Very confortable room and the air con was very important Very expensive breakfast
Lovely location, charming inn.excellent cuisine and attentive staff - our 2nd stay
Great location and excellent cusine (although expensive). Friendly stuff and good room.
We went there for a special occasion, a treat, and we were thoroughly spoilt. It is expensive - very by French standards, but well worth the experience.
Beautiful location, dining on the terrace overlooking the river is a must. I liked the small touches that the hotel made to make your stay extra special No outdoor swimming pool
The magical position beside the river and the room ambience
the location was super. Breakfast was overpriceed.
The comfort afforded by the room was excellent as was the general standard of the hotel. The setting is superb and ideal to relax in. The staff were excellent, being friendly and informative. The room facilities would have been enhanced by a coffee making facility. Since we do not take formal breakfast this is preferred to service.
The friendly staff throughout, the delightful location of the restaurant and the quality of the food.
Great welcome and was upgraded to a better room because of limited number of guest staying at the time. I was the only diner in the restaurant, but still 3 staff members made my meal the most memorable I have every had! The food was extraordinary and the presentation was superb. Every detail was exquisite. Property is difficult to locate on gps and because there are no signs on road into Brantome to show where it is. It is a fair distance outside the town.
The owners were delightful and most helpful with their advice about nearby villages of interest. Our meals were beautifully served and delicious and our room was comfortable and attractive..
A warm welcome followed by excellent service and food ; it was my wife's birthday and the stay fulfilled all we both could have wanted .
Excellent welcome, food and service beyond reproach, relaxed atmosphere
Charming family run hotel. Great food. Very friendly.
Very quiet, lovely bathroom, beautiful setting.
Beautiful relaxing setting. Elegantly refurbished buildings. Food excellent if a little pricey. Ideally located for the region and Brantome, which you can walk into during daylight. Owners could not have been more welcoming and helpful.
Very beautiful hotel run by a lovely family who make every effort to make your stay feel very special. Their restaurant is excellent the service is superb.
We found the setting very nice. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was first class although a little expensive.
A fantastic end to a great week. A big thank you to Oliver and his family for making our stay a great one. Great hosts and a big shout to Oliver's dad who must be one of the best chefs kicking about. It's been a long time since I ate food as good. It's not often you come across a guy who cares as much about the food he cooks. Awesome. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
The welcome from the staff was wonderful. None
Very nice breakfast buffet, if a little pricey. Helpful staff. Easy check-in and check-out. I'm sensitive to perfumes and their cleaning chemicals were a little heavy in that area - but I think this wouldn't bother most people.
It's a lovely castle, very quiet, very elegant
Beautiful location beautiful chateau fantastic food and service staff very very helpful.Very peaceful and quiet great to get away from the stresses of life. Close to many beautiful towns in france Website shows pool table this has been sold also shows pool but we went in may/june and pool not open very disappointed especially for our son. Heating also turned off and weather not warm enough so room was cold.Hotel did give us 2 fan heaters to use. Also although the food was superb not children food friendly.
The whole setting was fantastic. Lovely walk to the nearest village. Great that we could take our dogs. The day we arrived after a very long drive, all we wanted was a simple meal in the evening. Unfortunately the menu cost was 59 euros regardless of whether you only had a main course of 20 euros. I think this should be pointed out on your web site as the hotel is in a very remote area and if, like us, you have been driving all day the last thing you want to do is go out to eat. Needless to say we did not eat at the hotel again, which was a shame as the food was excellent. A bit more flexibility on the menu side would be great.
A lovely location. The village of Bourdeilles is about 3km away and is fabulous. The whole area is lovely and very quiet in comparison to the UK, especially on the roads. If you want hotel room with air-con and 24hr room service this part of France is not for you; though if you want to unwind, visit picturesque medieval towns here, there and everywhere then this is the place. We also try to converse in French as far as possible and haven't yet met any rude or off-hand locals in years of visiting France. It is exactly as you would expect, as comfortable as the context would allow - ie not overly done-up and ruined but consequently no air-con or power-shower.
The Chateau was beautiful and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Food was fantastic, noy cheap but well worth the money we paid.
Splendid view No shower-in general toilet room under average- no hair dryer-
yes - hotel in need of an up date and therefore not good value for money. Dinner was overpriced.
drove through a field of sunflowers and corn, then reached this amazing castle......beautiful.Large spacious old fashioned room.Great experience.highly recomended!!!!!
Staff attentive Tatty - broken bin in bathroom. Paintwork peeling, stains on ceiling. Originally put in gatehouse which is a fair way from chateau especially in the pouring rain - but moved when we complained. Chateau in need of some TLC.
It was a beautiful setting and because we stayed in the gate lodge we could come and go as we pleased. The gate lodge has separate individual rooms to stay in and the front door has to be locked by the key at all times and all the windows downstairs have bars so it is a major concern, in the case of an emergency a key has to be used to get out and in a panic situation it would be a major concern of mine. Obviously no health and safety officer has checked it, if they even have health and safety officers in France! He who maketh the rules does not necessarily have to abide by them!
The hotel was in an excellent position right in the heart of this beautiful tourist town. The owners were extremely helpful, friendly and charming. The room was very elegant and spacious along as were the bathroom facilities. The continental breakfast was declicious which is included in the price.I would return here again and again. I recommend this hotel very highly.
The service and helpfulness of the staff was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and there are a lot of 5 star establishments that could take a leaf out of their book. The rooms are large, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Last but not least you are right in the centre of town but in a quiet street with very little street noise. Superb B&B!
Nice modern clean room The room in Tour in france was too hot and we couldnt open the window very far. When we did it was incredibly noisy. The girl on reception was sharp, abrupt and I didn't like her tone when I asked to see the room first. She treated me as if I was a nuisance..
choice of restaurants nearby. secure parking. not having tea / coffee facilities in the room.
good value, comfortable and lovely view of city
We liked the fact that the hotel was central and that parking was available at a very reasonable cost immediately opposite the hotel. We arrived early and were immediately allocated a room. Nothing
Excellent service, very good location, very good value for money, rooms are comfortable, modern and clean. We recommend it warmly
location, comfort, and nice staff price of petit dejeuner
It was clean and the staff we kind and helpful.
The service given by the staff was excellent. The selection at breakfast was very good. No comments.
A perfect stop-off point. Clean and modern, free wi-fi was a big plus for us. Good private off-street parking.
Superb in every aspect!
This boutique hotel is in a beautiful, peaceful location with excellent grounds and lots of character, but only a 10 minute walk from the lovely town centre of Brantome. The hosts made us feel extremely welcome and did whatever they could to help with any requirements we had (umbrellas unfortunately, and torches for the walk to town were particularly helpful). If I were to be very critical, some of the decoration in the bedroom and bathroom is getting a little tired and could soon do with refreshing. A couple of housekeeping points were overlooked too, but in no way did this spoil the stay. We will definately return.
This was a beautiful place: the house, the setting, the welcome and care, the location, the food, the rooms, the decor. We thought it would require a car journey to Brantome, but it was actually within pleasant and easy walking distance. Personally, I did not like the feel of the waterproof cover under the sheet on the bed, but I appreciate the reasons for it being there.Nothing else!
Lovely relaxing atmosphere, a real feeling of indulgence and luxury and very welcoming hosts. I thought the charge for the extra beds for the children was a bit much as we had already paid for a family room.
Hospitable welcome and picturesque location Nothing
personal attention on arrival and during stay. very helpfull and interested in guest comfort. immediate response to any request.
Most staff spoke some English. Lovely terrace and pool. Good breakfast. We stayed in a luxury room in the castle bit (which was very small for a castle) and although the bathroom was large there was no shower - just a bath with hose attachment but nowhere to attach it to the wall. Room had very high ceilings which made it a bit cold looking - not very cosy. The waiting staff were almost too attentive - felt like they were watching you all the time. The gourmet food was not to my liking - black olive sorbet and pigeon legs just didn't do it for me. The bread and butter was very nice though.....
Helpful reception staff Nice room 12pm Check out! no tea or coffee making facilities (but that's expected in France!)
the staff were very helpful Advertised was the use of the internet and I had to go behind the reception to use it as there was none available anywhere. Also we were told that breakfast had finished and we had to ask before recieving any, it was only 8:30.
ambience, decor and food made for a memorable stay
The outdoor pool was excellent and the Châteaux was a very interesting and looked very dramatic. The position was good, near to Perigueux town centre The room (no. 6) was a budget room and lacked facilities, there were no 'Chateaux' features in the room. The carpets were dirty, wallpaper was hanging off, there was no fixed shower, there was no tea/coffee making facilities and the breakfast was a poor buffet .
Great looking place, pool and tennis open to Orangerie residents. None.
Nice & quiet location, staff were very friendly, setting was lovely. Although the food was very, very good, it was expensive in comparison to the room rates.
Beautiful chateau and grounds. Toilet seat in our room needs replaced badly. Reservation was quoted at 85 Euros, but they charged 98 Euros. Continental breakfast on their flyer in the room was supposed to be 8 Euros and they charged 14 Euros each. We never noticed until after the checkout.
At the end of our holliday our stay was was a surprise for my wife the perfect French experience and a lovely memory to take home with us We were treated so well by the staff in the resteraunt and made to feel very special thank you everything was perfect
firendly and relaxed
Everything about Le Moulin du Roc was wonderful. The staff, the lovely property, the food, etc. We stopped in between a night further south in the Perigord region and the Loire Valley. I would have happily stayed another night or two to relax!
Old traditional feel about hotel and furnishings - antique but quaint. No
ambiance,delightful staff.relaxing luxurious surroundings,absolutely enjoyable experience.
The location is the prime asset, on the banks of the Loiret, yet only 5 miles from Orleans centre
This hotel is in perigueux on the edge of the dordogne France, there are lots of local restaurants in perigueux. The receptionist did not talk English and our French is very basic, but this was not a problem.
Location, clean hotel
Position - quick walk into Perigrueux Parking Breakfast was very easy
very good position - close to old town - you can reach the city centre on foot in a few minutes. car park available free of charge . nice room , clean and quite big. no problem if you come back late at night. car park quite small , one night we had to leave the car outside
The reception was fast ,friendly and efficient. The parking on-site was important. The breakfasts were adequate. There is incredibly little nearby of great interset to holidaymakers;it's a 20-25 walk to the characterful old town. The value was reasonable.British visitors expect to be able to make a cup of tea in their room and that is very common in British hotels but absent here.We had to bring a kettle,milk,teabags,sugar,spoon,etc.. Please see above comments
the value and the welcome
Generous sized room. Brand new and very modern shower/WC. Quite (as advertised). Continental breakfast buffet included a more varied choice than I have seen before.
Modern hotel, friendly reception. Room very good, with excellent bathroom. 2 basins. Plenty of storage space. Good parking at front of hotel.
It was all very simple and the breakfast was good. THe local brochure about events in the region was out of date - July 2010. Up to date information would be helpful.
well located (5-10 mins walk from down town) - free parking for guest - free wireless internet - very friendly staff & owner - breakfast is good value for money (7 euros) far better than usual 12-16 euros buffet. - quiet place for a cental hotel location. No doubt that we'll go there again next time we have to pass by Périgueux
its allways good to stay at a place you know in adwance what you will get for your money. staff was wery helpful getting an electric heater
Convenient location with a fully operating shower and kettle Poor air conditioning unit, compact rooms, no lift and poor value for money in the restaurant in the evening. On leaving the hotel and retrieving the cases from the floor of the room, the cases were covered in dust !!!
We had a lovely stay! All the staff made us feel very welcome and special. We would also like to mention the chef - Jon Luc - the food was delicious!!!! We always stay at the Campanile chain as we travel through France and as far as the staff is concerned this is one of the best!!!! Congratulations.
Handy and convenient
our room No 37 had a fan running on the roof ,which kept us awake most of the night
The hotel was easy to find. It was well situated for an overnight stop on a journey through France.
room was very clean, rates were excellent did not know there was no hotel staff -- internet should have given instructions for checking in
In truth, nothing at all. Sorry! There were 6 rooms booked for our group and we were locked out of the hotel on the second day due to a malfunction of the door lock. We had important items to collect for an event that was due to commence just 40 minutes later some 5 km away and could not find anyone to open the doors and let us in. This was appalling and unacceptable by a 'reputable' hotel group? The breakfast was poor. No bowls for cereal, plates, onlywarm water for tea etc.. Had to cancel one room which cost 39€ even though I cancelled it over 24 hours in advance!!!
