Nice new renovation
Walls are not sound proof. I thought we were sleeping in the same room as the person next door. You could here their TV, talking, coughing and sneezing. Got a terrible nights sleep. Hopefully if you book this place you get a quite neighbour.
We booked this hotel based on the fact that they advertised a kosher restaurant. We arrived at the hotel at 12:30 and were told our room was not ready to come back between 3 and 4. Needless to say everything in this small town closes between one and three. After bumping into a Belmonte local he informed us that the restaurant was not kosher and he also believed the meat was not kosher. Where do you get kosher goat in Portugal? We returned at 4 to receive our keys. This town is very small with very limited restaurants, so we decided to eat at the hotel. Upon opening the menu we noticed the veal was served on a bed of cheese! My husband ordered the daily fish special which was cod. When it arrived it was served like a chicken pot pie, but when he took one bite he discovered that the fish had been placed in the casserole with bones, fins, skin etc. He would have died with all the bones imbedded in this dish. I had vegetable stuffed eggplant which came swimming in a plate of bar b q sauce. We called over the waitress who said that they cook the fish with the "spine" in tact! We were the only customers in the restaurant until finall two other couples arrived. The waiter said the hotel was not busy and could not offer the dessert buffet on the menu. It appeared that we may have been the only occupants of the hotel, so why wasn't our room ready? Breakfast was from 7:30, and being anxious to leave we arrived at 7:30, but nothing was available. We waited 15 minutes and came back to eat some cold items. The coffee came from a machine that was totally awful ; which was what other reviewers had said. After breakfast we wanted to check out but no one was at the desk so we just left. If you are thinking of visiting the Jewish Museum arrive early in the morning, allow yourself about half an hour, and unless you speak Portuguese, there is very little in English. The synagogue which seems to occupy a lovely spot is closed.
Nice rooms. Staff helpfull
Not very good restaurant. Not so kosher as declared
The room was very basic. But what was expected for the price. The staff was very good and welcoming. The dining room was excellent, also for breakfast and dinner. Location was perfect for visiting the Jewish museum, synagogue and Jewish quarter and castle. Loved the town and the people
Friendly staff, easy parking and very good restaurant with nice views.
