Bahía De La Luna - Arroyo Cruz - Building

9.2 Excellent (296 reviews)
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Bahía de la Luna in San Pedro Pochutla, you'll be on the beach, within a 15-minute drive of Zipolite Beach and La Boquilla Beach. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, the place was amazing like a paradise, you must know that you are staying in a nature place, you have to be open mind to live with the flora and fauna of the place, nothing to be alarmed on the contrary pure natural beauty
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Paradise..the location is incredible, the beach is pristine and the atmosphere is special. The staff are exceptional and made our stay very memorable.
6.7 Good
Pros: Fantastic location in one of best breaches. Not crowded at all . No palapas and just one restaurant . No sellers. Clean.
Cons: Food below expectations although cooker makes good efforts. Trying to emulate too much European cuisine. Make it easier! Also I did not like that the propina is calculated on the amount of night plus food. Not only food. And room cleanless is a given as it is very small. You cannot do anything inside.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The staff was friendly, the food was incredible, the view was breathtaking and it was very secluded and private. If you’re looking for an environmentally friendly, natural environment that’s good for relaxing or exploring, this is the place for you! One nice thing is the front desk will can set up a really nice boat tour and taxi rides for you. They also have snorkeling and kayaking available for free.
Cons: It might get a little too hot in the rooms during the summer, but it was tolerable when we were there. The only thing I would change is a little more variety to the lunch menu if you’re planning to stay a few days, but don’t get me wrong, the food is great.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This family run property is in a superb location on a beautiful, secluded bay with a lovely beach that is safe and easy for swimmers and snorkelers. The owners and their staff are always friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfasts - especially the abundance of fresh fruit - are a delicious way to start the day. The reasonably priced dinners typically include choices of at least two appetizers and two entrees, one of which is sure to be freshly caught fish beautifully prepared by the chef. The beds are comfortable and all the sheets, pillowcases, bedspreads and towels were clean and high quality. The ambience is peaceful, laid back and get-away-from-it-all, to the extent that even the threat of coronavirus and crashing markets seemed to be a world away. All in all, an absolutely delightful place!
Cons: What's not to like about Bahia de la Luna? It's not a pristine, modern, all amenities resort, nor is it meant to be. However, just a couple of small tweaks in the kitchen area of Saturno 1&2 would help, specifically, more and/or improved utensils and pots and pans. That's it!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff is super friendly and pleasant. The road to get here is super bumpy so prapare for that. The beach is beautiful and we loved snorkeling. Food was fantastic! We loved how quiet it is and relaxing. This hotel is eco friendly so no AC,no straws, and no plastic wear are used. I would definetely come back!
Cons: Rooms are a little small but we managed. I would have loved to see quesadillas with hand made tortillas in the manu, and oaxacan cheese since that cheese is special to this region. Also, we could tell that there is mice, we don't mind because we understand that we are in the middle of the mountains but perhaps knowing that the rooms, have been desinfected and the arae outside the room as well would be great. I know bleach is somewhat toxic but the smell of a little bleach or pinesol would have been ok just to know that the mice feces had been taken care of.

6.3 Good
Pros: The property was clean and well kept.
Cons: Activities, entertainment and buffet food was mediocre. Planned activities were not well organized or advertised.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very good medium priced hotel for families. There is lots to do, value for money is very good, the beach is excellent, the bay is quiet, and the food service is very good value. Our only comment is that when full the property seems quite crowded, but that is a small matter. For good value, high quality, Barcelo delivered.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The guy who gives towels on the pool very nice and helpful I think his name is samuel. Guys on the kayaks were super nice and always with a smile. One more thing Maria on the restaurant "la tortuga" she was very nice always greeting us and very helpful Good job Maria!! Last but not least. Mr. Reyes was very nice always with a big smile and ready to help!!
Cons: People on the front desk were on the bad mood not nice at all they were kind of rude I would say. Except Laura on my last day there I talked to her and she was very nice and helpful, the others should learn from her!!

4.6 Okay
Pros: The laundry staff very friendly and ready to support me.
Cons: The staff at front desk non profesional, at the restaurant in a hurry to go with wrong info, the house keeping and servibar so invasive asking me at 9:30am that need to verify room because have check out today, at check out asked for my invoice and dont provide to me becase according his words will wait a long time. I asked for the transport from room to lobby at 11am and dont arrive, 15 min later choose to walk in the sun with my bag. According my experience as international traveler this hotel cannot be 5 stars.
7.5 Good
Pros: Wonderful view from our bedroom (junior suite),, friendly staff, good saving deals, beautiful beach, great for families
Cons: The hotel is a little bit old but it seems they're making efforts to improve their facilities (which is more noticeable in the rooms) Food in restaurants pretty average and i would say expensive for what you get. I would never ever recommend this hotel for senior people, wheelchairs (even strollers would have a hard time here). Hotel needs to improve on this regard.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Very old hotel.....with a lot of restrictions. Would not recommend staying here

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Overall the design and architecture of the establishment were very beautiful. The large pool was very nice and big enough to not feel crowded. If you speak Spanish well it would work out.
Cons: The staff truly did not understand English making it very difficult to communicate any needs. It was very clear there were not enough staff to accommodate the small number of guests. We were constantly seeing the same gentlemen run everywhere. The facility is starting to look dated and run down, in comparison to the online photos. As someone with celiac disease, it was virtually impossible to communicate my dietary needs. I was truly hoping at checkout for the opportunity to talk to someone about our experience rather than writing a poor review, but no one asked how our stay was or anything. They showed us the bill and smiled. During our stay, there was only one restaurant open pre-night and a buffet. The two restaurants rotated, even though the website mentioned four restaurants. The buffet was great the night we went but were outrageously charged for things we did not consume, and we asked very clearly about certain costs. However, when the bill arrived we were shocked at the lack of communication and miscommunication on their part. There were so many unfortunate elements to our stay. We were charged for food that took 2.5 hours when we were told only 30 minutes. Many things we ordered came out wrong and due to the difficultly communicating - things were not corrected and we had to pay for them. Not once we were shown pricing for alcoholic beverages. When we first arrived to the resort we came in contact with an employee and asked in full Spanish where the bathrooms were located. Perhaps our Canadain accents were strong and difficult to understand but she had to call someone to tell us where they were. The list of pitfalls could continue. We were not all-inclusive but we are not big drinkers so we didn't see the value. Many of the families staying left the resort to have food off the site because the quality of food was just not there and the variety wasn't either. At this point, I don't think the Real Camino should be offering non-all-inclusive.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our room was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom luxurious, the view of the ocean and pool breathtaking. We loved the pool and beach with endless towels, shady and sunny lounge chairs. Although we did not take advantage of it, there were plenty of servers offering meals, and drinks. Our maid, Elizabet, was sooooo nice and considerate. There were 2 weddings on the beach while we were there and we got to enjoy the music, dancers, and light show. Great birdwatching from our private deck. We planned to take day trips up the coast, but could not pull ourselves away from the property
Cons: Jeez, the worst I can come up with is the comfy chair in our room needed to be reupholstered.
6.0 Good
Pros: Beds were nice, beautiful facility
Cons: Food wasnt good, beer not cold, need more garbage receptacles around pool area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the privacy of our room and the plunge pool.
Cons: The food was a little pricey. We weren’t in the all-inclusive.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The beach is amazing! The food is good (not wow but good) and value for the price! Much better than staying at an all inclusive. The pool and installations are great. Our beach front view from the room was surreal. The hotel is perfect for just staying at the beach with margaritas all day long.
Cons: I had a reservation for a king bed and they gave me double beds. We were on our honeymoon so it wasn't what we expected. I asked and they didn't change it. Also they had a beauty business event those days so you had many women making noise at a party until late and at the beach at day. And I don't think the hotel should host that type of event. It ruins it prestige.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, cleanliness, gated with a guard
Cons: WiFi was very weak. Not useable. Foods and drink staff seemed to forget that we ordered foods at the pool. Cleaning staff still knocked on the door with the “Do not disturb” sign hung on the door knob. Spanish side facing out. A pre-check-out bill available the night before would be nice to review.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The setting is wonderful, the beach very secluded, the rooms all have ocean views, the spacing leaves no sense of overcrowding and the staff and just wonderful. The best place in Huatulco in our view, This was our second visit. We intend to come again.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: Pool area needs serious improvement. Bar is poor. Pool seating is dirty.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location. Helpful staff.
Cons: Hot tub not working and indifferent staff attitude about it.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was great, could improve on food but overall good
Cons: Food was just ok
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was central to so much of what we did. The front desk staff, most waiters, and the housekeeping staff were friendlly and helpful. No complaints about that, but wish that there were more that could speak some English
Cons: There were never enough lawn beds around the pool. We had to get up very early in order to get a bed. Almost all of the TV channels were in Spanish. CNN and Fox were in English, but I was not interested in USA news. Because so many of their guests are from Canada, they should have more English speaking channels.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked it was near the marina and walking distance from many restaurants and arts and crafts shops. and it had parking inside for customers.
Cons: Nothing really, it was very good.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was very good.
Cons: A little dated, but very clean.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: The breakfast is awesome, so many choices. The location is perfect for all exploration by walking, biking... Even a simple walk to a grocery store. Can't be beat. Fresh tasty coffee ready early. Pool clean and inviting.
Cons: Only "opportunity" is to increase WIFI speed but I know it's difficult in buildings made of concrete. Easy solution for us next time is to download your movies before we come.

Pros: Good location Nice staff Clean rooms AC
Cons: The Internet doesn't work very well. You can't drink in the piscine

7.0 Good
Pros: The seafront view from our room, food options on the buffet was amazing. Great it has an adult only bar with the best view of the whole area.
Cons: Small and old beach club and the hotel does not have direct beach access.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Absolutely nothing
4.6 Okay
Pros: The workers were wonderful.
Cons: Poorly laid out, very poor staffing planning, hard to get around, poor-mediocre food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything it was wonderful room clean very good service attractions very nice affordable prices bartenders very attendant housekeepers front desk drivers all Christians were answer nightclub very clean and very nice. Very attentive
Cons: When I did my reservation I have to call 14 times to have somebody to send me my payment receipt and the address of the place that I was going to be at from the hotel
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic buffet at the restaurant by the beach for breakfast and dinner! Many nights, there was live on stage entertainment during dinner.
Cons: We had a problem with our air-conditioning the entire time we were there. They came up several times to attempt to fix it, but the thermostat was not functional. It was either too cold or too hot.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location, room, service, view, options of pools
Cons: Their beach and pool side are not big enough for the amount of people they can host.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, great views, clean rooms
Cons: Food at the a la carte Italian restaurant was terrible and we heard the same from many other people.
6.3 Good
Pros: Location was great. Multiple areas to relax by the various pools. Entertainment provided.
Cons: Considering how expensive it is, it was quite dated and felt like going back in time. Some staff were friendly, however others were quite rude and not attentive or proactive. Lack of food options and food is not of a quality I would expect given price. Drinks were ok however only 1 beer to choose from and sometimes service at bars could sometimes take a very long time as only 1-2 staff member working during peak. Even though it’s all inclusive - this only applies to common areas. No drinks in rooms, not even a mini bar offered. The laundry service is ridiculously expensive and they ruined my t shirts (shrunk them) and still forced me pay for it upon check out. I think I paid about $20 USD for 3 t shirts, 2 pairs of shirts and some underwear. Would not recommend staying here.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: I enjoyed the beds. They were comfortable & clean.
Cons: Honestly I was very dissatisfied with my stay. Staff was very rude almost as if we were a burden to them. Elevators, phones, and coffee maker don’t work. Food was gross, they tried to Americanize it but failed so it wasn’t Mexican or American.

9.2 Excellent (826 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Nestled on the beach, this Santa María Huatulco property is just steps from Bahías de Huatulco and Huatulco Beach. Chahue Beach is 2.9 mi (4.7 km) away.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Signature pools super clean, wonderful beach area, delicious cocktails, fun water sports. We definitely feel in love with Huatulco. The hotel is conveniently located and the sea is very calm. Management allowed us to stay an extra night at the same rate given our was flight was cancelled due to inclement weather. They also sent champagne and a fruit basket to our room to compensate for the front desk's mistake. Overall great value for the money, we'll definitely look into an adults only resort next time.
Cons: We were assigned to an occupied room at our arrival, which was very inconvenient as we disrupted another guest's stay. Once we got to the correct room, the lock stopped working, which happened like three times and was very annoying. Hallway Floors were cracked throughout the 3rd floor where our room was located. Buffets and restaurants did not have enough seafood variety.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of our room was perfect. The staff in the restaurant El Patio was incredible in the evening and at night beginning with the waiter Felipe. The beach front bar is amazing and the waiter and bartender Edie was very attentive and professional.
Cons: There wasn't anything about the facility I didn't like.
7.1 Good
Cons: No internet in rooms or on main areas Restaurants crowded at night ...no preference for preferred guests
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The 24 hr room service was awesome! The poolside bar service was amazing. And the rooms, property and staff were amazing!
7.1 Good
Pros: We order a room with 2 double beds and got 1 king size bed. They said they didn't have any double room available... and if we want the will charge us extra.... When we asked to change the room they charged us 65 dollars more for a kid although in our voucher from booking it was written free of charge for kids using the room facilities... Didn't help anything .we had to pay extra.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone was so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived

Pros: Good location, beautiful pool but crowded with kids. Beach club was great.

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: Great staff at front desk. Comfortable room. Quiet room.
Cons: The food was poor at times. On our first breakfast (non-inclusive) I was served 2 cold eggs with no sausages etc as part of American breakfast. As a result we ate breakfast daily across the street which was far superior in terms of service and quality. Then we ate at the Italian buffet which was not good.
7.0 Good
Pros: Food is great
Cons: Very noisy

Pros: First class service. Breakfast. Let us stay in our room until late afternoon due to late flight. Yje staff resolved problems within seconds. The front desk staff are 5 star and bend over backwards to fix anything and always reply it was a pleasure. And
Cons: Nothing. It is perfect
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast typical Oaxaca dishes were great and the price is fair because the coffee, bread and fruit is included
Cons: Some brands of mezcal shots or drinks are very expensive 400 pesos
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast here is a must!! The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are impecable. The best view from your room in all of Tangolunda Beach. It’s our 5th stay here and will come again.
Cons: Check out could be easier
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were amazing as was the views!
Cons: We would have loved it if we would have been told that we could have exchanged money right there. We spent so much time going to the local banks. Only to find out on our last day that we could have done it right on the property. We also weren't told that the Sister Property close by was also available to use, for breakfast, dinner, drinks, or the gym! Strange not to tell your guests about ammenities like this.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff... beyond helpful! This place isn’t fancy but it was clean and comfortable. There is a great little bar and restaurant that serves inexpensive delicious authentic Mexican food... and tons of it! The pool is near the restaurant and has good cover and plenty of chairs. A short walk ( turn left out the front door and walk maybe 3-4 blocks) and then a right hand turn and you are down at the beach . Great little restaurant right at the beach... ask for Cornelius ...you’ll never be without a cold cerveza and he’ll make sure you get the best seat! Again... the price is right. We had to stay at this place because our flight was cancelled... we didn’t chose it as a holiday destination . But after staying here, I’d have no problem recommending it as a short term or long term option!
Cons: If you’ve got a lot of luggage...you’ll have to hike the stairs. Not too tough but maybe an issue for older people.
6.0 Good
Pros: Pool was not cleaned daily; it always looked dirty.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We LOVED the waiters at the pool and dining room. Beds were comfortable and clean. Close to the beach. We ordered room service on the evening of February 28th and it was delivered promptly and pleasantly by the waiter (whom we had dealt with around the pool, great guy). Food was good.
Cons: We requested a ground floor room (mobility issues..new hip). No elevator to second floor (although our bags were carried up after requesting a couple of times). We paid for two morning breakfasts but since we had to leave for the airport at 7:00, breakfast was too late for us. We requested a refund or at least credit for another meal (we ate lunch and dinner with drinks on our first day). No coffee/tea, cups or glasses in room.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The manger was rude yelled at me when trying to speak to a nice a girl at the desk who offered me late checkout at 3 which we were not granted she didn't do it forgot to tell me there was a fee ok a mistake but he was rude and incorgeable. He accused me of smoking in my room and others there who did not but did it on the balcony we were threatened with a fine for this which was not explained. Every time I book with you people they never can find the reservation easily without aggravation will never return
Cons: Nothing paid 50 pesos for an Extra room card which constantly did not work myself and others will not return they say 5he speak English which they do not at the desk
7.1 Good
Pros: The wait staff in the restaurant and bar area were pleasant and prompt. The food and beverages are reasonably Riced and for the most part, adequate. The staff suggested items and attempted to communicate directly in either Spanish or English. They apologize for the wait time for delivering change. The ladies who cleaned the rooms did a very good job. They were efficient and very helpful, even to offering and carrying items to our room for us that were very heavy, and refusing to be tipped.
Cons: 1. The front desk staff were very uncaring and unhelpful. When I called a day ahead to reconfirm the reservation, I asked about the check-in time. The woman said that it was 3:00 pm, but if I checked at the desk after 12 and they had any rooms ready for occupying, we could check in early. We arrived at 1:30 and were immediately told by front desk staff that we would have to wait until 3pm. In the meantime, while parking on the hotel lot, we noticed that the room staff, by around 2pm were lounging around in the back of the hotel. When I asked them if they were on break, they said that they had cleaned up all the rooms. No guests were allowed to check in until 3pm. Needless to say, there was a constant lineup at the front desk. Several of us were annoyed by the wait time and lack of care that the front clerks exhibited. Also, the front desk is responsible for collecting money from the restaurant wait staff and for making change and handing out towels to existing customers. There were only 2 employees to do all of these tasks, and taking care of new arrivals, causing a serious delay in check-in efficiency! The hotel does not have anyone at the front desk to help clients with luggage or information. Nor does the hotel have any luggage carts!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large airy rooms, decent pool with comfortable shaded loungers and reasonably priced bar with food. Pleasant 10 minute walk on wide, well illuminated path to La Crucecita. Beach and port close by.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, short walk to Santa Cruz beach and easy/cheap to take taxis to other beaches and into town. Rooms are very clean and staff are super friendly. The pool is nice with lots of shaded loungers as well as a few in the sun.
4.5 Okay
Pros: It has an air conditioning and a swimming pool.
Cons: It was the only available hotel for the new year weekend and it was priced a higher than I want to pay for the type of hotel. We ask for extra pillow bit none were available. The towels given on our second day were pool towel.
7.0 Good
Pros: Pool was great!
Cons: Food wasn’t good.

Pros: Right on the water, well priced drinks and ice when you need it.
Cons: No fridge, pretty quiet at night.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Awesome location, comfortable beds
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a great place to stay in Huatulco! Beachfront- and we swam in the ocean every day. It does have a bit of an undertow but is warm and totally swimmable. The restaurant out on the lawn- Terraza Del Mar is a do not miss! The 6 course tasting menu is about $25 USD a person and sublime! The bed was firm but comfortable and the pool area is gorgeous. Breakfast was good and delicious and all the staff were very kind. It’s very close to La Crucecita but also secluded.
Cons: The only critique I have is the pillows were absolutely horrible. You can feel the individual balls of stuffing and your head is flat on the bed. The other critique and I don’t mean this to be rude but there are animal lamps and art pieces all over the room that seem either childish or just tacky. More modern decor would def add to the experience, but honestly the whole property is so gorgeous it just seems like kind of an odd choice.
7.9 Good
Pros: Good location easy access to everywhere . 2 bottle water provided daily
Cons: No fridge in room no outside drink allowed Front desk staff has limited English skill
5.0 Okay
Pros: Beautiful location. Pools were nice. Rooms were a good size. Some of the staff really tried.
Cons: Smelled like disinfectant. Hard to communicate. Didn’t like the fact that you couldn’t eat anything other than what the resort had to offer or are fined. Others including myself developed stomach issues.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great quiet location on a beautiful beach.
Cons: Not enough pool chairs. Pool chairs VERY uncomfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is central to Hualtuco. It is a perfect place to start from and discover all of the beautiful beaches of Hualtuco. The staff is so friendly! We tried two of the three restaurants at the hotel and they were excellent! All 3 restaurants are run by chefs! Beds were comfortable and the hotel was very clean! We would definitely book here again.
Cons: The beach has strong currents but we still went in anyways. It is good for strong swimmers. The beach is clean and not crowded and no rocks.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great swimming pools, not too crowded, friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.
Cons: Some rooms face a construction site, try to inquire before booking so you don’t end up in one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A quiet beach for a quiet and relaxing holiday. The staff are friendly.
Cons: Friends are staying at the same hotel

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Staff not knowledgeable in how to make drinks and language problems
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff were very accommodating, And pleasant.
Cons: The towels were threadbare. Sheets were grey. TV didn’t work. Pool was very small and the loungers were crammed in to the only space available. You almost had to crawl over people to get to a seat. We went out and paid to go to a pool with room. We only had one meal so I can only speak to that unpleasant experience. Fish tacos were raw inside, loaded with grease and smelled awful. We did not eat the food and did not try again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and clean and the people very nice

9.6 Excellent
Pros: the location, the big bed, the friendliness of the staff
Cons: the room was located right next to the entrance and it was therefore quite noisy as we could here everything what the staff was saying. On my size of the bed the mattrass was deformed
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Safety and is close to downtown.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location close to town centre, not the beach though
Cons: Pool is very small compared to photos and very crowded in the afternoons, basic facilities in general
1.0 Poor
Pros: The location.
Cons: The hotel was very noisy. Staff let guests let their kids run wild in the stairways. There was lots of door slamming. People yelling early in the morning & in the middle of the night. We didn't get much sleep. It certainly wasn't enjoyable.
