Pros: Different and unusual. Not really comforts of other hotels but was fun and adventurous. Owner cooked a meal (had to pay) but it brought all the guest together and that was good. Took us for a night stroll. Children will enjoy the atmosphere
Cons: Unless you speak Chinese you may have to resort to sign language. Have to be careful when driving there. Must have GPS
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Basic but definitely worth a try. We loved our little cabin. What makes it unique is the family who welcomes you. Expect a little walk at night, sharing tea and a sunrise early at 1314 lookout with the owners, we loved it! Truly special!
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Discusting
Cons: Not cleam

Pros: Very friendly housekeeper and his family. Giving guests an exceptional travalling experience as visiting friends instead of being accommodated in hostel.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room had excellent windows that really showed the surrounding landscape. It was truly breathtaking! I liked that they made tea after dinner and gave you a chance to try what they grow on the tea farm. Also it was nice getting to know the process of growing and harvesting the tea as well as getting to know the other guests. Arranging transportation for us was also outstanding. They drove us to and from the train station and the bus stops, they knew the times of everything and helped us buy tickets when I forgot my easycard. They are a very caring, they even called us to remind us breakfast was ending so we could make sure we got something to eat! Overall it was an amazing stay and probably one of my favourite areas of Taiwan so far. I look forward to getting the chance to stay here for longer in the future.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Yumingi Airb&b is what I can call a room with a view ... but in the fog. Lost in the mountains, i had difficulty to find it (Google Maps doesn't know the address, but only "Yumingi" !!!), but once arrived ... You enjoy the tea plantations (altitude : +/- 1600 m), and the silence. Nice trails in the plantations or in the bambous forrest.
Cons: The house have rules, and you are informed of them from the beginning ... But once that stage is passed, the staff is friendly. The dinner is something unusual for a airbnb or a hotel : you cook yourself :-) But the tea tasting after dinner makes all be forgotten : a very nice moment together Unfortunately, during my short stay, the clouds were surrounding all the mountains, and i could not enjoy the beautiful scenery.....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. We loved our stay here and would definitely return. The location was perfect for a sunrise walk - bring a flashlight if you want to do the walk before dawn just in time to see the sun rise over the mountain. The food was also perfect and we especially enjoyed the tea making ceremony after dinner
9.2 Excellent
Pros: English speaking. Fast & prompt in replying message. Helpful & friendly. Free shuttle service from Fenchihu( after 3pm) & to Shizhao Bus stop ( from there we took bus to Alishan Forest Area). Beautiful view of tea plantation, sea of clouds, sunrise view point, roof top for sunset & star gazing, a sad that we couldn't catch sunset because of the weather. We choosed the old building. Staying in old building giving the charm feeling of nature & stay like a local, no aircon but for Nov the weather is just nice, not sure for summer. Yes, we need to walk down the hill for breakfast & dinner to the new building but is not a problem for us, in fact we enjoy the scenery along the way. Choose the new building if you prefer convenient, modern & cleaner room. Thank you, YunMinGi!
Cons: Nothing but cleaning the unnecessary items( for quest) around the old building with give a neat & better atmosphere.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We loved the time at the tea farm on the very top of Shizuo Alishan. The people there especially the host father was so friendly and helpful with everything, that planning our schedule was easy (my partner could speak a little Chinese to him, but his daughter (?) can speak English). Unfortunately we booked only one night due to our time plan. So we checked in after 3pm and couldn’t go anywhere else cause it was already to late for other hotspots (Alishan park or Fenqihu). Btw the host picked us up from the shizuo bus station by car. Other than by car it is difficult to get up to their farm. We went a bit hiking and explored the area until we had a good hotpot for dinner at their other guesthouse building. The room is clean and nice. Has a wood smell and was fully equipped. The next morning we went hiking for the sunrise trail and it was great. As we returned, It was not cloudy and foggy like the day before, so we had an amazing view over the tea plantation and the hills and clouds. So refreshing and calming. Lastly we had breakfast and afterwards the host drove us back to Shizuo bus station where we head to Alishan park. So thank you very much for the relaxing stay at your tea farm. It was a great experience. We would have liked to stay longer so maybe we could see and learn more about the tea farm process if possible. All the best for your family!
Cons: A bit too far from everything when you only stay for one night. And only accessible by car. Other than that great!
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The host very friendly and helpful to show me exactly location see sunrise at next morning. First i want to see sunrise at alishan but i very tired and i'm go alone, so i didn't register (500$/person if have other guests sharing 1 car, if not is 1500$/car). He picked me up from bus shiazhao station and drive to introduce me how to see sunrise at near his homestay.that was very beautiful view. I think no need to go alishan up to see it.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hosts Dany & Dora speak fluent English. They were approachable and very helpful in seeing us having a good stay. They gave us pointers on the bus schedules & places of interest. Dany also made an effort to chauffeur us for our dinner and back. Although we spent a day at Alisan, we visited Fenqihu, view the sunrise at nearby vicinity. As we do not have enough time to visit the Alisan National Park, Dany drove us up the mountain to experience some tea plantation trail. Breakfast is from a takeaway with simple food and drink which was however yummy.
Cons: Nil.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so friendly and helpful! Fantastic communication from when I first made my booking, they really helped with local transport and hiking, and even vegetarian food suggestions in area. I travel quite often and their communication was among, if not the best I’ve seen
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable beds and all needed accessories in the room. Thanks a lot to Dora & Dany! Very helpful, sharing useful info about organizing the „sunrise train” and very nice photo spot for sunset among tea fields
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very friendly and helpful with our needs. It's our first time in alishan and they gave us many good suggestion of things to do and places to explore. They also drove us that we want to go to, making getting around easy for us. I communicated with them through whatsapp before and thru the stay, so communication was very smooth with them. The room is cozy and comfortable. Everything that you will need in a hotel is available. They plant, sell their own tea there, so if you like tea, you can taste and buy from them.
Cons: There was no air conditioning, but we didn't need it since the place is already quite cooling. For the breakfasts, they either ordered from outside or gave us breakfasts coupons (to eat at the food stalls at the alishan sunrise viewing place), it would have been better if they cooked it themselves.
7.5 Good
Pros: No
Cons: The homestay is clean and smell good with tea. The location is very easy to find. They was waiting for us when we are coming late.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were very helpful and welcoming, we even got a larger room for no extra charge. They also speak fluent English, which is not always standard in Taiwanese homestays. Breakfast looks simple at the first glance but it is delicious and we were really full :-) Location was good for us as we had a car to explore the national park (it is still at least an hour driving to Tataka / Shang Dongpu), and on the day of departure we were not too far from the lowlands. Also, the price/location/value ratio seemed optimal here.
Cons: Can't think of anything to complain about.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great owners who speak french, English and Chinese. They are full of advice on what to do around and how to organise your day. We shared diner together, they like exchanging with guests and create a nice atmosphere in the guesthouse. Rooms are spacious and clean, there is a water dispenser and a fridge in the common area. Alishan is approximately 35mn away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice people, very helpful. They were so kind with us !!! Perfect place to stay and visit the countryside around.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything is about the owners of this place. Although not English speakers, they were so touchy and expressive, I cannot find the words to describe their kindness. The location has a scenic view, the place is clean and pleasant. Thank you for everythinf
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Breathtaking views, decent rooms, friendly staff. The views of the clouds sweeping through the tea plantations is magical. They also sell tea that they grow on the property (they'll let you try).
Cons: Transport is a little difficult, own car needed or you can arrange pickup from the closest train station. English is very limited so bring a friend who can speak Chinese.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We came to this facility with a group of 10 persons. Hosts are very friendly and hospitable. The dinners that they prepared for us are delicious with very fresh organic material from their garden. Rooms are clean and tidy. We are able to view the magnificent mountain view and sunrise from the facility. At night, you can view the stars and the milky way just outside of your room's door step.
4.6 Okay
Cons: The space is very small, almost no place to move.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were amazing! Uncle Lin loves Singapore and he is so excited to have us Singaporeans overs They go all the way out to make your stay enjoyable and fun. He also brought us around to visit the Laiji village which was the home of the indigenous people and his wife also cooked some meals for us. The view was really good as well. They have an elevated observation deck which gives a perfect direct view of the sun rising above the mountains. Very very beautiful and would highly recommend!
Cons: Nothing much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's operated by a family of 3 and they were amazing. We paid a little (just a little) bit extra and they prepared a BBQ for us for one night, it was really nice. Our quadruple rooms were really big. Do bring your own towel though, because they only have disposable ones and they are not very nice to use. Breathtaking views from outside your room if it's on the 2nd floor. And there were fireflies everywhere at night (April)! Did I mention the owner is a retired remedial masseur, pretty handy after long drives!
Cons: No credit card facility, cash only.

Pros: Super peaceful and quite, owner made some nice tea for us and offered us an outdoor space to make more tea if we want to. We got lucky with the weather so we had a really breathtaking view of the mountains.

7.9 Good

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was good as the hotel was in Alishan national park area and not too far from the train station and park trails. There were also some good photo spots around the hotel. Hotel was a little hard to find due to fog when i arrived but there were many helpful locals who kindly pointed me along. Breakfast was in a restaurant outside the hotel, its not too far really and theres sufficient variety of local food. The staff who checked me in was really friendly and gave suggestions on what to do, where to eat and directions! If you have two mornings for sunrise, you can try to catch sunrise at Zhushan by train (if you manage to get the train ticket) and catch sunrise from Yushan the next day via a pre-arranged tour with the hotel. Zhushan was foggy on the first morning but managed to see a nice sunrise from Yushan the next day(apparently the viewing point is lower)! Also, the tour cost the same as the 2-way train tickets. In general, the room size was acceptable, clean and the bed was comfy. There's also a bath tub in the room so you can have a hot soak if you are feeling really cold and there are heaters in the room too!
Cons: Sound proofing wasnt great as you can hear people walking and talking outside. Also, there were no lifts too so you have to carry your luggages if you are staying on the upper floors. Nevertheless, its a comfortable and convenient place for a short stay if you are not expecting a 5 star hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: The bedroom is comfortable with the window view. But no room heater.
Cons: The toilet stinks. I think it's the drainage problem.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Heater in the room not working well
Cons: Toilet or shower room too small even in the deluxe quadruple room
6.0 Good
Pros: Great location, even provide jacket for customers to rent.
Cons: The room little bit small but feel cozy
7.5 Good
Pros: Affordable accommodation within the recreation area.
Cons: No elevator for this 3 storey building.
7.1 Good
Pros: The hotel staff was kind to provide information and direction throughout the trip. Free 2-ways transport from bus station near 7-11 to hotel were also provided. Free refill for hot and cold water. The breakfast provided is not in the hotel itself, need to walk to other restaurant to have it, breakfast is typical buffet Taiwanese breakfast style.
Cons: Stayed one night there to catch the Alishan sunrise. We were disappointing when we took the hotel’s arranged transport to 玉山 to watch for sunrise for $TWD300 two ways. The van only arrived to sunrise spot when the sky has already turned bright, sun arised but too bad was blocked by sea of clouds. In overall, nothing much about the hotel, just a small simple room for us to sleep. Dont have curtain to prevent water spill around the bathroom floor when showering. Bathroom moldy and smelled a bit.
7.1 Good
Pros: It's located right in the national park itself. I had the japanese room and it was equipped with just the right amenities.
Cons: Breakfast could've been better and the hotel has definitely seen better days.
5.0 Okay
Pros: I only expected basic accommodation and that's exactly what it was. Should I stay in Alishan over night again, I would try a different hotel. Not too far too walk to the train and bus stop.
Cons: Looks better on the outside than inside, where it seems a bit old and could use a more modern style. Mattress is way too soft, felt almost like lying on a waterbed. Two spiders dangling on the wall over the bed building a web. Bathroom has a decent size but just feels old.
6.3 Good
Pros: Hotel is located in Alishan Recreation Area so it was easy to move around. Staff was very helpful. You can leave your luggage after check out.
Cons: The hotel reception area is ok, but the rest of it, especially rooms needs general renovation. There was mold on tiles in bathroom, no shower curtain so you had to take a shover in squat position. Standard room was very small.
