Pros: We stayed over on a trip from Portugal to Catalonia. Paradors are always a pleasure but this modern one was very good.
Cons: Hard to think of anything.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: No tea or coffee making facilities in the room
9.3 Excellent
Pros: We did not much like the breakfast. Bacon coldish, scrambled egg looked like a messed-up omelette. But the fruit selection and quality was super. And views from Restaurant spectacular. Dinner was typical of Spanish country cooking as all the old Government-owned Paradors made such a speciality. Very modern and tasteful building . Everything worked well.
Cons: See above
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Located in a quiet area close enough to walk in to the town. Parking on site, modern and comfortable facilities.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice room. Good breakfast. Quiet. Friendly staff.
Cons: Aircon wasn't working, which eventually turned out to be because the circuit breaker had tripped - apparently this is not unusual. (But we opened the windows, so that was ok!)
10.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews

7.5 Good
Pros: Amazing views, secluded
Cons: NOT SUITABLE FOR KIDS. The swimming pool looks big on pic but is small and is part of a soa, so everyone needs to wear caps in the water, kids are not really allowed to play/jump/make noise. Food was posh and not good!
7.5 Good
Pros: Ancient property in quit surrounding. Clean rooms. Staff at the restaurant very friendly.
Cons: Unprofessional receptionist (lady). A bit unfriendly but might be due to bad English. Can’t be for such a hotel that the language spoken is more or less only Spanish. They played the two versions of their play list every day. Too few sun loungers. As often in upper class hotels other guests are ruthless (towels on sun loungers even they left, very loud coming home late, whirl pool in the room used in the middle of the night etc.). I would expect the hotel staff to execute some clear guidelines. So, it feels a bit as if they are uninterested. They serve tea (hot water) at the pool but once it’s empty there is no one seen from the staff. Do it right or let it be. Biggest issue was they have a wonderful terrace but they don’t open it for dinner. I was there 6 years ago. They seemed more eager than today.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Peaceful and beautiful building.
Cons: The staff were short tempered and rude. The restaurant was dirty and they charged me twice after I left for food and drinks not ordered.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Absolutely amazing. Stunning building. Exceptional in every respect.
Cons: Nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: Water to the shower was hot and slow

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Five stars for location. Five stars for food.
Cons: Service poor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Magnificent place. The hotel (a former monastry) is already worth a visit just on its own. Staff was super friendly, we booked 2 rooms and got a free upgrade to the suite. Both rooms were very spacious and super clean. Great breakfast. The hotel is located just next to a nature reserve a bit away from the city center, so it's very quite and relaxed during the evening. Our family loved the swimming pool. If I need to stay near Antequera again, I would definitely return to this hotel!
Cons: Really nothing!!!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staying in an old monastery with today's standards. Room included a great shower and a bath tube. Breakfast and dinner, both of good quality, are served with a great view over the valley and the surrounding mountains. Beautiful lemon trees in the courtyard in an otherwise rather dry landscape. Nice garden in front of the (inside) pool.
Cons: Air condition did not function very well. On warm days it is too hot in the inside pool area to enjoy a swim.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was wonderful
Cons: It wasn't very close to the golf course

Cons: Room was basic, in need of refurbishment but comfortable & priced accordingly

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was beautiful! very historic! We didn't even go to the city center, just stayed in the hotel and the restaurant, talked to the owner of the hotel during dinner. It was very nice

9.3 Excellent
Pros: It felt like a luxury hotel ..for excellent price.. Staff pleasant room big.lots of towels for 1 person..big bath lots hot water. Lady receptionist in evening helpful.
Cons: Could hear people next door and outside my room was a tad noisy ..as above main street. To attain bath water you need very good eyesight and understanding of modern taps.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great restaurant next door. Breakfast was a bit Modest.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Central location for everything we wanted. A bit of street noise but not that big a deal. Black out shutters meant we had a good nights sleep. Car parking available at an extra cost, but at least you know it’s safe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fantastic - just opposite one of the brilliant squares in Antequera. Breakfast was available in the bar next door at a very reasonable price. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Will certainly stay again.
Cons: The bathroom could perhaps be modernised. Quite dark but very clean
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful Andalusian style hotel with central courtyard. Ladies on front desk were friendly and helpful. The room was a good size with 2 double balcony doors and a large bathroom. We had booked a room facing the Alcazaba so there was some noise at night from the plaza opposite which we had expected. The light breakfast at the restaurant next door was convenient as we had a morning train to catch.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. View from room was gorgeous. Room size was small but adequate. Check in was quick. Glad there was a lift. Toiletries provided in the bathroom. Small fridge in room which was great.
Cons: The reason I gave it a poor review was that my room door was left open after cleaning on the third day. I found this very worrying and complained to reception. Luckily nothing had been taken from the room. Poor attention to detail. Also the view from the room was gorgeous however the payoff was that it was very noisy until quite late at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: cosy good wifi good air con
Cons: nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Lack of extra pillows
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly welcoming staff, the hotel reception/breakfast area was charming with lots of traditional Spainish character. The rooms and facilities were spotless and all very comfortable. The hotel is perfectly positioned to see the town.
Cons: Nothing

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Large shower cubicle. Location great. Secure parking close by.
Cons: Room was a little tired. Fridge in room not plugged in and without content, i.e. water. Breakfast served in the bar alongside locals and limited to toast, coffee and orange juice.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great position in a unexpectedly lovely town, nice bar associated to the hotel and really friendly and helpful people. Very reasonable price as well. Would definitely stay here again.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great spacious shower. Spacious room. Good air conditioning.
Cons: There's no longer a balcony despite the pictures showing one for a single bedroom room. That area is now inside the room. Also received some strange looks from those working there. Didn't seem welcome.
7.5 Good
Pros: Typical Spanish bar and restaurant downstairs which had an excellent atmosphere. Hotel was well located and the staff were friendly.
Cons: The previous guest had obviously been smoking in the bedroom. I asked if the hotel had non smoking rooms and was told that it didn’t although to be fair to the staff they did use air freshener to try and mask the smell.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is literally in the city center. It is nice and staff is very friendly and helpful. If you come by car, you really need to reserve the hotel parking - there is no possibility of leaving the car anywhere in the area (literally not even for 5 min, as the streets are super narrow) - the parking is good and just 10 - 15m from the hotel (its in the next little street), very convenient, easy to park, and frankly it is cheap for the comfort of having the car close and safe. Air conditioning works well. We took the room with a balcony, and the view was great! And the room, in general, was spacious and nice. However, take into consideration that the street during the weekend can be loud, but nothing more than what earplugs couldn't fix ;) If you prefer really calm room, better take one without the room, but from the back of the building.
Cons: Wifi was pretty weak and I had problems of getting IP address in general.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Room was bigger than expected. Great traditional Spanish bar downstairs where we ate wonderful cheese and enjoyed a few beers! Dinner in the restaurant was a generous meal of good quality.
Cons: Wi fi didn’t work in our room the entire time we stayed. We coped!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, very clean, helpful staff.
Cons: N/A
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Best location in town
Cons: The beds are not very comfortable and it was extrmely loud. We didn't have a good night sleep, since matresses were old and noisy. Don't even dare to open windows.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was in a good location & very important for me only a short walk from the bus station. I had a spacious room & a large bathroom with a shower cubicle that could have accommodated a family of 4 at the same time. There seemed to be an endless supply of very hot water & the shower had incredible pressure. The staff were all very friendly & helpful.
Cons: The room could have done with the decoration being freshened up a bit. I had a meal in the restaurant but everything on the menu, apart from the salads, only seemed to come with chips, no vegetables available. I asked for salad instead if chips, but it was just shredded lettuce & a couple of slices of tomato. Some outside space to sit & have a drink would gave been nice. In spite of these negative items, I still enjoyed my stay there.
Arte de Cozina - Antequera
8
8.1 Excellent (310 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Arte de Cozina in Antequera, you'll be within a 5-minute walk of Museo Conventual De Las Carmelitas Descalzas De Antequera and Antequera Municipal Museum.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Bed and room were great
Cons: Dinner a let down, served in a couple minutes, re-heated obviously
9.3 Excellent
Pros: traditional building, with great food on site, lovely staff, we really felt like we got to know the area
Cons: shower cubicle could have been a bit bigger, but water was lovely and hot.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The shower was hot, although the bathroom was tiny. There was a heater which i used as the room was cold and this was very effective. It is a very pretty quaint and quirky building. All staff were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal.
Cons: I would have liked a larger room although i did only book a single it was very small, as was the bathroom. I did have a tiny window but this faced all brick walls and overlooked the kitchen extractor fan which omitted the cooking smells into the room, a room with a view would have been nice. As most rooms are above the restaurant it was quite noisy, all through the night as well due to the staff being on duty 24 hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a wonderful place to stay and so glad I found it ..would definetly recommend stsying here the staff and room were just lovely : )
Cons: N/a
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a very charming and special place to stay in Antequera, and the tapas bar and restaurant are excellent!
Cons: I loved my room, but the beds are somewhat narrow.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Small family feel to the hotel. Everyone was laid back but accommodating made you feel welcome but not over the top. All in all a trouble stress free 3 night stay. No problems.
Cons: All fine the accommodation was as advertised no bells and whistles just a nice basic hotel. All ok.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Food was amazing and staff super friendly!
Cons: Not much!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: wonderful restaurant
Cons: bathroom facilities no direct light in the room
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very cozy and I liked the small things that make you stay more enjoyable: free water, fruits, kettle in the room. Everything was clean, and the bed was comfortable. The shower is not that small as some other comments describe ;) I'm pretty big, but I was able to fit in there comfortably.
Cons: My room was pretty small there was only a small window overlooking the tiny inner yard of the building, hence it was darkish in the room, and almost no airflow (but there was an AC). Also the ACs (or other ventilation equipment) in the yard made a slight background noise. Nevertheless, the attention to the customer make it a great place to stay for a couple of nights.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The British gentleman was a gem!

Featured amenities include a business center, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. This hotel has 12 meeting rooms available for events. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good selection for breakfast (buffet style), very clean hotel and friendly staff.
Cons: Might seem churlish, but the table we sat at for breakfast moved, in all directions!
7.0 Good
Pros: The beds were big and confortable, and the buffet breakfast quite impressive. We didn't got to use the facilities because of lack of time, but they are definitely a valuable plus.
Cons: Room and hallway pretty worn-out, with water leaking from the ceiling and signs of dampness on the walls. The shower had an old curtain, haven't seen one of those in an 4 stars hotel...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast and dinner were great with an amazing selection of food and extremely well presented. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and we got a lovely welcome from the man on the front desk. Loads of parking and hotel was well located for a stop off on route to Córdoba. Was there for only one night but would love to stay there again.
Cons: Nothing really , except that the bathroom and the balcony off the room could do with a little renovation in order bring them up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nice big airy room with balcony overlooking swimming pool, which itself was very welcome after a six hour car journey in near 40° temp.
Cons: Ignored at both arrival & departure in reception. The ONE person on duty was constantly on the telephone, how about having 2 people on duty. Although there was plenty of food at dinner & breakfast the quality for a 4star hotel could have been better.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Hotel very good greeting at reception very nice.the room uprated to a suit.this was a very pleasant surprise.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Swimming pool and location and free easy parking
Cons: Breakfast could be better
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Rooms spacious
6.3 Good
Pros: We chose the hotel for the location (close enough to the Caminito del Rey) and the possibility to relax for a day and that worked out well. The staff is helpful and it was a pleasant enough stay, with decent value for money.
Cons: The hotel caters mainly for large excursion groups and that reflects also in the buffer breakfast and dinner (not only the choices but also on the timings, if one would go a bit later there would be little to choose from) . The hotel itself is in need of a serious rennovation, as it is not only dated but also in need of some repairs / conservation. The pool area could be better maintained. We were there mid June and there were a good number of pool chairs not cleaned up. Those little things are easier to achieve than the overall repairs, which involve investment.
5.7 Okay
Pros: It was adequate.
Cons: Dinner was over priced
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hotel is located just outside the historic centre of Antequera, with an uphill walk of around 1km to reach the main places of interest. Clean and comfortable bedroom with good ensuite shower room. Reasonable quality buffet dinner available for 18 euros, and a good breakfast included in the room rate. Good size swimming pool set in well-maintained garden area. Secure underground parking available for 6 euros per night, plus plenty of free parking on the road outside the hotel.
Cons: Flies in the restaurant! Possibly to be expected when doors to the public areas are open all day, but no evidence of measures to deal with them.

5.5 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Dated
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Dinner at the restaurant, easy to drive to, comfy bed, great AC
Cons: No eggs for breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room was large with a lovely balcony. The breakfast was good with a range of different choices. The location was on the edge of town which suited us as we could go into the town to visit the sights and then enjoy the peace.
Cons: Unfortunately, there were several children's parties going on when we arrived and so the car park was full and the hotel noisy but there was not much they could do about that! Even if they had warned us, we probably would have stayed anyway.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Wifi did not reach the room, breakfast was chaotic - staff overwhelmed but friendly.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was fine: fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, toasted baguette with a good choice of fillings. Not the most lavish but perfectly acceptable as like us most of the guests were only there for a night or two either to see the monuments or travelling to or from the airport. Dinner was very good quality with a good choice at a reasonable price. Bedroom was enormous for two people, double bed plus two full size singles! Well fitted bathroom. Overall great value for money!
Cons: Location not great on fringe of industrial area, but not relevant for what we wanted for a one night stay.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Free parking was a real bonus. Good coffee, juice and bread at breakfast.
Cons: Our room was quite adequate but the view from the balcony was of a tanker in a parking lot!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The food served as a evening meal, in the large dining room, was lovely.
Cons: Breakfast was served in the bar each time we have stayed there.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were excellent
Cons: the food was not however to our taste - no separate breakfast menu for hotel guests
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Nice location. Clean and bright.
6.3 Good
Pros: Large room with private terrace, fridge in room and good selection of amenities provided (razor, toothbrushes as well as shampoo/shower gel). Food in restaurant was good.
Cons: Vague scent of cigarette smoke drifting in from other rooms, no mirror in bedroom only bathroom, quite noisy from other rooms, staff not super friendly, room a little bare, no safe to store valuables e.g. passport in, disappointing breakfast - choice of sandwich filling in bar area and a drink, no fruit etc.

7.0 Good
Pros: We stayed for one night in Hotel Lozano in Antequera to break our journey from Vejer de la Frontera on our way to Garrucha in Almeria. It is a pretty typical business hotel. The room was quite large and the bathroom huge.
Cons: There was no electrical socket at either the side of the bed. This was a major issue as my wife has sleep apnea and has a machine to help her sleeping. The hotel is a long way out of Antequera, not really suitable if you want to explore the town on foot.

5.8 Okay
Pros: I guess the price was fairly ok. Good for 1 night stay.
Cons: Room was too small for 3 people and it was quite dark due to very small window.
7.5 Good
Pros: Clean and reasonable price
Cons: Restaurant closed in the evening
6.3 Good
Pros: Some lovely scenery around a budget hotel. Good value for the money.
Cons: The window looked out to the centre of the building so no fresh air was accessible which resulted in the room having a slightly stale cooking smell. A little isolated in location.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Room and bathroom very clean. Perhaps a bit outdated but with tv and good air conditioning. Room size OK. Not far from motorway very handy. The restaurant very nice.
Cons: The bar a bit dirty looking. Didn't see a lift though only one high floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient position, easy access with a hassle-free parking, helpful staff. The room was clean and quiet. The furniture was maintained and the bed/mattress was comfortable. Good WiFi access 24hours.
Cons: Nothing
6.8 Good
Pros: Price. Location is OK during travel. The air conditioning unit was able to make the room warm enough.
Cons: - Requested double bed did not exist - only separate single beds - We were unlucky in the restaurant which is more like a bar. It was quiet when we came in, but then was filled with noisy local workers from a bus which made our meal less enjoyable. - Barely warm water from the hot water tube.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Clean and tidy
Cons: Nothing. Everything was as expected.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and the view. Also personal was very friendly.
Cons: It was a bit cold in the room and the heatpump was hard to handle.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best bargain during our 10-day trip in Andalucía. We arrived after the big noontime meal, but found a delightful open "cafeteria" that served dinner at the next hotel (direction Antequera) on the service road that one takes to reach La Yedra. We were astonished that it had only one star; it merits more!
Cons: No elevator (heavy bags) but wasn't a big deal.
6.8 Good
Cons: Cleaning the plates from restaurant waked me up...

Cons: It is difficult to walk to the hotel. The motorway is very noisy. Our room was at the front and was noisy even with the windows tightly closed and the shutters down.

Pros: Very helpful staff , very clean hotel, perfect stop over for our drive from Malaga to Valencia
Cons: Some noise from traffic as it is near the road
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel was easy to find and the view from our room was really good. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The staff were all very nice and spoke good English, since our Spanish is very limited!
Cons: The breakfast was quite poor and not up to the standard I would have liked.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Incredible value for money. It's obviously just a stopping-off point on the motorway, but the room and facilities were of a far higher standard than most other roadside hotels in Spain.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: Couldn’t eat in restaurant due to a large booking

Cons: Sound insulation is not great.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location Price Typical old style auberge Plenty of bars, restaurant's close by.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Location is good. Easy parking in the blue area nearby. The reception staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations.
Cons: I never stayed in a place where the owner just opens your door without knocking, pretending she wanted to check the towels or something. It was very uncomfortable, and I think she did that with various rooms. The room was not very clean, there were hairs in the sink, and in general it felt dusty and old.
6.8 Good
Pros: Good location to see all the city.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is easy to find and in a great location close to the centre of town and to a fantastic viewing point if you walk up the hill. Big room with en-suite and a good air con unit.
Cons: Whilst not bad, the room wasnt quite as clean as it could be. It was also more dated than anticipated, although the latter doesn't really matter that much. Again, not a concern for us, but there were no English TV channels.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location in town and about 1klm to the train.
Cons: The property smelled of cigarette smoke. Despite signs on the doors that indicate no smoking, they provided two ashtrays in the room. If you don’t like to smell cigatette smoke, don’t stay here.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The location was in the centre. I must say Antequera itself is very welcoming and a beautiful place to visit. Excellent sights and food too.
Cons: The picture of room displayed is certain not to be taken here. I stayed in a single room 29 at the back of the building, was very isolated as a guest and it seemed near to where the hotel owners lived in the property themselves. When you used the bathroom, the noise was loud you felt that people were in it with you, coming from the otherside of the wall next door and above, there were noise from adults and children, all hours of the night and day, screaming, shouting, crying, singing, whistles and both nights I had to endure this without sleep. The room was dirty. I do not just mean dust, I spent some time killing im not sure if coming from the bed or the wood. The furniture was all old, broken and splintered. I have pictures incuded of these. The room was a combination of a smell that you would find in an elderly persoms home and someone who smoked many cigs. The place was gloomy, tired and very run down, with a somewhat unsettling feel to it.
9.3 Excellent
Cons: Water could have been warmer
5.5 Okay
Pros: The location is great. Staff is quite odd but the man who welcomed us did his best to make us satisfied. At first he gave us a very strange and noisy room with a run down bathroom but, when we complained, he gave us another room. It was a little bit better than the previous one but it was probably a smoking room or a room for the staff. Besides it was quite dirty and smelly. Strange architecture.
Cons: The building is very old, dusty and dirty.
