Located in Kalmar, Kaptensvillan is near the airport, within a 5-minute walk of Kalmar Art Museum and Kalmar Castle. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby and coffee/tea in a common area. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: It is a really good choice in Kalmar, the house is beautiful and the rooms big. Breakfast is top.
Cons: Internet was a bit weak.
Pros: A perfect place to stay in Kalmar.
Pros: All excellent, nothing special to mark on. Close enough to most of things in Kalmar
Cons: Little warm in bedroom, but i guess in a house like those you simply cannot mount aircon.
Pros: Kaptensvillan is located in the quiet and beautiful old part of Kalmar. Our bedroom was very comfortable and tastefully decorated. Our stay was made even better by the friendly and hospitable Zoe, who really showed interest in us and readily provided us with information for exploring nearby Öland. We would come back here without any hesitation.
Cons: A little background music in the breakfast room would help that slight awkwardness of dining alongside the few other guests in the house. The breakfast itself was very nice - some soft boiled eggs would have made it even more perfect :)
Pros: Such a lovely place! Had great time here. Very clear, very authentic, very friendly host. Marika, thank you for accommodation!
Cons: I’ve stayed here too short.
With a stay at Kattrumpans Bed & Breakfast in Kalmar, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Kalmar County Museum and Kalmar Cathedral. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area.
Pros: The whole stay was a wonderful experience, lovely people, mind blowing historic house and garden, great breakfast, really comfy bed and convenient location.
Cons: Everything was just great and lovely! Couldn't think of a single mistake.
Pros: Very central and clean
Cons: This room was right next to the breakfast / get together room. It was very loud since you could hear every word which was spoken. I don't have a problem with an external bathroom but if I do have to pass the breakfast guests with a towel I don't feel comfortable. The bathroom is to small to change in there! It would at least be nice to have bathrobs instead of a really small towel. The first breakfast guest arrived even earlier than 8 am so it was very uncomfortable. Also you can hear the owner in the night since she/he snores very loudly and you can hear it below even so we didnt sleep underneath her/him.
Pros: Great room Very cute garden with tables Heléne is very welcoming and helpful Great location Perfect breakfast
Pros: Nice hostess, very helpful. Cosy building and environment. Very close to town center. Clean. Nice to be able to put sodas, etc in the fridge. Recycling containers.
Cons: Very soft, very uncomfortable bed. Breakfast was just so-so. Curtains let in way too much light at the top.
Pros: It was lovely and comfy
Pros: Cosy style and helpful owner
A stay at Villa Ingrid places you in the heart of Borgholm, within a 5-minute drive of Borgholm City Museum and Borgholm Castle. Featured amenities include a computer station, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and luggage storage.
Pros: It is a classic wooden building with nice atmosphere. In quiet part of town, eg no through traffic. The garden is great, for breakfast or just to sit quietly. Friendly landlady. Free parking right in front. Several restaurants nearby (allthough several were closed already end of August).
Cons: There was no insectscreen in the window; since there were lots of small musquitos right outside, the window could not stay open in evening and night and the room stayed too warm. Because it is a wooden building (= part of the charm) one can hear the other guests. As long as they do not make too much noise, it is no problem.
Pros: The host was very helpful. The breakfasts were fantastic & plentiful. There was plenty of outside to space to sit in the evening. It was just a short walk from the centre of town.
Cons: Too many rooms sharing one bathroom .Our room was under the eaves and was far too hot. We asked for a bigger fan and got it, which helped. We would definitely stay again just not in a top floor room
Pros: The location is an easy walk from the sea and restaurants. The garden out front is darling and the rooms were comfy.
Pros: The location is close to the city center but still in a very calm, friendly area. The garden outside the hotel is a very nice.
Cons: As usual the hotel towels are a bit too small. :)
Pros: Good location and comfortable bed
Cons: This property was significantly overrated to our expectations. * Our room #4 had a cracked sink so water dripped on to the floor whenever the tap was used. * There were 5 spiders webs inside the room with others on the outside window * The room small size and set-up provided no room for an international traveler to have 1 suitcase, let alone the 2 that we had. This meant that we were constantly navigating around our bags. It would only work for a local traveler with a small over night bag. * The room was not clean, there were stains on the walls and nail holes that had not been filled and painted. Paint was peeling off the bathroom heater. The property needs urgent maintenance. With these negatives the property was very over priced.
Pros: Very authentic B&B, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast, nice garden, good location in walking distance to cafés and shops. Definitely recommended.
Pros: Very friendly and nice welcome at this farm house. Excellent breakfast prepared from local produce.
Cons: Some butterflies made it into the bedroom.
Pros: Helen the owner of the propert y was very welcoming and gave us the best tips to get to know the island. The whole place is lovely, comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic. We definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a great experience!
Cons: All good nothing to comment
Pros: Great hospitality, beautiful landscape, delicious breakfast with handmade bread, marmelade and cookies:) Very clean!
With a stay at Gamla Televerket Bed & Breakfast in Borgholm, you'll be a 5-minute walk from Borgholm City Museum and within a 5-minute drive of Borgholm Castle. Featured amenities include laundry facilities, microwave in a common area, and refrigerator in a common area.
Pros: Friendly and accommodating staff, very comfortable beds and pillows, a good shared kitchen and nice shared bathrooms. Very cozy, makes you feel at home. Looking forward to coming back so we can make use of the lovely terrace (it was too cold during our visit to spend long outside).
Pros: The only good thing about this hotel was where it was situated and the restaurant - fantastic food and very nice/service minded personnel.
Cons: Perhaps our expectations were higher and we have never shared WCs/bathrooms before (and will never do so again!!) but the WCs and bathrooms could do with a good scrubbing - they were dirty and disgusting. The rooms were very hot and stuffy.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Planning an event in Borgholm? This hotel has facilities measuring 1076 square feet (100 square meters), including conference space.
Pros: Wonderful hotel in downtown Borgholm. Very comfortable, newly remodeled, intimate hotel with excellent restaurant. We spent two nights in late September on our first visit to the island. Hotel and room clean, quiet and nicely decorated. Beds very comfortable. Very good a/c, but if prefer the windows do open. Room/bathroom well stocked to include refrigerator. Free wifi worked well. Front desk staff professional, friendly and efficient. Breakfast had hot and cold foods and tasted wonderful!! Eggs and bacon very good! Short walk to shops, restaurants and harbor/sea. Plenty of free street parking. Courtyard area and affordable bicycle rental at hotel.
Cons: Everything was nice - no dislikes.
Pros: Good fresh lobby. Nice breakfast
Cons: Noice from AC. Small room. A bit expensive for what it is. Restaurant very overpriced.
Pros: Amazing breakfast with so many options in very high quality, super clean room and nice beds and crispy sheets. The hotel was overall very nice decorated and furnished. It felt modern and up to date. Nothing I could complain about. We got upgraded to a bit of a bigger room free of charge which was maybe also making the experience a bit better :)
Cons: Everything was great - nothing not to like :)
This apartment hotel lies on the west coast of Öland Island, next to a beach. It offers free WiFi and furnished private terraces or balconies. Borgholm is 17 km away, while Köpingsvik is 12 km from Äleklinta Gård. Each apartment at Äleklinta Gård has a kitchen, a seating area and satellite TV. Many apartments offer sea views. Äleklinta Gård provides free wireless internet access in public areas. Other facilities include a boule court, a barbecue area and a children’s playground with swings.
Pros: Amazing scenery!!!! Sunset over the water, relaxed personal.
Cons: Can be a bit tight in the kitchen but worked for us
Pros: Very nice and clean apartment which offers everything you need, very quiet area with beautiful nature, you are in one minute at the sea
Cons: The price is a bit higher, fee for pets for no reason (you have to clean yourself anyway)
Pros: Nice location with the beach across the street. Very nice host who brought a bigger pot, oil and salt after we asked for it. Late check in possible.
Cons: Simple interior, not very cozy but clean. Unfortunately, compared to other accommodations we stayed at, basic things for cooking like oil or salt were not provided. On the balcony, you can only see a bit ocean from the side.
Pros: Location, nice view on sea sunset, extra heating in the room from the owner because outside was quite gold.
Cons: Bathroom might be more cozy
Pros: Quiet location, a few steps from a jetty for swimming. Nice room. The owner was extremely helpful when it turned out we had booked the wrong type of accommodation by mistake.
Cons: Keeping flies at bay was tricky, especially when pressuring food.
Pros: Clean and good equipped apartment, beautiful location
Cons: Room was pretty small, shadow and wind on the terrace all day long, price too high for what you get
Pros: Nicely close to the (rocky) beach what provided us with spectaculair views during the heavy storm we had. Our hostess already turned the heater up, so it was nice and warm when we arrived. On the road to Aleklinta there is a camelfarm - who knew there where camels on Oland!!
Cons: Turned out the main attractions where at the south-part of oland. Definitely NOT the fault of Aleklinta Gard but surely something to keep in mind when you visit the island!
Pros: Great place, I recommend
Pros: The apartment was cozy and just what I hoped for, and the owner was extremely nice and helpful! :) I would definitely stay here again, when I come back to Öland!
Pros: The location is perfect for a stay in Borgholm. Easy access to the city's, easy walk up to see the old castle and the kings summer house. The owner was pleasant and helpfully.
Cons: There is nothing I didn't like about this place.

Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: The dinner which was included was good. The person who checked us in was very nice. The room was smaller than I thought. Very easy to walk to historic old town.
Pros: Excellent location of hotel close to harbour, sightseeing, shopping, cafes, restaurants, Good public parking facilities close to hotel,
Cons: Service - room for improvement! We pre-booked dinner with hotel: Only one 2-course standard meal, 2 days same tomato soup, one main course could not be taken due to health reasons. Requested a simple alternative that was rejected!! This attitude reminded me of a similar incident in GDR! Absolutely unacceptable service philosophy!! Breakfast low quality, but comprehensive
Pros: we got a very nice room, and we saw the sunrise in our room!
Cons: a rod in the shower came loose, almost hit me on the head
Pros: Nice location, 2 minutes walk from city center. Friendly staff. Nice and clean room (sea view). Bathroom OK. Buffet dinner really good (served until 9.00pm). Good breakfast with nice choice. Good hotel overall!
Pros: Hotel's environment, room design and being super clean
Cons: The temperature of room could be little higher
Pros: This hotel is one of our favorites in Sweden. As we have a dog, we always get a seaside room. The hotel was developed from an old dockside warehouse and now is fronted by a small boat harbor and surrounded by the growing university and near the castle park. Breakfast and buffet dinner are included in the room price.
Cons: As I am always nervous about finding parking, I always hope to find a place nearby. (I was lucky this time as well.
Pros: The location was very good just outside the town walls but literally yards to everything you would need. We like this brand of hotel as they offer a basic evening meal with the room rate and the meal we had was very nice all be it little choice - salad bar, soup and fish and veg. We had a water side view with yachts immediately outside the window and a view of the timber dock opposite. Good internet connection and decent number of tv channels (in English!). Plenty of parking (for a small fee) outside.
Cons: the room was a little small but it had all you wanted including a kettle and some tea/coffee
Pros: Good breakfast, friendly staff and location. Due to our train breaking down we arrived after Dinner had finished, but they still served us dinner. Thank you, much appreciated
Pros: Location of hotel to train station was great. Views of harbour from communal space (dining area, bar). Room had an extra lounge area to sit and watch tv or chat. Old style ambience of room was lovely as was new furnishings. Dinner and breakfast very nice.
Cons: Staff could have been bit more cheerful and welcoming. No view of water from room.

Pros: Liked the beds and beddings. Breakfast was very tasty and nutrious.

Pros: Clean and comfortable room. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful host. Location works well for exploring the whole of Öland (by car at least). Can easily recommend, and would be glad to return someday. Tack!
Pros: Very friendly Host! Nice place to stay!
Pros: As we were the only guests when we arrived we were upgraded to a bigger room for free. The hosts were very friendly and recommended good sights on the island.
Cons: Maybe change the dominating air freshener scent in the bathroom.
Pros: Highly recommend
Cons: Food,cosy room
Pros: Clean and stylish cottage. Friendly host. Super! The beach nearby is absolutely beautiful.

This hotel has facilities measuring 172 square feet (140 square meters), including conference space. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
Pros: The room was small for 2 people sleeping separately, but it was sufficient for our needs. Beautiful breakfast. Free all day coffee or tea and a few shortbread biscuits really was fantastic. I will come back to this location again and again as I have family living nearby.
Pros: We had a short stay at Calmar Stadshotell but we would definately come back when in Kalmar. The hotel is located in a very central location and short distance from the centralstation. Opposite to the hotel there is also the cathedral which was beaitiful and a nice surprise. Our room was supposed to be for 2 ppl but it was very spacious and it even had a sofa that could turn into bed. Both me and my boyfriend had a great sleep. The bed was so soft and cosy. There were 2 sets of dumbells in the room but we preferred to challenge ourselves more and get a pass (70Sek) for thr gym which cooperates with the hotel. The gym was so well equiped so for the ones who want to include this in their schedule/routine, go for it!The breakfast buffe was really good with lots of variety. :)
Cons: My boyfriend thought that the water pressure in the shower was too weak but that's just a minor (personal) detail. Everything else was great :)
Pros: Very good hotel
Cons: Scrambled eggs should be prepare from fresh eggs not from powder - hotel is not big enough to have problems with it. Rest of breakfast was great
Pros: The garage
Cons: Based on the inforation and photo's on booking.com I had the impression i booked a nice room in a stylish 4-star old hotel. How big was our disappointment to find a room in a modern part of the building, with a window that cannot open, overlooking the most depressing breakfast room! There was no fresh air with a result that the room smells after previous guests sweat, and the aircondition was switched off, without remote control . Definately not worth the money, and very misleading information on booking.com website. Also, staff pretends they don't know the room (601) has no fresh air, and had to wait 20 minutes for a payment receipt, as if they did not want to give any prove on what they charged... What a disaster! When booking here make sure to ask for a room with fresh air and don't let yourself be charged EUR150 for a stinky room.
Pros: Very good beds
Cons: It smelled sewage in the bathroom
Pros: Location was great. Staff was nice.
Cons: Breakfast was ok.
Pros: Good rooms and location and breakfast
Pros: 1. Vegan options for breakfast 2. Possibility to bring a dog
Cons: 1. Bringing a dog has been charged extra - but no extra service eg bowl for water, food offered 2. Areas in restaurants where you can have your dog with you should be signed

Pros: Staff was extremely helpful when I had to solve some logistic challenge. Breakfast was nice, so was the location near waters and the 20 min walk from downtown.
Pros: The location not too much city and swan lake
Pros: The breakfast was very good and complete. The staff was good. And the room great.
Cons: pity that the sound insulation was not good. I heard the neighbors
Pros: Nice staff. Big, nice rooms and bathrooms. They also have a spacious kitchen and great breakfast for 8€.
Cons: You have to mop the floor, wipe the dust and clean the bathroom and kitchen before you leave. Considering the (not so low) price this is very odd.
Pros: Good room & Perfect breakfast
Pros: Clean, wifi worked perfectly, beers at the front desk, great breakfast
Cons: Shared bathrooms, pay extra for sheets and towels, no restaurant nearby, very expensive, street parking, far from city center, bunk beds
Pros: Comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and toilets even though they are shared, great friendly and greeting staff.
Cons: Rules of the hostel says we have to sweep and mop the floor before we checkout which was quite strange. Bed Linens and towels are chargeable. Walking path from city to hotel has a lot of flies (of course there is no fault of the hotel in this, it is just a caution to other visitors).

Pros: The location. Cozy atmosphere. That you could have dinner there in the evenings. My room faced the hotel's courtyard so it was quiet in the evenings (as no traffic).
Pros: Centrally located, very good quality hotel. Breakfast extensive.
Pros: Excellent location. Possible to park car after 1500 on Saturday for the whole weekend for free in public parking. Very helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Cons: Affordable parking during the week.
Pros: Room very clean and spacious, quiet, excellent breakfast with fresh waffles. Located in the center.
Cons: Underground car park of the hotel very expensive, parking spot around the corner is not free of charge.
Pros: The vegan options on the breakfast buffet was good, could have been better could have been worse. the spa facility was nice, were the only two people there on a sunday evening. rooms were good, super comfy beds.
Cons: Staff could have informed more upon arrival for example breakfast opening hours and such. Asked the staff once but got the reply for the Sunday so almost missed breakfast on the Monday since they had different opening hours.
Located in Kalmar, Hotell Svanen is by the sea, within a 15-minute walk of Kalmar Maritime Museum and Kalmar Cathedral. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Limited parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice breakfast, simple, economy, sufficient. Very friendly staff. Economic room.
Cons: Little long from the town centre for an early train! Luckily it wasn’t raining!
Pros: Good breakfast buffet, clean quiet room.
Cons: There should be a shower in the room for that price.
Pros: Room was extremely small, but adequate for a 1 night stay. Breakfast was good, and there was ample available. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Overall it was acceptable, but users need to bear in mind it is very much a budget Hotel, so don't expect too much.
Cons: The one thing that stood out for me was that there is a car park, but you have to drive over a kerb to get in to it!
Pros: We could walk to the city
Pros: Near the downtown and they had a great breakfast. Staffed all the time.
Cons: Coffee should be free.
Pros: Quite nice hotel, in interesting localization, not in the center, near to the water. Private parking. The room I had was not the highest standard, but it had everything, what You would expect - comfortable bed, small table, chair and place to put Your staff. Breakfast was good, with a lot of options to choose. Staff helfpul. Stayed there only one night, chose it because of the low price, and Im happy about my choice.
Cons: Could not put the heater working. For me it was little to cold in the room and wanted heat a little bit, but the heater was cold all the time.
Pros: The staff, the location, the fresh and clean rooms and facilities.
Pros: ok breakfast, clean, nice view and location
8.3 Excellent (1,151 reviews)
Welcome to the Frimurarehotellet, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western, located in the heart of Kalmar opposite the train station and right next to the centre of the city with restaurants, pubs and shopping. Coffee and tea is always served in our beautiful veranda and we offer excellent and personal service, nice newly renovated rooms and comfortable beds.
Pros: Perfect location
Pros: The location is great right near the main historic square and with walking distance of Old Town, Kalmar Castle and the cathederal. The restaurant in the hotel was good and the breakfast was fine too.
Cons: We were there several days so a dresser would have been convienent.
Pros: I really enjoyed my stay. Kalmar is a small town and I travelled in the off season, so I don't think many people were staying there at the same time. But the staff were so so nice and friendly and helped me with questions I had. The breakfast offered was really nice and had an array of options and things I'd never tried before. I appreciate that the building was old and had been kept in tact rather than gutted. The floors and rugs were so pretty, the windows were big and rounded, and the bedding was fresh and clean. I really enjoyed my stay.
Pros: Excellent location close to the central station and 10 min walk from the castle and from the main museum, also close to the main shopping area. The building is old, and so are the rooms, but cozy nonetheless. It's conveniently located in the same building as Kött och Bar restaurant, which was excellent. Great value for the money.
Pros: Very close to the central railway station and to the centre of the city.
Pros: The old world charm in a great location on a popular square so close to the train station and Kalmar Slott. Very clean and comfortable room, and the staff was very professional, courteous and helpful. Highly recommended!
Cons: Although the bathroom is clean and in order, the design is terrible and not in match with the beautiful old style hotel and rooms.
