Gas tank was not all the way full when we picked it up in Auckland. Told them in Wellington at drop off but not sure we will get credited the difference, as we returned it with a completely full tank.

Pros:

staffs needs more training, they gave me wrong information caused me waisted 1.5 hours and extra Uber ride between 2 drop off locations.

Cons:

The online disclosure were not clare. I booked one way trip from Auckland to Christchurch for total 7 days. The disclosure shows I can take the rental car from north island to south island by ferry. However, I was told I can not take the car on ferry when I got to counter picking up the car...

Scotty at Auckland airport was great, helpful friendly etc but after that all downhill. I’ve emailed thrifty 3 times about issues with the car and still have had no reply. I called their customer service and the issue was not resolved. The car has been returned but the office was closed at 4 pm on a week day so I could only drop the keys off and still have not been able to speak to anyone. Poor customer service.

Pros:

Very new and clean car. Smooth administration. Just perfect.

Cons:

At the drop-off we had to give the keys to a guy in the car park with a little thrifty sticker on his shirt. We did not get any confirmation that we gave the car back nor that is was still in perfect conditions. It felt a bit weird afterward that we had nothing in your hands to proof that we brought the car back without any damage.

We were charged an extra credit card surchage of of 11 NZ$. I had a quote for this car and all fees, that should have applied. It is mandatory to pay with credit card, so there should not be an extra fee after all.

The navigation GPS system was excellent - indispensable for driving around Auckland. Staff was helpful in changing our original car to something smaller. Car was comfortable and easy to drive.

Didn't realise depot is not on airport grounds but very close and easy to get to via shuttle bus

Cons:

My reservation was never found by dollar when we arrived. Had to rebook the reservation and it delayed us 2 hours. Not dollars fault. It was kayaks. Jazz at Dollar was very accommodating and helped us get a car.
