I had to pay so much extra because apparently the insurance I had didn’t cover Expedia/economy car rental despite said insurance covering every other car rental agency. So either I was lied to or it’s just economy and I’m never going to rent from them/expedia again. I was also given a number to call travel guard which is not able to cover after the rental purchase was made. The car was also full of dog hair. In total this rental cost me 200$ instead of the 40 +30 I paid for the rental and insurance initially. Huge rip off. Took forever and is so inconvenient to get to without a car! Insane. Never again.

Took a long time to get the car. First of all, there shuttle only comes to remote rental car center near LAX. You need to take a bus to get there. Then you take there shuttle to get to their office. It took me almost an hour to get the get and be on my way. There were two agents working the desk and they were really helpful but, the whole process was slow. I had to wait a long time.

I had to pay an extra $40+ for insurance despite informing them saying that the insurance is covered through my Amex Cobalt. I had no other alternative as I was in a rush.

After my experience with this company I understand why they have a low score, initially I let myself be carried away because they offered me a very low price, but when I pick up the car the cost was going to be higher than the other companies with better score, so I decided to go and rent with another company, I do not recommend ECONOMY RENT A CAR for anything, very bad service and unethical

Total rip off like priceline who mentioned Unlimited kms on the invoice and then refused to refund me. They started showing me terms and policies when the Invoice clearly shows Unlimited kms. Spolied my trip. Lost my money and had to book another place. Waste of time. Terrible experience.

It was really hard to find the shuttle driver and when we did it took us to a sketchy feeling part of town took us into a warehouse and had us talk with a representative with a very heavy accent over a computer screen. We were not told where to bring the car back - turns out we had to find the sketchy warehouse back and they could not take us back to our hotel even though it was closer than the airport.

There was a minor scratch at the bottom of the front bumper which is not visible unless you are on your knees. As far as I am concerned we didn’t do anything to cause it. It may be already there and we didn’t notice when we took the care at midnight. At any rate my gripe is with how they handled this situation. We bought most expensive coverage possible with them which is twice the rental price itself. But during checkout they stalled us because of this issue even though we told them that we are cutting too close to our departure time and requested them to call the insurance and get it reimbursed because we already bought the coverage. But they insisted on us calling them and we couldn’t because we didn’t have local mobile plan. After lot of back and forth they checked other contracts on the vehicle and probably figured out that the damage was already there and the let us off the hook. It was a happy ending but the whole drama could have been avoided if they had customer service at the forefront of their minds.

I actually cancelled my reservation after finding out that their hours of operation start at 8:00AM. That doesn’t work for returning a car when you have a 6:30 AM flight. Would have been fine if they operated 24 hours.

Great price and quality car. The pickup was a little confusing, as the supplied instructions were to call Apex to arrange transfer to pickup point, but no-one answered the phone, and the system was not working. We just saw the Apex transfer bus at the airport pull up and hopped on randomly. With the Apex depot off site, the car drop-off had to be done before 5pm, which was inconvenient for us, as we had a late night flight. It would have been good to have an extra cost option to be able to leave the car/keys somewhere else for after hours drop-off, but unfortunately this was not an option. But the hire car was good quality, well priced and the staff were great once we found how to get to the depot.

They were dreadful. We didn't want a shuttle connection from the airport, but the Kayak info said they were AT Wellington Airport. They were actually in a very small place two and a half kilometres away. They were open only certain hours and when I finally got to speak to a person they denied anyone else had complained and , refused a refund, and blamed the misinformation on the third-party, QEEQ. I would have to approach them for a refund.

I called to find out where the office was and was told it was at the airport terminal. In fact it wasn’t there and we had trouble finding address on the instructions. When we finally got there, there was nothing there – no office, no sign. We kept calling the phone number and it took nearly 2 hours to get our car. The car was filthy. Qverall the whole experience was terrible and I will never use Yesaway again!

As a 1st time user with Ace left me disappointed 😞 from time of making the booking through to picking up vehicle which had the window screen replaced the day of pickup with tape on the window to be told "keep it there for an hour then you can pull it off" most disconcerting to having to drive away and lucky no rain to have to use the windscreen wipers!!! Also asked for some compensation but didn't get any

Super friendly, helpful and efficient staff. No unnecessary hassle. The main drawback is that the office is a few kilometers away from the airport, but they make up for that by a operating a free high-frequency shuttle between terminal 3 and the office.

The vehicle had mechanical issues. We could not drive the car and they are refusing a refund. They had to pick up the vehicle because we could not drive it. We are currently trying to get a refund with great difficulty and they are trying not to provide it.

Rude customer service. Took over an hour for 3 people to pick up their vehicles, all of whom had issues with what was booked online vs what was available at pick up. The conformation email confirmed which credit cards were accepted but when i tried to pay, they rejected my credit card and just said no, not that one - even though it’s listed as accepted in the email. There are no facilities on site. No bathrooms, water or even a seat inside. There is a bench outside you could sit on. You are in a shipping container in the middle of a gravel pit. Our car was dirty. Greasy fingers all over the window screen and so dusty inside. It clearly hadn’t had a clean for a long time. Car was VERY basic. You might save $100 but it’s not worth the time, effort or delays created by staff would make it clear they would rather be anywhere else. Only positive would be that the car was a hybrid so driving all over for a long weekend only cost us $20 in petrol.

The online disclosure were not clare. I booked one way trip from Auckland to Christchurch for total 7 days. The disclosure shows I can take the rental car from north island to south island by ferry. However, I was told I can not take the car on ferry when I got to counter picking up the car...

The car was old with no modern features.. it shook at speeds great than 60km and was covered with scratches. You should not be hiring our vehicles in such poor states.. the price was exhibit at for a car of such poor quality. The pick up process was long winded and should have been explained up front instead of being in small print and the bottom of the email reservation. One would Assume that the pickup was from the Queenstown airport itself, not requiring a phone call and a shuttle to a venue 10 minutes from the airport

The rental counter is a bit far from the airport, so be prepared to spend a bit more time on pickup then with other companies. Otherwise, good experience.

My flights were delayed so they gave my booked car away. They had no other car options either. Even though I entered all my contact information in while booking the car they said they had received no contact information through kayak. Very disappointing experience.

Got a fantastic deal. Staff accommodated our time changes and I think they upgraded our vehicle as well. We loved our car (Suzuki Sprint) and had a great holiday as a result. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I didn' get the car I requested and paid for, Toyota Aqua Hybrid but the smaller Toyota Yaris Hybrid,which was not suitable for touring for the two week hire. Lacked comfort and road holding, I couldn't maintain road speed often letting others pass, breaking on steep decent was poor and with low gear engaged engine was hemoraging at 30kph.(vehicle only has drive and low) On a previous rental,in Cairns, a similar thing happened when I was given a smaller inferior vehicle. Not likely to return.

Avoid at all costs. Gave us a car with windshields wipers that were broken. We contacted branch manager Rachel and was promised a phone call twice. Rachel received the message but decided customer safety was not her concern and did not return my call or email for the past 3 business days and counting. You would think that a car that is not road-safe during rainy season would be a priority to her but it is not. We also waited an hour for our car rental. Pickup was for noon and we didn't leave until past 1. I was the first from my group to arrive and yet one of the last to get my car. They told me it would be a 10 minute wait but it was much longer than that. Car provided was in poor condition and unsafe to drive. Their response to poor reviews is always the same. They ask you to email them but then don't actually resolve the issue.

We booked a one way rental. While there was a budget rental office at the Auckland airport only the downtown office did one way rentals. When we booked we were told there was a shuttle from the airport. This was definitely not true and we had to pay $180nzd and take a 30 minute drive to get to the budget rental office. That was a very unpleasant surprise after flying around the world with three young kids! I will avoid budget in the future because of that.

The price given to me online was not the price I was charged for and when I called the 800 number, the customer service office was closed. I feel I was charged more money because I was in a rush to catch my flight- Poor business practice by Budget. When I picked up the car, the service representatives had me sign that the car was not damaged before even receiving the keys. I asked if there was damage, could I come back and fill out the form to reflect that, and they said "yes"... but the second I received my keys they shut the gates and left for the day. I asked why the price on the document they gave me was different than what I received online and they told me I'd only be charged the additional amount if I returned the car with less than a full tank of gas. The car was returned full and I was still charged more money than quoted online.

When other rental car companies quoted me it was an all inclusive cost, it wasn't clearly noted that the car was a manual and the price didn't include insurance. So when I actually picked up the car they gouged me on both of those and the quotes price was more than doubled. I had somewhere to be and didn't have much of a choice. Feel like they knew that and really took advantage with the price.

Scotty at Auckland airport was great, helpful friendly etc but after that all downhill. I’ve emailed thrifty 3 times about issues with the car and still have had no reply. I called their customer service and the issue was not resolved. The car has been returned but the office was closed at 4 pm on a week day so I could only drop the keys off and still have not been able to speak to anyone. Poor customer service.

Cons:

At the drop-off we had to give the keys to a guy in the car park with a little thrifty sticker on his shirt. We did not get any confirmation that we gave the car back nor that is was still in perfect conditions. It felt a bit weird afterward that we had nothing in your hands to proof that we brought the car back without any damage.

We were charged an extra credit card surchage of of 11 NZ$. I had a quote for this car and all fees, that should have applied. It is mandatory to pay with credit card, so there should not be an extra fee after all.

Bluetooth wasn’t working in car, had to drop off off car early but no place to drop keys off. Called when we arrived back home to let them know where keys were they said thank you, then got a call on a Sunday from a man yelling saying if we didn’t return the car we would be charged another day?!! Had to call him back letting him know what happened, got another call from him yelling again.. the experience was awful

Good Value . These are not brand new cars and have cosmetic flaws. But, as such, they provide excellent value. We rented a Prius which saved us a great deal on gas, but had scratches and a dent in the back bumper which didn't matter at all to us.

Sixt refused to honor my rental. After waiting for some time for a shuttle I called to confirm they would be coming to pickup. They stated it had recently left and would pick me up in 15 minutes. 4-10 minutes later they called me back to say my rental was no longer available and I was out of luck.

Pros:

While rental been made with Sixt, car was provided by East Coast Car Rental. Pick up at airport by their shuttle has been fast & convenient, but you need to call for it upon arrival. Beware to their somewhat reduced business hours to make sure it suits your needs and flight schedule. Wait was minimal at counter since we were the only customers then. Car was clean & in perfect mechanical condition. Rates were much lower than with Avis or similar, so it was a good deal considering price/quality.

Cons:

From information gathered on Sixt website, we were expecting newer car as they mention theirs to be like 3-6 months old on average. Ours was more like 3-4 years old and 98K. Nevertheless its been in perfect mechanical condition, so despite that point, I don't hesitate to recommend.

My online car rental reservation process was smooth and hassle-free. However, upon arrival at the airport and visiting the Europa booth, we were met with a concerning issue. No staff members were present to assist us, even though we arrived just before their official closing time of 10:30 pm. We patiently waited for their arrival, but when someone finally showed up, there was no acknowledgment of our wait, and no sign of apologetic behavior. To our astonishment, we were informed that we had to pay an additional 35 Euros due to our supposed late arrival. This experience left us deeply dissatisfied with the overall customer service provided by the company. Regrettably, we cannot recommend using their services in the future.

I booked through Rentalcars.com for pickup at Bargain Car Rental in Hobart and drop off in Devonport. When I arrived at the Bargain Car Rental counter I was told the company no longer operates in Devonport, and so they would not rent me a car and I would have to contact RentalCars.com for a refund. The issue was, this was only a few days before Christmas and other companies were out of cars. I finally secured a little economy car for four times the price of the SUV I had booked through RentalCars.com. Bargain Car Rental refused to assist and I’m still pursuing reimbursement for the additional cost from RentalCars.com. Grrrr.
