Pros: I got a car with tire issues. The tire pressure was low on my way back. Had to add air. After drop off I was told the tire was flat and may be responsible. I informed the manager that I added air on my way back and he almost claimed I drove 100miles back on a flat tire? How could that be physically possible without the rim been damaged or the person who first inspected the car, 5 minutes before I was told the tire was flat, noticed the flat tire. The lady okayed the car and only came back later to mention the issue. I don't understand how a car could be rented out without its health being adequately evaluated.

Cons: Didn't really get a receipt with final price. Check in on return just said you'll get your deposit back. I've rented lots of cars and it's never been handled like this. I guess I wait for credit card bill to know the amount.
Also, on checking in guy said car insurance doesn't cover time car is in shop should you have accident...basically trying to up selling coverage. I called my car insurance and it is covered. They should no states or car insurance that don't cover it if they want to state this verse trying to scare people into $17 dollars extra a day.

Great alternative to expensive airport rentals
Pros: We took a short Uber ride from the airport and still saved a ton from the rental prices there. We had about a 30-40 minute wait and were charged $2 more than what my kayak total said but id definitely rent from them again. They were very friendly, offered us a huge upgrade from an economy car to a truck and the vehicle was in great shape.

Enterprise rental lots may be different franchises
Pros: Rented at the Enterprise on South 7th in Phoenix. Great Price and service. I would use them again. But this location is not at the airport.
Cons: The Enterprise business site at the Phoenix airport is not the same as the franchise on South 7th. its rentals are much more expensive. Moreover, it provides no assistance unless you rent one of its cars. Indeed, other franchises cannot pick you up at the airport. A shuttle driver told us where to find a cab, a cab that took us to the wrong Enterprise car lot. Although the cabby got it wrong, the staff and facility on South 7th earned a 10 out of 10 on my scale.

Cons: I reserved a car with Enterprise for a trip to San Diego from Pheonix. I went with Enterprise because "they pick you up." Well let me tell you.... They do not!!! At least not in Phoenix/Scottsdale. The first place I called (555 W. Bell Rd) where I had made the reservation, was allegedly "too far" to come pick me up (15 minutes down the road) and told me to call Enterprise on 44th St. and Thomas.
After about ten minutes on hold, I spoke to someone, explained my situation and he says to me "I don't know why they would give you this number, I'm farther away from your location then they are."
Now I'm getting aggravated.
So you can't help me? "No," he says. "You need to call Enterprise on 64th and Greenway. They are the closest to you, they should be able to pick you up."
This now my third phone call.
So I call.... Well guess what?! He can't help me either because he's in a resort and they don't even have a pickup service. He then tells me, "call enterprise on 78th and Frank Loyd Wright Blvd. they should be able to pick you up."
I have now waisted a good forty five minutes of my time, I'm furious, and no ride or rental car.
PHONE CALL NUMBER FOUR.
To make a long story short...
The enterprise on 78th and FLW Blvd. could not pick me up either!!! Finally, I gave up and drove my car there. I had to leave it in their parking lot all weekend. The only reason I booked with Enterprise was to be picked up and leave my car home. False advertising and headaches!
And if it couldn't get any worse, they over charged me double the price of the reserved price even though I brought it back a day earlier.
When I called to address the charge, the man told me he had no authority to change it and his manager would call me shortly to discuss the charges.
HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK!
The next day, I went to the office to address this face to face and all I got was the same story. He didn't have the authority to refund the over charge, and his manager would have to do it, but he wasn't there. He assured me his manager would call me the next day. HE DID NOT. IM STILL WAITING.
Normally I don't take the time to write reviews or fill out surveys but I want to share with everyone this terrible experience.
SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME, DONT TRUST ENTERPRISE!
Use Dollar or Avis or anything else besides these clowns!!

Enterprise was great
Pros: Service was exceptional. When I booked through Kayak I did not realize that the location for my reservation was on Bell St. not at the Phoenix airport. The Enterprise desk person worked with me and got me setup for a rental from the airport for very close to the Kayak reservation.
Cons: When making the reservation on kayak it was not obvious that the reservation I made was not for an airport location.
Cons: Check-in line and wait was too long (45+). The car was filthy when I picked it up, which made it hard to inspect for damage. The "change oil and inspection" message kept alarming all week and was annoying.

Pros: The car fit me well and was easy to learn and manage. It was a Hyundai Elantra. The service personnel were cheerful and did not try to upsell anything.
Cons: When I went to the garage to actually get the car, the attendant pointed to one, I checked it over, marked the form where you note scuffs and nicks and tried to exit. The gate attendants told me I had the wrong car. Turning around and getting back to square one was difficult. My "real" car was the exact same make and model. Why didn't they just adjust the paperwork?
When I returned the car, the attendant was unclear about what my total charges would be (which would include topping off the gas) and just told me the billing would be e-mailed to me. They can now charge my credit card whatever they like. Not comforting.
Pros: Great car. Clean. The lady who checked us in was wonderful. Very patient and informative. A real asset to Advantage.
Cons: Was not satisfied the the insurance sold on Kayak. Complicates things. I would do it in the future.

I'm all about saving money, but not at the cost of renting a filthy car. Advantage you need to pick it up on cleaning your rental cars..
Pros: Why rent a normal, boring, dinky little thing when for just a bit more you can drive a Dodge Challenger? I couldn't think of even a bad reason so we took the Challenger and we greatly enjoyed it. A great decision.

Cons: I purchased third party insurance and was told at the desk that it may not be enough in case of an accident, which was annoying but realized it was a selling tactic as opposed to a hidden fee. Also, we were advised to upgrade to a mid-size sedan over our compact car, which proved beneficial. Cons: I rented a car to drive to drive a few hours for a wedding. It was late when the wedding ended but I needed to drive back. What a time to learn the headlights didn't work. Only the brights worked. It was a pretty scary drive home bc the road I was driving on didn't have street lights so I had to balance driving in the dark vs blinding others on the road. When I returned the car I mentioned this and they said "we meant to take this car out of commission due to mileage" but had not yet done so and took five dollars off my bill. To me, an apology alone would have been better than five dollars off in exchange for the dangerous situation I was put in. From this experience, I learned to check the lights before leaving any rental place and not to rent from budget.

Cons: I have rented with Payless in the past. I had some charges that I wasn't aware of on a previous rental. I called and it wasn't really clear why. This time I made a reservation online for a SUV. It was the best price through Kayakk. I got to the checkout around 11:20. My rental wasn't until 12. The attendant notified me that the rental would not be an SUV because there was nothing ready. Then after he processed my info (and having rented with them and using same card, none my info was found. I was previously told that there was a frequent user program,) he said that I would be charged a whole extra day if I rented now because I was 40 minutes early. I wasn't going to pay that just for 40 minutes. So I told him I'll wait. While I was waiting he came up to me and referred me to another company. I ended up waiting it out and when I processed everything in the end he didn't give me an SUV, he gave me a small compact. I was really frustrated. I mentioned it to the woman at the desk and she said I would have to go back upstairs and talk to the man who processed my transaction. I had meetings to go to and I didn't want to argue. Then when I dropped it off. There was no attendants available. I had to wait there for like 10 minutes until someone showed up and checked me out.

Pros: The Jeep Liberty was bordering on dangerous. It only had 30,000 miles, but did not drive straight down the road and sounded like it was not running properly. In addition, the driver's side seat would not adjust as the lever was broken and the windshield washer did not work. Overall a negative experience compared to my other times at Payless.

Extra Charges in AZ without Explanation
Pros: The return in Palm Springs was seamless and the staff was very helpful.
Cons: I was charged for an extra driver by the clerk in AZ who did not review the additional charge with me. It was only after I was in the car that I noticed she has given me 2 receipts, one for the amount I had agreed to online and another receipt for a higher amount that had been placed under the original. This seems to be unfair, sloppy business practice. I'm from CA where charging for an additional driver is illegal and did not realize there would be the extra charge, especially since the other driver is my spouse. The young man in AZ couldn't even tell me if AZ allowed charging for extra driver who are spouses. Had I been advised of a charge I never would have added an extra driver. Very unhappy about this.

Dollar "Wild Card" rental
Cons: The "wild Card" rental as Dollar staff called it, was effectively paying the highest price for a compact car. When making the reservation, the description was for a 5 passenger car. As I was told, the Chevy Spark they were going to rent to me has 5 seat belts in the car. Cancelled the reservation, went to the Payless counter and received a Nissan Altama for less than what Dollar was going to charge. Lesson learned...I personally will choose another company.

Cons: When we arrived we had to wait over an hour until they could give us a car as they said they didn't have one ready. Rep claimed the people who had the car didn't return it on time. Wow is this the only car you have and there were several people ahead of us and behind us who pre-booked rental but they didnt' have enough cars. I did see 2 people go to the rental spot beside avis and were able to get a car right away so they left avis. Also very expensive to rent a car and return in a different location, I get this to a degree but really, this seems like something that would be commonly done on vacation. While avis was the cheapest on the Kayak there is of course always so many add-ons and extra fees/taxes that it really comes out so much more than you get quoted up front. Common for all car rental companies.

Pros: The pickup and drop off were very easy - I like the ability to pick up at a location other than the airport (which has very high taxes) while still being able to drop off at airport for the convenience.
Cons: When I rented the car online it said the model would accommodate 5 adults and 3 suitcases - it did not...our option was then to upgrade to a larger car for a larger price. We decided to stay with the Mazda 3 as we weren't going to be using the car that much. Overall the experience left me feeling that I had been misguided on the size of the vehicle and I don't appreciate getting the "up sell" while on vacation.

Pros: The Avis was easy to find. The people were friendly and helpful. I received the car of my choice and was greatly pleased with the service!
Cons: If I had come back with less than a full tank Id have had to pay nearly ten dollars a gallon. I understand the need to do this but I think it would have been helpful to have a suggested gas station given at the time of pick up as I did not have a clue where to go and found one nearest as I could on the way. It was a bit stressful considering the city we were in has a strange way of making left hand turn lanes.

A Couple of issues
Pros: I had almost arrived at my destination and the AC stopped working. Since I was in AZ and the temperature was over 100, this was a problem. I called in and arranged for an exchange.
Cons: When I drove back to exchange my rental, no one seemed to know about it. I eventually got the replacement though it smelled as if someone had smoked in it.
When I returned the car, I asked where to go and they sent me upstairs. When I went up there, they wondered why I had been sent there.
Employees were reluctant to note multiple places with cosmetic damage that I pointed out when picking up.

Truth be told. We used the Kayak's negotiated price quote to gain the same price from Enterprise. Kayak succeeded for this customer and we will do so again. It was simpler to keep the E. car rented as a test than to find Hertz dealer.

Cons: The clerk did not inform me that there would be extra charges for a second driver. You could even say he was misleading since there was no full disclosure. I was surprised the bill was almost $60 more. Usually fees are clearly disclosed. Then the manager only gave me a small partial refund citing that I used the insurance. I had lost my cool, unfortunately and remembered later that I didn't even use their insurance. I remembered why I don't use Hertz and will not use them in the future. Not worth ruining my day today remembering that experience.

Terrible Service and No Information Given
Cons: I didnt like the fact that I was NOT informed I would have to pass a credit check in order to rent a car through Hertz. They were not able to rent me a car so I was stuck for days in a different state until my Step dad was able to rent me a car through Enterprise, who was more than willing to work with us for the funeral I was attending. I will not ever go through this company again and also, I was NOT informed they do NOT accept debit cards. This should be clearly stated before being charged like I was. I was charged for a rental car that I could not rent and they would not give me a refund. I ended up disputing this with my bank and waiting 7 business days to get put back on my card. Not a good experience or customer service to say the least and I will be telling all my friends and family about this and to never rent through this rental car company.

Pros: Antiwone Cobb was really helpful and discounted our rental. We would definitely rent from hertz again, just based off of our positive interaction with Antiwone!
Cons: Antiwone had to lock the doors to the store and go get our rental after we waited well over our pickup time. It seemed very inconvenient for Antiwone considering he was the only employee at the time. I'm not sure if this is a common thing for hertz or not.

Cons: First of all, my reservations where to pick up at 40th street.Sign showed cleaning cars and such! but according to others no one has
been at this site Hertz sign went up..... Second people answer phones
are not trained properly!!! took over hour to get someone to pick me up to go to correct location.
Will never use Hertz again!
Pros: did not ask for further insurance- was given a form with 3 choices as if i was required to choose one- then i asked if it was required and they said no. they slipped in a gps charge when i didn't ask for one. charged ma an extra $100!
Cons: potentially misleading and decpetive billing practices. will never rent from them again unless they refund the charges for the gps. no one present to address complain to during drop -off.

Firefly uses Hertz when hey are closed
Pros: Was told that they are not open every day of the week and that Hertz covers for them when they are closed. Wound up with A Hertz rental and had a good experience with Hertz.
Cons: Would have liked to know that Firefly would not be open when we would be arriving, led to some worry of being stuck at the airport untill Hertz explained their agreement with Firefly

Pros: They let me choose the exact car that I wanted within the category.
Cons: I told them that I didn't want the insurance coverage but they put it on anyway- over $100 for my trip but I didn't notice that they did it until the next day so they will not refund me the money. Over Christmas they only had 1 person working both the thrifty and Firefly desk- waited more than 45 minutes each way. I will never rent from them again!
Cons: Kayak site listed a Ford Focus or similar when I booked a compact. I booked based on that info. When I arrived at location I was offered much smaller cars in that compact group... too small to fit 4 adults as intended. They stated they do not even rent Ford Focus. I was forced to spend over 100 more for the correct size car. Thrifty site does not list ford focus, but was shown this way on Kayak. Same issue with Kayak listings for Dollar rental car
