Pros: Rodrigo is very kind and helpful. He was always around and willing to help us with kayaking and traveling logistics.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Rodrigo is an amazing host. Very helpful with planning our trekking trips. Breakfast is not included but you can just go next door. The room was neat, shower was super and had hot water. We could wash our clothes in a sink behind the house and there was even a kitchen for visitors. I would definitely go again.
Cons: Got nothing to complain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Rodrigo is super friendly and welcoming, the beds were great, and the shower was nice and hot! Beautiful hostel that is well maintained and great for a peaceful stay.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: great location and really excellent customer service. Rodrigo was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. The location, at the edge of a small town, surprisingly offered 3 nearby restaurants, one just next door.
Cons: the shower in the room was dangerous. In about a cycle of 2 minutes it went from freezing cold to just right (that lasted about 10 seconds) then boiling water spurted out. Then everything stopped and the cycle repeated. I know it's good value for money but this was just crazy. I spoke to the manager who blamed it on the rain overnight. Not true as I stayed there twice in a week and it was the same both times. A shame really as everything else was excellent.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Set just off the main road in a beautiful location. next door to a very good restaurant with other choices quite near too. Plenty of parking and very accommodating host.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great rooms for the price. Comfy beds, good kitchen. Rafting was great fun.
Cons: Not a negative exactly, but if you request something specific in advance like bird watching or rafting, push Rodrigo to clarify exactly what he has arranged. The birding guide I requested turned out to be Rodrigo himself, and while he knows the local trails and some common species, he’s not a birding guide. Rafting did happen and was very fun indeed, but cost a lot more than in other places in Ecuador ($70 each for about two hours on the river + travel time). Pizza and beer at the end was a nice touch!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A short walk from the hostal I could see the bird 'Andean-cock-of-the-rock'...!! Woh !!
Cons: Everything ok !
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Right across from the bus station... so great location. Bed was comfy and wifi worked great.
Cons: Nothing.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Rodrigo is the best host ever, not only for the free moonshine :) great location, nice clean rooms with amazing shower.
Cons: Slightly pricy...

Pros: Best food ever. Healthy, fresh, homemade local dishes! Pablo was a great guide. The room was beautiful and rustic.
Cons: It is too cold in the rooms, a small heater would make it more cozy!

Pros: We enjoyed our stay in Cabanas San Isidro. The cabanas are cosy and are beautifully located in the surroundings. It is a very quiet environment and there are lots of birds to see. We saw huge numbers of all kinds of hummingbirds from very closeby!! It was a real delight! The meal was nice, as was the breakfast. The staff was very helpfull and friendly.
