I had nothing but electrical problems with vehicle. Sixt asked me to take car to mechanics. Key Fob would not work and we were locked out of our car and had to take a taxi home. Next day road side assistance could not get into the car because doors were locked so locksmith had to be called and I had to pay for taxi and locksmith. Called sixt many many times in 3 days, was told would be getting a significant refund and they only paid for 3 days rental. Worst experience ever. Customer Service was the worst, made promises they didn’t keep and we even upgraded to a bigger vehicle and paid in total $3500 Canadian dollars for 6 weeks and had nothing but issues. I would rate them a negative 20.

Pros:

Got upgraded, drop off was easy. Friendly staff.

Cons:

When we arrived the baby seat wasn’t installed and we needed to walk around to find one and install it in the car. Took almost an hour.

Pros:

Enterprise rep at the airport was informed and quick. Simply pulled out of the airport lot with no need to stop for paperwork etc.

Cons:

I clearly reserved a 7 seater and was given a 9 seater and then told that was all they had. The van was too big for us. Quite frustrated that no one took responsibility for that error. The Enterprise rep on the phone was not at all interested in helpinf.

Pros:

car was ready on arrival. easy to locate, and prior damage was already noted.

Cons:

1. windows could have been cleaner. 2. signage for return location was poor. Drove past it and luckily this was very early in the morning so i drove in the open exit to avoid backing up or circling the airport again which would have put us in a time bind.

One small sign in the airport for where to pay for rentals. Walked over after going outside and seeing the sign outside. POOR signage at best. After walking back to the airport as there are NO SHUTTLES, we had to ask, finally found a very small and badly placed sign on where to go pay.

Pleased with Avance car rental experience. Pick up and drop off at Athens airport was straightforward. We received a low mileage Renault Cleo which performed well. Big enough to haul 3 adults and carry ons, yet small enough to navigate the roads and parking in Greece. Prices this year in Greece seem high everywhere, yet felt we received fair value from the pricing we received from Kayak/Avance. Would use them again.

We recieved a very low grade gps unit it could not identify even the drop-off point the Thessaloniki airport. In addition from i could understand we received a different class car than the one we ordered. The was great but smaller than we ordered.

Cons:

The car made terrible noises from the second day we had it and staff were uninterested and said is was unlikely as quite new. I received a parking ticket on the street, paid it, but the police took the number plates as they do in Greece. Budget were completely unhelpful in trying to get them back and said they could take a month - but locals and hotel said all it requires is someone to collect from central police station. They are now charging me triple the rental rate, keeping the contract open, not answering the phone, not contacting me and not collecting the number plates. Total scam and dishonest.

My booking was for 5 people and for unlimited mileage, but the agent said that they do not offer unlimited mileage on Dollar in Greece. Cancelled my reservation and went with Alamo instead:(,

Kayak wrote in the standardized response that an e-mail would come from Europcar as confirmation, but that did not occur. The processor used by Kayak (not Europcar) wrote in a standardized response that the rental was confirmed. The Europcar website was not available several times when it was checked. At arrival, Europcar had the confirmation number Kayak/Kayak's processor had provided and the rental experience was excellent.

I did not get any voucher or receipt for the $1,000.00 deposit they required me to put down on the car on my credit card. They forced the deposit even though I had insurance purchased through your web site. They refused to give me any documentation even though I repeatedly asked for it. I hope they refund the deposit like they said they would. I do not know if I will get this money back.

Kayak follow up on customer satisfaction

Cons:

I reserved a car which can hold specific number of passengers (8) Kayak reservation was clearly stated number of passengers 8 but Avis rep said Kayak made a mistake and I need to pay an additional$99 euros for this 4 day rental over and above the agreement. Even if there is discrepancy Avis should pick this up with Kayak and not put a gun on customer's head when he/she has no other choice. Additionally car has multiple scratches and dents, over all renting a car in 3rd. World countries is always risky and unpredictable.

I reserved an VW EOS, or "equivalent" - they told me to take a Mini Cooper. We're a family of 4, with 4 suitcases. Obviously, this wasn't going to happen. No more AVIS for us!
