Friendliness of staff : Matt, Tom and the very nice man in check shirt with glasses who took our breakfast order; VERY helpful with vegan dietary requirements. Loved the vibe in Kennedy’s on a Sunday morning.
It IS a bit noisy late into night, but tbh we were up for one night, out for dinner, drinks and a girlie catchup, so an early night was not on the cards. And the earplugs were appreciated.
Clean, there were two bathrooms right next to the door, there was useful kitchen area, tea and coffee corner and computer to be used.
Staff very helpful in bar below. bed comfy and shared kitchen useful and well stocked.
States on hotel summery at time of booking that there is parking...THERE IS NO PARKING. Extra expense for us wooden floors make it very noisy-carpet would be better. Nowhere to put anything, apart from bedside tables. NOT one hook in room or bathroom!!!!! tripping over coats and bags with clothes on floor as room Very small tired decor and a bit grubby although "themed" room novel. Had city walls room bedside lights useless!! If you want a good nights sleep you wont get one here at weekends, but they do provide earplugs
Great location. Surprisingly good shower - hot and strong. Good sized rooms. Well-provisioned kitchen, clean and had everything we needed for a night's stay. Room is simply decorated but edgy... shared bathrooms and kitchen wasn't too bad for us in room 2, as other guests were quiet and didn't see them. Cool bar downstairs but bit too cool for me. Went next door to Punch Bowl.
Bed was uncomfortable - springs were rib-pokers. Noise from street wasn't too bad, but the earplugs are a cool touch - and noise died down about 2pm (December xmas parties, and revellers were in full swing). Finding the actual correct door for check-in and doing this via bar is a bit challenging... don't like doing this in such a public forum, as a single female, in busy bar.
Excellent location, heart of the city centre, stone's throw from York Minster. Good Accommodation, clean and decent central heating.
Can be a bit loud at night due to the location.
