Cons: It was not obvious where to return the car when I pulled in and there was no one directing returns so I parked it in the wrong place for check out. I was charged for an extra hour on the return although the times out and return were less than an hour apart. At least 10 minutes or more of this was due to not returning to the correct place in the lot. This resulted in an additional charge of $17 which is unreasonable.

Cons: I was "upgraded" to a model that was at least 7 years old (no bluetooth, worn interior) etc.
The pick up process -- which should have been VERY simple seeing as I booked well in advance -- took just under an hour.
In general the staff at Hertz La Guardia seem very slow, confused, and generally unprofessional.
Pros: nice people, return in manhatten was open till 11pm (perfect for my need), nice car
Cons: they will make you take their insurance.
I told them about the aliance insurance that I booked via Kayak, but they told me that it won't cover the cost for days that they could not rent the car in case of an accident

Cons: It took over an hour to actually get the rental car from JFK. The staff were incredibly slow and very poorly trained (had to ask each other how to select a particular car type, see which cars are available, etc.). It was as if someone just took them of the street and put them behind the counter. Even with over 2 dozen people waiting in line and loudly email@example.com and skiing to speak with the manager, she casually walked around and did nothing. She did not assist her staff nor address the customers.

Pros: Car was as described.
Cons: The wait time upon arrival/pick-up was deplorable. Two individuals working with only one individual actually attempting to process client's rentals while the other looked on. Total time from arrival at counter to receiving car was approximately 40min.
Upon return, the electronic check-in device for the outside staff was not working correctly. I was told to proceed to the check-out counter with my contract in hand. When I arrived, the agent had a long line of customers picking up so they couldn't assist me promptly. I again had to wait in line just to return the car.

Pros: The car drove nicely, and was reasonably clean....
Cons: The associate told me to go the wrong numbered spot, so I had to return the desk. Then the car had only 3/4ths the gas though I was marked for a full tank, so I had to return to the desk. When I returned it, I was charged for "being late by an hour" (something I've never thought about when returning before a flight).
Being hidden in the Hertz station made it hard to find.
Pretty poor customer experience, and will be going out of my way not to use Thrifty again in the future.

Pros: Pick up and drop off was one of the easiest things at the airport, we got decent gas mileage too! The seats were pretty comfortable.
Cons: The "cruise control" on the car wasn't normal, the button even said "coast" so it was constantly changing speeds. What's the point of cruise control if it doesn't actually work how it's supposed to . And the pickup on that Nissan sonata is terrible.

Had to wait 45 minutes for a car with 10 others because "the cars were in the wash". Staff berates us for not taking EZPass or their coverage even though we explained we have coverage through the booking on Kayak.

Cons: I waited two hours for my car. It was ridiculous and really screwed up the rest of my trip. And I was told that the insurance I bought through Kayak wasn't accepted. So I had to buy theirs. I also heard other customers being denied all sorts of insurance types. And the location is incorrect on google maps so I had a nice walk around the outskirts of the Airport for an hour as well. It's near the Hertz rental.

Pros: Car was fine. Ran as expected.
Cons: Agent was incredibly rude and confrontational from the moment I got to the desk. We had to wait for an hour for our car after we were checked in. There were at least five other groups waiting as well, who had similar wait times. The desk agent and the other employees were inefficient and the desk agent was literally yelling at all the other employees. It was very uncomfortable for everyone there.
Cons: I made a deposit on Kayak with my visa debit card, and was not informed that I wouldn't be able to use the same debit card to hire the car. Wasn't allowed to hire the car, lost my $50 deposit and missed the wedding I came to go to. Devestated. Very unlikely to use Kayak again.

Pros: Well, if you can find the place, it isn't terrible.
No one was there when I dropped off the car @ 6 am, and there was no drop box so I had to leave the keys in the car.
The car itself was fine and the rental was a really good price, so keep that in mind. But it was a hassle returning the car as the Google maps address was in the airport service road complex, and I had to figure out the public address by asking.

Pros: I found the staff to be untrained and the policies of Payless somewhat antiquated. I originally indicated I would bring my vehicle back 1 1/2 days into my rental. When I decided to keep the vehicle the full 2 days Payless wanted to charge me a change fee and bill me for another day - even though it would have still been within the original 2 days I paid for. In addition, they charged me for an EZPass and I spent 2 days driving through tolls until a cop stopped me and told me I did not have an EZPass. Lastly, when I wanted to add a second driver noone seemed to know how to add to my policy. Very disappointing experience and I will likely not use them again.

Cons: Waited about a hour in the lobby (with one seat for customers) to take delivery of a reserved car. Car was delivered with only 3/4 tank of fuel, but not indicated as such on invoice. Weather was too cold and lobby too full to go back in to correct invoice. I returned car with full tank though, to avoid any addional charges. Will not recommended nor use Payless in the future.

Cons: They don't make this clear when reserving a car. Caused a huge hassle for me. Woman at the counter (NYC) was very dismissive and unhelpful.
Cons: 1- The confirmation was for unlimited mileage while the fact was ONLY for 150 miles/ day, the manager made it 1500/ 6 days for me.
2- They have refused at the beginning to give me the car without a US phone number while the phone number in the confirmation was for an international (Egyptian) phone line and it was working with me in the US but they refused and told me to go and buy a US phone line, so I've walked a lot searching for an American mobile phone line to buy but I couldn't find any as it was 8 am and no phone markets open before 10am, so I went back to Enterpise around 9:15am and the manager accepted to give me the car and asked me to buy a US phone line and give them the number on the same day BUT I TOLD HIM THAT IF I COULDN'T BUY IT TODAY I'll BUY IT TOMORROW MAXIMUM AND GIVE THE NUMBER AND HE AGREED, I've called the manager (Bryan Leo) on the next day early morning many times till he replied to tell him that it's in mind to get the phone line asap and I bought it and called him many times again till he replied and gave it to him, then I was surprised when I've known that they have charged me once more on the previous day (the same day I've taken the car and the deal with that manager that I'll call him on the same day or on the next day and he agreed), I've tried again many many times to call that manager and understand from him why did he do that, he replied because I didn't furnish an American phone number on the same day and when I told reminded him that we have agreed to get the phone line on the same day OR ON THE NEXT DAY, he started to snake and play with words.
The real problem that they were supposed to charge me about $120, but they said they will charge me $307 (120 rental and the rest security) and I agreed, but because of what the manager did, they have charged me $614, they have refunded $494 when I returned the car back but the problem is that my credit card is in EGP and they have charged me in U$D so I had to pay 6% more in each transaction, which means that I have lost not less that $50 when that manager played with my credit card.
However, when I asked him while I was returning the car back "why did he do so and didn't respect what we have agreed on", he replayed that it was above him and that was not his decision.
This is the story and I hope you will do something.

Jay (manager) Enterprise 80th & 2nd is incredible!
Pros: I arrived late (and desperate) an hour after the garage had closed, and Jay opened it back up and got me my car. He gave me a free upgrade and was super friendly. Best service I've ever had from a car rental garage. He chatted with me amicably about my trip and was genuinely interested in what I was saying. When I got back, he remembered me and asked how my trip to Boston was. The car was great as well, clean and no issues. Thanks Jay!! Nicole at the desk was a pleasure too!

Cons: The kayak website didn't mention that the enterprise offices close at 1pm on Saturdays. We arrived a little late for our pickup at 1.10pm and we're told sorry, we're closed. Because it was the Saturday of president's day weekend there were no rental agencies in the entire city with any cars available, so we had to stay in the city and forego our AirBnB reservation. The entire staff was there at the enterprise office, the computers were on and working and the staff spoke to us with complete disdain and condescension. People LAUGHED at us when we arrived, and then the guy at the computer raised his voice at me when he explained they were closed. Who in their right mind would expect a business in Manhattan to close at 1pm on a Saturday? How is it reasonable to expect us to have even checked? Who did this guy think he was? And considering it was an honest mistake, and we're talking about being a few minutes past closing time, I'm just amazed they didn't do it's a solid and let us leave with the car that would have been ready for us. Or, I don't know, show some compassion for the fact that they were forced (?) to cancel our holiday weekend? We had a booking after all, so they can't have been surprised we showed up. Oh and as we stood there calling other rental agencies in vain, another couple arrived with an Enterprise rep from another office and they were promptly GIVEN A CAR. Apparently there had been a mix up at another office and they were owed a car. Fine. But it was one of the most humiliating, frustrating experiences of my life and I'll never forget how Enterprise laughed in our faces and told us nope, sorry, you're staying home this weekend, idiot.

Pros: Highly suggest. A quick walk from Airtran at JFK, cutting time with shuttle. The car was ready and freshly washed. A video of surface scratches was made on the spot and emailed. The personnel were all very helpful and personable, with good advice on direction. And what a deal. Came through in a pinch, too, at the last minute. Even the other customers there were in a good mood.
Cons: At first it seemed difficult to find but with GPS I got there easily.

Cons: The customer service at the rental office was horrible. The man was arguing with me about whether or not my insurance covered me in their car. I ended up paying for the insurance but later found that I am actually covered by my insurance in any car I enter...as I was trying to tell him, but he was arguing with me and I just wanted to leave ASAP and hit the road. Complete attitude problem. His assistant was much nicer and informative. The car was a hyundai automatic with no automatic windows or locks. It was very worrisome whether or not I would leave the car open. The car given was very poor quality. The mile restrictions area little unreasonable as well.

Worst smell ever
Cons: My car was doused in air refreshner, and day 2, the smell of mold took over. It was very nauseating. Plus the car sounded like it has never had an oil change. At only 40,000 miles it was making crazy noises at stop lights and driving really jerky. The worst car rental I have ever had.
Pros: The vehicle was perfect for our vacation. The service was outstanding. Would certainly use then again.

Cons: I received 2 email confirmations and I made 2 phone calls to Avis confirming my pick up in NYC, and my drop off in Port jervis. When I arrived at my drop off location, there was a hand written note on the door saying they were closed for the entire weekend and wouldn't be back until Monday. There was no drop off box or instructions on how to drop off this car. Why did Avis confirm my drop off at Port jervis if the location was closed? You need a better handle on drop off locations that just decide to close without notice and screw people over like me.

Cons: I specifically asked for unlimited miles when signing up for this car. However, when I got there they told me that I didn't have unlimited miles and that there would be an extra charge per mile. Then the representative from ACE called her manager to see if she could extend a few more miles per day. It wouldn't have been worth it and I ended up cancelling my reservation because they were clearly trying to upsell during a holiday. Not too mention the office did not open on time, 30 minutes late, and the representative carried her cigarette smell on her inside the office. An overall unprofessional experience. I made another reservation at another service that was half the price.

Cons: I booked a car with unlimited miles, but when I got to the office, they told me I only had 200 miles per day, so if I drive more than 200 miles, I need to pay .25 cents an extra mile. Also, the cars do not have an E-Z pass, and they tried to sell me a very expensive insurance, they scared me that I have to pay $ 2,500 for the deposit if something is going to happen to the car, so I declined the reservation.

Pros: The car was generally fine.
Cons: The windshield wipers didn't work.
The rental agency hit me with a $500 deposit and tons of extra hidden fees including an extra 0.25 cents per mile over 200 miles.
There was no option for prefilled gas, and the tank was half full when I picked it up.

Cons: They were not open. We had a car rental for 6:30 and when we arrived at the airport they were closed. We had to find another car rental company and obviously paid more because we were walk up customers.

Pros: Customer service at pick-up and drop-off was friendly and efficient.
Cons: The compact car was comfortable, but the engine was pretty noisy, as were the windshield wipers when in use. But Ace offered a great deal on the car, so these small problems were worth putting up with.
Cons: The individuals never specified what was needed to rent the car and also had a nasty attitude when asked about renting the car itself. They are horrible at customer service and if kayak is Offering service as such I will never be using this service again.

Pros: great customer service at LaGuardia for pickup and drop off. cheerful and courteous staff and driver of shuttle.
Cons: EZ pass suction cup kept detaching and pass fell off while driving.

Pros: On time bus service to offsite rental office.
Cons: Ever hear of a Juke? Neither had I. Asked for midSize car and this what I got. Could barely fit in this thing. Other midsize aren't nearly as small.
