Seats were uncomfortable, 6 hour layover in Singapore. I ended up buying another ticket from another carrier on the return to avoid jet star. Cabin crew was rude. I couldn't use my cell phone during the flight. Every other carrier that I have flown on (United, delta, spice jet, jet airways, Air Asia, Emirates, Cathay pacific, Turkish air and many more) all allow use of a cell phone during the flight. The cabin crew specifically told me that the use of phones during the flight was not allowed. I know not to use it during takeoff and landing, but mid flight...really?
Unusual traffic jam in Jakarta caused me and friend to miss our flight. When booking next avail flight we were ticks regardless of why we were late, zero dollars would be allowed. Note flight was scheduled for 8 PM. We left our hotel at 1600hrs for a 20 mile ride to airport- should have been plenty of travel time!
Excellent budget airline! Yes, amenities are cut out, there is little leg room, and it's cheaper to pay for your luggage when purchasing your flight ticket, but this is the point of a budget airline this keeps your flight ticket prices low. Adding on seat choices was only a few dollars more and included a delicious meal. You can purchase food and drinks/water on board. Tip: fill up a water bottle or purchase water in airport gate area before boarding plane to save money. Crew is very friendly and helpful. Flight offered purchase of Singapore SIM card with so many GBs for a great price - $15SGD.
I was charged $50 dollars for the check-in luggage that I was not happy. I booked the airticket very early so I was not sure the weight of my luggage would be. I get used to have the free check- in luggage
so I forgot about it until I did it at the airport.
I prefer the airline to have the charge including the luggage into the airfare than check how many Kg of luggage the customers take at the airport. This makes the procedure of check-in take more time.
Boarding was awful as many people ignored the announcements and mobbed the gate. The crew needs to handle them better by telling them to get in line. I understand it's a part of Chinese and Indian culture to just shove and push your way in, but this wasn't either of those countries. The crew needs to make the passengers follow instructions and act more civilized
Had to pay $60 to check luggage after they said it was fine and when left the counter going to gate someone stopped me and made me return to the counter and pay. Very inconvenient to be told everything is fine then someone stopped you to return and pay looking like you did something wrong...very unattractive and would not fly this airline again.
Would rather pay more for a good airline who will be ok with my cabin luggage than for a less inexpensive airline who makes me feel like a criminal and have to pay extra for luggage.
Flight was short, they passed out beverages. They shuffle you from the gate area in a bus out to plane were the passengers that came in on it are deplaning while the next "herd" of passengers arrive to board. To be expected with these cheap flights.
Overall flight was good, nothing extraordinary, one needs to be alert of time of flight and listen for announcements. They tend to change gates and/or start board with little notice.
AirAsia's website not reliable for web check in and unclear about baggage costs. We were taking a bag weighing 30kg and paid the extra money for it when we didn't need to since we had a total of 4 bags each to weigh 15kg, of which we only used 2, total weight 30kg. They would have allowed the 30kg bag to go for free. Wished they would have made that clear that the weight per person can be used at total/combine weight. Of cours AirAsia didn't reimburse the money for the excess weight that wasn't used. These flights are economical but can hide several extra charges that add up. Beware, and do due diligence before buying.
Horrible, tv not working. I asked for no vegan and they forgot to bring my food. After I mentioned, they finally brought and was vegan! Plane very unconfortable and old. Totally different than the connection place that was way less time on air.
