Pacific Resort Aitutaki - Aitutaki - Bedroom
1
9.4 Excellent (124 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Aitutaki, Pacific Resort Aitutaki is on the waterfront, within a 5-minute drive of Maungapu and Arutanga Harbour. Featured amenities include a computer station, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary (available on request).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A rare disgruntled local and lack of island facilities were the only negatives we took notice of...wonderful place.
Cons: Nothing that wasn't expected at such a remote place.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The room was fantastic, food was delicious , and views were spectacular. Very private. Personalised newsletters and gifts were a bonus.
Cons: $14 for 3 Ferraro rocher, extremely expensive laundry. Cost me $103 for half a bag of washing. I didn't like how the GM didn't say a word to us W when we were in the foyer, yet spoke to everyone around us. Greeting was very sterile, no smile, just a recited way to explain the facilities and room. I didn't like how the hotel changed their policy to "no children" after we had already booked when the policy allowed children. This took 5 days to resolve and they honoured it. Very sterile environment, no warmth, no local staff.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed and pillows were so comfy and the staff at the resort went out of their way to make our stay special, including a romantic dinner in the beach/bar area. Our villa was breathtaking. My husband was on crutches and their help including moving him around in the golf cart was great, especially as we did not know they had one. Also the spa a wonderful experience.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This resort is incredible - stunning location, amazing service, friendly staff, well equipped rooms, outstanding standard of dining, they think of everything and surprise you with a little bit more. You won't be disappointed.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: All meals, including breakfast were of a very high standard. The service was very friendly and generally to a very high standard. We enjoyed the poolside cocktails, snorkelling and kayaking in the lagoon and exploring the island by bicycle and scooter. We were able to find swimming beaches and experience local cafes and fast food when exploring, with the promise of absolute comfort on our return.
Cons: One problem we experienced on our second night was, despite a specific request, a spicy meal being served to someone who is spice intolerant and could not eat the meal. The staff were very apologetic. We were not quite as satisfied with the Bishops cruise to One Foot Island. The snorkel gear was old/broken and dirty (mouthpieces and screens) - detergent not supplied to clean the screen with: so we could not enjoy the snorkelling as much. The food was disappointing and so was the absence of water from what is included in the tour. - Just charge a bit more (if you need to) and include it!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First class facilities. Magnificent location and views. Friendly efficient happy staff
Cons: Nothing
Tamanu Beach - Aitutaki - Building
2
9.1 Excellent (235 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Aitutaki, Tamanu Beach is by the ocean, a 3-minute drive from Maungapu and 5 minutes from Arutanga Harbour. Featured amenities include a business center, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. Planning an event in Aitutaki? This resort has 904 square feet (84 square meters) of space consisting of conference space and a meeting room. A roundtrip airport shuttle is complimentary (available 24 hours).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is quite close to the airport and not that far from everything else. Beach is only a stones throw away. Our tv had a usb with movies which was excellent at night when after dinner we just stayed in bed watching tv. Loved the outdoor shower and the bathroom is HUGE, very well presented. Nice touch on arrival, we were offered juice perfect on a hot day. Free wifi vouchers too which is a big change from where we stayed in Rarotonga and the free breakfast is a bonus.
Cons: We waited almost an hour and a half for our dinner. We had our entree and waited for the main, we thought something was wrong when the waitress came to collect our plates and asked if we wanted dessert, we told her were still waiting on our mains. Everyone around else was getting their mains and we were still waiting, we were advised that our docket was pushed to the back of everyone else mains cause we had an entree and they didnt. An apology would've sufficed not some bull about our meals. We went to Pacific resort for dinner the next day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tamanu Beach exceeded my expectations. The accommodation was casual luxury, with an ideal location just off the beautiful beach. The premises were clean and well maintained. The beach was fantastic with good snorkelling opposite the restaurant. All staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed breakfasts, lunches (especially the club sandwich) and dinners at the restaurant. A highlight was the Henry Family BBQ Night, which gave insight into the establishment of this family-run business. We enjoyed a complimentary foot soak at the spa. Two of us also had great massages. We really didn't need to go anywhere else! On our last day, we went on a lagoon cruise after we had checked out because we had an evening flight. We really appreciated being able to have a shower when we came back, and to have a quiet place to relax in the lounge until it was time for our shuttle.
Cons: I didn't mind the cats and birds that visited the open air restaurant, but other people may! To me, it was just part of being on a tropical island and the staff were quick to chase them away. People have been asked not to feed them!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the Intimate bungalow, in absolute beachfront position. The location is amazing, so calm and relaxing. The restaurant was very good, both breakfast and dinner. The availability of kayak, snorkeling gears, sups and bicycles for free was very appreciated.
Cons: There were some ants in the kitchen, but in a location surrounded from palms, flowers and sand is totally normal!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in "The Intimate Beachfront Bungalow" and it was stunning - absolute beachfront with an amazing view through the palms and over the lagoon. Beautiful well kept swimming beach and everything we needed for an awesome tropical holiday - would go back in a heart beat!
Cons: Couldn't fault it - "Casual Luxury" for sure!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: the great location
Cons: There limited breakfast menu
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location was lovely and on the beach (as are most properties in Aitutaki), however the lagoon area around the other side of the island is unmistakably the most beautiful water I have ever seen. Restaurant is a walk along the beach to get to and wouldn't be nice if it was poor weather. Gardens are beautiful and pool is small but well looked after and in a beautiful location.
Cons: Reception and restaurant are separate to the accommodation (there is a home in between the two areas) and you have to walk on the road or along the beach to get to it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff ....were all awesome beautiful smiles nothing was a problem....our room was great lovely and roomy...private as well ....very clean...relaxed luxury was correct....we are definitely relaxed....
Cons: nothing.....everything was wonderful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The beach here is like the poster child for perfect beaches! The sand is phenomenally soft and light, and you can swim, snorkel, kayak, and paddleboard right there! This is definitely the calmer side of the island and the water was accessible for swimming even at low tide (be aware that there is a fair amount of coral dotted around the waters here that peeks out at low tide). Our beachfront bungalow was gorgeous! I especially loved the bathroom and the outdoor shower. The restaurant was super yummy (the seafood curry and coconut creme brulee were delicious). And the staff were incredibly helpful! They called to confirm all of our activity bookings and helped us book more. They really went above and beyond to make us feel like we were on holiday and didn't need to worry about anything! I cannot wait to stay here again! (I would not consider lodging on Aitutaki that did not have a restaurant attached as taxis can get pricey. I loved the menu at Tamanu and the island night cuisine at Blue Lagoon.)
Cons: N/A
Matriki Beach Huts - Arutanga - Building
3
9.0 Excellent (129 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Matriki Beach Huts provide absolute beachfront accommodation on the sunset side of the island. You can enjoy snorkelling from the beautiful white sand beach right at the front of the property. The property offers 5 unique self-contained beach huts, each with their own private verandah, simple cooking kitchenette and an open air shower. There are shared toilets, as well as a BBQ and outdoor table setting. Guests can enjoy various activities including snorkelling, hiking, fishing, and diving. Bicycle and semi automatic scooter hire is available on site. The property also has a small private boat available for island and fishing tours for small groups for an additional charge. The nearest airport is Aitutaki Airport 3 km away.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: old charming beach cabin, clean, functional, good for adventurers.
Cons: wifi only available for paid plan, the remote islands have poor slow speed, hopefully with new undersea optic cable it is for the better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: No breakfast, but LOVED the New Zealand Musli with fresh coconut and almonds. The beachfront at Matriki and snorkeling were great. Byron was super-attentive; very helpful. Loved my stay here!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: I spent a wonderful week in the Reef Hut. The location is wonderful and the hosts were fantastic. Just be aware that this accommodation is very basic. No frills at all, but clean and tidy. That said, it was just what I was looking for. I can't wait to go back again!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location can't be beat, you are literally on the beach in 5 seconds! Snorkeling is easy, and beach walk is always beautiful and safe to do anytime. The snorkeling trip organized by the host's father was amazing, highly recommended.
Cons: The shared toilet is a short walk away and shower is only feasible in late afternoon because it is a solar outdoor shower, so it is a bit limiting if you want to use the facilities often/at all hours. The hut also feels a bit stuffy being close to the water and unable to leave the door open due to the mosquitoes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s right on the beach central to main town and restaurants
Cons: Nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We did the lagoon boat tour with Matriki. It was the highlight of out trip! Our guide Mathias was super knowledgeable about the lagoon. There were only five of us on the boat, and he really made sure that we got to see all the best parts of Aitutake! Absolutely worth the trip!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners and staff were amazing! Great location.
Cons: Toilets (septic system), upstairs mattresses, shower water heating.
9.4 Excellent
Pros: Couldn't have ask for a better beachfront hut if we tried. Great beach and snorkeling right outside the front door... and like others have said, we too think it was the best beach on Aitutaki! Great access to local shops and stores for all that you need and a basic, but functional, little kitchenette perfect for breakfast and lunch to keep the budget on track. Bicycles for Island exploring and Paul (Lisa was out of "town" during our stay) was always available to answer questions or book activities as needed. All the amenities you could ask for in a true AFFORDABLE little beach hut! Thanks for a great stay Paul - we'll DEFINITELY be back!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Matriki Beach Huts exceeded our expectations! If you’re looking for a resort, this is not the place for you. The huts are basic and you have to walk to an outdoor toilet. However, the toilets are beautifully clean and well maintained. I’ve travelled a lot and this was hands down one the best places I’ve ever stayed! The location is to die for, and you cannot beat the price! We met other couples who payed more than five times as much per night as we did at neighbouring resorts with the exact same view and beachfront. I cannot rave about this place enough! I’d love to go back and spend a month or more there.
Cons: Walking to the outdoor bathroom in the middle of the night was inconvenient but definitely not a deal breaker
10.0 Excellent
Pros: English is my second language, but I will do my best to describe my experience here. It’s rustic but efficient. I love the price. You got most thing you need. We loved the ocean breeze blow on you through the window, listening to waves when sleeping, and look at millions stars on beach chairs. The owners help you when needed and to leave you alone to relax at the same time. As other people mentioned, they have one of the best beach for snorkelling. I liked the out door shower and being able to cook your own food. If you are looking for a full service resort, this may not the right place for you. However, I had more fun to stay at here than some resorts where I stayed previously.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, amazing place and position, wonderful lagoon, all this made it a unique and unforgettable experience. I definitely recommend the Aitutaki Village! Meitaki Atupaka!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Maria and Nora
7.9 Good
Pros: Aitutaki island itself is simply stunning and amazing - the lagoon is like one endless pool - blue on blue on blue paradise! The property had great access to the lagoon and only 4-min drive to the airport! Staff were friendly and it was peaceful! It was picture perfect!
Cons: The property is minimalistic! No drawers to place your everyday belongings, no wardrobe only open rack, no safe, no TV to watch at night time when winding down after a big day out! Being foodie people, we only ate out as their meals were less than average and didn't really cater for our dietary needs as initially stated - minimal choices! Due to its location - to get around the island, it is a must to hire a moped or car! We were disappointed with local snorkelling - we went to 2 areas and no good snorkelling! Great snorkelling is out in the lagoon - you have to do a day trip with one of the local tour companies.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and nice. My bungalow even had part views of the lagoon. A very satisfying place.
Cons: The attached restaurant Blue Lagoon was a bit of a disappoinment. The complimentary breakfast was rather basic. For lunch and dinner at least half the items on the menu weren't available. But there are alternatives close by, i.e. the Boat Shed.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Right on the lagoon, beautiful location.
Cons: Fairly basic for the nightly cost but I think every accommodation on the island is quite pricey.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: loved the location of this property and the staff there were so friendly and helpful
Cons: nothing
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is beautiful, and the rooms are also very nice and tidy, but it was the staff that excelled most of all. They went above and beyond at every opportunity. Thanks for a great experience.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location in relation to the lagoon, the service staff manager was lovely and open for feedback. Our dinner was nice, office staff was exceptional. The pina colada was excellent.
Cons: The mattress, pillows, shower did not drain and water was tepid. Half of the service staff in the restaurant were cool or unpleasant initially and some came around with time. The lagoon view was blocked by a large 3 tier barge. The breakfast was a poor continental breakfast. Even if the only added eggs it would be a meaningful difference. The beverage selection was limited. For the price we expected a bit more basic comfort.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely fresh fruit but only found out on last morning that we could order eggs :)
Cons: No room at the table for dinner with our friends :(
Paradise Cove Lodge - Arutanga - Building

8.6 Excellent (327 reviews)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very rustic little bungalows, right on the waters edge. Awesome views from the blacony and a great place to chill out. Very helpful and happy staff in a very laid back island lifestyle. Fresh fruit for breakfast every morning was delishious. If your not looking for no frills or fuss this place is the best to unwind and watch the fish go by.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: View doesn't get much better than here. Breakfast is brought to your cabana which is nice to be able to enjoy on the deck. Transportation to and from the airport was included. Great value for the money. You could rent a motorbike with the front desk. Beach in front of the cabanas is really nice. Great sunset views.
Cons: We had a problem with cockroaches in the bathroom - they kept coming up from the drain. It was our last night though so we didn't have time to address the issue with the property. About a 15 minute walk to any food place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location on the lagoon, friendly helpful staff, comfortable, kitchenette, bikes available on site for hire.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: i loved the easy access to the beach and the friendliness of the staff.
Cons: i was not too thrilled to be woken at 7.30am for a tray of breakfast. Ideally, it would be so much better to go to a breakfast area between the hours of 7.30-9.30am and enjoy a buffet breakfast. it would also give you the opportunity to interact with others. Also, our cabin did not have any air-conditioning so it was a little uncomfortable in the heat.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great sunset views. Maine was really welcoming and helpful. We loved it here!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every thing
Cons: No
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location with nice beach for walking/running. The breakfast was tasty with fresh fruit. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The snorkeling in the lagoon is incredible.
Cons: Mosquitoes and roosters are annoying, but that's the environment. The selection at the small food stores is very limited, especially fresh fruit and vegetables. I will purchase more items in Rarotonga the next time that we return.
7.7 Good
Pros: First off, the Paradise Cove Lodges are truly a wonderful budget option for Aitutaki. Many of the other places to stay are well above the very reasonable cost of the Lodges. The Lodges (beachfront ones) are very nice, clean, with a great ceiling fan, screens, kitchen facilities and a nice bed. Usually the ocean breezes keep you comfortable. They have a great balcony to watch the sunsets or for lounging around. The beach in front of the lodges is nice, but be sure you bring water shoes because there are lots of coral. There is a nice place to swim in front of the lodge (in fact folks came from places down the beach to swim here). The snorkeling is OK but compared to the other places to snorkel on the East side of the island in the stunning lagoon, there is no comparison. All in all, an nice budget option. The staff of the lodge are really nice and accommodating. They will go out of their way to help you. The restaurant serves good food, but in off season, it sometimes has sporadic hours. The drinks at happy hour are a good deal, especially the beer and wine. The breakfast we basic but they had good fresh fruit. And other than Puffy's (serving excellent fish and chips) there are no other close by places to eat. The paid Wifi at the reception area and restaurant worked very well.
Cons: Now the caveat - hot water. We did not have consistent hot water in the 9 days we were there. We were told a number of times they were working on it, but it got to be a bit of a pain (chill!) taking cold showers days after day. The hot water would sometimes come on for about 15 seconds, but that was usually it. In their defense, we used one of their family units the last day for late check out and we both had very nice warm showers, so I do believe them that they were working on fixing the problem (some parts of the property are on different hot water systems. Would I stay there again? Not until I got confirmation about the hot water. But next time we come back, we will probably go for a place on the East side (the lagoon side) of the island. But if you want a decent budget place to stay, I recommend the Paradise Cove.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location was great. Swimming hole right out front. Scooter hire on site. No dogs on the island so safe to drive scooter.
Cons: Trees in front of Deck needed a trim. Roster noise started at 4am went for 5 or 10 mins then quite. Then again an hour later and so on. You slowly get use to it. They are all over the island.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was fabulous. The staff were lovely. Couldn't speak highly enough them. My husband arranged a candlelit dinner for 2 on the beach and it was amazing.
Cons: The resort was a little dated. We feel the amount we spent on the accommodation was just reflected in the location and the type of room we picked. The food was ok but not fabulous. Lots of the amenities weren't open. There was a beach bar that was never open and there was no staff around to ask about the water activities when we went to enquire.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such an amazing location and facilities. Cannot describe enough how great this place is. We only stayed a couple of nights because it was out of our budget but we didn’t want to miss out on staying here, and it was 100% worth it. We wish we’d stayed longer! Most of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and all the little details that were included made it feel even more luxurious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Apart from the sensational location of the resort, the best part for us were the wonderful people who ran the resort - greeting us at the airport, reception, attending the grounds, running the ferry, maintaining the property, cleaning etc). Staff were open, helpful, friendly, accessible and went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. We felt valued and special. Meitaki atupaka!!
Cons: Unfortunately the one dinner we had at the resort was particularly disappointing. Waiters were fabulous but the food didnt come up to scratch or price. The two neighbouring restaurants were far superior. Breakfast was fine - continental with fresh local fruit. We did enjoy the entertainment!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome location! A small private picturesque island, lovely bungalows, break-taking views. Absolutely LOVED our time there! Must get a lagoon tour & then just relax the rest of your trip enjoying being in heaven!

Pros: Please call me 562 325 3659. Only stayed one night. Need refund. Hotel had a fire across the street all smoke in hotel had to move. Please refund 2 nights.
Cons: Smoke
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Na whom met us is a beautiful lady and a great character. Na made us feel comfortable and welcome . If she wasn't married I'd marry her. Jenny was great at reception with rock solid advice. The teams positive energy and smiling faces were a delight. My daughter and I loved the island and the people were gold.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Papa Rino, Jennifer the receptionist who is professional, friendly and kind, large, spacious room, large comfortable bed, large bathroom, hot showers, beach at your feet, in the heart of a local community, “takeaways” within walking distance, opportunity to rent a scooter or a car, quiet, calm and almost silent all day and especially at night, clean, fresh air, free breakfast with good variety (e.g. pancakes and papaya, etc.)and especially Papa Rino’s sweet smile and laugh! I will miss him. Thank you, Rino!
Cons: Lace curtains by the kitchen sink and above the bed are too transparent. You can see right through them so there isn’t any privacy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money, great location and super helpful staff
Cons: Everything was good
2.5 Mediocre
Cons: They cancelled my booking for their convenience. After that they never sent me any message about refund. I paid it all, I don’t know if they have refunded. I don’t know why they don’t reply my message soon. I never receive any message. I checked on my credit cards and I already paid all of 3night to Rino’s. I want to know the details.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very lovely people and good service! Bungalow is clean and spacious with a beautiful view on the ocean. Breakfast was delicious. We recommend to rent a vehicle to be able to move around the island.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Mr Rino and staff friendly and helpful. Picked us up from the airport. Within walking distance to local shops and takeaways. Aitutaki a beautiful place to visit
Cons: We were allocated room 11 upstairs, clean but needing an upgrade, microwave didn't work, electric fry pan but no power lead, toaster had an American plug could not be used. Garden unit overlooking the carpark. On the lagoon but the recommendation was not to swim there. A car ($70 per day) is required to go anywhere. All that for $285 per night!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was amazing. Food was amazing. Staff were amazing - treated us like family.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rino's staff make the stay, Nga and Ma and the team are welcoming, friendly, funny, caring, inviting, inclusive and a wealth of knowledge. They were more than willing to answer any questions, make any plans and give the best advice about the island and what was going on. The breakfasts are AMAZING! Pancakes, cereal, toast, coffee, island fruits fresh and tasty every day - but the best thing - EVER - is the freshly made juice, I wish I could have brought the recipe home. Having the rentals there also, just so accommodating and friendly. We had to change our rental plan and it was no issue at all. So easy. From the moment we got off the plane at Aitutaki and were greeted by Nga with the most fragrant fresh flower lei, and from then on things just got better and better. I am already making plans to go back within the next year and will definitely look to stay and Rino's again.
Cons: For what we wanted and needed, all expectations were blown out of the water in the best ways. It's mid range pricing with the best staff and great facilities. Nothing is far away on Aitutaki and the location is wonderful. I did run outta reading material on the one fully rainy day we had so maybe a few more books/magazines in the rooms or office would be cool (there was a few books lying around and some available at the store across the road)….other than that - hard to offer improvement advice.

Pros: The thing I liked the most is how friendly the staff is. Rupae the manager was soo helpful to us and made our trip really eventful
Cons: Nothing
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing to like
Cons: A farce, Not on the beach, rooms very old and tired. Rotten floor with ants pouring out of it. All of the online photos are doctored as the accommodation looks nothing like the web photos. Drawer fell apart when opened. A very dirty and broken down place with no beach or water views from the rooms and we were shown beaches to use away from Kuru before we booked in, no wonder. Bathrooms disgusting.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We got to use a car for the evening and to get our selves to the airport. Pool was very nice and clean.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Rupe was very helpful, Staff was pleasant,
Cons: The pics of Kuru, make it look better than it really is, but if you want a getaway that is peaceful, & your not too fussy about where you stay then this is the place to go.
6.0 Good
Pros: Clean, modern room and a nice pool. Electric car was great.
Cons: Wifi, breakfast and watersports are all falsely advertised on their website, although I did see one SUP. Although only about 3 years old. the roof is badly rusting, and paint, plaster and exterior cladding is coming away. Communal cooking/BBQ area is uninviting and looks more like staff quarters. There is zero street appeal and little tourist info available. Manager Rupe obliging and friendly but unenthusiastic. Tuna can stuffed with rubbish left poolside all while we were here. Aircon unavailable for most of our stay, apparently generator needs parts.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Appreciated being picked up on arrival and taken to our accommodation. Very tidy accommodation and facilities. Only a short 10 min walk to cafes & restaurants. Loved sitting on the jetty at night star gazing. Beautiful location.
Cons: Being a few km's to the cafes & lagoon means a bit of walking if staying a few days. An option for the Kuru Club to rent push bikes or scooters would be perfect but their's always a taxi if happy to wait.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderful. Need a hire car but the property arranged an electric hire car at a very readable rate which was fun to drive. In a more isolated area but close to 2 best eating places and swimming beaches (by car 5 minutes
Cons: Staff delightful

Pros: we stayed 2 nights at private lagoon resort and 2 nights here, but when we arrived at the reef motel , we felt quite satisfied! comparing to the high end resort. firstly ,reef motel have freshwater for shower while the water coming out of all tap in lagoon resort is very salty which means you can never get a real shower. Secondly , it's very clean mainly because the reef motel use tile as floor material while lagoon resort is made of all wood and it's glutinous everywhere! thirdly, Ana is really helpful and nice, you will not see the trained high-end hotel employees' smile on her face, but she make the stay here relaxing and comfortable. reef motel is a simple but pleased stay in Aitutaki

Pros: Arna was the only member of staff we met. She was lovely and very obliging, booking transfers to and from the airport prior to our arrival and other things while we were there. Our room was serviced mid stay and was immaculate on arrival. Queries made prior to our arrival were answered quickly.

Pros: Staff very accommodating.

Pros: Location was okay for us. And the philipino lady i didnt get her name... She was amazing and helpful information and recommendation....to do in the island And just to have a chat
Cons: The pools was dirty.
6.3 Good
Pros: Anna was really helpful and nice. She is based at the property and always available for anything you need. Thank you Anna.
Cons: Facilities weren't what we expected based on the photos and garden view is more like a garden equipment storage view. The nights were loud, many roosters around who were keeping us awake every single night. All rooms are also close to the pool and can get pretty loud.

Pros: The manager was absolutely amazing... very kind helpful
Cons: Lots of ants around in the shower

Pros: The lady managing the place was very friendly and helpful. The room was just what our family needed.

Pros: Comfortable, clean rooms and bathroom. Ana the host was very helpful, friendly, polite and considerate. She goes over and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful experience. Quiet location not too far from the main town of Aitutaki. Great value! We really enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay here again.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great beach/lagoon side location and convenient for access to the whole island. Very helpful in greeting at airport, taking to shop for food and organising transport and activities during our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location straight on the beach with stunning views. Decent size deck/balcony. Only 3 huts. Well maintained self-catering huts with well working hot showers. Fully(!) equipped kitchen. Good quality interior/equipment. Some bordering luxury (i.e. large fluffy towels). Good cod for baby supplied for free. Plenty of good (new?) canoes. Free use of communal laundry including detergent.
Cons: No swimming or snorkeling directly in front of the property. But quite close by. Not negative but for information: No restaurants or shops very close by. Own transport like scooter or car recommended to make the most out of the great location and self-catering setup.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed here for 4 nights with my husband and 2 children (ages 6 and 7). We didn't want to leave. Fabulous location right on the beach. So relaxing. Beautiful sunsets! We enjoyed kayaking everyday, when the tide was in. Snorkelling directly out front (and also further up the beach at the end of the old airstrip) was not great for coral, but there were some lovely fish. As an introductory snorkelling spot for my 2 young kids it was great. Fairly shallow and good visibility. Better snorkelling to be had on lagoon cruises. The bungalow was well equipped in the kitchen. There was ample hot water. The deck out front of No. 2 was shaded and a perfect vantage spot for the marvellous location. Tearoa, our hostess was very welcoming and helpful. We hope we are fortunate enough to return!
Cons: Not really a criticism, but just a note to other travellers with kids: My family squeezed in to the bungalow, but there is only enough room for 1 queen bed and a single (I shared the queen bed with the kids and my husband had the single). We chose to do this because of the fantastic location of the property and we are glad we did, but for families with older kids/larger families these bungalows may not be for you, or you may need more than one bungalow.
1.0 Poor
Pros: It was in the beach
Cons: The accommodation was not at all what was advertised. It was run down , not clean. The tv did not work . Checked out after 1night and asked for refund for the 2 nights we would not stay in this awful place. We would have not stayed the 1st night if it wasn’t late and we could get into any other accommodation. We got no answer to our question.A disappointing start to our honeymoon. The accommodation was much further away from restaurants than advertised. We have photos to show the state of the accommodation. We were charged for the free airport shuttle.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location was quiet and relatively private yet close to a great café and other attractions. The sunsets over the water were stunning. We loved riding around the island on a scooter: no helmet required but the speed limit on the island is only 40kmh so we felt very safe.
5.0 Okay
Pros: It is very private
Cons: It is a self catering unit which is located in the middle of no way which has high privacy and was very peaceful .Theses are pluses but we need to highly depend on our own cooking bc we did not rent a car. Many kitchen equipments were broken such as oven did not work, no chopping board and can opener was broken etc. Though at the end the manager managed to supply the new ones but the oven still did not work. Air conditioning on the other unit did not work( we rented two units) There was a construction of the new property only 5 meter away from one unit that we rented . It constantly created a lot of noise and dust from wood cutting blown to our unit. This was quite annoying but at the end the manager moved us to the other unit . We pay extra $100 nz for an extra bed per night but the quality of bed and bed sheet was very poor as shown in the photo, the bed sheet was old and torn , the extra bed is made of poor quality thin sponge , not comfortable to sleep on . There are a lot of room to improve in term of service ( manage did not impress up in terms of hospitality) , untillites and toiletries supplied to clients . If those mentioned have improves , it will be a very nice place to have peaceful vacation.

Pros: Great sunset views. Maine was really welcoming and helpful. We loved it here!

Pros: Every thing

7.1 Good
Pros: I appreciated free kayaks and the possibility to rent bikes. Location so close to the lagoon and some amazing views. Good price as for Aitutaki.
Cons: Water from the tap was salty and we weren’t instructed where to get drinkable one. Location far from any grocery stores. No bathroom door, it was just a curtain that waved when the windows were open not giving you even a little privacy. Bad smell outside.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: The location was amazing! Right on the beach overlooking Akitua.
Cons: The accommodation.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location.
Cons: nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great location and clean and comfortable accommodation. We had a lagoon front room, the back rooms were more basic and of course no view but all rooms were clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This accommodation is in a beautiful setting overlooking the lagoon. We stayed in a beachfront cabin (but smaller / cheaper cabins with a partial beach view are available) It’s clean, spacious, has a rest area (settee & dining table), and a really well stocked kitchen (fridge / microwave / hob, free tea / coffee) hot water showers, fan and AC, pool, free use of kayaks, a BBQ and free water refills. There is a book lending library. You can also rent scooters / cars from the owner and he can organise tours. The owner is friendly and very helpful. WiFi is available from the property to purchase (like everywhere in the Cook Islands) and very good - you can use it all over Aitutaki and Rarotonga as long as you’re in a hotspot) It’s a 30minutes walk to the airport and is near 2 restaurants and a cafe however you need transport to get to the shops / grocery store. There are no buses on the island. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I booked a Budget Double Room at the Raginui's Retreat. Steve picked us up from the airport and gave us a tour of the property. Complimentary drinking water and fresh bananas were ours for the taking. The location is perfect, just on Ootu Beach, walking distance to the three restaurants in the area. Both Lani and Steve were amazing hosts, very accommodating and helpful, as it was our first time on the island. Kayaks were also available for use, included in our regular hotel fee. SUPs were also available at a minimal charge of $10/hour. Highly recommend the hammock and chaise lounge as we spend a ridiculous amount of time on those. Room was very clean and we appreciated the double layer (very close to blackout) curtains. The room was perfect for all of our needs, and towels were switched out daily unless we requested otherwise. Steve and Lani also helped suggest nearby activities and helped us book the activities and transport to the activities. We will definitely return. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Cons: Everything was perfect!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place with beautiful beach just around. Free use of kayaks to explore lagoon.
Cons: The bad wasn't very comfortable.
7.0 Good
Pros: Quite happy but needs an upgrade on some units. Staff friendly and helpful and a very handy location. Wouldnt hesitate in returning again.
