference centre. The evening meal was a buffet style with 3 choices and based on what the wedding party next door were having! The ambience of the restaurant was more canteen than restaurant. Having said this, if you asked staff for anything, they were happy to provide it.
Stunning building with wonderful grounds and great breakfast and updated room. Nothing
The beauty of the surrounding countryside and the magnificence of the hotel itself.
Great value for money.
Elegant calm atmosphere; welcoming helpful staff. Really an oasis of tranquility.
The restaurant food was very poor. Bar food not much better.
The overal immpression initially was good. The food was very acceptable although the evening meal menu was rather limited. The beds!! although the mattress in the first room I used looked fairly new it was poor quality with little comfort offered. After complaining in the morning nothing changed so coplained again was moved to another room which had a marginally better mattress.
facilities breakfast good evening meal portions small for the price
Reception staff were helpful and room and bed were spacious.
The size of the room was great. Food was value for money from the bar, the breakfast was good and extensive. Nothing major
Good facilities, good food in restaurant, good room and friendly staff. Good location for shopping in Oxford and visiting the Cotswolds
peace and quiet and the location Choice of dining menu and the cost.
Friendly staff at meal time, plenty of car parking, ideally situated for A40 Swimming pool far too small
Absolutely the best, most beautiful hotel we have stayed at in the UK. Wonderful restaurant and wonderful food as well as service. Keep up the good work. Highly recommend your hotel. No
Comfortable room with good facilities,a very good meal with very effici.ent and friendly service no lift
you felt a relaxed atmosphere, no rushing around. it was great.
The hotel grounds and local area The fact they have a two tier system where guests staying at the Old Swan get dining reservation preferences and their own roped off lounge area that the Minster guests cannot use
Lovely setting, staff very friendly. Lovely meal. There were no biscuits on the hospitality tray.
I liked the helpful staff in the restaurant who worked extremely hard on the sturday evening of our stay. I stayed in room 121 which was awful and i have complained personally to Diane Cornish the sales manager and i have yet to have the courtesy of a reply to my comments.
Setting and location excellent. Public rooms nice Scandinavian type rooms (118) were very very small. Little wardrobe and storage space. Walls were paper thin. We could hear neighbours even when they were whispering and using bathroom! Flight path from nearby RAF base. No double galzing. It was clear the accommodation was geared to single people on conferences/workshops. Massive disappointmant!
Location Staff and service
The reception and cleaning staff were extremely friendly and welcoming The setting is delightful and the food in the restaurant was very good. Our bath room was very cold - no apparent heating and interesting though the high ceilings are, there was a draught. This did not spoil our stay but if the weather had been colder it might have done.
Character hotel. Standard room very small, we stayed in the barn conversion annexe, room was very small with single glazed window which was very noisy. It felt as if we were staying in a beach hut. There was a noise in the pipes which kept us awake most of the night. Also we had to travel to a nearby pub as the restaurant(which is another pub a minute) away was full, priority to guests with bb and e meal.
lovely location, good restaurant
The lovely village location and splendid grounds, the roaring fires and tasteful country house feel. The restaurant was a little disorganised. Four people took our orders and served us and the co-ordination was lacking and the service was therefore slow. Why not allocate given tables to specific waiting staff?
We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The first room was extremely hot, we spoke to reception who offered us another room without hesitation. The restaurant is excellent both for breakfast & dinner. After eating there the first night we definitely wanted to on our second night but forgot to book. So after a day out and about came back to hear it was fully booked being Saturday. However the staff were brilliant and said they would manage to squeeze us in and we weren't disappointed, the steak was perfect along with everything else! Staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds and setting. Will definitely go back.
Comfortable bed and good food Limited car parking
food options, central location noisy room, needs triple glazing
lamb shank evening meal poor. good cooked breakfast.
tea coffee in rooms the 'hot' breakfast was served before we had finished the cereal. It could have been hotter
We were attending a wedding at the Fleece and this was ideally located. We requested a quiet room due to previous reviews about noise from the front, we were put in the annex in a newly decorated room. No issues with parking. Overall this hotel was ok, nothing special. Although the room was newly decorated the bathroom wasn't, there were 2 bad mis-spellings on the towel instructions in the bathroom which summed up the hotel really, lack of attention to detail. Remote control didn't work, bad reception on the 5 channels, really early breakfast (8:30 finish is far too early if you're on holiday), adequate breakfast but a lack of choice.
Staff very friendly and helpful Rooms and facilities perhaps a bit tired...
Excellent evening meal
Staff were helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast
Nice clean hotel and ideal central location in Witney. Breakfast service each morning was utterly hopeless.
I booked two rooms - 1 family room and 1 single room. The family room was spacious and comfortable. However, the single room was not very clean and there was evidence of damp - it was not satisfactory. There was also a lot of noise from the neighbouring bars on the Saturday night and whilst the Marlborough is not in a position to have any control of this it did mean that we got very little sleep until after 4am on the Sunday morning.
Relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff, excellent food.
Comfortable, good atmosphere, convenient for Oxford.
nothing particularly stands out - rooms were comfortable but not special, food was mostly good. Waiting staff were attentive owner / manager has a rather abrupt manner which can be off putting, Breakfast portions are small and do not justify the £9.95 price tag. Cheese board portions also small - I have seen bigger Dairy Lea triangles!
very pleasent room, with lovely fresh cooked food in pub
excellent location, accomodation, hospitality and food The breakfast was very good, but you had to make a choice by means of a menu. You could also limit the choice with a buffet, but the guest would now free to take what and how much he wants.
Food was excellent. Room was comfortable For a superior room, the bathroom needed updating and the room initially was cold
Convenient and very quiet. there were no other facilities in the vicinity so you are a captive audience. As a consequence, the prices for drinks etc were very high.
The dinner menu and the breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly and bar area was traditional. The bed was a bit soft.
Good food, comfortable spacious room and ideally situated near to RAF Brize Norton.
Bed was uncomfrtable. Kettle did not work
Good food and drink. An excellent breakfast. All round good value.
We had a pleasant surprise when we arrived at Rose Revived. The location was supurb, check in was swift, meals there were very good, rooms comfortable and at breakfast there was a good choice. They could have done with more staff on the evening as there was only one person serving and taking orders for meals and the queue was extremely long. However i must say that the meals arrived swiftly.
Lovely setting; Comfortable bedrooms; Warm and welcoming hospitality; Good variety of food.
Friendly staff, excellent food, good facilities, value for money
Very comfortable clean room, nice design and layout on ground floor with pleasant atmosphere. The WC saniflo is embarrassingly noisy.
they had no record of our booking. they ran out of most food on the menu. we had to move rooms in the night due to noise from the pipes.
Lovely location, very pretty building & restaurant/pub area was nicely designed. Good food and friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking, and a river walk right outside (wellies needed in the winter!) Rooms a little outdated, only a bath (no shower) which I hadn't thought to check.
The Staff were welcoming and friendly
friendly staff, clean, relaxing, cosy, great breakfast. Good choice evening meal. All round a great stay. The shower
The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar had a good selection of reasonably priced drinks. The restaurant provided a varied menu and the food was superb. The room was spotless and comfortable. Car parking was restricted
Good location for visiting Oxford including park and ride very friendly staff and food was excellent as was the beer. Perfect location for country walks very peaceful Not a complaint but advisory re kingfisher room, carpet could do with replacing or cleaning and redecoration required in the bathroom please note these things dind not spoil our stay we had a very nice time
Tired fittings in room and main hotel. Private documents of details (names addresses etc.) of previous clientelle left in wall space in room- easily accessed by anyone- somewhat worrying!
Hotel was clean and comfortable. Good choice of beers/lagers. Food very good. Staff friendly and polite. Car park a bit small
The hotel is very central to the town and so pretty and welcoming. The food was excellent we had dinner and breakfast and couldnt fault the food or service. No complaints at all
Friendliness of owners & staff; food good and reasonable.
Sorry - not applicable Main concern - Fire regulations. In reception in morning were floor to ceiling gates padlocked closed, leaving one means of escape. Other points - shaver socket not working, drawer handles missng, hair in cups, furniture looked filthy, 2 hours for evening meal, no staff to serve breakfast until one hour late (no apology) - the running of this hotel is generally sloppy.
The staff, in particular the owner were really helpful and pleasant. The room was amazing and breakfast was great
Visit Palace food and drink cost
Fine old building with lots of charachter. Staff helpful and friendly Very pricy for the room we had which was basic and we could hear clearly all of the activity in the next room. Prices of the mini bar are outrageous-also a dinner of modest proportions came to over £90 for two.
Beautiful setting, lovely surroundings, good food and friendly staff. Accommodation clean and comfortable.
Location nr Blenheim Palace and central of Woodstock; Staff were excellent in dealing with a booking error; room was newly furnished; food was great We booked a four poster bed room; which wasn't available- we'd been allocated a standard room - error in their processing- staff quickly rectified by finding us an exec suite and adding breakfast and £20 off bill; bathroom was very cold - mentioned that at checkout; chimney fire at 5.25am meant that we have to vacate our room in -5 degC temps
I booked the Blenheim package, when I arrived and was shown to the room, was suprised to be given the Marlborough Suite, which was awseome. With a seperate lounge, two plasma screen t.v.,s and a wonderful four poster bed. What a lovely suprise. We used the dining room in the evening, and had a deliscious 3 course meal with wine. What a lovely treat, can,t wait to return, especially as at Blenheim they turned our tickets into annual passes free of charge, so will definatelly be visiting again.
The fact that we were within walking distance to Blenheim Palace. Apart from that we used the Hotel as a stopping off place on our journey south and nothing else. We dined out at another restaurant in Woodstock because we did not fancy the menu at the Bear.
The location is excellent. Right on the main street in the delightful village of Woodstock. There are a lot of super eating places around every corner. We did have lunch on the first day of our stay. Lets just stay that it did not inspire us to book dinner for either evening. Try to make sure that byou do not have anyone sleeping in a room above you - the creaking will keep you awake.
Our room number 6 was fantastic, extremely cosy and value for money.
the bedroom there was a big coach party in the breakfast room we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated and the noise was dreadful with people standing close to our table carrying on conversations. not relaxing at all. this hotel is over-trading on its facilities.
Its position in the town; furnishings of a high standard, staff very well presented. Although many foreign staff all spoke English of a very high standard. I think the costs of breakfast there is excessive, really. The bar area could do with freshening up a bit.
Lovely location on the green, food in the restaurant yummy, and very friendly and professional staff None
the staff were very pleasant and the rooms were well equipped. This hotel was very comfortable and would recommend it to anyone.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were large and well appointed with nice White Company toiletries.
Very good position overlooking the green. The food was excellent and we enjoyed Witney with its mixture of old buildings and new shops. None
Very friendly staff excelent food nice town
Excellent staff whose sole purpose was to make you feel welcome. Restaurant food was exceptionally good. Room clean and comfortable. Parking was a bit hit and miss. If you arrived at the wrong time(ie lunch) you had to wait til the rush left to find a space.
Excellent staff very welcoming, attentive and cheerful. Lovely double room which was very clean. The food was excellent and bautifully presented. Only down side was the noise from the kitchen ventilation system outside the room window but this went off at 11.30pm
Gastro-pub well positioned opposite village green. Friendly but informal approach from staff, reasonable sized rooms. Good breakfast on offer.
The friendliest of the staff and attention to detail was excellent. I stay at many hotels on business and this is right up there with the best.
Fantastic breakfast and staff were very helpful and attentive.
Friendly staff & excellent service.Wonderful food. Real ale was a bonus.
Clean, pleasant staff, good central location on the high street. Room a bit tired looking. Cream for coffee in the room was out of date. Cold room- the heating had not been put on. Facing bins at back of building & a bit noisy when staff were. Putting the rubbish out.
Service was both willing and charming (though no one offered to carry my case). Excellent breakfast. One could read by bedside lights - a rare pleasure! Decor a bit shabby and not particularly to my taste. Comfortable first-floor sitting-room had unused look.
The room, the quiet, the comfortable bed, the excellent breakfast (even though I only ate it once), the accommodating staff (thank you for my early morning latte on the patio). Turning off the patio lights around 11 p.m. (midnight?)..... I couldn't have my late night read outside.... a small thing, but important for me. It would have been good to have a facecloth included with the room's linens.
The food - both breakfast and dinner was outstanding. The best meals we had in our tour of the Cotswolds.
Burford is a lovely town in the Cotswolds. Also the countryside surrounding it is wonderful, especially in Autumn.
friendly helpful staff, good beer. noisy pipework
Staff helpful, friendly and 100% willing to help. Food excellent and great value. superb.
enjoyed dinner and breakfast and friendlyness of the manager and staff - enjoyed the open fire place - hotel was easy to find located a little too far out of Woodstock which meant we had to use the car to visit Windsor central as opposed to leaving the car and walking we didn't realise this at the time of booking - also free WIFI only worked in the bar area not in your room - no real problem but just a little inconvenient
Friendly and helpful staff
The staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough to help. They booked taxi's and recommended local places. The local area is amazing, definitely worth a trip
The staff were t.he best part as they were so friendly and the food was lovely sheets and blankets on the bed rather than duvet
Breakfast was excellent.
There was ample parking, the room was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. we were visiting Blenheim Palace so the Hotel was within easy reach (3min) of Woodstock and the Palace.
Nothing It was a motel with small dowdy rooms attached to a pub. breakfast in the bar. It is 1.8 miles from the centre of Woodstock. Not worth the AA stars.
Rooms, esp bathrooms very tatty. Wallpaper peeling, paint in need of refreshing, bathrooms very tired and tacky. Food ordinary. Luggage service non-existent. Price extorionate for what was offered. Unimpressed
excellent english country hotel food is good but breakfast should be better.
Brilliant range of continental and English breakfast in a nice setting. Really nice staff and good service. The room is better than the five star Randolph hotel in the Oxford city centre, and has a decent size en-suite bathroom. A pot of green tea for two in the afternoon was £6.50 in the back garden, although we had the garden all to ourselves that afternoon. There was no lifts in the hotel but we did leave our baby's pram at the reception.
Excellent position relative to Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Attentive staff and a first class restaurant. Lack of air conditioning in higher level rooms. Hot air tended to rise up the stair well.
Great food, excellent service, lovely room, free Wi Fi connection Far too hot, no fresh air, no mobile signal
Very comfortable room, loved the jelly beans! Bathroom a little cold and no proper mirror.
Good location. Excellent food.
Superb Food Excellent receotion service Room was a little hot
Breakfast Our room lacked a view
The ambience and service All fine
Just the ticket! a very warm welcome, very accommodating, excellent food and in the most beautiful setting. We'll definitely be back. Thank you.
Tally, Scott & not forgetting Andy were really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very comfortable from the beginning to the end of our stay. The food was excellent and our room was very comfortable. Will definitely recommend to family & friends.
The charm of the building, Beer Garden, Location, Breakfast options, Friendly staff. On the expensive side but accommodation in the area is.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Delicious food served in the atmospheric bar area at the front of the hotel.
