Cons: The hotel is great when it isn't full. However, the walls are pretty thin and we could hear the people above us and next to us. Thankfully it was tolerable. The location is good, the bed is comfortable and the room was clean.
Pros: It wasn't very modern and looked like no one has ever been in the rooms before.
Pros: Hotel is new, location and staff are great.
Cons: The indoor pool is a bit on the small side.
Pros: Room, food and swimming pool
Pros: The nice staff and the newness of the building.
Pros: Everything! Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was incredible and the workout room was excellent.
Cons: Pool was a little small but that wasn't any big deal.
Pros: It is brand new! The room was so quiet.
Pros: Hotel is very neat, and looks like a newly built/renovated.
Pros: This was my first time staying at this hotel and the staff went out of there way to make our stay the best stay possible.. great views, great enviorment.. will and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Pros: large, clean bed; very clean room at end of hall. Very quiet. Recently renovated, so stuff is nice. Excellent water pressure in shower. WiFi and breakfast. I will return.
Cons: everything there was great.
Pros: Very nice customer service
Cons: The room assigned when we checked in was not cleaned. Bed was in made. I was afraid that someone was in there when I walked in. We were given an upgrade to a suite which was very nice. I booked 2 rooms because only king rooms were available at booking. With the upgrade, my son and daughter in law could have stayed with us.
Pros: The soup bar and beauty of the room.
Cons: I was not told at time of our reservation that there was no smoking in the rooms.
Pros: The in-house 'store' where one could buy snacks and a few personal items.
Cons: Sunday Continenntal Breakfast was a disaster! There weren't enough chairs for everyone and two ladies almost got in a fight over one. People were sitting on the floor.
Pros: The staff is ever vigilant in doing what is necessary to insure one's stay is pleasant. The suites are modern and spacious.
Cons: The bathroom lighting is not very bright, and the fan sounds not unlike a Boeing 737 at full throttle for take off. The AC fan blows directly on the bed -- which some might prefer, but I found uncomfortable.
Pros: The hotel staff was outstanding!
Pros: The hotel was new, clean, and comfortable. The good news was that I did not need to use the ventilation system. Outside access fans drive me crazy.
Cons: This hotel should not be listed as Altoona, Pennsylvania. It was located about 20 minutes from the city center.
The location of the hotel was close to the Thruway and that's a plus.
Pros: The rooms were clean and well kept.
Cons: The breakfast area was small.
Pros: Staff and General Manager let me out of my agreement with them. The hotel is a newer attractive looking at the edge of town.
Cons: Silver fish in refrigerator-Black mold in bathtub. They showed me 3 rooms and they all had black mold in the bathtub. One even had mold on the base of the wall. I am allergic to mold and I started feeling sick.
Pros: rooms were very very nice
Cons: one elevator, small dining area, small pool
Pros: Awesome large rooms, great breakfast, pleasant staff
Cons: No amenities around the hotel, internet sketchy, small pool, but none of this took away from the fact that the rooms, staff, and overall experience was terrific!
Pros: Large, spacious, comfortable rooms, Awesome breakfast, pleasant and accommodating staff.Comfy beds, great pillows, easy access to I-99, microwave and fridge in room.
Cons: Tiny little pool, internet sketchy sometimes
Pros: Beautiful room and a comfortable bathroom.
Cons: Out of town. While there was one diamond in the rough restaurant (an Italian place two miles away), no other attractions are close.
Pros: I stayed in a King Suite. It was newly renovated and had amenities not normally found in hotels. My whole experience was awesome and I would definitely stay here again in the future.
Pros: Was an older hotel, but seems they are renovating. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable and the breakfast in the morning was awesome!! GREAT room for the price! Lots of little extras, which really make a difference :)
Pros: I like this room design. look great
Cons: some staff are not friendly
Pros: The room was immaculately cleaned. High/Low dusting was done including the ceiling vent covers. Rare to see this level of cleanliness nowadays.
Cons: The bathroom was dated. Strangely the floor was replaced with modern slate tiles but everything else was circa 1980.
Pros: Check in was a breeze with a staff which was great to meet at 11:30 at night with a good attitude and again in the morning , good breakfast and easy check out .
Cons: Not at all.
Pros: I had a late check in so the granola bar and the always available coffee was a great touch
Cons: The shower in my room is a little dated but it works fine so that is only a minor thing.
Cons: Beds were not at a 2.5 star level
Pros: absolutely loved the bed most comfortable bed I have ever slept in .The amenities offered were great also.
Pros: The people at the front desk they were wonderful
Pros: Nice location and a great staff
Cons: Long walk to rooms
Pros: Staff was outstanding. Beds were very comfortable. Printer in the room was a great touch. The hotel is updating currently. Breakfast was excellent for a free amenity. Very happy with our stay.
Pros: The staff was great, it was a last minute trip I booked online. I called the front desk the morning of our arrival to see if I could get my two rooms adjoining (we have a large family) and they had to switch some things around but were happy to take care of it for us.
The facility was clean and the pool was nice. Well appointed and updated feel. I could see staying here for a business trip also.
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything on the breakfast buffet was excellent. Being there from Friday until Sunday and having access to coffee, hot chocolate and fruit 24/7 was very nice. Our room was spacious and we were surprised how quiet it was. We never heard the first shower or door slam which was very nice.
Cons: We left the room about 10 AM on Saturday morning and the cleaning staff were working a few door down. We were greatly surprised when we returned late Saturday night and found that we did not have any fresh towels and the beds were not straightened or remade. My husband had to go down to the front desk to get fresh towels for the next morning.
Pros: THE STAFF IS FRIENDLY AND BREAKFAST IS GOOD. LOCATION IS GREAT FOR US.
Cons: ROOM WAS NEWLY REMODLED BUT NOT CLEANED WELL. DRYWALL DUST ON BATHROOM FLOOR. NO TOWELS OR WASTE BASKET UNTIL WE ASKED. COMPANY POLICY CALLS FOR NO TOWEL RACK IN BATHROOM AND ONLY ONE HOOK ON DOOR BACK. NOT VERY CONVIENENT FOR TWO PEOPLE.

Pros: Everything we needed for a basic one-night stay was here. There aren't a lot of the "bells & whistles" of more expensive locations but the price couldn't be beat in the area. Though there wasn't a continental breakfast offered, by the time we ate at a local major chain restaurant, we were still under $100 for the stay. Staff was friendly & courteous. Location is easy to find and convenient to local attractions. Definitely recommend. We'll be back...
Cons: No complaints.
Cons: Our only problem was the wifi .. It was iffy and unstable.
Pros: I liked just about everything.
*Very clean (#1 most-important thing for me)
*room service every morning for fresh towels & toiletries
*very quiet rooms (I never heard any of my neighbors through the walls and the hotel was completely booked 2 of my 3 nights there). Any outside noises only came through the door.
*good sized mini-fridge (I was on a restricted diet, brought all my own meals and they all fit)
*king bed was not too firm or too soft with comfy pillows that looked relatively new
*relatively modern decor with a wall-mounted flat-screen TV. (It did NOT look like a 70's porn set like many other motels of similar size and price)
*they gave me a free local newspaper when I checked out
--there is an ice machine and vending machine on site.
--walking distance to several fast-food restaurants and a steak buffet and several shops in Duncansville
--minutes away from the convention center and also Altoona's shopping district
*TV channel selection. It's a basic+ so it's OK for most people, but none of my favorites are included in the package (Science, H2, NHL Network, NFL Network). Also, no movie options. (It was OK though as I brought my Xbox anyway).
*I am not a big fan of the parking lot. Plenty of spaces, but not a very logical layout.
--Near active train tracks. Was not an issue for me, but worth a mention. The train was not very frequent (I think I heard it 3 times in 3 days), and other than the horn it was barely audible over the TV (on volume level 12) and the heater blower fan. It might be an issue during warmer months if you like to open the windows instead of using the A/C.
Enjoy your visit to Duncansville with a stay at Wye Motor Lodge. Free perks include WiFi and self parking. Rooms feature conveniences like refrigerators and microwaves.
Pros: The staff was wonderful. It is right next door to the convention center. They kept a large water container with lemon slices near the elevators.
Cons: The carpet and chair had stains, the bathroom was dirty.
Pros: Staff was very friendly. Room was a good size. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Phone in room was beat up and old when I called for a wake up call.
Pros: The hotel is not far from the mall and restaurants. I highly recommend Jethro's which is a 5 minute drive around the corner from the hotel.
Cons: Anybody can charge anything they would like to your room and they do nothing to verify that the person charging to a room actually has access to that room. Someone charged $40 to my room for breakfast and if I didn't have a receipt to prove that I paid cash for my breakfast, I would've been stuck paying for someone else.
Also make sure you have cash on hand when it comes time to checkout. I was told that my credit card was being declined and when I called the bank, the bank said nothing was attempted or declined.
Pros: The person who checked us in is very personable and remembered my wife and I from the year prior when we stayed which I thought was very impressive.
Cons: Our room was on the 2nd floor and every time someone on the floors above flushed a toilet or turned on a shower, we would hear the water and other "stuff" running down through the wall. I was constantly awoken through the night by this and checked out of the hotel twice as tired than I was upon check-in.
Pros: This location, has undergone the Motel 6 Update/ Reset. I have stayed at numerous Motel 6 locations throughout the country since the 80's. This location in Altoona is nice and clean. From the road perspective, it is definitely older, as it is a One Story Shotgun design, but if you can get over the Motel 6 stigma of cheap, it is a very decent location otherwise.
The gentleman working the desk the evening we arrived, was nice and courteous, as was the staff working the AM shift upon checkout. The bedding was comfortable, and was clean. Not a bug in sight, nor a sign of dirtiness anywhere. The room was equipped with a 32" LED TV, and though the channel selection is limited in Altoona, it was nice to be able to watch something clearly, while getting my eyes off the road.
Accessibility wise, this location is about a 1/2 Mile off the main roads in Altoona, and the entrance appears a bit deceiving, as there is a residential house at the driveway, but otherwise it is fairly easy to find.
If you are traveling with pets, this location is definitely pet friendly. Yes, you need to disclose that you have pets with you at check-in, but that is the only piece of information they need.
Wi-Fi was optional for a $5 Fee for 24 Hours. Being that I had data to use, I just turned one my devices into a secure hot-spot and utilized that for Wi-Fi. Thus, I have no experience with the Wi-Fi signal.
If you are on the road, and need a comfy bed to sleep in for the night, I definitely recommend stopping at this location. Whenever we come back through Altoona, I will be staying here again.
Cons: Towels were a bit small. I'm a tall gentleman, and it would have been nice to have longer towels for drying off with. Texture of towels were not rough. I've used sandpaper towels before, and these were definitely softer than sandpaper.
Pros: Not bad price. Convenient location to bars, restaurants, shopping centers etc. no carpet I prefer the hardwood floors. Staff was nice.
Cons: Room was super minimal. Limited tv stations. No microwave or fridge. Not alot of lighting. No shampoo Etc in shower have to supply your own.
Pros: I was very impressed. For the price we paid, we did not expect so much for so little. The room was nice and clean.
Pros: Close to what I wanted to see.
Cons: Motel's hallway smelled of smoke. My room was a non-smoking room surrounded by smoking rooms. My room smelled like a smoking room. My bathroom sink was clogged up. In bathroom found cloths left behind by previous occupant. AC didn't work well.
Pros: Refrigerator. Bathroom was in good shape and clean.
Cons: Worn out mattress. The room carpet wasn't clean. Limited parking.
No place to walk to for dinner.
Pros: The easy access to the Penn State game! - Friendly and Clean
Pros: If you're in this area and need a place to sleep, this is it!
great tv, warm room, quiet area. front desk very friendly.
Cons: shower head sprayed so hard it got the floor wet!
Pros: Friendly man at front desk. The fact that the property looks like the "Bates Motel" (inside AND out) isn't his fault, I suppose... The rooms were clean enough.
Cons: The temperature in the room when we arrived was 60 degrees! "No problem", I thought, "I'll just crank the thermostat." 4 hours later, the paltry emanations from the baseboard heater got the room to around 68 degrees. Unacceptable!!! Everything is horribly outdated and done to the bare minimum. Don't rent a room here unless 1) it's the last available one within 200 miles, or 2) you're only going to be using it for an hour or so.
Pros: Ease of check in and check out was great.
Cons: Loud TV from the room next door til almost 2:00AM then snoring!!! We had to get up very early the next morning and did not get much sleep at all. Not the motels fault. Thicker walls would've been a God send!
Cons: Housekeeping. They did a poor job after I asked them to clean certain areas.
Pros: The location was close enough to where the convention was happening.
Cons: Room just had an aura of dirty and dated. Grime on every furniture surface, ratty carpets i didnt trust to touch my bare feet. Paint peeling all over the bathroom. Wifi was unsecured and DSL, speeds were a joke. This location is going under
Cons: It was dirty and outdated. We rented 3 rooms, all were to have fridges and microwaves but only 2 did. They advertise a restaurant but there isn't one. It was nasty overall.
Pros: Convenient location to food/shopping, decent breakfast
Cons: Hotel was clean but extremely dated.
Pros: Cleanliness and staff
Cons: Needs upgrade
Cons: Manager was awful! Four nights room never cleaned. Not allowed to take morning cruel to room. Daughter harassed by Manager old woman. Key cards had to be be reactivated each day. Ants in room. Room had no phone never put into new room even with plent
Pros: Free breakfast that was included in the price of the room
Cons: It was a bit outdated and the room did have a weird smell.
Pros: There was a bed.
Cons: Very old and worn furniture, carpets, bathroom. Tub was not clean. Sink was dirty with coffee. Electric outlets by bed did not work, so charging phone/ipad was not easy. Reception was not welcoming. Waited a bit for anyone to show up to check me in.
Pros: The price.
Cons: Had to go outside to get complimentary breakfast.
Pros: the staff friendliness
Cons: had to ask for the carpet to be cleaned. It was cleaned nest day.
Pros: Check in and check out was very simple. Room was comfortable.
Cons: Bathroom fan in room #161 was not working, would come on and off randomly. Also, patch job in shower ceiling was pretty rough. Continental breakfast not exciting. Parking area lighting was poor.
Pros: Only the cleaning staff was very helpful.
Cons: The receptionist did not even care to ask me how was my stay there, she surely knew what my answer would be. The blanket was extremely worn out, the sheets were yellow and no detergent smell at all. The couch fabric was spoiled like a map.
Cons: It was impossible to communicate with the staff because they do not speak English, I spent 20 minutes at check in while the staff member attempted to talk to me only to be handed a phone so someone else could interpret. Room unswept. Electric exposed.
Pros: very clean, staff very polite, quiet place. price was good.
Cons: directions could have been a little better. said to make a u turn when it could have told you to just turn into second entrance. would be nice to have small coffee maker in room.
The staff was nice and provided what was asked for.
Pros: It was close to everywhere we wanted to go.
Cons: For 7 nights no clean sheets. I had to ask every time I wanted housekeeping or clean towels. Towels were not soft.
For the price I paid this hotel met my expectations. The room was clean and the location was perfect to spend the night after a football game in State College. It was a no frills room but that is exactly what I needed and expected.
Pros: The price was right and it was in a good location.
I hate leaving bad reviews. I don't expect much from hotels but do demand cleanliness. This hotel is very, very dated and dirty. I don't mind the dated furniture at all but, although I'm a smoker and I'm used to cigarette smoke, the stale smoke odor was very overwhelming. The walls were dirty as were the mirrors, which were very hazy. The towels and washcloths were extremely scratchy. This hotel is very much a case of 'you get what you pay for.' The on-site lounge is cute and the bartender was very friendly. Even though the owners were very nice and the price was great, I don't think I would stay here again.
Pros: The staff was very friendly including the bartender at the small lounge that was on site. The area is very quiet. It's between Altoona and Bellwood, so it's not in town with a lot of noise. The price can't be beat.
Cons: Even though I smoke and we had a smoking room, the odor was terrible!! We went to the mall and bought a room spray air freshener to help with that.
Take it off your list.
Cons: The room had spiders and cobwebs throughout the room. Paint peeling off the walls. Towels old. Didn't shower because I felt very uncomfortable being in the room. Had to fight off the bugs just to get in the room.
Had wifi, tv, fridge, microwave and the hot water was hot.
Pros: Nice clean cheap quite. We basicly needed a place to sleep for the night and thats what we got.
Pros: Nice, quiet location, friendly staff and nice lounge.
It is an older property, for sure...but it was clean, quiet and had working wireless and comfortable furnishings. Price was right as well.
Pros: Nice quiet location and there is a very nice lounge on site.
Pros: Great little motel. All the other motels were booked a few exits down and this motel had a room. The room was huge and the bed was comfortable.
Pros: you can tell they are working on fixing it up.
