Room and facilities excellent massage wonderful pool and jacuzzi wonderful Reception staff very helpful Restaurant staff need to clear tables of dirty plates to allow guests to continue their meal
The hotel is set in fantastic grounds, the rooms are claen and very well presented and staff are really help full.the best hotel we have ever stayed in.
Wonderful facilities, great room, fantastic breakfast.
Nice comfortable room. Not particularly well sign posted and postcode in satnav took to a random farm nearby; we ordered a taxi to take uus to a friend's wedding, when we arrived at reception a few minutes before it was due we asked whether it had arrived, we were told that it hadn't, 10+ minnutes later someone told us that our taxi had been waiting outside for a while. We were almost late for the wedding. Not knowing the hotel it would have been really helpful if someone could have told us where to wait.
The bed was comfortable although I felt there should be 4 pillows for a superking .. the cooked breakfast was very tasty.. going outside between the hotel facilities and the bedroom .. not convenient and cold and damp as it was raining .. it was very inconvenient to have no mobile phone connection (Orange) unless I went out into the carpark and stood in the rain.
Spa facilities were excellent. Location was great for shopping at Bicester Village and visiting Blenheim Palace. Sports bar was dirty. Kept awake on first night due to a loud function which went into the small hours of the morning. Breakfast was disappointing. More like a travel inn than a 4 star hotel but at a vastly inflated price!
The room and bed, in particular, was very comfortable and the breakfast was also very good. The cost was high and not enough clothes hangers and only 3 pillows when 4 was needed.
The size of the room The bed in the luxury room was dirty and put a bad start to what was our anniversay! Coiuld not believe how expensice the G&Ts were!!!!
Stayed with girlfriends for a shopping weekend, really nice hotel, very comfortable, good food and courteous, helpful staff. Would definitely stay again
Staff were very pleasant and helpful Room had ample space and the bed was really comfortable. The Health Spa facilities were great. Arrived around 3pm, feeling rather hungry. We were told that we could get baguettes, paninis or a sandwich in the Sports Bar but all that was left was a couple of sandwiches. Unusually long wait for Breakfast but worth it when it arrived.
Location. Over a Pub and very noisy. Also no air conditioning so very hot.
Breakfast finished at 9am
Nothing at all. It was truly dreadful! Dreadful rooms, incompetent staff, a toilet that didn't work with a turd in it to greet me, disgusting breakfast. I could go on...
friendly atmosphere good entertainment nice friendly staff lovely clean spacious rooms in a very central spot
The room was clean and cool (a blessing in the summer heat), the bed was comfortable. A very convenient bar downstairs with a decent beer on tap. No noise from the music etc in the pub downstairs. Breakfast was fine. Noise from pub air-conditioning or something in the room. The cook did not speak any english so we were not able to order anything other than a set breakfast (although it tasted good) and we got the wrong drinks (cappucino instead of cup of tea)
The whole stay was great None
The hotel room is too hot. No privacy as when I was trying to get some nap after coming back from work my room door was open twice by the cleaner. This is not a good one as for the first time I was in the bathroom when my door was open. When I came out from the room no apology from her at all.
Convenient location. Good local restaurants to choose from. Room we had could have done with a bit of a revamp
It was in the centre of town - good location, good temperature lumpy bed, noisy disco until 12.30am
Our room number 6 was fantastic, extremely cosy and value for money.
Its position in the town; furnishings of a high standard, staff very well presented. Although many foreign staff all spoke English of a very high standard. I think the costs of breakfast there is excessive, really. The bar area could do with freshening up a bit.
The location is excellent. Right on the main street in the delightful village of Woodstock. There are a lot of super eating places around every corner. We did have lunch on the first day of our stay. Lets just stay that it did not inspire us to book dinner for either evening. Try to make sure that byou do not have anyone sleeping in a room above you - the creaking will keep you awake.
I booked the Blenheim package, when I arrived and was shown to the room, was suprised to be given the Marlborough Suite, which was awseome. With a seperate lounge, two plasma screen t.v.,s and a wonderful four poster bed. What a lovely suprise. We used the dining room in the evening, and had a deliscious 3 course meal with wine. What a lovely treat, can,t wait to return, especially as at Blenheim they turned our tickets into annual passes free of charge, so will definatelly be visiting again.
The fact that we were within walking distance to Blenheim Palace. Apart from that we used the Hotel as a stopping off place on our journey south and nothing else. We dined out at another restaurant in Woodstock because we did not fancy the menu at the Bear.
Fine old building with lots of charachter. Staff helpful and friendly Very pricy for the room we had which was basic and we could hear clearly all of the activity in the next room. Prices of the mini bar are outrageous-also a dinner of modest proportions came to over £90 for two.
Beautiful setting, lovely surroundings, good food and friendly staff. Accommodation clean and comfortable.
Location nr Blenheim Palace and central of Woodstock; Staff were excellent in dealing with a booking error; room was newly furnished; food was great We booked a four poster bed room; which wasn't available- we'd been allocated a standard room - error in their processing- staff quickly rectified by finding us an exec suite and adding breakfast and £20 off bill; bathroom was very cold - mentioned that at checkout; chimney fire at 5.25am meant that we have to vacate our room in -5 degC temps
the bedroom there was a big coach party in the breakfast room we had to wait 10 minutes to be seated and the noise was dreadful with people standing close to our table carrying on conversations. not relaxing at all. this hotel is over-trading on its facilities.
Visit Palace food and drink cost
Everything, the room, the big parking space (unusual for England), the bed, the triple-glazed windows, the bathroom, the little things inside the room that are quite useful, (kettle, hair dryer, etc), and the staff. No free breakfast. 'Free' wifi was too slow to watch youtube. There is a 'premium' one for a fee. That's wrong. I had fast wifi in a cheap motel in the US. Internet is a basic thing nowadays. Free breakfast and a fast wifi would get them another star.
Predictable A little hard to get to from the direction I was coming
The dinner was good and so was the breakfast. nice and helpfull staff members
I would never return to that hotel again the worst price/quality ratio ever; location in the middle of nowhere; old furniture; mould in the bathroom,
Very friendly and courteous staff. Nothing too much trouble to them. Nice room, very comfortable and quiet. Lovely breakfast. Small informal bar, and very enjoyable. Rooms very well appointed and equipped and of great proportions. Hotel is a bit further from Bicester than web site suggested, so taxi fares were more expensive than expected. However, this would not be an issue for car drivers, so shouldn't be a deterrent.
Layout, cleanliness Menu was adequate, but limited.
Great Location,hotel and staff.
The hotel restaurant was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The accomodation was comfortable and the facitilies good. We enjoyed our stay.
Well presented and beautifully clean accommodation, Good breakfast
Waiting time for dinner was 50 mins - no meal shoul take this long. Whilst waiting I observed another diner given the wrong food and a lady diner given the wrong drink. Probably there were only 6/8 table used - so therfore the hotel needs look into its systems and staff!
I was very pleasantly surprised. This was a new hotel and the room was immaculate and very well fitted out with everything we could want for an overnight stay.Breakfast was fine and all in all very good value for money. The hotel was a bit hard to find but it was dark and we didn't know the area at all!Close to Bicester and very quiet. Staff were very pleasant and no problems at all with the booking. Not applicable
Excellent Check in process, could not of been more helpful. Room great, change the batteries in the tv remote please! Breakfast very nice, quick service but freshly cooked. Only the tv remote batteries!
enjoyed dinner and breakfast and friendlyness of the manager and staff - enjoyed the open fire place - hotel was easy to find located a little too far out of Woodstock which meant we had to use the car to visit Windsor central as opposed to leaving the car and walking we didn't realise this at the time of booking - also free WIFI only worked in the bar area not in your room - no real problem but just a little inconvenient
friendly helpful staff, good beer. noisy pipework
The staff were t.he best part as they were so friendly and the food was lovely sheets and blankets on the bed rather than duvet
Staff helpful, friendly and 100% willing to help. Food excellent and great value. superb.
Breakfast was excellent.
Nothing It was a motel with small dowdy rooms attached to a pub. breakfast in the bar. It is 1.8 miles from the centre of Woodstock. Not worth the AA stars.
Friendly and helpful staff
The staff were fantastic, couldn't do enough to help. They booked taxi's and recommended local places. The local area is amazing, definitely worth a trip
There was ample parking, the room was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. we were visiting Blenheim Palace so the Hotel was within easy reach (3min) of Woodstock and the Palace.
Superb Food Excellent receotion service Room was a little hot
Rooms, esp bathrooms very tatty. Wallpaper peeling, paint in need of refreshing, bathrooms very tired and tacky. Food ordinary. Luggage service non-existent. Price extorionate for what was offered. Unimpressed
Excellent position relative to Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Attentive staff and a first class restaurant. Lack of air conditioning in higher level rooms. Hot air tended to rise up the stair well.
Very comfortable room, loved the jelly beans! Bathroom a little cold and no proper mirror.
Good location. Excellent food.
Breakfast Our room lacked a view
The ambience and service All fine
Brilliant range of continental and English breakfast in a nice setting. Really nice staff and good service. The room is better than the five star Randolph hotel in the Oxford city centre, and has a decent size en-suite bathroom. A pot of green tea for two in the afternoon was £6.50 in the back garden, although we had the garden all to ourselves that afternoon. There was no lifts in the hotel but we did leave our baby's pram at the reception.
Great food, excellent service, lovely room, free Wi Fi connection Far too hot, no fresh air, no mobile signal
excellent english country hotel food is good but breakfast should be better.
Freidnly staff, excellent food, very nice clean modern room My only minor gripe if there where no walk in shower or shower screen on freestanding bath. The one benefit was I had a really nice soak in the large bath.
Big clean rooms, large bathrooms with a wet room shower. Great food and a nice atmosphere.
Beautiful and quite just outside oxford with a bus stop almost every 30 minutes going into town.
The food was fantastic
The food, the relaxed atmosphere and very good, friendly staff. The power shower wasn't particularly good but hardly a bad point
the location the duvet was stained had to ask them to change it. mirrow light in bathroom didnt work. double glazing panes not on window but up against wall. ivy from outside growing inside through windows. radio on all of the time in the bar not giving us any peace. expensive for what you got.
Delightful premises and comfortable , spacious room providing an excellent nights sleep . ample breakfast . Staff were very pleasant by very amateur and senior staff almost casual . The common areas could certainly do with a bit of maintenance and decoration . a request for a snack in the evening was met with the reply that the kitchen was closed early because they had a large party in for a meal ; an offer of something modest would have been nice , rather than peanuts before bed !
Very friendly staff, good food, excellent location in town. A very enjoyable experience.
Historic Could do with bigger portions of cooked breakfast,as not all like cereal beforehand.
The room was big and the shower room was well appointed. The breakfast was good Although the shower room was very nice it could have done with a power shower as it was a deluxe room We had to ask for a heater as the radiator was not on and didnt come on during our stay .The traffic noise was verybad .we could here too much of what was going onin other rooms!!!
Clean, relaxed, homely & historic. Lovely big room. Breakfast was included but cooked option didn't appear fresh-likely been sitting on hot plate for a while.
Nice ambiance, attractive historic building, friendly staff My chair leg slid down a huge crack in the bar floor at breakfast time - in an old building things like this are always possible so repairs have to be done in a timely manner.
Excellent Staff No Power Shower
Great oldy worldy hotel but needs modernisation of bathroom facilities. Its situation in Woodstock makes it very convenient for visiting Blenheim Palace and Oxford. Good quality full english breakfast served by polite staff. Dont book into room one its over the stairwell and you can hear all the noise from the bar below until 12.30 ish at night. Plus when the windows are open you get all the smoke from outside below where people stand at the door. We asked to be moved on the second night.
