Cons: We were travelling for work and breakfast was only available from 9-10am. Cons: Having requested a quiet room specifically, the room we were given had significant traffic noise Service in general was slow. Extremely inflated prices for poor quality food which was not as described. Cesar salad so salty I could still taste salt the following morning. Mille feille means a thousand leaves (of pastry) in France. It should never but never be made with short crust pastry! We found the hotel pretentious and stuffy.

There was a wedding on and the staff still had time to care for us. The food was good and the dining room lovely. The lounge was very comfy and relaxing. Plus good walks from the hotel grounds, so pack your boots.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: EXCELLENT breakfast and dinner, nothing run-of-the-mill, beautifully presented and always piping hot. All staff very friendly, helpful, and above all cheerful: they wanted to be there and enjoyed their work with customers. Like a happy family! I have a food resistance problem and they were meticulous in ensuring nothing unsuitable escaped elimination; they were also prepared to adapt menus, even though I try to avoid food which might make such demands. Beautiful old mansion with exceptional interiors, all styled appropriately. Grounds picturesque and well cared for, with carefully planned walks and nature trail with information about wildlife. It was our wedding anniversary and they very thoughtfully and kindly presented us with a greetings card from all the staff! We shall be finding excuses to return!
Cons: We noticed that the leisure centre and pool had recently closed, which is sad. But clearly beyond the Hotel's control.

1823 Spinning Block - Clitheroe - Building

Overview Reviews
With a stay at 1823 Spinning Block in Clitheroe, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Forest of Bowland and Clitheroe Castle. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and an elevator.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful spacious and contemporary room and bathroom. Great bar and brasserie. Stunning interior decor. Friendly staff.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good value And afternoon meal in bistro was good
7.0 Good
Pros: The was as expected.room & the breakfast (included in our charge)
Cons: Despite having had at least two emails from the Spinning Block confirming a two-night stay for two people, & the receptionist confirming a two-night stay when checking-in, we received a phone call when out-&-about after the first night stating that luggage had been left in the room after check-out (which we had not, of course, done)! After clarifying that we were on a two-night stay, it was then indicated when checking-out after the second night that payment for the first night had already been taken (though the amount charged could not be confirmed) &, when given a receipt only covering the charge for the second night, we were told that the receipt for the previous charge would be emailed. I'm still waiting for this email & will need to check my card statement to see what has been charged! This mistaking how long we were staying for gives a poor impression of the hotel's booking systems.
7.1 Good
Pros: the Overall experience was good. The room was very nice and we enjoyed our meal in the restaurant.
Cons: The pillows were very very soft and there were no alternatives so I didn’t sleep as well as I could. Unfortunately when we came down for breakfast a table wasn’t made up for us - we had four rooms booked under one booking so was under the assumption that a breakfast table for 8 would’ve been set out for us. The staff weren’t very quick to rectify the situation and we ended up moving two tables ourselves. We then had to ask to order food as no one came over. The breakfast when it did come was very nice though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: the modern rooms are really practical for a short stay. Very clean and well decorated. The bathrooms are superb
Cons: They should have as a minimum king size beds. The staff are not very attentive and breakfast took about 45 minutes after ordering to be served.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was such a lovely comfortable place to be. The staff were so happy which is so refreshing. The decorating was beautiful. Fixtures and fittings luxurious. The food was to die for. Liked menu so much had the same the next day.
Cons: I was travelling with my brother. I booked but you took money out of my account for both people. So left me with less money to spend on my break away.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly staff made the stay enjoyable and easy- couldn't do enough to help. Rooms were immaculate and beautiful. Quiet and cosy at night. Would stay again if in the area.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were super welcoming & friendly. Food was really lovely. Whole place is lovely & clean & room was really nice.
Cons: Only disappointment was that the bed wasn’t comfy at all. Pillows really soft even with two of them. Had a really poor nights sleep due to how uncomfortable the bed was.
5.8 Okay
Pros: food was very good and the staff very friendly
Cons: being in a pub it was very noisy, also the bathroom smell
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The refund and the other staff from the clitheroe pub for helping us.
Cons: The check in was very poor and there was a serious lack of information aka there wasnt any. we were not informed about a secondary external door to access the building at night and to make matters worse our secondary key which werent told what it was for didnt even work in the external door, so at the end of lovely night at a friends wedding we ended up stranded/locked outside of the pub for over an hour and half due to the lack of check in we had no emergency numbers so we managed to google the pub and found they were part of a chain and called one of the other pubs closest to ours and they helped us to gain access to the building, safe to say we were freezing and very upset by the time we got to bed. We will not be returning, the only saving grace was the manager offering us a full refund. What an absolute mess !! We will not be returning :( Btw it was room 6 so if you do stay make sure you check your key works oh btw there are two doors to access the building at night. How could one forget that !!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, food and rooms. I'd recommend the hotel to anyone.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very cosy small hotel which has both restraurant and bar services. Our first visit was 38 years ago and we actually stayed on our wedding night before making our way to Scotland. It has changed a little (there is another building with bedrooms) but has basically kept the lovely feel and atmosphere, with lovely staff. We go back from time to completely chill.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was great, a good selection of cold and hot food. Bedroom was really comfy, stylish, great addition of bath robes! Would recommend.
Cons: The room was very hot, even with the radiators off, window open, fan on. Very warm - and it was really cold outside! I imagine the heating was on in every room, so not possible to cool our room down fully. But, didn't take anything away from our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was lovely. Very nice
5.0 Okay
Cons: Back in the 1980s when I was at a nearby boarding school, my parents sometimes stayed at the Millstone Inn when visiting me. I have fond memories of those times and finding myself in the area for the first time in many years thought it would be nice to stay there. Sadly though the experience was a disappointment. Not surprisingly the accommodation has been updated (maybe several times) since I was last there and is certainly of a high standard, but my room didn't particularly impress. It was a double room, but only in the sense that it was possible to fit a double bed in there. Fortunately I was by myself otherwise it would have been uncomfortably cramped. The décor wasn't really to my taste either, finding the table lamps styled after headless geese (or maybe ducks) particularly vulgar, although I realise that this is a purely subjective opinion. Someone else might find them delightful. The low-point however was dinner in the restaurant where I had booked a table in advance. Presenting myself at the appointed time the waitress mentioned that the service might be a little slow as they were quite busy, but it seems we were on different wavelengths as to the definition of the word 'slow'. When I eventually found a starter from the menu that was still available I had to wait half an hour for it to be served, and then had to wait another half hour before the main course appeared. All the while none of the staff made any effort to keep me informed about the delay, apologise for it, or even ask me if I wanted another drink (something on the house would have been a nice gesture). Bizarrely though, once the food had arrived (just in the nick of time, as another two minutes and I would have walked out) I had a constant stream of staff stopping to ask me how I liked my meal...

Pros: Location Character hotel, comfy bed, nice bathroom, friendly staff, good food, good parking, good walks, nice dining room.
Cons: Early morning trucks on road make lot of noise. Would be nice to have residents lounge. One evening the downstairs toilets a bit smelly. Breakfast - could have more interesting toast and maybe croissants. The Wednesday night fish and chips meagre in comparison to the lunchtime portion.

Pros: Beautiful room and restaurant. Stunning location. Will definitely be coming back.
7.5 Good
Pros: It was very different in the bedrooms. Comfortable. Pub. Luxury meal. Head waiter a bit wierd. Quirky. Not in a bad way. Funny.
Cons: Paid £45 extra each with booking.com than the hotel price. It was not worth £150 per night. The staff were not that attentive. Had to find them to order wine. Also at breakfast kept getting up to find staff for extra coffee and butter. They were very pleasant but sometimes no one there. Would have expected more for the price.

Pros: Dog friendly, lovely food and nice atmosphere.

Pros: They only have double beds I found it hard to sleep not enough room
Cons: Twin beds
6.7 Good
Pros: The breakfast was superb, very generous and cooked/served by a charming chef. The meal the evening before was very good also.
Cons: The bedroom was nicely presented, but the mattress really needed a "topper" as I think it must have been quite a cheap one as the springs gave an uneven and uncomfortable night's sleep. The shower had no power at all, with very little water coming through, very difficult to wash hair in particular
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very warm cosy and friendly staff, rooms where clean and comfy and food was very nice
Cons: There is no issues with the hotel or the standard of service throughout the stay
