Horrible Customer Service
Cons: Waited in line for 20 minutes waiting for the 4 customer service people to do something as they stared at the line of customers. Listened to a customer service rep tell a customer that they should just leave because he just couldn't help him. Customer Reps all had attitudes before the lines began.
Our turn and the customer service rep with sarcastic attitude, said since we were early we would have to wait 3 hours...they were out of cars..
when my husband (who is a seasoned traveler) said we could just go to Enterprise, our customer service rep said "go ahead"!! and he repeated several times "you are more than welcome to go somewhere else" If we were not in need at that time and could wait for another company to get a car for us we would have walked away right then.
When we said we would take a car that was not cleaned.. all of a sudden the car that we had reserved was suddenly in the parking lot, washed and gassed up ready to go.. hmmmmm.
In all of our travels we have NEVER been treated like this by any other car company.
The car was fine and it was clean and in great shape...
We will never use Dollar rental at the Tampa Florida Airport again.

Deceptive Counter Person
Cons: I've been renting cars for 25+ years. I always decline the coverages and I always bring back with a full tank.
Counter person said road hazard was mandatory and electing the Payless they fill up the tank was mandatory. I told her that couldn't be the case. She was firm in her stance. It was late and I needed to get on my way. It added about $150 to my rental.
I called while into my rental and got the manager and he took off the charges and apologized and said those were not mandatory but options..

Be wary of a local rental.
Cons: We were unable to rent this car. Upon arrival they said we needed to have a local bill as proof of residency, nothing else was acceptable. I don't know about you, but we don't generally travel with copies of bills on our person. There was nothing in this Kayak reservation that indicated we needed to bring one. We have traveled numerous times by renting the car the day before and returning it in time for our flight the next day. We ended up having to take the airport shuttle made for an even longer airport wait as bad weather made the driver show up early then our plane was hit by lightning before we arrived delaying the flight by several hours until they could get a replacement.

Pros: The car was okay, Someone most likely have been smoking in the car prior to my rental. The driver to the airport was professional and assisted .
Cons: 1. 1 st myself and approx. 12-14 other customers had to wait over and 1 hours in line before we were served. Their were no announcements made during this time as to why or anything else. Several customer left and went elsewhere for a car rental.
2. I was charged a different price than quoted online. I tried to explained but wasn't getting anywhere.
3 I have rented from Payless many times and normally their service is good.

Cons: After 6 hours of flying time to get to Florida, we arrive at Payless to pick our reserved vehicle only to find out they ran out of cars. Isn't that why you reserve a vehicle so it will be available? They accommodated us by driving us over to RENTMax that was more than happy to rent us a vehicle for $20 less. Hats off to RENTMax.

Cons: The location was closing at 1 AM, my flight landed at 12.30, so I called them up as soon as I came outside to realize that there are no shuttles. No one picked the call even at 12.45, I would have been able to take a Taxi or something.
This is the most horrible service any Car Rental Agency could provide at any point.
As a word of advise, if your store closes very to client's arrival, make sure that the customer is notified about the store close time. If you have accepted the reservation, please have someone in the tore to pick the call at atleast.
This incident almost ruined my vacation. I had pay for another Car Rental Service for booking another car.

Pros: The price.
Cons: We had an early returning flight. The agent wouldn't commit to whether or not their shuttle would be available. Right away I was made to feel uncertain about whether or not I could count on the company for anything.
Pros: The check out process was quick. There was no one in line when I arrived. The vehicle that I originally requested was not available. I already expected this, so I was not surprised to get a mini-van instead of a Pathfinder. The price was the same and the vehicle met our needs just fine. Overall a very good experience considering the price and customer service.

Cons: First of all, I stand in line to pick up my rental only to be told that they need to see proof of insurance to pick up my vehicle. They told me that only residents of the state of Florida need proof of insurance. I'm currently stationed in Germany and didn't have proof of insurance on me and this is the first time I have ever needed proof of insurance and I have rented with many companies before. I ended up having to call another department within my insurance company to get proof of insurance because it was 10 pm and they were closed. After I got proof of insurance I was told I still needed to pay for the insurance through the rental company because my insurance wasn't enough and that they wouldn't release the rental to me unless I paid for their insurance. I had to pay $24.99 extra a day for 10 days ($249.90) in order to get my rental car. Then a few days after getting my rental car I was pulled over because the paper license plate they had on the car had flown off. I had to take the rental car all the way back to advantage in Tampa in order to get this issue fixed which took me away from my family.

Cons: You get what you pay for with Advantage rental car. The shuttle from the airport was slow and the customer service reps were robotic. They make you feel guilty if you don't get their insurance and try every sales pitch to get you to add it to your rental, as well as include the toll fees in your rental. They tried to get me into a larger car, "only $7/day extra" which would have cost an additional $70 at least. The car I got was dirty, dented, scratched and had almost 30,000 miles on it. It took me longer to complete the the damage paperwork than it did to get to my final destination. I won't rent from them again. In the future, I'll go with the larger, well known car rental companies. Like I said, you get what you pay for.

Pros: The agent Howard was very kind and seemed truly sympathetic for not having a car for us reserved . It appears Thrifty guaranteed the Internet price . But they don't gaurentee that they will have a car for you . How nice is that to arrive after a long day , at airport and they have sold out of all cars . And none were to be found anywhere in area .
Cons: It appears that they claim 30 % of customers don't show up for rentals , so they never save cars for people with reservations . And if everyone shows up along with the walk ups , you could be left scrambling to try and find a car elsewhere . We booked a week in advance and the guy in front of us got last car and he just got there .
Even with a call a few days before to reaffirm we had a late flight and they said no problem .
This is probably standard practice with all company's so just offering some rental car education .

Cons: Smelled like weed and completely filthy. I could barely see thru the windshield because it looked like they started to spray the car to be cleaned and just decided not to. Pros: It was pretty painless process. Cheap too! I opted for no insurance and they kind of hounded me about it. They never brought up the sunpass policy which I'd okay because I didn't use it. The rentals aren't brand new cars. There a some older vehicles with dents and bruises. Make sure you have them inspect the entire car before you take it. Customer service in person was just okay. But when I tried to call them, no one answered and I was on hold indefinitely. I just hung up. But, overall, if you want a car for just a few days and don't need to travel far, this is a good company to use.

Cons: Had to wait about 15 minutes for a shuttle at the airport and then had to wait 40 minutes in line before we could speak to a representative. When we returned the car, the computer system was down and they couldn't give us a receipt. They emailed us one later that day.

Cons: The gears were not working properly. Several times it would go into a higher gear and had to pull over and stop and put it in park and then move it to drive again and this worked. The rent-a-car location changed without notifying anyone that it was changing locations, the staff at drop off "Advantage Car" was not friendly, effective or quick. They quickly dismissed everyone's concern for the changing locations and lack of communication. It has been over 10 days and I have yet to receive the $100.00 deposit I was guaranteed by the staff would be there within three business days. I strongly recommend not renting from "Advantage Car" in Tampa Florida.

Pros: The rental was a very good value, car was clean and delivered quickly despite only one counter attendant. Despite being understaffed, the attendant was friendly and conversational, and patient with the multiple customers they were dealing with at the time.
Cons: Shuttle times to and from the Tampa airport were somewhat long. We didn't wait an hour as I've seen some reviews, but it's still more than most offsite car rentals. Saw several shuttles for other places come through multiple times before one ace rental did. Likely due to the understaffing mentioned before.

Hidden fees and false information.
Cons: At pick up I had talk to man stating I only go through 1 toll during my trip of 7 days.. They stated that I didn't need to pay the 6$ a day pass since it would be a waste of money..and that I would just be able to pay the 1.50 charge at the toll...toll was a non stop toll which did not allow me to stop!! At drop off I mention to him toll did not allow me to stop ! He was just like oh well that's a 59$ charge than!??so now I have a 56.00 charge which bounced my debit card!! I also did not sign the drop off contract saying I would pay that charge and they charge my card same day even after I told them not to snd to send me a bill!! 4 other people there also got suckered into this hidden fee! The man stated that maybe I should have taken s different route! I'm from out of state and GPS only gave me the one route to my hotel! No compassion and they must make a lot of money off of people.. I will never rent from ace again and will share this on social media if my money is not returned!!

Drop off craziness
Cons: My drop off location was at an unmarked office downtown Tampa by the convention center. I drove around in crazy traffic for half an hour looking for the drop off location. I eventually learned I had to go to the valet parking area of the Embassy Suites building. The city doesn't allow any signs or markings. THERE REALLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NOTE SOMEWHERE IN THE PAPERWORK.
Cons: When I made my reservation I specified the Tampa airport as my location. I received a rental quote of $143.00 including taxes ($24/day plus $23.38 total taxes). When I got to the Enterprise desk I was informed my reservation was for an off site location that was soon closing. While they said they would honor the daily rate I was quoted, I would have to pay more due to airport fees. Needless to say I was incredulous to learn those "airport fees" brought my total rental to r $281.24 - MORE THAN DOUBLE MY ORIGINAL QUOTE! .
In reviewing my invoice I was charged a daily rate of $39.58/day and was charged $83.34 in taxes and fees.
I was in town for a family emergency and not in a position to debate the situation - I needed to get to the hospital and did not have time to go to the other facility.
I feel I was cheated and taken advantage of by Kayak and Enterprise. If there is any interest in making this right, you and/or Enterprise will honor the daily rate I was quoted and credit back some of the fees that don't appear to have anything to do with the airport location (concession recovery fee, Florida surcharge, vehicle license fee, tire/battery fee) as well as an adjustment of the sales tax I was charged.

Pros: Great ride, we were upgraded to a RAM 1500 quad cab..
Cons: They never seem to have what you request, they do upgrade...

No easy pathway to terminal
Pros: The workers are nice. No hassle with paperwork at drop off.
Cons: I didn't like that when I drop off the car there was no clear main wide enough and safe walkway to get to the terminal. It's like weaving your way through a maze. You go down one way and then you find that the path way is not wide enough to maneuver through so you have to back up and find another path. I find this frustrating and unsafe. The Dropoff area in that garage also needs to have the ground washed. It is pretty gross. It's just so dirty to roll your bags through. But all the workers are nice.

Pros: Parker at the Sun City Center location is an angle!! Had a 2016 Elantra and it was perfect!
Cons: That I couldn't get the car I reserved at the airport because my father was paying and I was the driver; names on license need to match credit card and that meant we didn't have a car for the first day of our trip. It's a stupid policy and I was very unimpressed!!

Downgraded two car classes at Tampa, FL Internatio
Cons: Booked a full sized car and was given not a Standard car but an Intermediate car, two rental classes lower by Enterprises own classifications. We had just flown in and I was not familiar enough with car models to complain until the next day when I realized I'd been "switched".This was at Tampa Airport, not a small obscure location. Later when I attempted to change cars at Ft Lauderdale Airport I was told they did not have a car.
