Location is ok. About 10 min from airport, and short walk to bus station to go into town. Thin walls and very noisy all night. No air conditioning, was sweating all night. No mini fridge.
I like simple modern decor, however this was a bit to basic, Th staff was courteous and check-in was fast. The hotel was only 10 minutes away by free shuttle bus from the airport, and we did not need to wait longer then 5-10 minutes each way for the shuttle. We paid over $200 for a triple room, however, what we received was a "converted" double room. They removed the narrow desk at the window and the bedside table, and instead squeezed in an extra bed. The double room was already very small and basic, but with this change it was really uncomfortable. The two single beds that were pushed together to make a "double" (with an uncomfortable crack in between) was only separated by about a 15 cm gap from the single bed, not allowing to fit two legs side by side, therefore you had to shuffle in sideways to get to the bed. The only electric outlets were above this third bed, so since there were no desks or tables, the overnight charging of the ipads and phones could only happen on the bed, making it very uncomfortable to sleep next to it. In addition, the bathroom light could only be turned on with the entrance light, therefore if someone wants to go out to the bathroom, has to disturb everyone in the room with the light. A dim nightlight in the bathroom would be a welcome change. In addition, the restaurant at the 4th floor had a poor decor and mediocre food, and at 60 Euros for two main courses and a desert and water I think it is really overpriced. My lamb was likely over its teenage years, and my boys did not care for the hamburger meat either, although they usually love it.

I had allergy problems in this hotel and I could hardly breathe. There was also a mouldy mell in the air, I assume that was my problem.

Very clean. Free shuttle bus to airport. But next time I will pay more to stay in airport. In this case the hotels closer to the airport were all more than 200 Euro, which for me for a transit stay doesn't make sense. Typical transit hotel with transit atmosphere. They even have a cheaper option next door for 49 Euro

The shuttle service from the airport was free and efficient. Staff were friendlly and responsive. Room was clean and comfortable without any excessive noise. There was a nice restaurant and bar. Only that our room originally didn't have a door to the bathroom, they did change us to a room with a door after we asked. At first we thought maybe this was normal in Amsterdam but it seemed a bit primitive to have no way of containing the various sights and smells. it was rather strange to be given this type of facility without any warning.
I asked to change my room and was immediately accommodated.The new room was quite nice. Clean bed and facilities. The first room I was assigned smelled strongly of smoke. I asked for a change. See above. The hotel's common areas are badly in need of upgrade. Too many stains on carpets etc. Also, in my room, the upholstery on the desk chair was torn. These are the reasons for not wanting to recommend the hotel to others. It was fine for the one night, but I would try somewhere else for any longer time.
I stayed at the Dorint hotel on the 21 of this month(may 2015) anf it has been by far the worst experience i have ever had! I have stayed there before and i had no complains overall, but this time, there was a person in the recception that treated me really badly with no reason, i was staring at him thinking how come this person works here? I wrote down his name(Victor Brokke) and i wanted to talk with the manager but i had no time because i had an early flight and i was kind of late, too diferent than the morning recepcionist that was so nice and professional, when she asked me how was my experience i told hee about the missunderstanding that happent that night and she said she would take care of it. Really, they lost a customer, i travel to the netherlands at least 3 time a year and i love staying in hotels close to Schiphol because of the facilities such as close to amsterdam and also shuttles to the airport. What they dont realized i think is there is over 50 hotels in that area, and the Dorint isnt going to be one that me, relatives or friends are going to stay in.
Very convient for getting to the airport, regular shuttle ran between the hotel and airport all day long. Room very modern, spacious and quite after staying in the old part of Amsterdam for a week. Nice restaurant, had a good dinner but breakfast was a 15E buffet, no other choice, expensive but good.
EUR 12,50 parking fee I didn't like the hotel at all. There are much better alternatives around Schiphol. The hotel is generally old and mainly used for stop-overs between long-haul flights and by airlines' crews. Nothing spectacular.
The hotel is an excellent value for the price. The room my wife and I had was clean and quiet. We thought the restaurant was overpriced but the location is within walking distance of a wonderful small town where the people were very friendly and an Italian restaurant and grocery store very close. The bus to the airport was on time but sometimes crowded. Overall we would stay there anytime we are at Amsterdam airport.
Hotel staff were very welcoming. Room was very clean, bed very comfortable. Large room, plenty of storage. Breakfast room was very nice with a good selection. Shuttle bus very prompt and driver very helpful with luggage. I was staying overnight at Schiphol between flights. Hotel is a little far from the airport, especially if you are arriving late in the evening. No ramp up to the door at reception. Had to carry heavy suitcase up several stairs.

Booked room for $75 after missing flight. Shuttle was provided at the airport. Was very clean and nice for the price. Staff was friendly except for shuttle driver. Had to wait till exactly 2 pm to check in they wouldn't check us in 10 minutes early.
Front desk staff very helpful. Extended my stay twice and never a problem to keep the same room. A short walk into the town adjacent. Rooms were in good shape. It was very convenient as I was taking some courses at Schipol. Shuttle service. The bus was packed when it finally arrived after I waited 52 minutes at the airport. There was a crowd awaiting to get on. I did manage to get on but not everyone who wanted to was able, This shuttle serves the Ibis budget, the Ibis and the Dorint hotels So you get 1 and 2 star shuttle service to a 4 star hotel. The bus did go directly to the Dorint, but I was the only one to get off there. A 4 star hotel needs to offer 4 star service throughout all its services.
Friendly and helpful recption staff. Prompt checking in time. There were no coffee or tea making facilities in the room. I requested for a quiet room but the room was near the road and noise from passing traffic disturbed my rest. The room was quite warm and opening a window meant more noise from outside, and no fan or air conditioning.
The Hotel is pretty and clean. The staff was kind with us; they even talk italian. Far from the center. Anyway there is a free shuttle to airport every 20 min and the airport is well connected with the center of Amsterdam.

This small friendly, clean hotel with a nice restaurant in a typical Dutch village close to airport serves me well every time I have a layover in Amsterdam. Shuttle goes to Dorint Hotel, a five minute walk from De Herbergh Bread selection for breakfast is poor - none of the hearty Dutch Roggebrot on the buffet. Stairs are steep but usually staff helps carrying up my bags. A bit pricey.
Great free shuttle bus service to and from the nearby Novotel (to the airport/train station). Clean and comfortable. The steep stair case. Old, small TV, no wireless as promised.
the receptionist greeted us as if she had been a friend waiting for us to arrive. that was nice. the resturant was right there. the shuttle dropped us off a block from the hotel and we had to ask how to get there.

Bed was very comfortable. Very avant-garde. Mood lights, TV, everything can be controlled by the in room iPad. Bar and areas downstairs provide all kinds of environments for different people and activities. Buffet was good and reasonable. Charging 3 euro to use a major credit card.

A good idea for an airport hotel. Almost like a hostel. Real service even though there is simplified check in and check out. Well thought out room and superior amenities on the main floor. I recommend this for an surprised overnight. No provision for luggage.
I love the iPad-centric room controls. Great selection of newly released movies. Comfortable bed with a great TV setup. Temperature controls don't work very well - the room gets very cold at night even though I set the temperature to 70 Fahrenheit. The toilet and shower design are fun and just fine for a single traveler. When traveling with a partner, there "tube" designs dont provide any privacy, especially for the toilet. Perhaps adding a fan or some ambient noise to drown out toilet noises could help keep the mood romantic, hahaha!

We spent a night here in transit between Brussels and Den Haag. Walking distance from Schiphol Plaza. Self check-in and check-out feature was very convenient. Room decor was modern. All room light/tv/blinds were controlled with an ipad. WiFi was great. TV had a good selection of channels (for us- we watched comedy central). We got to store our luggage for a few hours after checking out which was extremely convenient. Hotel manager was excellent. There was a leak with our shower, which actually made it unclear how the thing worked! So we wasted almost an hour in the morning. The hotel manager was EXTREMELY helpful... wish we'd asked him for assistance immediately!

Top Location, Friendly Staff Rooms, even booked early and got a cheap price, do not match at all a 5 star hotel. The room rate compensated a bit for it, but definitely disappointed by a hotel which has such a famous name.

We have stayed at this hotel twice now and it is in an excellent central location. The hotel reception is beautiful and the rooms are also in keeping with this. Our recent room was very clean, comfortable big bed and with all the amenities that you would expect. Prior to this we have stayed in one of the suites which are excellent but of course pricey. The general rooms are a good price - not the cheapest but you do get what you pay for. We didnt book the breakfast as this made the room price too expensive.
The location was the best thing. The rooms were small, inefficient handling of processes and nothing that made me feel it to be a "grand 5* hotel". They should take a lesson from Germans in Efficiency... or another grand hotel in their neighborhood.

Three adults, including myself, stayed here a day before and after a cruise. The hotel was a great price and offered three single beds and a very large bathroom. Being from the U.S. with limited public transportation where I live, I did not realize that the tram is different than the train. We thought we could take the tram to and from the airport and port, but you need to take a taxi, so that was a little disappointing. The tram is an excellent way to get downtown, though. You pay right on the tram, 7.50 Euros for 24 hours. The staff was extremely helpful in giving directions regarding navigating the city and helping answer a variety of questions. They even ordered taxi pick up for us. No cotton washcloths No alcohol on the premises Small refrigerator No ice? Limited dining in the area Must take a taxi to/from airport or port, the train is too far to walk with luggage The price the hotel quoted us for the taxi was incorrect. The taxi companies charged more.
The tram is right outside of the hotel. Very convenient for traveling to the train station. There was also a store that was close by as well.

The staff was friendly & helpful we had a tram stop 5 minutes from the hotel that takes you to central Amsterdam you can buy day passes right at the Hotel.The breakfast bar was good but it's not cheap the same goes for the dinner.We ate in small cafes while touring Amsterdam it's a lot cheaper that way. No washcloth in the bathrooms they don't use them in Amsterdam so bring your own.Parking was 15 euros per day unless you can find a spot outside.
Great staff, one not so friendly but hey! This is Amsterdam! The rest more than made up for her. Very clean. Very modern. Very COMFORTABLE. Transportation into city center was not bad at all with bus and tram station nearby and a main train station within a 12 minute walk. Pay for breakfast, pricey but worth it. Everything was great, I plan to return and recommend to all my friends and family.
Great rate (much less than hotels downtown) and included free breakfast, wifi and had friendly helpful people who all spoke English. We did not realize that we would have to take a tram to the downtown part of Amsterdam where everything was located. If arriving with suitcase from train station, go out the BACK door of Central station and then go down stairs below and look for Tram 12 to get to hotel (2 stops) If not, it's a 10 min walk but a bit tricky initially to find. To go to the Airport, we had to take Tram 12 to Central Station and then the Train 1 stop to the airport. To go to the area of Amsterdam where most of the museums were, we had to take Tram 12 (near hotel & comes frequently) and then change to Tram 6. Since we were there for only 2 days we'd rather just step outside of our hotel and be in walking distance without public transportation. The hotel is basically in suburbia. (About 15 min or so into the City though.) The only option for dinner is their $29 buffet. There is a restaurant 5 min away, Cafe Pistau though that is excellent).
I spent two nights at the NH Barbizon and I only have positive things to say. It was a group of 5 friends and we couldnt be happier with our stay. The hotel in itself is beautifully decorated. The location is excellent across from Amsterdam Central and all the trolleys, but the best part of the hotel was the staff. Daniel helped my friends and I not only with our luggage, but with advice on getting around the city, recommendations for restaurants, and sightseeing. Overall great experience, and upon my return to Amsterdam I will definitely stay here and hope to get assistance from Daniel!
Best Staff ever very friendly and welcoming
The location is great, opposite Centraal Railway station and you avoid the added cost and hassle of catching a cab to your hotel. Most tourist spots are within walking distance. Staff was great, they let us check in early and check out late which helped us a great deal. Some of the advertised facilities were not available during our stay but it did not really matter to us.
Other than the location, this place really was just so-so. Most Marriott Courtyards are cleaner, more comfortable, and have much better service. For the price, however, it wasn't a bad deal and proximity to both Amsterdam Centraal and many tourist attractions made up for the lack of aesthetic appeal and customer service. Breakfast was not included and would be an addition $30/person. At that price, it should include a packed bong and tickets to the Van Gogh museum. Rooms were terribly outdated and not in a quaint Dutch way, but in an oddly 80's post-apocalyptic manner that made me question why I wasn't staying at a hostel. Our shower didn't even have a door or a curtain. 5 stars!? Are you kidding me? Europe must max out on a 10 star scale.
The hotel staff were very friendly and responsive. We were upgraded to a nice room. The breakfast was fantastic, probably the best we had had in a long time. The location is perfect for any visitor and Amsterdam is one of the most picturesque cities in the world. Also to note, people in Amsterdam (including all the hotel staff) were extremely friendly and ready to help. Loved it!

Nothing The picture they show of the room is not even close to what I had to stay in. My room was old, smelled horrible, most of the lights did not work, and the shower head was broke. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hotel..

Great location, close to airport as well as only a short transit ride to downtown. Can't stress how helpful the complimentary ride to and from the airport was. Would definitely stay there again. No resturant in budget but regular ibis hotel right next door with everything you could need. No resturants nearby other than one in the next door hotel and a McDonald's across the street. Room was a tad small but definitely manageable.
Close to the airport and free shuttle to and from the airport. This hotel caters to families - there were numerous children running and screaming in the hallways at all hours. I was a single adult, and requested a quiet room because I had to get up at 4:00 am for a flight. They put me right next to the elevator, and on the other side was a room with 2 unsupervised children. It was a terrible night - and frankly the 'budget' price wasn't really very budget. Not worth the money, and I would not recommend it. Next time I want a night like this, I'll sleep on a bench IN the airport, for free.

We stayed here two days(not consecutive) and the hotel was very nice! The first night we stayed we had a great room, it must have just been re done. The bathroom was amazing with a huge tub and a separate shower with a rainfall shower head! The room was huge and very clean! It was decorated very nicely! The staff was very nice and helpful! There was a balcony which was a plus. They had a shuttle that took you to and from the airport which was very convienent because the hotel is definitely in the middle of no where! If your looking for a place to experience Amsterdam this would not be it! The hotel is basically in the middle of no where but they do have a shuttle that runs every 40 minutes that takes you to the airport where you can get on the train and be down to Amsterdam in about 20 min. The first time we stayed here we had a great room, it was beautiful! The second time we stayed there the room was much less then what we were expecting! There wasn't anything wrong with it but I guess we just got out in the older part of the hotel that time!

The food in the restaurant, the wonderful and welcoming open fire and the very high standard of interior design which was very stylish. We have stayed at this hotel over 20 times both on business and pleasure and love it. Despite this however the Manager was unable to offer any form of refund when we explained our Son and his friends would not be joining us for his 18th Birthday weekend as Birmingham Airport had been closed and all flights cancelled. a little understanding would have softened the blow as we were all devastated, especially as his Grandmother, to whom he was very close had died 4 weeks earlier and we were all really looking forward to a wonderful break.This lack of flexibility is my only critisism of what is otherwise an excellent hotel.
Breakfast-wonderful! Front desk staff attitude. Stayed there >5 times. Never had staff refer to my being a regular customer. I had just arrived from a long flight and had to wait in foyer for a room. Too much luggage to safely carry 'down' to storage area myself. Staff wouldn't hold even one piece behind the counter. I was a woman travelling alone so not at all considerate as I couldn't even visit the bathroom! Staff also eager to suggest only most expensive suites available when this was not strictly true, on a previous stay with no prior booking. Good reason to book before going! Other than one male front desk staff, most times front desk staff seemed high-handed and rather unfriendly. Shame because hotel is convenient and the food is great!
I was impressed by the level of service from the personnel. I had forgotten my BB in the hotel , so I called in five minutes they called me back to say that they had found it.

The Quad rooms are really huge and very comfortable. More than sufficient for our family of 2A and 3 C. The free bus shuttle between the hotel and airport is very convenient and runs on time. Reception staff were very helpful. They let me use their PC and allowed me to take a few pages printout. Rooms had no kettle. The walk from reception to the rooms using two separate lifts was a bit tiresome. No help from the hotel for this.
Free shuttle to the airport. The rug was stained and one of the upholstered chair was soiled. Also, no coffee pot or supplies in the room.
After encountering one of Europe's worst heat waves, this was a pleasant surprise. The a/c was ice cold; the rooms were perfect for my family (individual beds); breakfast was more than adequate; and the hotel's restaurant had excellent dishes. I sincerely enjoyed my three day stay. I will come again.

We liked the mirrors (especially the big one in front of the bed) and also the window between the room and the shower :). We also loved that we could sleep till late. The location is quite convenient, it's very easy to get from and to the airport (Lelylaan station), and also to the city centre (trams 1 and 17). In the shower there was a mild smell of sewer, from the drainage. Also, the toilet should have its own sink.

The room was really nice and comfortable. Very modern with good facilities in the room and hotel. The location was ok only a ten minute walk to the tram which takes you straight into the city of Amsterdam. Was nice to be close to the city but away from all the hustle and bustle. The staff were helpful and advised me and my partner on any information we needed regarding getting to different places we wanted to visit. The Skyy bar on the tenth floor was great. Gorgeous decor and the cocktails were fab!! Overall our trip was really good and would definatly stay there again and recommend to others. The only thing was having to pay to use the sauna in the spa although the swimming pool was free it was expensive to the sauna. Every spa hotel I have stayed in it was free so I wouldn't have expected to have to pay for this.

The room was an absolute fantastic room. Spacious, stylish, comfortable and clean. The staff wereaslo friendly and helpful. Extremely close to the centre although if you are not familiar with the area a sat nav would be an advantage

Our stay at the hotel was fantastic, probably one of the nicest hotels we have every stayed in. The price was very reasonable, and it was easy access to the centre of the city. The room was beautiful, and clean. We had a lovely stay, thank you. There was nothing that we didn't like during our stay at the hotel.
There's a complimentary airport shuttle and it's only €5 a person for hotel to airport. Located right next to the tram. Only €7,50 for unlimited 24 hours on the tram and it brings you to the center of town with the Anne frank house or dam square if you get off at the next stop. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Very clean and comfortable bed. The price was a little steep in the restaurant on the 17th floor since the food wasn't amazing but it was pretty good. I recommend the quesadillas if you like cheese bc that was my favorite. Other than that I highly recommend this hotel!

-close to a coffiehouse -close to metro and bus -rents bikes and scooters per day -nice comfy rooms -clean -nice showers -On the day we checked out a guy came early to see if we left and continued to do so every two hours or so. Once we left we had forgot a bag and went back up he was going through said bag, and freaked out once he saw us. We just took our stuff and left not wanting to make a big deal. We later found out he stole 30 euro from the bag. Not a large amount, but still be wary. This is true everywhere. Never trust your money alone anywhere.

Lovely comfortable room, nice decor, loved the dimming lamps. We had to queue to check in, and after our long journey to get there, we were tired and wanted to go up to our room as quick as possible.
Good colours, style of reception and breakfastroon was pleasant, fireplace at receiption were really nice. No fitness room at the hotel. Wholefloor carpet is not same style than other things. Corridors ugly.

The breakfast is great. Over priced - not value for money.
I am particularly greatfull to Louis (staff) who made my stay amazingly wonderfull the house keeping.. i recognize that we left the room a mess, but when we came back the only thing they did was the bed! they didn´t reload the mini bar, or clean the tables..

food, concierge, services, fantastic hotel we were charged for bar food that we did not like and sent back to the kitchen. The burger was rare (should not be rare if minced meat) and the chicken was underdone and no 'leeks julienne' was served with it, though advertised on the menu.

This is the third visit to the hotel. This is a very clean hotel and we have no complaints about service. The restaurant and bar prices are very high compared with other establishments we visited. The heating in the room was inadequate and we could not get it higher, the weather was very cold at the time of our visit.

The hotel overall was ok. The room was clean and had nice amenities. The staff was polite. I was a bit disappointed that we had a hard time getting a hold of room service on a couple of occasions. Also, we were awakened by loud noises made by the staff on the first morning after we arrived. We were exhausted from travel and could not go back to sleep because of the distractions.
We very much liked the hospitality in your hotel especially during breakfast the staff was helpful and gave us a comfortable feeling It was a pity that the shower was leaking into the bathroom and the water gathered round the toilet which made the floor very slippery.
The room was great, the staff was very nice, and I had a great experience overall. The restaurant is pricey. I ate dinner in town. Breakfast is reasonable, if you reserve it the night prior. Good food though.

The staff was helpful and friendly. Beds were comfortable, but small. No good coffee in the room. Housekeeper did not take a fast food garbage bag out. She left it exactly where I left it. No hotel shuttle, like you would expect with a 4 or 5 *
They made me sign a pre-authorization with the room rates + 50 euros per day for frigobar (so expensive). When I did my check out (I paid in cash) they couldn't cancel this pre-authorization with the machine (they sent a fax to the credit card office) and I am always very afraid of this kind of cancellation. I had to change my room 3 times (the door didn't close well, they gave me a double bed but I have asked for 2 sigle beds, etc). They didn't have someone to help with the luggage (when I arrived and left the hotel).
The building is an antique that seems to recently been rejuvenated. It's important to keep this in mind when coming here, because the place is not a modern hotel, and so some modern things may be missing. For example, the elevators could be quite awkward and I cannot imagine how the floors are handicap accessible. That said, the bathrooms were brand new and quite nice. And finally, they throw in a full, FREE mini-bar. It's a bit expensive, and going up and down stairs can be annoying with luggage.
Good comfortable rooms Hotel still being refurbished, so some things not yet finished in hotel and the room. i.e. no toilet door and shower leaked badly as door seal seemed to be missing. However, the room was comfortable and the bed was simply delightful.

The best things in the hotel are the free minibar, the location and the helpful concierge employee mr.Roel Smits. Overall my staying in the hotel did not meet my expectation (I expected more for what I paid).
Art Nouveau hotel;you need to like it to enjoy the hotel,which is beautifull than ; large rooms, well equiped (surprising free of charge minibar, including alcool),nice restaurant and buffet breakfast(a little bit expensive) ,beautifull spa with swimingpool.Close to the railwaystation,at the border of the old centrum. Reception not "5 stars" due to small office,waiting time if some other people arriving simulteanously , and to few personnel at the concierge office !
Beautiful hotel, great architecture, friendly staff, facilities in room (like nespresso machine, free minibar and great bed), right in the city centre, reasonable prices for food and drinks. Just a small thing: the hotel is a bit of a maze, takes a bit to figure out how to get from your room to the reception, but the staff told me that new signs will be there soon
everything it waas a very nice stay more light in the room. That's my only remark. Please do something about this because it's too dark in the room!!!

The Hotel Amrath is a jewel among luxury hotels--beautiful architecture inside and out; clean, spacious comfortable rooms; great accommodating staff; and centrally located so one can walk everywhere. Don't miss the gorgeous pool and spa.

Excellent location, which is why I would still recommmend it. Not particularly good value for money. There were rennovations taking place making the room a bit noisy duraing the day. 30 Euro pp breakfasts are too expensive and should have been included in the rate
The location is perfect, walking distance from the train. We also walked both days from the hotel through the neighborhoods to the museum district and back. The breakfast and cocktail receptions were an added benefit.

Paid extra for lounge Lounge didn't have food available all the time Lounge should open at 5 am We were with my handicap father and the hotel lobby is handicap accessible but it would be a real problem if he had to leave quickly.
nothing Had booking confirmation in-hand. Manager asked a ton of questions, asked me to email her the confirmation, wasted a half hour till she finally told me the reservation cannot be honored because their reservation system was already closed, meaning they overbooked and refused my reservation after I already showed up at the hotel. They wasted my time. They were rude. They tried to blame me even though all i did was book online. They provided no assistance in getting a different room in the city. Awful experience. BE CAREFULL ON BUSY NIGHTS, THEY OVERBOOK.
I liked the location and the style of the room. We wanted to make some tea as it was quite cold in Amsterdam but there was no tea pot. We asked the service and it appeared the tea pot would cost us additional 6 euros. I think tea pot should not cost anything in the hotel of such level.

Great central location. Nice, business-class hotel with good facilities and service. Ask for room facing courtyard, which is quieter than street side. Kayak price of $170/nt incl (very good) breakfast was great deal for this property.
