space and convenience
We had a minor problem with our dinner, the main course was very dry and unpalletable as if left standing, it wasn't that busy! However to their credit when we made our concerns known the staff were courteous and professional, offering to replace our order with another choice or no charge for the offending items.
The rooms were beautifully refurbished especially the bathrooms. Super modern and luxurious
quiet and good value Breakfast roll not as fresh as last few times otherwise very good
We've spent 90 days traveling throughout 18 countries in Europe staying most nights in hotels for no more then one or two days at a time and Van der Valk was definately one of the better ones. So no real complaints. Friendly staff - as always - I have been staying there for years
easy to find ,all embracing, good service unchanging over the years
Clean room, food in restaurant good, staff friendly, location for work Laundry service slow (27 hrs), Late breakfast start (7am too late)
Nice hotel, good food, nice atmosphere, lots of space The cockeral at 05.00
distance between hotel and customer Smell, staff attention in restaurant
The location was central to the city center. Easy access to various restaurants, cafes and pubs. The staff were friendly and inviting. During the week of World Cup round of 16 and first set of quarterfinals, the staff set up a large-screen projection system to view the some games. Exciting time during the quarterfinal of The Netherlands vs. Brazil.
Friendly staff. Excellent kitchen. Central position. Room rather small, although all necessities were there and worked OK.
Friendlyness of the staff, and the efficient service.
the breakfast was good, the room was clean the standard room is above the restaurant, so we paid more to change to a quiet room. except the price, others were good.
Location, ffod and beveargae Location of rooms at the front of the hotel, VERY noisy on Friday and Saturday nights untill 4am.
Awake till 4AM because the room was not isolated and the hotel turns out to be in the clubbing zone of Assen. If you like noise while you're trying to sleep, this is the right place to go. Car was towed away in the morning as it turned out there was a town market. "we tell our staff to inform our guests about this, but apperantly the staff member forgot". That'll be 220 Euro then. The hotel staff doesn't take license registrations, but they do get informed when cars are being towed. How hard is it to ask for a reg and inform the guests their car is about to be towed. Very poor customer service and absolute ignorance from staff.
Helpful, friendly staff who spoke good English. Good food also. Room walls so thin that snoring man in adjacent room kept me awake all night!
Breakfast Room too small, the sloping roof was just too sloped, difficulty standing upright! (particularly in the shower room)
Good service and willing to help out with additional services. The wifi did not work in my room.
Close to the station, good menu and breakfast, easy and quick check-in and check-out, internet. Not the most quiet hotel.
In very pleasant location , backs onto lakeside , Plenty of car parking . Large rooms , nice bar / terrace .
possibility of going to the spa
Good position close to lake but easy 6km cycle into Groningen.Comfortable beds.Nice pool & free tennis courts. Kitchen closed at 9pm on Saturday night in high season even though the room information said room service was available til 10. We had to get in the car & go into city to eat, instead of a nice relaxing meal on terrace as planned. We would have eaten earlier if we'd known!
Very good and personal service. Quick and easy check-in/-out. Very good with several available bagage cart.
The friendliness of the staff The menu in the dinning room for Dinner, is very limited and old fashioned. No choice for vegetarians. This is a big drawback as there are no other restaurants within walking distance.
Lovely quiet location, comfortable, clean and quiet room Wireless internet could have been better but nothing major
Good reception. Efficient, personal. Very quiet location. The place to have a rest. Spacious, comfortable rooms. Everything works. Brasserie menu and execution is acceptable but not of the same standard as the rest.
nice relaxing area around, and nice close to City Groningen
Good facilities - pool, sauna etc. Quiet and relaxing
very friendly staff
The beds were very comfortable. The hotel offered free bikes for guests to use. I was charged an additional fee without my knowledge.
very helpful hotel stuffs bed size--Two double beds means not one twin and one double. and restaurant-- waitress takes her time serving dinner. It took over two hours to finish. Changed the desert without notice. I was looking forward to see the desert on the menu since I never had it before.--, bit pricey.
The hotel is located conveniently close to the town of Groningen and still offers the advantage of staying in the countryside. The design is quite basic, but comfortable. The carpets in the corridors are indeed due to a change! Breakfast is quite nice in a spacy breakfast room. Friendly staff at the reception. Despite our request we were booked into a room which was facing the highways and the noise level is indeed quite high. Even with the window closed there is still a lot of noise in the night, so it seems impossible to sleep with an open window.
precio-comfort 10 location 10 very very good staff nothing have been there many times all everytime 10
Fit for purpose, budget business style, three star hotel. No frills, plentiful parking. Expensive mini-bar & I didn't take up the 15 Euro breakfast.
staff, location stairs, no ramps, somewhere hidden an elevator
Reception staff were particularly helpful and friendly. Brreakfast was nice but too expensive!
Nothing special, but good value for money.
Hotel was very clean , room was lovely, great location, good facilities
great comfy beds the prices !
This hotel have a TV is very small and the food was bad I don’t recommend this hotel
Nice hotel, room was comfertable
Reception staff were very helpful and breakfast was plentiful.
friendly staff, absolutely delicious food, although breakfast was disappointing, rooms spacious and very nicely done, bathroom bit small
the good atmosphere and nice dinner the breakfast was below standard
breakfast was good rooms spacious but too empty
room prepared for our pet dog, breakfast
Lovely hotel nice bar and restaurant close to village centre with plenty of other bars and places to eat. Good bus route to Assen. This is a lovely part of the Netherlands to explore. Really missed not have tea and coffee maker in room. Found it very expensive for what we got.
We had a wonderful time and hotel was very convenient, staff was extremely helpful, location was great in center of Rolde with grocery store, bakery, bike shop and pub very close. We loved it and hope to have the opportunity to return for another stay
Situated in a small town this hotel offered us a very friendly welcome, a very nice large bedroom recently refitted and an excellent restaurant with first class food. Overall an excellent experience and I would not hesitate to stay again.
great service, really good food
The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel was in a nice location close to the countryside, but with nearby local shops, restaurants etc. It would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities.
helpful staff ,bike hire, quite location in a small village
The original family room that we had been able to book online was a complete dump, worse off than a $30 a night motel in the USA!!! We were upgraded to a "luxury" room at a cost of an extra €30 upon our request. The luxury room was OK but definitely not worth the €130. Staff was unfriendly; never bothered to tell us that they lock up at 9 pm so we had to wake up their neigbours to get in!
Suprisingly good, but food closed early no food available
Service and Food
Very helpful stuff.Great brackfast and information regard site seeng and activities. Wuld be better if room was aquipt with AC instead of fan.
Sleeping I didn't asked for this hotel. I received this hotel as a alternative. Therefor, the room was to small, the bathroom also, the furniture were not fixed
Excellent location, good facilities. Helpful and pleasant staff. Room on top floor was quite warm in height of summer. A ceiling fan or other air circulation would have helped.
Ambiance 100% self service at breakfast. It would be much nicer when coffee was served together with, in stead of checking one's room number only.
TT circuit was nearby Poor kitchen. Not really supportive behavior of staff regarding cancellation (Only 1 room of 3 has been cancelled but the 1 room was charged!). In general friendly crew and very nice place.
I particularly liked the food, it was of a standard to match hotels with a larger star rating. I think at the cost it was very good value and the staff were excellent. It could benefit from a spa facilkity
The hotel and staff always offer a very warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble and the setting is fantastic. The rooms are always very clean and the room service is second to none.
Great design of the room, very clean, lots of space, parking available. It is a family business and the owners are truly interested to make you feel at home there. Great, one of the best hotels I stayed in so far. I drove there at night and it was somewhat hard to find it. The GPS took me close to the hotel but I had to drive around for another few minutes before spotting it. No big deal, the place is quite small.
The 4 Seasons was the best Bed & Breakfast that I have ever used. The house was immaculately clean and stylish, and the landlady was extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely first "Klaas"
Elegance, good taste, gentile. The location could be rather a Boutique Hotel. The staff is kindly (very friendly). The breakfast is delightful. What we most appreciate, was the care for details, the dishes, table clothes, napkins were in perfect harmony. Even the fresh floral arrangements had an adequate chrome. Because were cycling through Holland, we asked the staff if it is possible to have a take a way breakfast at 7AM in the morning, earlier than the usual hour for their breakfast (8AM). Not only she was so kind and she gave us a great and tasty meal for our expedition, but she putted so much, that we were embarrassed (ill at ease) of her politeness.
Very friendly owners. Owner/operator spoke English. B&B was on a bus route and it was convenient to get into the city of Assen and to the train station. Great breakfast, very clean and quiet.
