Nice overall but I'm just a normal working stiff and it was not a luxury or romantic place just an average clean motel would stay again if price was 65-70 on weekend or 35-40 weekday. Hotdogs in cowtown, mustard and onions only, but with a smile pleeez . Love ya
Very friendly service and clean room. Convenient location. had trouble with the room key working so had to wake the manager very early in the morning after taking my dog out to take care of business. Very responsive staff. think the charge for a single dog is high - $25/night.
Very good location, clean small room. Very good WiFi, off street parking, nice location. Office has irregular hours. Older but maintained. Small office style fan/heater only source, but adequate if not state of the art. I'd stay again, but not if my wife were with. Not a romantic destination, basic basic inexpensive lodging.
There are li me 200+ rooms to stay in and each one has a different theme to them! The foods is great and the overall feel of this place is comfort! The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast was a little burnt but that is the first time eating breakfast there...I just hope it was a fluke!
Everywhere you look you find amazement at the decor Fun and entertaining. The staff are most accommodating! Great getaway!
Nothing worth mentioning. Almost non existence service, rude staffs other than the couple at the registration counter. The room has no curtains or shades, except stained glass window. The lights are so bright outside, making it impossible to sleep at night! The heater in the room is extremely loud. The place is so poorly insulated and drafty, that you don't have any choice but to turn it on in winter. This place is a over priced motel coated in pink.
Unique character , nice location, friendly staff.. Having Mount Madonna so close by to be able to hike or jog up in the morning was great. Also very nice pool area. Restaurant and café very good. All in all a good value. A little dated
Exceptional spa service by Melissa and an overall state of mind that is total relaxation. Absolutely loved it. Nothing to dislike
There was a bag of popcorn in the microwave and real glasses and coffee cups provided. The room was large and comfortably furnished and the view of the harbor and Morro Rock from my balcony was exquisite, especially at sunset. The room even had a fireplace! The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was nice. I would definitely stay here again. My stay was too short! I would have enjoyed at least one more night!
Great service, location, beds and showers!
My friends and I stayed at the Avenue Inn after driving through Big Sur. We arrived after 10 pm and were greeted by Saul, who showed us to our room and gave some excellent dinner recommendations for late at night. The room was in great condition (newly renovated) and very comfortable for 4 adults to sleep in. Saul helped us in the morning by providing additional towels and helped with checkout as well. Overall we were very happy! Nothing - 100% would stay here again.
Access to walking to all areas downtown. Easy access in parking. Quiet.
close to everything the breakfast
Smallish room, but it was quiet, clean and comfy.
Location was very good, the room was very clean. Can't say there was anything that I didn't like...
We ads outlet loved our time at the Inn. Our third time staying and definitely not our last!!!
The staff was really friendly and recommended amazing local spots to grab the best wine and seafood at. Also the location is amazing! You're right on the bay in front of rows of sailboats and the Morrow bay rock is in clear view. It is a little pricey (not sure if it was because of memorial weekend).
Great views, great hikes, great food, friendly staff. Unfortunately the wifi was virtually unusable. I got five bars of signal strength but almost no bandwidth coming across that open pipe. I could barely send or receive an email through the 48 hours I was there, and Google Maps was unusable. Because my phone is on Sprint, which has zero coverage at the location, I was completely without internet for the weekend. Internet is no longer a luxury item - we now completely plan our travels with the internet. Sorry if it sounds whiny, but this was a huge pain in the neck.
Setting was absolutely beautiful. Nice balcony to enjoy the sights and sounds of the coast. One very small wall heater about 8 inches from the bed. Did not heat the room and did not leave it on for any length due to perceived fire danger. Took over an hour for staff to deliver a phone book.
Gorgeous surroundings, nice private balcony, good views of bay Restaurant under construction - can't wait to go back so we can eat on-site.
the location was great, and the area was quiet and relaxing, just as I had wanted. although we had a garden view room, we still had a wonderful view of the bay. the quality of furnishings was less than I expected, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable.
This is a beautiful resort for bird watchers, boat enthusiasts, golfers and anyone interested in amazing customer service. -pool and jacuzzi area was clean -view was awesome from the restaurant -very close to hiking, beaches, shopping -Bed was on the harder side/not super clean -TV is too low on the wall to watch from the bed -Birds were very loud in the morning
The hotel was under construction & I was not advised prior to my stay
large rooms, suite hotel which is great for families complimentary breakfast and reception staff friendly and helpful location parking hotel is looking a bit dumpy in terms of cleanliness carpets were dirty and very worn overall interior was dark and needs freshening up first time i've stayed in the hotel where i've had to call housekeeping for cleaning/service
Breakfast and happy hour were great The air conditioner was poor, carpets were dirty
Extremely friendly and helpful staff! Also rooms are impressive as are the amenities the hotel offers (included cocktail hour and excellent made-to-order breakfast included!)
Carpets seemed to be worn in lounge area
- breakfast - free happy hour - AC didn't work - was given a queen instead of king room - was charged the wrong rate (booking.com rate was $200/nt, theirs was $290) - front desk didn't care that the AC didn't work or that I was given the wrong room, instead told me to book through their site and not booking.com, had to spend 15m getting them to agree on the originally booked price
Why I booked the room, the site said WiFi access for free. But the hotel said there was fee and usually website other than theirs do not give correct info. I argued with them finally they gave me the access for free. Not a good experience. Very old hotel.
Slept so well I didn't want to get up! Nothing
Friendly and clean A little "kitch", but pleasant enough to stay at
Very nice hotel, comfortable, clean room, nice stuff
Nice Hotel in a great spot
THE rooms are nicely appointed and have a great view of the bay Nothing
Wonderfull charming rooms and a good breakfast.
The Decor is lovely, with a canopy bed and a fireplace, very romantic, the staff was very helpful, and the mini round belgium waffles at breakfast were really good.
The reception was very pleasant, the wine tasting a surprice that worked out vrey nice. The room was as displayed on the website. In other words all was as you would expect from this classs of hotel.
Location, breakfast, views, staff
great staff, clean rooms, walking distance to shopping/dining. will definitely stay here again.
Staff very friendly and helpful,
everything was new and very nice, very close to the ocean and all the shops walls were are a little thin can hear the people snoring upstairs
They claim breakfast included, but isn't true. Only coffee and one table for all rooms! Old fashion room, without elevator. Impossible to connect to Wireless Internet. No air conditioning on the room. Quality/Price really bad. Suggestion: stay out of this hotel
no one. Worse experience when i have been travelling in California. A nightmare, i didn't sleep all night, internet didn't work, the stuff of the hotel very rude a very bad experience. The hotel is in a good location (close to morro bay -there isn't anything here except the big rock). BTW the stuff was very bad. It's an indian family, i checked in with a little child with around 13 years old. Internet didn't work properly and when i asked some help after 2 minutes the father of this guy started to be very rude. He told me to leave the desk (because it's a private area) and if i was unhappy for internet i could leave the hotel. After that, when i back in the room i discovered that the wall was very thin. I didn't sleep all night. Someone close to my room watched TV and talked in the room until middle night. When finally i was sleeping, some noise from above (because the hotel is in papier mache)
very nice, cline room, very good price, near the sea, very nice persons in lobby - very helpfull
location needs some repair - wifi not available in all rooms
nothing the room was dirty and full of hairs all over the bed, the shower, the bathroom. we report this, but got not answer. The shower key was very very very hard to open. I felt the wall was going to fall
Location The walls were thin could hear the hotel staff below talking til late. Also the bath tub was dirty, with hair in it.
Location is great about 2 blocks from the waterfront and all the shops. The staff was kind and friendly and the room spacious. Our room was close to the cleaning closet and as of 8 am they had te laundry going which did not allow us to sleep. The breakfast is meager with morsel portions at best.
Location location location. Easy walking to front street, dinner, shops, etc. Bed was awful, paper thin walls so heard EVERYTHING going on in the room next door.. And I mean everything. Breakfast was no bueno. Early check in was not allowed even though I requested it. If it weren't non refundable we probably would have found somewhere else to stay..
Nice and quiet would be better if the rooms were alittle bit bigger
This hotel was conveniently located near the tourist areas as well as the local hangouts. It was clean and the bathrooms have been updated. We had an upstairs room with a ceiling fan and ac unit worked well. Rooms had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Sheets were clean and fresh. Mattress was hard as a rock, lucky I brought my tempurpedic pillow. My back was sore after the first night. Booking was supposed to be a Queen but it was more like a double. My feet hung over the bottom of the bed unless I curled up. Other than that I will definitely stay again.
Price and all other aspects of the hotel were good. Nothing fancy, but the hotel satisfied what I wanted for this trip. Wine and cheese benefit could be improved or dropped, minimal effort was done on the cheap.
Quiet and clean No elevator
My room was clean, quiet and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and polite. The hotel is in a great location, close to SLO, shopping and the beach areas. I would stay again.
The hotel was comfortable, the room clean, well arranged with an excellent bed; something we've had every time we stayed at a Great Western. Decent price. Good, helpful staff. We'll use this chain as our default hotel.
walking distance to cerro (the big mountain in town) trails. Far from the downtown corridor. , you have to drive or bike into town.
This basic room provided comfortable beds, a clean room and bathroom, a good breakfast, and updated furniture and electronics. Plenty of outlets. Couldn't hear anything from adjacent rooms. We just needed a place to rest during our road trip and this place was by far the most expensive we stayed at. If you have to make a last minute reservation be prepared to pay at least a 50% hike up.
We always have a great stay at this hotel. We will definitely be back the next time we are in San Luis Obispo.
Other than loud neighbor it was s berry comfortable stay. Will stay there again.
Clean bathrooms, great staff!
Extremely helpful staff
was clean, quiet, convenient location, nice staff breakfast was free but not very good.
I like to feel welcome when I stay somewhere. Daniel always made a point of greeting us each time we entered or left the lobby.
very clean and roomy, friendly staff not given a good view of Morro Bay
Rooms are updated and clean. My original room was next to the breakfast area. I requested to be moved for a quieter section of the floor. The change needs to be done through the 3rd party (Travelocity) who called Comfort Inn. Travelocity to credit my account and for Comfort Inn to charge me for the room and swipe my card again. I hope I was not charged twice. I left with a blank bill which the front desk is normal. In all our stay was pleasant and will consider Comfort Inn in the future.
Great place. Great location. Reasonable prices. Close to the water. Very clean. Very comfortable. Would definitely come back.
staff were helpful
I liked the look and layout of the Inn. The hotel and rooms were beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable and the complimentary items were a nice touch. Most of the staff members were friendly and polite, too! Now and then, some of the staff members did not acknowledge the customers.
Convenient to highway, not far from airport. restaurant on premises although too pricey for what it had to offer, wine by glass very limited selection and not good! See above
First off, cookies daily-enough said! Clean rooms with charming atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Ate at the restaurant for breakfast, food was very good. Boysenberry preserves tasted delicious atop their pecan raisin scone. Suggest giving it a try. Complimentary transportation from airport or train station was very helpful considering the price surge x 5 from Uber. Hotel was in a great location near town. Highly recommend!
Starting with the friendly staff we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. We had a comfortable room and the location was perfect (right between town and Cal Poly campus). No complaints.
Through Kayak the Appke Farm rooms are in the Trellis Court (vs "main" hotel), so there were less amenities in the rooms... that said, the rooms were head-and-shoulders above any other hotel we've ever stayed at. Love this hotel, the restaurant & shop.
Room was spacious, view from 2nd floor was beautiful looking directly at Morro Rock. Good parking, didn't have to drive anywhere for lunch or dinner unless you wanted to. Many restaurants and shops in very easy walking distance, although there are stairs to navigate if you want to walk to the embaradero. Staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast provided eggs, pancakes, oatmeal, etc., plenty of coffee. Pillows are very hard - had to sleep without one or get a stiff neck. Room had a stale odor which persisted for hours- staff offered to move us to another room. Dissipated by evening with window opened.
Loved the location and the rooms were huge.
Walking distance to town, great location and view No pool, no jacuzzi. Decor is dated very close to town
Too expensive, breakfast was too poor for this price.
Very quite and safe feeling.
Hotel rooms appear to have been renovated and the room was very cute and comfortable. The small kitchen was a big bonus. Loved that there was a back door into the kitchen as well. Room was a bit warm and stuffy, as there was no a/c there. However, no a/c is pretty common in the area and the outside temps were unusually warm so I doubt this is normally an issue. A ceiling fan or portable one would have helped, but we did not ask.
The room was comfortable, well laid out, and immaculate. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown and close to the University where I had meetings. I ate dinner at the Bistro and the food was fabulous. Our server was amazing and described the dishes perfectly. Delicious meal!! Overall the hotel is beautiful. I do plan to return. Please know that the front desk staff is kind and friendly. However, while escorted to my room no one offered to assist me with my bags. I wasn't aware there was no lift and would have to negotiate stairways. My room was up a flight of stairs and with back problems carrying my heavy suitcase can be tricky. It's a bit embarrassing for me to ask for help with what may seem a not too heavy bag for most people. I had to pause and ask for help. Would have been a nice gesture for the front desk to ask if I needed assistance with my bags. Small detail but an important one for future guests.
Food, rooms, staff, balcony Nothing
Walk around downtown. Well designed rooms.
Very close to shopping. Recently renovated. Comfy soft bed and lots of pillows. Larger size room big enough for our baby's pak n play too. Would definitely stay again. Only a stall shower, no tub. Blow dryer didn't work. A little noisy from street traffic.
Hotel was extremely cleand and room was very comfortable, great cost/benefit
Good location, close to all facilities at Morro Bay
It was graduation weekend at SLO, so all hotels/motels were booked or extremely overpriced. Days Inn was pleasantly surprising in comfort & cleanliness. Would stay again.
We enjoyed the feeling if privacy. The 11am check out felt rushed and not up to the relaxed vibe standards.
The gardens by the road. That whole area was beautiful. I liked my own hot tub. Comfy beds. The bridge to the bike path was awesome. The employees were very nice. The front area and gift shop were beautiful. A bit run down and stained (bathroom, table in room, old chair at hot tub). Put some hooks on the walls and people will be more inclined to reuse their towels and not throw them on the floor. Also, it was loud and creaky because of the old building. We were below in "Harmony" and when the people above us walked, it was very loud. And it was very dark to enter the hallway and get to our room...kinda ghetto. Also, it would've been nice to know ahead of time how steep the hillside was with inadequate parking (I am temporarily handicapped, post surgery.), and how strong the sulfur smell would be with the hot tub. Plus, they are really NOT hot tubs...that stay hot. They are just large tubs. You have to fill them to use them every time. Clarity on all that would've been so much better.
Private hot tub Exterior building and hall way need to update make them new.
Hot springs water No baby crib available No additional movable bed. No breakfast included with expensive room price (over $300) dirty and old room and deck, jaccuzi No matches or lighters. Not very friendly staffs. We were disappointed with this resort. NOTHING GOOD
I had a relaxing time in Sycamore Springs. My boyfriend & I spent a few days & even had a romantic candlelit dinner at the hotel restaurant. We really enjoyed the convenience of our very own hot tub. The decor in the rooms was outdated, and I saw some stains in the bathroom when we arrived.
The rooms were beautifully decorated. .. felt very at home . Super quiet and relaxing. Waffles and eggs cooked to order for breakfast with bananas in top was so good .
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the San Luis Creek Lodge! The staff were friendly, and the room was super cute!
Location and price were great for the area. Breakfast was better than average continental option Breakfast was only served 730-930.. Traveling for business, so breakfast at 6 or 7 is much better.
The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful, genuinely interested in our comfort. Exceptionally clean as well. I'm not a motel kind of person, usually staying at Holiday Inn Express's etc...and so I was extremely worried about this being a flea bag motel. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into the room. Although it was small, it felt comfy like a bedroom rather than a hotel room. Lace on the windows and furniture, nice t.v., small walk-in closet, new tile and fixtures in the small bathroom. Nice wooded vaulted ceiling. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. And just a block away from Embarcadero St (where all the shops, resteraunts, water, and boats are). So the window looks out on the parking area, oh well. I do not regret staying there one bit. Oh and did I mention it was cleeeeeeean!!
While this isn't a "5 star hotel", it is better than what you would expect for the price and general rating. It's small and privately owned by a single family, so they are much more interested in making sure the stay is phenomenal, compared, say, to a large corporate chain. There's no pool or hot tub, but the beach is very close. There's no room service, but it's within walking distance to lots of restaurants and cafés. And, just like everyone else has said, don't miss the "Magic Fingers"! I'm definitely staying here again! Just like with all hotels, the bed wasn't mine, so it wasn't the most comfortable. However, I've stayed in "nicer" places and I slept better at Sundown Inn.
Right off the get go the staff member who greeted us and employees were very friendly. The room was in the corner without a view but it filled the need and was extremely clean. I got the feeling that a lot of thought was put into customer care which is rare these days. I would definitely stay here again. If I had to really think about it, and this seems really picky, but the electrical could be updated in this room...This is by far not a deal breaker either as everything worked as it should.
OMG, these owners are the nicest people! Plus, they don't tell you but the beds still have "magic fingers" on them! Walking distance to everything in town, overall fantastic. Walking distance to restaurants.
the beds very comfy and rooms quiet. they said there was cont. breakfast that started at 7 am but door was locked could not wait so no food.
Halfway between SF and LA. Next to sewer facilities. Kind of an odd place-- odd smells, odd layout, odd hot tub in parking lot.
