The staff were very good, very attentive and polite. The hairdryer in my room kept over heating, there was no room service menu in the room and no nett curtains - my room was over the courtyard so all could see in.
Good sized room Shower tuck time to workout, breckfast buffet was served to you.
They sold Caffreys Pre-cooked fried eggs for breakfast
Impressive main building, with a bit of history. Staff excellent. Quite a walk to some rooms which are far away from reception / main building.
Wonderful staff. lovely feel about the hotel, it had loads of character. water was not working in room and the staff fixed this within 15 minutes. None
the room was very good .the swimming pool was and sauna were lovely the location was ok bar the service was a bit slow
Good service, friendly staff, clean comfortable rooms and excellent breakfast.
I really enjoyed the friendliness of the staff and the excellent dinner and braekfast.... fantastic kippers The water pressure of the shower!!
The Pool and Sauna was very nice. Rooms are spacious. Food nice from the bar and restaurant
The overall atmosphere and help of the staff
My room was clean, had plenty of available storage, very comfortable beds, easy to check in even though the owners were not at home, friendly & relaxed atmosphere, good welcome folder with plenty of local information, books & DVD's provided in the room and a wider selection available in the main building, umbrellas were provided in case of bad weather and a torch was situated at the security entrance. The choice available for breakfast was extensive. A great experience and I would recommend this hotel to everyone! The one slight negative is that the hotel is situated on a busy road so the amount of traffic was rather noisy, however the double glazing did reduce this drastically.
Check out at 10.30am seemed a little early!
staff very friendly and helpful. felt very much at home. food excellent.
Clean and friendly Lovely breakfast Comfortable bed In need of re-furb a little old fashioned In need of update Basic bar facility Cramped parking
It was very clean, nice place and lovely friendly people. Good location, parking and wi-fi. Owner was very nice. Would stay again and recommend. Only one thing but even that isnt a complaint...Decor needs updating, feel like I went back to my childhood but it was still lovely and not at all shabby. Your gran would love it but you will too. puts a smile on your face for how 70s it is.
Good value, convenient location, quiet, comfortable. Rather dim lighting in bathroom.
Very good guest house excellent value for money
Good value for money. Nice homely atmosphere Shower not very special
Very friendly owners. Very clean room with all facilities. Fast free wifi which is a great benefit. Highly recommend the evening meals - good quality home cooked food. Everything was great
A very pleasant b&b with very friendly staff. Sadly no breakfast was available. DVDs and player free use in the room. Small car park
Super attention to detail with many extras and touches normally found in only the most luxurious and expensive hotels. Very clean, homely and friendly at the same time. Breakfast fantastic quality and choice with freshly cut fruit salad. If being really fussy, only tiny downside was slight water hammer from cysterne in en suite for a short while afer use!
Aladin's cave - full of surprises but every last need considered. Lots of fun and friendly warm atmosphere. Breakfast excellent. couldn't find it (not very onbvious). lack of places to eat around the guest house.
Furnishings of high quality, beds comfortable, breakfast fine. Overall obvious effort made to ensure a pleasant experience for guests. Nothing to fault
Nothing. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The manager is the rudest person I have ever met.
it was possibley the best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed in lots of small touches that set it above the average nothing at all
Breakfast was lovely and the bed was very comfy Room was a bit cramped and very hot The shower was useless, decoration needs updating and stained ceiling tiles need replacing
I stayed at Norwood after seeing it listed on the Booking.com website. I was travelling on business and was very impressed with the quality and attention to detail to be found at Norwood. The rooms were immaculate and furnished to a very high standard. Plenty of coffee/tea in the rooms which isn't often seen nowadays. The staff were more than helpful and made my stay a pleasure. Breakfast was exceptional. I would definitely recommend staying here in the future.
It's clean. Beware this hotel does not do evening meals & you are not allowed to take food into the hotel so the only choice you have is to eat out or eat food in your car...the car park is small & found the staff short of a personality & very unaccommodating. I would not class this as a hotel, this is merely a b&b at hotel prices!
Our anniversary was celebrated with balloons on our door with a sign and balloons in our room.it was much appreciated. I was impressed by the style and quality of the interior design, comfort and soft furnishings. None
The Hotel was very clean and we received a warm welcolme on arrival and checked in with the minimum of fuss to a clean, comfortable and well laid out room. We also enjoyed the food. There were none
Comfortable bed, clean room, fairly quiet. Bed sitting area spacious. No drawers or proper wardrobe. No hanging space for 2 sets of towels. Breakfast poor. Staff did not adhere to environmental standards regarding re-using our towels.
Very friendly and helpful staff Clean Good parking Excellent room Comfy bed Good in room facilities Safe - a night staff protected details of my room number when I had a problem of a key (there was another guest in reception) which I appreciated Excellent value for money None
Always stay here when we come to visit family in Nelson/Burnley. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Cleanliness is top notch. Breakfast is great - lots of choice. Would def recommend and always return!! Bed was too soft this time not usually though. Also had a dodgy room door that wouldnt automatically close - we had to make sure it was pulled tight. No big deal in the scheme of things!!
Best place to stay in Burnley. Have previously stayed at Holiday Inn Express Burnley in Jan 2009. Can not fault the place
Clean, modern, good facilities, excellent staff, good food. Evening meal is a little expensive.
the staff were pleasant, and the room was clean & comfortable breakfast was more than we expected
Although the complimentary breakfast was good, the refusal to top up two of the hot items was just odd. There was still an hour of breakfast, about 20 people in the dining room and 5 individual people asked and the staff refused to bring out more of two items which have run but brought out more of the other times. Is there a one tin of beans limit??
Comfortable and functional. Staff were very good Coffee machine not working in main area.
Staff friendly and helpful. Evening meal over priced and not particularly good. Would eat elsewhere is stayed again.
friendly staff friendly, helpful staff. We had a familiy room ok for one night , however it was too small if we had intended staying longer. would definately go for bigger room next time.
The Sparth House Hotel had a very cosy, welcoming feel to it. The breakfast room was intimate and well presented.
friendlyness of staff no
High level of customer care immediately evident at check in, and continued throughout my stay. Clean well appointed rooms and public areas of the hotel.
The wood panelled dining room and the log fires in the lounge. Only having a velux window in the bedrooms.
Staff were very helpful and couteous NA
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed - lots of storage space.
Clean Small room, but we weren't there long enough for it to matter.
The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was excellent and the hotel itself was of a good standard. Our room number 25, the shower screen was stuck because of the rubber seal being faulty. The bar prices were very pricey.
From the welcome when I arrived to the efficiency of the check-out, my experience at the Millsone was first class. The restaurant staff were 5 star.
The quality and choice of food is excellent. The noise of the kitchen fans was fairly bad but at least they were switched off at 11pm!
Small, comfortable room with large comfortable bed. Excellent dining room with good wine selection. Also a wide selection of bar meals and local beer.
There was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was amazing and the room comfortable and had everything you needed.
Returning to this Hotel after very many visits,I found,(as always,)that the room was exremely comfortable and very well appointed. Moreover it was quiet and restful. The great advantage of this Hotel is that it is set in rural surroundings(the peaceful Village of Mellor,),yet is close to the Centre of Blackburn.and is easily accessible from the Motorways.Food is also extremely good. All in all, very good value for money. There is nothing to dislike about this Hotel. The atmosphere is that of a Country Inn,yet combining all the facilities one would expect in a central City Hotel.I stay at it every year on an annual visit to Blackburn.I have never been disappointed.
Good food, good bar with decent beer. Room clean and well furnished, not modern but functional. wireless signal didnt reach to the room
Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was top notch. The room and in particular the bathroom was getting a little tired and in need of an upgrade.
the room was big enough, clean and nice decor. Breakfast was good.Countryside was beautiful. Unable to dine on Saturday night in resteraunt or bar, Should book table when booking hotel. Shortage of towels in bathroom.
Good breakfast Comfortable bed Pleasant hotel Looking a little tired. Carpets have been down for a very long time and could well be replaced, particularly in the bedroom.
The staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms were charming and the breakfasts were fantastic ! We were joined by other members of our family for dinner and they too thought it all superb ! Will definitely go back !
roooms are all indivualy decorated on this occasion we had 4 poster bed in room n/a
Staff freindly and welcomeing, room clean and well equiped, food excellant. None
Good location and a beautiful building. We had a ground floor room for the first night, which we found rather dark, although a pleasant room. We were easily moved to a first floor room with super views of Pendle Hill. A lovely large room. The restaurant was most attractive, with a reasonably priced menu. Good food and friendly helpful staff.
To be honest it served the freshest breakfast I have ever had and I have travelled a lot over the years. Not very extensive in choice but if you like English breakfast it could not have been better.
Food very good, staff excellent, friendly Room rather cold, television not in good position.
Nice & peacefull. The room was cold so requested an additional heater. Although it was summer, Hotels should ensure that the rooms are warm when you arrive.
Nice area. Good parking. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. n/a
The room was lovely with lots of space and beautiful furniture ~ the bar and dining room have the most fantastic ceilings ~ all in all it was a lovely place to stay ~ and we would recommend it to anyone. Long wait for our breakfast to be cooked on the first morning.
Staff excellent and very friendly. Free WiFi. Decent TV and freeview. All offered for a good price. Room was very cold even with the radiator on full all the time. The windows are old floor to ceiling single pane ones and therefore impossible to try and keep the room warm. No radiator in the en suite meant this was even colder.
It was quiet and had the feel of a small guest house, but with far more facilities. A pleasant environment, i liked the secluded feel to the place. Compared with many other places i thought it was very fair value, in spite of some cheap and nasty room fitments. Breakfast was very good, and promptly served even when the place was very busy. The shower in the ensuite bathroom was dire, well out of date and the shower door was broken and would not close properly. Overall, they seemed to use cheap and easily breakable fitments in the room.
Amazing location and fantastci Victorian features Slightly dated decor although clean and tidy
Very willing staff Unimaginative food, 9.00pm too early to close restaurant
On site parking and the rooms were very comfortable and nicely decorated.
Staff always friendly and helpful. Room well equippped and comfortable. Very good value food.
Security Location Free Car Park Friendliness of Staff Decor looking aged. Tv reception very poor. Small bathroom.
i enjoyed the comfort of the rooms and the breakfast was lovely nothing
The bar stayed open late Staff rude. Beds small and not comfortable.
All fine, hotel nice and quiet, even over christmas. Staff friendly Some enclosed storage areas such as drawers would have been useful. Shower quite difficult to turn on.
it was absolutely fine, very tired on arrival and it was satisfactory without any leaving any particular impressions but no problems either
The room. No telephone in the room.
Staff were very helpful and accomodating. Food was fantastic. Would recommend to friends and family and will definitely book again in the future.
The staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. Being a Vegetarian it can often be a problem to get a good choice of food, but I was pleasantly surprised when almost any request for a variation of the menu was met with no fuss at all. We had an issue with the rooms, however, after changing twice we were very satisfied with our room. Yet again the staff were very obliging and we did not feel that we were a nuisance (well I hope not anyway).
Very nice hotel given the area. The original house has been restored to a high standard which gives a feeling of staying at an expensive country house hotel. All the bedrooms are contained in a purpose built annex with modern facilities and it was quiet overnight. Easy to find and only 5 mins from nearest main road junction. Very good breakfast but if not included in the room rate was £14.95 per head which is expensive. Nice lady in charge - pity she could not oversee the evening service as well. We stayed on a Monday and ate in the resturant as there is nothing else much locally that looked worth a visit. Menu - both a la Carte and Table d`hote - offered a good selection. Our evening was let down by haphazard service. All the waitresses were friendly and helpful but it lacked a Maitre D` and/or some basic management. This also applies to the bar. Its just a bit amateurish which is a pity given the cost of staying there and the general ambience of the hotel which is rather pleasant. Our room also needed a bit of TLC. The loo seat hinges were loose and the shower head needed cleaning or replacing. Our room looked like it was last given a makeover about 10 years ago but it was comfortable in a slightly old fashioned way. Rooms a good trek from reception, bar, resturant etc. Also lots of staircases up and down. My wife got lost every time but it would be interesting to see what the hotels policy is if you were disabled or had young children/prams etc as we did not see any lifts. I assume that there are bedrooms at ground level so its worth asking when booking.
The hotel had a nice ambience and some impressive features. The room was comfortable and quiet. My wife particularly liked the Lavender spray for the pillows which did contribute to a good nights slweep. There are a lot of stairs to negotiate yo get to the room.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a disappointment compared with previous visits.
The room was great and well equipped and decorated nicely but got very cold at night ad the bed wasn't very big at all. It wasn't a full double. The main restaurants food at night was extremely fancy and didn't have any less fancy options. The area around the hotel was ok for a night away but not for sigjtseeing. The hotel staff were very robotic when speaking to you and some were even rude. I paid £90 for one night and was disappointed with overall service.
Relaxed and excellent food
The staff were very friendly and helped with restaurants and travel arrangements etc.
Pleasant bar and restaurant Spiders in the bathroom. Very cramped room for 2 people Long up and down stairs trek to the room until we found a shorter route via the restaurant. Very noisy plumbing woke us up at 5am
We loved the room. The bed was a four poster bed and we had a warm and very comfortable heater in the room. The food and service was excellent, the staircase and stained glass windows were stunning and everywhere we wanted to go for shopping etc was very close. More people should be enjoying this beautiful hotel. We loved everything. There was nothing the staff wouldn't do for us as far as service and directions to different venues.
leaving The lack of sleep due to the room being next to the function room. The breakfast you cheap, cold and took over 25 mins to arrive, staff did not care at all. Lack of any kind of staff interaction, had to ask for everything, nothing ever offewred. The room was very old, the roof in the bathroom had no paint on it, all peeled off. Not worth £85 for the stay. Letter of complaint written, no response.
Very Good. Setting very pleasant. Nothing
very relaxing friendly comfortable lovely food location just the place to get away from it all
Very efficient and pleasant staff , excellent cooked breakfast.
It peaceful, quite and very friendly staff. The price and service where very good nit to mention very good room with everything you need. Nothing to complain.
Comfortable bed Room too cold, heating not up to it. Crockery and kettle dirty
Peaceful location The room was cold as heating did not come on until 6pm, had to ask for a heater, a bit poor in November
Lovely gardens and beautifully peaceful & friendly staff Coded door entry to lodge was difficult to use - in hte dark and cold
Clean and very nice views a really nice hotel Nothing
Good beds, good bathroom, decor good out, look great lots of space No lift to first floor was a slight problem
peace and quiet and good food
Fantastic place in a fantastic setting. Staff mostly friendly and helpful. I would come again.
Comfortable bed, nice garden, good breakfast. Very disappointed to find that the advertised free internet facilities did not cover my room. Raising this with reception resulted in the suggestion that I move around the hotel with my laptop.
Lovely looking hotel, small, cosy rooms, nice lounge and garden There was a wedding and we were the only other guests in the afternoon, we were told to talk quietly and not put the tv on too loud as tey were doing speeches, we had to walk all the way outside in the grounds to drink outside and have a cigarette as this wedding seemed to take every nook and cranny downstairs ...apart from the lounge. So they could improve privacy for both the wedding parties and their other guests.
Clean tidy and very nice bathroom The view from the window was onto a fire escape and kitchens, but the hotel was very busy as there was a wedding so rooms were fully booked.
Set in peaceful surroundings , the hotel was very recreational. The staff were friendly and efficient. The rooms were warm and well kept up Not a complaint, but better selection of draught beers would be great
Very friendly and helpful staff, together an enthusiastic team. The food was excellent. Bedroom door lock was difficult to operate - but the staff eventually fixed it.
Quality of rooms, setting you would never know you were in a major city, peaceful, and beautiful gardens, first class My stay was too short!
Warm welcome, open fires, excellent breakfast. Nothing
clean and tidy everywere, friendly staff and the food was lovely. nothing they could change really because its a hotel but just the time in the morning when you've got to get up and out of your room by 11.
We were upgraded to an executive room at no extra charge.
Friendly staff and very convenient for the party I was attending. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment of the food. Nothing fancy, but what you expect from a Premier Inn The room was a little cold on arrival, but there was a heater that could be s witched on and probably better than than those hotels where you stifle! Bed a little firm for my liking.
The welcome was warm, the bed sublime and the convenience excellent.
Requested and got a quiet room. Restaurant food poor, wouldn't eat-in again. Bathroom door would not close, extract fan not working, one down lighter not working in bathroom.
convenience for our party! clean and no fuss at check in
Lovely room and facilities. Plenty of room & closet/drawer space. Slow check, could have been a warmer welcome.
'Camp bed' for my son, he is 10, was horrible. He was awake most of the night and therefore kept us awake too. The mattress was hard and lumpy and it was right up against the radiator. He caught his toe on the radiator and was moaning about it for hours.
Reception staff very good. Accommodation as expected.
Friendly helpful staff & service, clean, quite, excellent breakfast. Bar closed early (10.40pm ) closed
the room was excellant and the bed was really comfy
close to town centre, was comfortable.
Excellent service, staff very efficent and friendly. No bad points.
the peaceful setting not enough coffee on room drinks tray
Cant fault hotel or staff in any way Pretending that the price shown outside hotel, £29 per night, was the actual price being charged at that time. I booked over the net and paid around £56 plus breakfasts. I now understand how your pricing system works. Not too happy.
Man on reception was excellent at check in n/A
Excellent reception, accommodation of requests
We stayed here as we were visiting family for a Christening. We had two rooms and found the staff friendly and helpful. Food was reasonably priced and nice atmosphere in the bar to relax and chat together.
Excellent staff attention, cleanliness of rooms, with easy access to eating facilities, which were of an equal standard We had booked through a third party, who had booked us as staying in a double room instead of a quad room. I had the hard copy of the booking. Reception dealt with it efficiently and politely. Thank you
Restaurant food was very good Room was a bit tired and damp
Friendly staff Tv broken
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food served was excellent. We stayed for 5 days and the evening menu and specials didn't change during those 5 days.
Very good new restaurant
The comfort and friendly service and beautiful decor and heritage
Facilities are fine, its clean and relatively cheap. Service was most unfriendly
The room was large and the decor was oof a high standard The service was really slow, from the wedding breakfast to the bar. Service at breakfast wasn't any better and waiting for somebody to check us out the following morning was the worst.
The room was excellent and the duty manager very helpful a curfew of 11.00pm we couldn't believe that!!
Good value hotel in a very quiet location. High quality food in the Restaurant. WiFi not available in all the bedrooms
could not wait to leave it.
Quite well located for Blackburn and centre. Building very tired and many items broken or not working. Had to upgrade room to en-suite to avoid broken sink. Waited over 20 minutes for breakfast from due start time of 7am and no-one appeared - prebooked and paid for, but had to leave for an appointment. Would not stay recommend this place, as others nearby appeared better in all respects, albeit Hill View is cleverly marketed on the internet.
Clean and tidy Both shared facilities had showers of inadequate operation.one you had to hold in the start button laving only one hand free and the other the shower head would stay aloft due to broken fixture
A basic price, you get what you pay for Poor decour, poor facilities
Really polite, helpful. Breakfast was served promptly and was ok. Nice large comfy bed. Property requires a small amount of attention, I.e shower room could do with a bit of titivating, and my room was next to the night staffs, which meant I was woken by the front door bell which was amplified in the staff room to alert them of clients at the front door. But that aside an absolute bargin of a hotel.
The hotel is placed close to the centre. On my arrival - the room i paid for was not available, so the manager put me into another room and told me to pack my stuff next morning, so they can move my stuff. In my new room - there was no internet available, even it states on the website, that there is internet available. Yes, i needed to go downstairs in the kitchen so i could use the internet.
Very little Room had a strong smell of urine in it
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed, nice view from window. TV had DVD facilities, which was a bonus. Midday check-out time allowed for a much-needed lie-in!
Cheap and cheerful and breakfast in the price as a bargain. Staff were friendly enough. Rooms were good, breakfast was good. For the price you know you're not going to get The Ritz but it was perfect for my needs. Well the breakfast room opened 3 minutes late (!) but that is a very minor quible.
