We have been flying in and out of Haneda the last few trips. We decided to go to Narita this time. I'm glad we did. It was less crowded and relatively easy to navigate for us. We were able to catch a bus to the North to Tochigi prefecture without much trouble. If you are coming from another country, You must fill out the immigration forms beforehand. There is a table set aside for that. Immigrations goes quick. They do facial recognition and finger prints and stamp your passport. Then you get your bags. Fairly seamless.

For that long of a flight, spend the extra money for more leg room if you can afford it and don't waste you money or miles on United's wifi. Shout out to United's new check in/baggage procedure in Denver... It took a minute to navigate it but once I did... I wish all airlines would do similar.. it was fast and easy!!!

Do not take an aisle seat on Boeing aircraft. The carts are to wide for the aisles and so are many of the crew. You will be bumped by one or the other throughout the flight. Poorly designed aircraft.

If you are connecting to a domestic flight in Japan allow at least 2-3 hours between flights. Immigration at Haneda is very slow . They are now fingerprinting and photographing all international passengers. Doesn’t help if you used the Japan website for preclearance or not, same line either way.

Make sure if you have any type of food allergies you let them know ahead of time instead of during your flight. The airline will do their best to accommodate your allergies and they take them very seriously. Economy wasn’t to bad on the way there I would recommend sitting in and exit row if you’re looking for leg room and it also helps to be close to the bathrooms.

  • Which Tokyo airport is closer to the downtown area?

Of the two international airports serving the Tokyo metropolitan area, Tokyo Haneda Airport is the closer to the city center which is a little less than 9 mi away. • Do the Japanese airports have facilities for families?

Yes, they do. All the international airports serving US flights provide facilities for parents traveling with children. • If I am traveling with children to Japan, are there any child seat laws I should know about when renting a car in this country?

There is a national child restraint law in this country that states that any child up to four years old needs to travel in a forward-facing car seat and that kids up to six years old need to travel in a booster seat or on a booster cushion.

  • If I plan on flying to Tokyo, which airport should I fly to?

Most travelers flying to Tokyo will choose the Haneda Airport (HND) because it offers a location that is closer to the center of Tokyo. That said, some of the cheapest flights available from the west coast of the United States to Tokyo travel to Narita International Airport (NRT). Another one of the advantages of this airport is that it offers abundant rail service to get travelers not really into the center of Tokyo but to a number of other destinations that surround this large city.

  • If I want to travel to Sapporo in the north of Japan, what are some of the best choices for flights?

When flying to the New Chitose Airport (CTS) that serves Sapporo from cities on the west coast of the United States, some of the quickest options are the one-stop flights from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) aboard ANA Airlines.

  • What are some transportation options to get from Haneda Airport into downtown Tokyo?

The Tokyo Monorail travels from the airport to the downtown area in around 23 minutes, with trains departing the airport every 10 minutes or so. It was good overall. What I liked most was the restrooms. Compared to other airlines, the restrooms seem larger and look clean. The seats also look clean. The attendants are nice, except one time during the flight. I was sitting on aisle and a man sitting window. He asked an attendant for a snack. She told him to go ahead and get some snack from the section with food storage (I am not sure how it is called). So, I had to get up to let him get out from his seat. Why she did not bring him some snacks so that I would not have to move, I do not know... I was kind of surprised how inconsiderate the attendant was.

JOKE of a company with the most Ridiculous policies. JAL is amazing, KAYAK/UNDERPRICER is the worst company I have ever dealt with, NEVER AGAIN

Overall, a solid flight experience. Boarding was quick and efficient, even with a full and overbooked flight. The flight crew did a great job providing attentive and friendly service throughout. I flew in economy, and while the seats were acceptable, they could definitely use more cushioning, especially for a 14-hour flight. By the end, it was quite uncomfortable to remain seated. Legroom was also limited, particularly with a bag stored under the seat and the passenger in front reclining. That said, everything else went smoothly, and I appreciated the professionalism of the crew.

The flight was delightful overall. The check-in and boarding were on smooth and on time. Amenities and staffs were elevated. However, if glasses were served instead of cups, there should be a complete premium.

Sure I would’ve liked a little more space, but it was better than economy. I bring my own food because I have food allergies it would be nice if they offered larger salads or more vegetables instead of starch it was really a good flight. I don’t wanna complain. I’m grateful to fly at all safely. Thank you to the pilots.

Flight crews are very attentive and polite. Cabin and toilets are clean. Food is above average for economy class. We missed our connecting flights because the first flight was delayed, the ground crews at Tokyo were very helpful, providing all the information and support (including cash for our train ticket) to get us to our destination. Very impressive. No wonder they are always at the top ten lists.

Excellent! So happy that the crew members were so helpful and friendly and able to understandably communicate. They’re very receptive with someone like me, with disability. I love that I did not even have to ask for luggage help like, having to place and take down my carry-on luggage in and out of the over-head compartment. Hope, help is extended to disabled passenger(s) through out class classifications they’ve bought; economy or business class it might be. As a disabled person myself, I’m truly of great appreciation of this kind of help. Means a lot !!! Thank you so very much JAL crew. You out done others on this customer service part of the trip. Please continue to do so. From now on, I’ll choose JAL as my airline whenever I have to fly to any southeast asian countries. And I will disseminate my excellent travel experience with you to others.

American Airlines food is horrible. Also, paid to fly JAL on all segments, but received a much lower quality. I was disappointed to learn that we would be using American Airlines on this flight, which has less comfort, entertainment, choices, and lower standard of service. Overall not satisfied.

Food was very mediocre. Economy is pretty uncomfortable. Crew was excellent and responsive.

Not as good as I expected, I couldn't use the screen to watch movies or anything else because it wasn't 'STEADY' AT ALL, it moved every single time that the passenger who sat on that seat moved, that caused me fell dizzy and nauseous when I tried to use it, so I ended up with only sleeping and eating with no entertainment all my haul flight on premium economy seat, plus the passenger who sat next to me, she just loved to spread her very long hair down on my shoulder, face, arm, sometimes her hair just whacked my face till I really wanted to offer her my hairband!, super annoying 😑 and that my bad experience with that flight.

It was really fast to Tokyo. Much faster than the budget carriers. However a lot less space than international flights.

The ladies are great seats should be a little bigger!

Couple of hours delayed, we had to re-booked our Shinkansen reservation twice. United Aiines need to improve their time!

The check-in started 3 minutes early; there were people lining up a half hour before. I was third, and I got checked in and passes in hand for my connection as well; I walked away from the desk one minute before it was even supposed to be open. Amazing. That said, the food on the first leg of my trip was not good, and I didn’t finish it. Second leg, it was tasty. You get a cup of Häagen-Dazs after dinner. The staff were polite and helpful. Will use again.

Crew was fantastic. Seats were not completely lay flat but still comfortable to watch a show. International food was lobster which was very big but a little tough. The scallop appetizer was delicious. Loved the individual air conditioning vent at each seat. Flight overall was very smooth and very good.

Staff was friendly but couldn't find way to track them down during flight. Food tried to be gourmet but was just too unusual. Business class seats were hard. Even sitting on the pillow, was still painful. Have to give them credit for on-time flights and decent gate area.

Flight was excellent. Transfer from one airport to another airport for a connecting flight was difficult and stressful.

Overall good except the checkin process at Bangkok airport. Can ANA explain why the line for business class is longer than that for economy? I, BC passenger, had to move from BC line to economy line to get faster service.

Matsuyama to Tokyo is basically a puddle jumper flight, so it was as good as one should expect. No meal, no entertainment, and none expected.

The staff is amazing, I cannot stress that enough! The food is really good and snacks at stations to take for yourselves. Economy seating is fine, not the most comfortable, but our friends in Premium Economy said they were very comfortable! Decent entertainment options, but being built in, you have to use their cheap headsets unless you have your own plug in ones. I only have Bluetooth earbuds.

6 1/2 hours from Tampa to SFO on a Boeing 737. Cramped. No Service. No real food. One pass for coffee at the beginning and a second pass THREE hours later. And check-in in Tampa was nasty even by United standards. And I am at almost TWO million miles on United. It's a non-stop. But terrible service.

MY FAMILY'S LUGGAGE WAS LOST FROM ROME TO BARI. I WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT RECEIVED MY LUGGAGE FROM ROME TO BARI. AFTER DEPLANING IN BARI, WE WASTED A LOT OF TIME AT BAG CLAIMS LOST AND FOUND REPORTING THE CLAIM AND PLEADING FOR THE BAGS TO BE DELIVERED THE NEXT DAY. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT TAKES 3 DAYS MINIMUM TO DELIVER. MY DAUGHTER AND MY GIRLFRIEND NEEDED THEIR PERSONAL THINGS AND WE WERE STAYING 3 HOURS AWAY FROM THE BARI AIRPORT. WE HAD TO DRIVE 3 HOURS TO THE AIRPORT TO COLLECT OUR LOST LUGGAGE THE NEXT DAY. WE ARE NOT HAPPY WITH THE EXPERIENCE

We had a delay, but thankfully I made it to my connection. Overall it went smooth

The flight had a delay but I made it to my connection. Flight was smooth overall

As I wrote earlier, poor planning and/or communication. At least twice, we were told that we would be boarding in less than ten minutes, only to have the flight again delayed at least another hour.

This flight is a quick way to get to Chicago, but a bit expensive.

Very comfortable seating and the Flight staff were very attentive. The premium economy section that I was seated in was very clean, updated, and well appointed. I would highly recommend flying United Airlines as this experience was better than the Japan Airlines business class that I flew several months ago.

Our flight was canceled same day and we were never informed. Had to pay more and worse seating on another airline.

Our flight to Rome, Italy was cancelled the day of and we were never informed. We only found out because I was trying to get into my husbands account and called to get his account number. Had to pay more for worse seating on another airline.

My service dog and I were asked to deplane just before they closed the door - clearly very last minute they couldn’t find the documentation that I have filled out many many times before that is for flying service animals. I purposely purchase 3seats (a whole row) since he is large and not all passengers want to sit next to a dog on a cross country flight. The plane departed with my husband on it!!! They made me fill out a hard copy of the same form and had to reschedule me on a later flight where they could find 3 seats together!! I’ve done this so many times before - clearly the error was on their part in a technology glitch - but really people - do better!! Very traumatic - and my husband had to wait for us when he landed ….so bad. Poor pup was confused and tired.

Punctuality is a great factor. Boarding, departing and landing in timely fashion. No hazles and very profesional service in land and during the flight. Great experience.

Wifi never really worked. Flight attendants were generally fine except when they were not very helpful when my wife accidentally spilled a soda (they chastised her to apologize to the people sitting behind when it was dark and we couldn't see anything and they brought one tiny napkin to help clean it up). Seats were uncomfortable for all four of us. Otherwise a typical flight.

Seats in economy might too narrow. people sitting next to each other is always hitting shoulders.

Easy to board and fly, no frills. Yummy ramen on board.

It was for the most part a 10/10 they said they had entertainment options but all they had was old movies for streaming from the mid 2010’s so like 10 years ago

all good for a very budget flight - well priced and excellent service. Will fly again

Couple of the crew members were really nice and the rest are really rude and didn't help when we needed help, food was not worth it at all and most importantly there's no even entertainment system other than a very interruptive and slow internet and some movies.

I appreciate the economy price of the tickets. The long flight made the comfort level on the lower average side. Wi-Fi connection was not consistent but working. Overall, I would fly again with zip air but next time get the flat, premium seats with the amount of money I would save otherwise.

Comfortable seats and lucky no one was in middle seat. No water on the plane. Plane was on time and staff was fast.

You get what you pay for and nothing more. Wanted a cheap flight and that’s exactly what I got, though it’s human nature to wanting to feel like you got a good deal as well. There was none of that here. I was cheap and they were too. Got to my destination safely and that’s all that really matters.

The flight was comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly. However, we did not know we were flying PAL until we arrived in Canada, so it was a bit disconcerting. In addition, which port we were leaving from was confusing.

The Air Canada AC1 flight from Toronto to Tokyo on May 16 was great overall. Service, crew, food and entertainment were all excellent and everything ran smoothly. We had emergency exit seats so legroom was amazing, but the seats themselves weren’t very comfortable and the plane feels like it could use an upgrade for a long-haul flight. Aside from that, everything else was perfect.

They did not let us board because one member needed a transit visa, which was not evident at the time of ticket purchase.

I was charge a baggage checking fee $68!! I volunteered to check my duffle bag which usually goes under my seat!

I did not like anything because the flight was cancelled yesterday and I did not get to arrive on time in Toronto as I was rebooked with another airline. This caused me to be really stressed out as I am an individual with back injury and to be forced to stay longer in an airport to accommodate a change of airline and the transfers associated with it Due to this I am probably not going to book through your website to eliminate this potentially chaos in the future

shittiest airline in the hemisphere. To improve - start thinking you're flying people, not cattle

Easy boarding, inflight refreshments came on time and comfortable seat

It was good that our flight left early. It was a nice smooth flight and landing.

All good……but luggage didn’t make it on the airplane. Had to wait 3 days. Was a bummer.

Small suitcase used for carryon the last time was refused by boarding crew this time. Appears to be at the discretion and mood of the person on the day. Flight was only half booked, there would have been no problem with space.
