Lovely views and not too expensive, it suited us for an overnight stop to see friends No internet in rooms, rooms very small
location to lift was excellent. the hotel was noisey in early in the morning (from 6am !!!)
The hotel had excellent facilities, with the outdoor pool, and indoor hydro pool. Large sunny garden with sunbeds etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were buffet style with lots of choice and variety, and very relaxed. A minor point - would have appreciated an opening window for ventilation, as there were only french doors, or maybe some form of air conditioning, as we stayed in summer season.
Friendly Staff, comfortable rooms. Getting back in the hotel at night!
The layout of the bedroom was cosy due to the wood panelling (although a little cool at times). The food was outstanding and high praise was given to the Chef. The hotel is in a great location; next to a ski hire shop and cable car station. Overall, very picturesque, staff were welcoming and amusing, and fantastic for skiing or walking in the Alps. The whirl pool and sauna would have been better next to each other and no robes or slippers were provided.
Location, kitchen, rate for weekend break We did not find the (young )management very friendly. No smiles, no interest shown. Not the type of hotel that made you feel welcome. Restaurant Staff was friendly and helpful!
Good location for ski slopes right beside cable car to Avoriaz. Clean and friendly. Good food. Rooms tiny-even quad/triple rooms.Dreadful shower. Very expensive for standard of room. Swimming pool/jacuzzi and sauna all separated from each other and disappointing.
friendly staff and a fantastic location, will definitely go back very charming room, if anything just a bit old.
Pretty room, quiet location, no traffic noise, easy access to the mountains. Good quality food for supper. Not a very jolly hotel, with indifferent service. Not acceptable to have coffee at breakfast from a machine. Could only play table tennis if you either brought your own bats or purchased them from the hotel.
great location, quaint family run hotel. a little worn around the edges, but a very pleasant place to stay.
Fairly basic but clean and good value, and the breakfast is good
We were on a touring holiday in Europe and spent one night here after finding it on the internet as part of our route. The scenery was stunning. Found a restaurant in the town called Le Grizzli where we had dinner. The food was absolutely amazing and the staff were very friendly.Cannot praise it enough. We arrived late May which was out of season so hotel was very quiet. In fact we were the only people staying however this did not impact on the service. If we were to be very honest the decor was a bit tired for our taste. That's not to say it would be so for everyone.
Really, really great location with awesome views. 20m walk to the main street of Chatel. Recommended. Basic room. Very friendly staff but had limited english.
comfort and food
Location Breakfast not included
Clean and big rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Close to town center but still a quiet place to stay! Just great! Breakfast was great but not included and pricey.
I can quite honestly say that I was shocked by the standard of accomodation and the food. This hotel puts many 5 star hotels & relais a chateaux to shame. We had a superior room whichprovided unequalled views across the abondance valley, has private parking and is 30 minutes from everywhere if u can bring yourself to leave Chatel, being only minutes from the super chatel gondola. I would like to Give others a valuable tip!! Mr. Macchi has a different plat du jour every day and it is quite frankly astounding value for money as well as rivalling many Michelin star resteraunts I've eaten in. And i like my food!! The staff are great, friendly, helpful etc etc we r already planning our skiing around staying there again.
My husband and I had a very lovely stopover at this hotel the massages were devine and we would certainly return
- warmth of the hotel and its staff, amenities (spa), location in altitude with lovely views, the food... The staff is an example for the industry. - Nothing!
Great welcome, excelent food, very good spa and spa services
Excellent service, nice rooms and spa.
Great staff, very helpful. Everything in good working order. Food was amazing in the hotel, no need to venture afoot, great offer of 4 course meal for 29.99 euro. Great ski facilities such as boot and ski racks. a great 4* cleanliness and smell. Location is perfect, right outside the a bus route Great relaxation facilities such as sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pool. Room turned down wasn’t consistent, weren’t sure if it was every 2 days or when we dined in the hotel. Returned to our room surprised! Room was a little too small for a 4* hotel, should be a minimum size. tv channels were all French or German, would be great to have at least 1 English Channel. Would be good to have locks on the ski cupboards for security. The hotel ski transport wasn’t consistent, first day we were shuttled to Pre le joux the second and third days we were told different things that meant it wasn’t possible and we'd have to catch the public bus. Bedding wasnt changed for entire stay of 7 days. Would have expected mid-week change
Hotel Macchi was perfect in every way. Everything was of the very best quality. The staff were wonderful and the food was excellent.
Frendly owners, nice restourant Wery small rooms and bathroom, drinks quite exspensive
The food was great, the staff were both friendly and helpful. Although slightly dated it was comfortable and charming. We would definitely return with our family. I would advise guests to have a car whilst staying here.
Beautiful location, good facilities and very high standard of food (esp. considering the price
The meal was very good and resonably priced rooms were basic although clean and with very nice views
The views were spectacular, the food delicious, the staff were so friendly and helpful eg was lent a hairdryer by owner as not provided in room. Blankets on the bed and hard pillows
The hotel was clean, food at dinner was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly The quadruple room was too small for 4 people. There were only 3 of us and it was cramped
Very friendly owners, great views from hotel, delicious food in nice restaurant, pool & spa, all this makes hotel nice place for stay.
The wonderful views and the location - also the warm welcome from the owners It is quite old fashioned - not quite in a cosy wood and check duvet kind of way. More the orange carpet, pink painted woodwork and turquoise bathroom. However, bed was comfy and room very clean.
the food,pool and the view
Excellent location, friendly owners and staff, excellent food, rooms with balcony No seating area in room other than balcony
Nice Room, a bit small but everything nice. Great breakfast! Staff even at reception do not speak any other language than French. We are fluent in German, English, Spanish and Italian but could not communicate!
The hotel employees were warm, enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming The food was excellent Not really
very cosy, excellent cuisine ! very nice and charming hotel with spa !
Excellent French cuisine, great pool/sauna facilities, very clean, attentive staff, quiet. Being charged for poolside towels and robes.
Delicious cuisine, lovely 'mountainy' décor, friendly and helpful staff in a pretty Savoy village. The bathroom was sweet and under the eaves, but would have preferred a shower that one could stand up in.... Luckily, we are not tall people!
Great location. Wonderful hotel. Attentive staff. Everchanging, innovative and very tasty food. Very good choice for family and nature loving couples. Convenient location to get to and for local hiking, nature exploring. Many interesting cities and villages within short drive on both sides of Swiss/French boarder. This kind of hotel must have at least some staff speaking english
Friendly staff, clean and cosy family hotel. I was there on a saturday and the hotel was a bit understaffed
Perfect for those wanting to ski in the Porte du Soleil area who do not mind driving to lifts at Chatel/Pre la Joux. Chapelle does not have much to offer and the hotel is on the main road through the village (rooms though are quiet). Very friendly staff and food /breakfast was good.
Location ok, close to Cable Car They didn't speak much English. Didn't change the towels which were dirty and left on bathroom floor!! Only English people there, and the French do not mix well with English. Fact
The quality of the staff was fantastic, I could be there to pick up the keys before closing time, and they simply accomodate me by giving me the code access and a little note at the front desk with a little note that said to not forget the we turn to summer time! Now that`s service. Breakfast a little light in variety but still very good and included!
Good location, Staff friendly, Dinner good, Breakfast acceptable, free Wifi Parking can be a problem, Bathtub+Hose instead of shower.
Good location, and nice staff. The food was very good. We are a family of 5, 3 of whom are young children under the age of 10. We ordered a chocolate fondue and were charged 11 Euro's each - a total of 55 Euro's!! One of the children was even asleep!! This was too high in view of the child factor. I paid, as the 11Euro price was on the menu - I just felt we shouldn't have been charged for 5.
hotel was cheap and cheerful, but staff were 5 star house keeping was poor.no fresh towel's etc
Location was great for skiing. We we're situation very close to many lifts. Thought the hotel was a great find for the money. The breakfast was light, would have liked a better selection. The staff was friendly, they speak no english though, so if that's going to be an issue for you you might want to reconsider.
The meals were very nice and good value. The staff were friendly. The hotel was right next to the ski-bus stop. The rooms were spacious and bright.
We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay. The hotel combines a traditional/chalet-style with all modern comfort (including sauna, internet free of charge) in an intimate design. The rooms are large and cozy. For dinner we had great French cuisine. We would be glad to come back!
Nice view, very welcoming personell
Owners couldnt have been more helfpul if they tried Not about hotel, but booking- question about booking process as thought had paid for hotel but turbned out only deposit paid
Quite large hotel near the Chappelle D'Abondance cable car. Good staff and clean rooms (with very long shared balcony). I din't have time to eat but everything looked OK.
the staff is very nice and hospitilized..good breakfast.nice surounding .fair price too comlicate to find the hotel.poor accomodationsshould air out the toilet.have to improve the notation of the hotel
The cosy living room with fire place.
Friendly, informed, good value, clean with good quality food and service in general - would certainly reccomend and stay again remember to clean under the bed also!
Run by a very friendly and helpful couple in a very relaxed and cosy Chalet style accommodation. Also nice to have dinner there and to relax by the fire. If you wish to go out in Chatel during the evenings, it is best to drive, as the busses stop early and taxis are hard to get.
luxury at a very moderate price! Alke´s (he is the owner) hospitalty was extremely nice. we will go back again.
This is a simple but quite charming little hotel. No renovation can have taken place since the 60's but the owners are friendly and helpful. Even if bathroom tiles from the 60's could be charming, that does not hold true for beds. Be properly tired before trying to sleep in them...
Nice location , great views , room we stayed in was small but quaint. Bath room was small but functioned as needed. Nice staff but either speak some french or just wing it and go with whatever you point to on the menu. We enjoyed our stay here.
