10.0 Excellent
Pros: Host was really friendly. Couple gave good information about region and every morning a tasty breakfast with variety of French cheeses was served.
7.5 Good
Pros: very welcoming
Cons: mosquito around outside areas
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We arrived and was welcomed by the owners with a big smile! They were so friendly and performed a high service level! We felt so welcome and the place looks amazing! Even better than on the pictures! We are coming back next summer!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Hosts could not have been kinder and more generous. We had great conversations, and they welcomed us with some regional wine. The host drove us to the restaurant in a nearby village. Breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: We did have some difficulty finding the place with our gps. It was one of the hottest days of our trip, so air conditioning would have been really welcomed. However, with a giant fan it was doable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were going to a wedding not far from here so was a great location for us, the place is absolutely perfect! The rooms are nice, the outdoor area is great with places to sit and relax or there is the pool with sunbeds that we made good use of! There is an area in the gardens to play Pétanque and Per the host arranged a game between us and a French couple staying there which was fun! The hosts are brilliant, welcomed us with a glass of wine and were so helpful throughout our stay! We didn’t have a car which made it slightly difficult to get anywhere as there isn’t really anything in walking distance but Per offered us lifts and helped us book taxis as we don’t speak French! We will definitely be returning for a few days of relaxation again!
La Porte des Cevennes - Alès - Building
2
9.1 Excellent (475 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at La Porte des Cevennes in Anduze, you'll be steps from Cévennes National Park and a 3-minute drive from Cevennes Tourisme - Bureau d'Anduze. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, scenic location, great dining venue.
Cons: Isolated from Anduze and other facilities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s a very baby/children friendly place, has got pets in cages (a duck, a rabbit, fish) and many toys! There’s also a playground with a slide and bouncy toy, which my daughter really liked. Staff is very friendly and always happy to help.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location with a wonderful view from the terrace where breakfast and dinner are served. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay here. Incredible view from our room and the restaurant terrace. Excellent good value dinner in the restaurant. Nice walk from the hotel down to the river and 'beach'. Outside lower terrace with sun loungers was great space to relax after a day of sight seeing (we did the steam train ride).
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room had a fantastic view. The balcony was a great place to relax, great view and great birdsong. They have price reductions for the Bamboozery. The restaurant had a very good range of epicurean options. BUT one had to be carefull because the serve staff were new and the orders required supervision (by the customer). The supervisor for the restaurant was excellent, knew the food, knew how it should be served etc. But the others did not. This is proably the best hotel in this area around the Bamboozery.
Cons: Restaurant service could have been better.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The receptionist was speaking German (our language) - what a pleasant surprise in French France. Check-in was super fast and easy and the room was pleasantly cool upon our arrival on a hot summer day. The aircon was working at all time and gave us a good climate in the room. We wanted to go down to the river and needed to pass through the camping ground so we checked with reception before. They gave us a 'hall pass' and there was no problem at all with this. We very much recommend dinner in this hotel - it is delicious and amazingly arranged into a beatiful display. The waitress was not so good with English or German but managed well - we got what we wanted and an explosion of local aromas on top. The next day we actually experienced the entire evening dinner during our excursions through the Cévennes and are very greatful for that. Breakfast also surprised us with homemade yogurt, local cheeses, oranges to squeeze your own orange juice just on time and a breathtaking view from the hotel terrace.
Cons: We were a little bit surprised that the hotel was quite a bit away from down-town Anduze but I guess we could have done a better research on this ahead of time to find out. It pays off to have your car or another vehicle with you if you want to stay at this hotel and tour around the Cévennes. Unfortunately, WIFI was not functionining during the 3 days we were there. This was a bit uncomfortable since planning of visits into the Cévennes would have been burdensome. We were lucky to have our own mobile internet with us that we could use.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best hotel in a 100-mile-radius around Anduze. Great discovery! Exceptional friendliness from owners and staff. Unforgettable! Splendid view from the restaurant terrace. And the food was first class as well as the rosé
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The very helpful and kind staff. The view from our room was incredible. We enjoyed dinner in the dining room and the very generous breakfast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We do not speak any French so it was good that they understood basic English! Breakfast was quite expensive for what was mainly a continental breakfast but was very nice all the same. Room was spacious and comfortable with lovely view of the surrounding countryside. Bathroom nice and clean. Location was great, 5minute drive into Anduze.
Cons: More hot options at breakfast

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The deluxe room with patio was everything we could have asked for. It was private and relaxing. The bed was extra comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Cons: We stayed for five nights and the menu got a bit repetitive and I would have like more vegetables with our evening meal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pillows and the bed were amazingly comfortable. The whole place was clean and well looked-after. The service was amazing. I felt very at peace here.
Cons: I’ll have to think about it. Can’t think of anything right now. When you have a great view and a towel warmer, you have everything, right?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel grounds, pretty garden, swimming pool and playground for children
Cons: Basic rooms and breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was wonderful. The way the old house has been rebuilt to place a hotel has been made with very good taste. The gardens, the pool, ... give a very good atmosphere. The people also very nice.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, sympathetic modernisation of older building. Seems like one amazing woman does everything!

7.9 Good
Pros: Room very small, modern and spacious shower room. Pool pleasant, breakfast very good
Cons: Room size could be larger. No lift. No coffee and tea in the room, rather basic furnishing.

7.0 Good
Pros: Staff very helpfull and very kind. Confortable room. Good dîner and breakfast.
Cons: I would like for dinner to have a complete buffet with many entrées & main courses, desserts and not only a choice “à la carte”.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: As with all the hotels in this chain the buffet style breakfast was good, varied and plentiful, for those who eat large breakfasts, and the dining room friendly and inviting. Check in was easy and the staff very friendly and helpful. The car park was beneath the hotel and easily accessed. The room was large, very comfortable and so clean as was the on-suite. The hotel is situated in the centre of the town and walking around was very straightforward. We will visit this town and stay in this hotel again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, but too expensive for someone like my partner who only has a yogurth and a cup of coffee for breakfast!
Cons: Entrance of the underground parking is badly indicated. We had to drive 5 times around the roundabout before spotting it.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Friendly owners. Comfortable bed. Quiet garden room. Extra bonus to have parking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely attentive and friendly owners. A pleasure to stay there. Offered good information on restaurants close by. Helpful with extra information such as train timetables etc. Nice breakfast and great location. Nice and simple and very clean.
7.5 Good
Pros: The couple who run the hotel were fantastic. We arrived late afternoon and the lady was concerned that my wife, who has limited mobility and uses a stick to aid her walking, would not manage the stairs. She offered us a smaller room off the rear garden area. Whilst this was smaller than the room that we had booked, it was ok for our needs and the gesture showed genuine care for the guest's requirements. The secure car park was a bonus and the breakfast in the garden was ideal. I cannot fault the owners, they were very friendly.
Cons: The room was a little bit small, but our choice to take it and not use the stairs. The ventilation in the bathroom was a bit limited, so things felt a little damp after two showers. The room was ok for one night but I may have needed the larger room if staying longer.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Hospitality was outstanding
Cons: The bathroom. The door didn't close properly, the toilet leaked and the shower was broken
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location close to the railway station and town centre was excellent. Staff was very friendly and helpful
7.9 Good
Pros: Very friendly a d helpful owners. Safe garage parking for motorcycle
Cons: Broken shower fittings, flimsy door to toilet (didn't shut properly) and very small room off the patio no bigger than a garden shed.
7.5 Good
Pros: Nathalie, the owner was an absolute delight, as was her husband.

Pros: Comfortable and clean basic accommodation. Nothing fancy but no complaints. Great view of castle ruins from the balcony. Very clean sweet and friendly greeter dog.
Cons: Rather seedy breakfast room with cat laying on the table. Did not have the 12€ breakfast so have no opinion on that. The green property around the pool needs maintenance

Pros: Lots of space in the family suite, friendly staff, and good tips for things to do in this beautiful region.

The appartment was spacious, especially the balcony, and the facilties were more than adequate. The location was breathtakingly beautiful. It really felt like a relaxing holiday, staying here.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The space was fantastic. The location idilic and the pool was wonderful and quiet
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Apartment was a very generous size, with a nice balcony. We all loved the pool, and it was a great location just outside Anduze and near St Jean du Gard. Great location near the river, just a shame that the river was too low for swimming when we were there. We visited the local markets and the Bambouserie nearby and thoroughly recommend both!
Cons: Showers needed new heads, they were a bit useless, and kitchen could have done with some more equipment, in particular some sharp kitchen knives would have been good.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very welcoming. No noise around the hotel.
Cons: The mattresses are a bit aged. Could be the moment to think to buy new ones.
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: We stayed in room 115. There was no chair in the room, holes in the ceiling with damp coming through, bugs under the bed, foul lingering smell, large metal box under the bed, smell of smoke throughout the hotel. Asked specifically a month before our stay for a late check in at 11pm which I was told was fine. Then received an email on the night we arrived to say the hotel closes at 9pm. Did not feel comfortable in the slightest. Would never go back.

Pros: The room was simple but had what you needed to sleep for the night. There was a guy working at night because the auto check in was broken.

Pros: The pillows and the bed were amazingly comfortable. The whole place was clean and well looked-after. The service was amazing. I felt very at peace here.
Cons: I’ll have to think about it. Can’t think of anything right now. When you have a great view and a towel warmer, you have everything, right?

Pros: The location was wonderful. The way the old house has been rebuilt to place a hotel has been made with very good taste. The gardens, the pool, ... give a very good atmosphere. The people also very nice.

Pros: Beautiful setting, sympathetic modernisation of older building. Seems like one amazing woman does everything!
Cons: Wifi in French and Italian mountains is always inexplicably diabolical. This hotel is typical of the region
