Pros: Excellent breakfast, excellent host, excellent room with a view over ocean. Close to the marine aquarium and glass museum a very short walk.
Pros: Great location by the sea, very calm and beautiful, our host Yoko was exceptional. A wonderful taste of Japanese hospitality at its very best. Highly recommended!
Pros: Breakfast was among the best in Japan! Host Yoko speaks English and is lovely. The place is spacious, clean, and comfortable. Also A/C!
Cons: The only real challenge is few restaurants on the island. Guests should plan on dinner next door at a nice westernized restaurant serving burgers, fries, etc before 6pm, or dine off island then arrive. Parking tip - at the fishing spot 100m down the road.
Pros: The host was absolutely lovely. Wonderful traditional Japanese breakfast. Gorgeous views and loads of space. Great value
Cons: Beds a little too firm for our western torsos.
Pros: Friendly owner. Great spot over looking the ocean. Fantastic facilities
Cons: Nothing to duslike
Pros: If you are looking for a calm and peaceful place, here you are right. Yoko, the lady who runs the guest house made our stay with her great hospitality unforgettable. The rooms are spacious with a nice bay view and facilities were clean. The breakfast... Yam Yam Yammmm :-D
Cons: Nothing to complain.
Pros: Our host was lovely and welcoming. We had some good conversations and she made us feel right at home. The Japanese breakfast is excellent. The view is amazing. If you have a car it is easy to reach and within easy driving distance of some nice beaches and good scenery. I would stay here again any day.
Cons: Having to leave! :)
Pros: Great family guesthouse, with a great seaview from our room.

Pros: The meal is excellent
Pros: VERY VERY famous onsen 加賀屋旅館 in 1906 from now. Whatever the front services, hotel environment including lobby, onsen area, dining area and the stayed room etc.. It is most super good services; breakfast and dinner is perfect. All the arrangements is provided in excellent level.
Cons: Food is bad
Pros: Friendly staff & cosy service
Cons: Food can be better
Cons: The PRICE
Pros: Performance hall is excellent
Cons: Wish Front desk staff on phone can speak English
When you stay at Yukemurino-Yado Biwanso in Nanao, you'll be near the bay, just steps from Noto Peninsula and Akasaki Onsen. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free valet parking is available onsite.
Pros: Wonderful serviceand food. lovely private onsen, everything were perfect.
Pros: Delicious breakfast and dinner.
Cons: A bit expensive.
Pros: good food and service a waitress in the restaurant speaks English very well
Cons: hotel is located too close to the sea, so room is a little humid
Pros: Excellent Japanese food ,served with helpfulness and attention to detail .One of the best Onsen Ive been to, freely available shuttle to train station . Generously sized lovely room. Friendly yet Polite staff
Pros: We liked the attention of the staff and the management, the very traditional setting of the room, the location very much
Pros: The outdoor onsen is surrounded by trees with sea just next to it. Very nice design.
Cons: Air fan in the room is a bit noisy but can be turned off.
Pros: It's amazing. Meal is excellent. It deserves one of the highest scores for wakura onsen here. The staff has high hospitality. We have been taken care very well. I think if you want the real Japanese meal of onsen ryokan - here is the place. If you are expats who are not familiar with Japenese-ish meal - it might be a bit different. We love it, very much. The hotel is next to the bus stop to aquarium; which is great. The shuttle service to and for train station is also excellent.
Pros: The location was good
Cons: I expected better quality of food, ex. the beef was tough. The facilities needed an update.
Pros: Waitress speaks good English in the restaurant
With a stay at TADAYA in Nanao, you'll be steps from Noto Peninsula and Akasaki Onsen. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and coffee/tea in a common area. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: It is an excellent place. In particular, the rooms are nicely designed and furnished in a thoughtful manner from the user’s point of view. Same for the various facilities, such as the hot spring bath, provided in the hotel.
Cons: The water pressure of the shower in the room is rather week, though most guests are likely to take shower in the hotel’s hot spring bath facilities.
Pros: Free shuttle bus to/from Wakura Onsen JR station/ bus terminal. (You may call the hotel up for pick-up at JR station, which comes within 5 minutes which is great!) Very friendly & helpful staff. Comfortable onsen, which includes a selection of semi-outdoor onsen. Very clean room.
Pros: Standard room overlooked garden, and also sea! Beautiful onsen - always quiet, even though lots of people staying at hotel, maybe I happened to choose quiet times?! I decided to treat myself to breakfast and dinner - amazing! Staff were so attentive. Kusano-San was so helpful, as I decided to book 2 nights (last minute) vs one night. He helped with bike rental (free) and all other things. It’s calm, away from the centre, highly recommend.
Cons: Not being able to open windows of room - would have preferred fresh air to air-con and to hear the sounds of the water.
Pros: This ryokan has beautiful bay view. Our Japanese style room was very spacious & luxurious, had a western style sitting area to watch the beautiful sunset. Food was excellent! Mr. Kusano spoke perfect English & helped us navigate through the process & advised us with many insightful of information about the area. We enjoyed our stay there.
Cons: We had a little mishap regarding to purchasing a merchandise however, Ms. Shimizu at the front desk took care of the situation for us & made sure that we were satisfied.
Pros: The view was beautiful. The meals were excellent and well presented( though my server didnt speak English, she was hospitable in her own cheerful way ). Tadaya is very exclusively located, you would not want to stay at some nondescript tower block nearer town( and there are a few in Wakura ) My husband and i were celebrating our anniversary, and we felt it was beautiful in every way. Outstanding onsen. Many thanks to Jiro-san for the special arrangements , card and gift. I would hope to go back some time soon and build memories at Tadaya
Cons: Nothing .
Pros: The view from our room was great. The shuttle provided by the hotel was great. Food was good, too.
Cons: Staff did not help with luggage at check in and we had to lug our luggage through the property and upstairs to our room and after travelling from all the way from Tokyo tired and seeing Japanese guests before us being helped with their bags, it did not feel good. Dinner and breakfast is exclusively served in dining area and not brought to the room. And although it is in a great area, there is nothing to do outside the hotel within walking distance. Not ideal without a car.
Pros: The hotel is located at the far end of the spring area . It is very private and quiet. Match the expectation of an upscale onsen
With a stay at FREEDOM2 - Hostel in Nanao, you'll be steps from Noto Peninsula and Akasaki Onsen. Featured amenities include multilingual staff, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Both of the guys working were lovely and very helpful. Great recommendations for places to go and eat. The location is a bit far from the station, but very convenient for getting around. Super close to the water, public onsen, and several restaurants and bars.
Cons: Not much. The bed was a little squeaky, but other than that all was well.
Pros: Really interesting to figure out if we can survive the night
Cons: Scary shower room. I was expecting a murderer to appear anytime
Pros: Staff speaks english very best
Pros: Great place run by a very fun and happy local guy. This is a hostel, not a hotel so expect the conditions thereafter. I recommend this place for backpackers and budget travelers! Walking distance to town!
Pros: Its wide!! The owener told me the hostel once used to be a pub with phillipina. This convinced me of the wideness. In addition, the room was renewaled into japanese traditional style. You must like it.
Cons: Inconziness of shower. The shower didnt get to be hot, and when once its hot, its too much. I had a trouble in the control of temparature. I surely recommend to go to so-yu総湯which is a public bath
Pros: The bed and pillow were comfortable. It is an old building undergoing maintenance. Our ròom was big with a sitting area within. Walk to the coast, shops and restaurants. Quiet at night.
Cons: All good
Pros: The guest house provides excellent value for money, is clean and the main host is awesome in providing tips and information to make your stay as memorable one! I was surprised by the good service! The only downside is that it is in a low-profile hot spring town, which is not the guest house’s mistake, so people should go and explore rural Japan more!
Cons: Nothing comes to mind!
Pros: The host is super super helpful and friendly! He offered us pick-up from Wakura Onsen Station to the hostel. I didn’t really expect that!! The location is great as it’s close to the Wakura Onsen main onsen, the Onsen plaza (where you can boil your own hot spring eggs), and a supermarket that closes at 10:30 p.m. There are also two beautiful temples nearby.
Cons: But the location is a double-edged sword since the path leading to the hostel gets quite dark at night. You may want to bring a torch! That path was quite scary to me, otherwise, everything’s wonderful!
When you stay at Nebuta Onsen Kaiyu Notonosho in Wajima, you'll be next to a golf course, just steps from Noto Peninsula and a 3-minute drive from Wajima Kiriko Art Museum. This golf ryokan is 2.5 mi (4 km) from Wajima Lacquerware Center and 2.5 mi (4 km) from Wajima Morning Market. Amenities This ryokan features complimentary bicycles on site.
Pros: very nice ryokan room for 4 persons great dinner with great service
Pros: Lovely large room with ocean views. Amazing breakfast and dinners. Lovely onsen with ocean views. Friendly helpful staff. Great service.
Pros: Not a lot.
Cons: Depressing. Horrible location and city. Food mediocre. Hay mattresses.
Located in Nanao, Hotel Kaibo is within a 5-minute drive of Wakura Showa Museum and Notojima Bridge. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and an elevator. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We stayed in room 10-15, which is located on the highest floor on hotel's main building. We enjoyed the sea view from the room (and balcony) all the time we didn't enjoy it from onsen. The room is very spacious, bedding is very soft and comfortable. We are Europeans and would never expect that sleeping on a floor with just futon would be so comfortable! Breakfast and dinner are traditional Japanese kind, where you get a lot of small dishes. Some are cooked by staff in front of you. Unfortunately we didn't understand them very well, so might have overcooked some seafood, but anyway, we enjoyed food very much. It is very filling breakfast and dinner, but lunch wouldn't hurt. All eating places are located max 10 min walk from hotel, as well as famous onsen eggs preparation place. Just next to hotel there is a public park with free foot onsen.
Cons: The only thing I wasn't very happy about is glass panel in ladies' onsen, which blocks air flow and during night time you can't see sea and stars (my husband was very excited about the view from their onsen at night). By the way, onsens work from 3pm to 10 am.
Pros: Japanese style hotel with good onsen. We have sea view room with breakfast and dinner, we are vegan, so just email them to request and they can arrange wonderful （精進料理）Japanese style vegan meal for the breakfast and dinner. Call them after arrived at the station and they will come to pick you up.
Pros: Onsen was great, not crowded. Room had great view of Nanao Bay. Very quiet & relaxing hotel.
Cons: Our room wasn't cleaned though we stayed 2 nights. New onsen towels were hung on the door in a bag. Don't know if we were supposed to do something for them to know we were out & the room could be accessed for cleaning.
Pros: Ocean view room, room size, breakfast and dinner, view from room, professional staff, cleanness
Pros: Ocean view rooms had great views. Meals were delicious and service was great.
Cons: No complains at all.
Pros: Super relaxing! Really kind helpful staff, so much space in my room, fabulous view from the lounge area... even my "city view" had a view of the park next door and the bay from my rooms sitting area. (I traveled during low season though so not sure if this is the norm). The onsens and products were good. If you want to get off the beaten track this is a nice place to rest in a lovely traditional style room setting.
Cons: I struggled for a while to find out how to make the lights get brighter in the main room... turns out they work by the remote... the glass infront of the women's onsen doors get in the way of the view a little but you're on the second floor so I can see why it's needed... the place could use a few more electricity outlets for today's techy peeps... not one of these things got in the way of me having a great time... (the light remote was actually fabulous when it was time to sleep!!!)
Pros: the public bath and dining experience
Cons: tatami floor is too hard and futon is too thin to sleep comfortably
Pros: The kaiseki dinner was outstanding!! The ocean view from the room was amazing. Down the street was a local summer festival.
Cons: It is a bit pricey but the service, amenities, friendliness of staff and location were superb. Dinner was outstanding!!
When you stay at Wajimaonsen Yashio in Wajima, you'll be by the sea, just steps from Noto Peninsula and Sodegahama Beach. Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, luggage storage, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: The beach is really really dirty. Not nice and a reason not to stay in the hotel.
Pros: The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The assistant manager even drove us to the bank to change money.
Pros: good food and beautiful place near salt pool
Cons: good service but a little insufficient compare traditional ryokan
Pros: A hotel in an exceptional location in Wajima overlooking the Japan Sea, which we could see and smell every morning from our room. Spacious traditional Japanese rooms, staff very, very helpful. Only one person speaks proper English, but they go out of their way to help. You can walk down to the beach (non particularly clean) in your swimming attire. We only had one breakfast, which was definitely very expensive, even for a complete Japanese breakfast. So the second day we skipped it. If I were to go back to Wajima, which I hope I will do one day, I would definitely stay there, but for a much longer time. This place has class (my name on the door of our room)!

Pros: the single room, design, color, comfortable, relaxing, also the onsen bath at 7/F
Cons: outside window not cleaned
Pros: The main building is luxurious.
Cons: The room is located next by the main building.
Pros: Very nice dedicated staff everywhere (front desk, restaurant, bath, ....). Very good food. Large bath facility. Big confortable room with tatami and futon for an very relaxing night. Great property.
Pros: Hotel lobby was impressive, spacious!!!
Cons: Lack of English soeaking staff... but all were very helpful. My room was in the other building so it’s a bit too far to walk to the main building facilities especially in cold weather!
Pros: As soon as you arrive to the hotel, it immediately sets the tone with its surrounding area which was relaxing and calm. Not much to do within the vicinity area of the hotel. There's a cute lil area for a public foot bath that overlooks the sea. I didn't go for a ryokan room; booked a Garden room instead since i was a solo traveler - so i'm not able to comment about dinner. But breakfast has a pretty good selection. The bed was extremely comfy and i love the massage chair in my room! The onsen was great as well. Definitely a nice getaway for some R&R.
Cons: It would have been nice to offer an option for guests to go for a ryokan dinner with the booking of the Noto Garden room. I was eager to try a ryokan dinner however i was not willing to book a tatami room, paying double as a single traveler.
Pros: Baths were very nice.
Cons: Bed too soft. Breakfast buffet very poor.
Pros: Excellent facilities, well-designed public areas and rooms at the annex building where I stayed. Excellent service from staff, particularly Mr Akaike at the Front Desk! :))
Pros: Excellent baths, parking, delicious food, quality service
Cons: English not too widely spoken here but the staff still try their best to help

Pros: It was a very relsxing place the room was okay
Cons: It was a little far from the town
Pros: Great opportunity to really experience Japanese culture
Cons: The place was a little tired and could do with refurbishment in places
Pros: I like it that they have a play area for the kids. It hard to find such facilities in Japan.
With a stay at Hotel Route-Inn Wajima in Wajima, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Noto Peninsula and Wajima Kiriko Art Museum. Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: The hotel is a little old, but is perfectly fine. It is clean and in a good location. You can easily walk to the morning market, the public foot bath and a bunch of restaurants (although the nearest convenience store is about a 10-minute walk away). My room was at the end of the hall on the top floor and quiet.
Cons: The car park is a little bit of a walk from the entrance. The breakfast fills a hole, but could be improved. Note: There is a building under construction next door, so that could be an issue if in the room during the day (we weren't).
Pros: The hotel was quite convenient to the morning market. Although it was not up to standards of the other Japanese hotels, it was probably the best hotel in Wajima, unless you were staying at an expensive ryokan.
Cons: It was just not up to the standards of the other Japanese hotels. The rooms were quite small and there was nothing particularly nice about the rooms other than the view,
Pros: Location near to kiriko museum and wajima morning Market
Cons: WiFi did not work
Pros: Room size, staff and breakfast
Cons: Bed was too hard!
Pros: Good location near the sea and close to morning market.
Pros: We received a free parking ticket from the hotel for public parking near the hotel

Pros: Public bath was small but nice; overall the room and facilities were clean. They have free coffee on the first floor and a vending machine for alcohol and cup ramen on the first floor which is very useful. Close to the station and easy access
Pros: Staff spoke very comprehensible English and provided excellent service.
Cons: Nothing at all!
Pros: Close to the bar street
Cons: No bycicle parking
Pros: Breakfast is good. Location is handy.
