The owner was very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooked the river. The room price per night could of been a little cheaper.
The host was very gracious and had excellent recommendations for restaurants. A lovely stay.
Super Inn tostay at when you have friends in the area or wish to visit area in general
The friendliness of the staff, ambience of the inn & good food. Just what we wanted for the weekend break.
Good breakfast. No.
Everything was clean and tidy, the welcome from the staff on our arrival was warm and genial, we had the best room at the inn and though it overlooked the main road there was little traffic noise to disturb our sleep. Bed was very comfortable and the food very good value.
The warmth, the staff, the meals, the rooms and the history of the inn nothing,A1
convenient location - extremely nice staff mattress was too soft
The breakfast was great and so was the service
My Wife andI was very impressed with everything
we found the staff welcoming, the food was excellent great location and easy to find. The rooms were tastfully decorated within keeping of the Inn. We couldnt of wished for a better hotel. We booked for the one night and the following week we were glad we had chosen this hotel.
Evening meal was very good value, and huge portions The Music in the Bar was rather loud and went on to 1am in the morning. This could not be heard in all rooms, but certinally in one of ours.
Value for money - very comfortable with good food and real ale and good service
Easy to find, good parking, good resturant ie menu range, quality and quantity with reasonable waiting times after placing order. expensive resturant meals and likewise the breakfast costs
Attractive hotel, friendly staff, nice room, lovely food Bed uncomfortable, hard mattress
Excellent food, beer and accommodation all in one place! Ideally sited for links to coastal walks. Found nothing to dislike.
Ideal country location for exploring North Devon. Generally thought the hotel was overpriced based on the quality of room & hotel facilities. Restaurant was also overpriced with poor service.
The four poster bed room and jacuzzi in the bathroom
The room clean and adequately equipped. We dined in the restaurant and the meal was very good in both quality and price. There was an odour of dampness in the corridor leading to the room however this was not noticeable when inside the room
Food was excellent and staff were very helpful and friendly Due to double booking only one of two superior rooms booked was available.Hotel was apologetic and offered compensation without us having to ask.
the quirky bedroom the cold and unwelcoming main entrance seemed more like a store area/passageway
Friendly staff and good meals
Location, food (excellent except that duck was a little overcooked). Rattling draughty sash windows (it was a cold windy night - we had to jam some cardboard to stop them rattling). Shower a little cramped, although excellent quality. Reception not manned after 4pm - had to search out barman downstairs to book for dinner. Normal price would have been high for the facilities (only 2 star) - but location is, of course, superb and the booking.com price showed a considerable saving.
Excellent friendly staff, stunning location but maintained a friendly down to earth welcoming atmosphere as a local pub. N/A
Overall this hotel and its staff were excellent from the location and tranquillity to the food and service including bar staff a very welcoming place to stay will definately book again.Thank you N/A
Relaxed atmosphere combined with stunning location
Fabulous location in a unique village. Extremely friendly and very helpful staff. Comfy rooms, ours had a superb harbour view - as requested. Great food.
Quaint, quiet, very comfortable, fabulous dinner - duck. It was what we were looking for, we loved everything.
location The bathroom: no plug in the bath tub, water either scolding or ice cold Bed room lights: only lamps, no main lightening in room. Bed: very hard an uncomforatble The staff were very unfriendly, we felt this was due to our age (21). Also the Television was not tuned in. For £40 per person per night, equalling 80, we felt we were let down. We stayed in a country house for £75 with four poster bed, flat screen television, excelent food and very friendly staff.
Location to business associates in Bideford Room 145 - Bed was awful. No top filling left in mattress - solid springs for an uncomfortable nights sleep. Unfortunate, but we would not be booking this hotel again unless assured that a comfortable bed is given. Their loss and we have dealings with company in Bideford.
The closeness to the venue we visited. The view from our room. The size of food portions at breakfast. A squeaky bed! Rather small bath towels for an superior room. The rainforest shower was fixed and difficult for tall people to use. The bathroom had had a revamp so that the new tiles on one side of the bath meant that it was impossible to hold the grab rail that side to get in or out of the bath. There wasn't much of the bathside surface available to use either. In the restaurant the service was unusually quick so that the porridge I ordered had been on the table less than two minutes before the cooked breakfast arrived.
closeness to the sea
Food poor, under staffed, bed uncomfortable, shower useless, outside like a rag and bone yard
Food was good with exception of the room service evening meal for which they apologised - certainly not a major problem Breakfast in particular was good work is in progress at the back(our room faced back)and we were awoken by the builders both days(Sat and Sun) at 7.15 - not what you want when you want a relaxing weekend away. A minor thing - they had no local telephone directories for non business numbers.
The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly, our room was decorated to a high standard. The bar meals were very good value. We had a suite with a jacuzzi bath, the room was lovely however there were problems with having sufficient hot water for the bath and the shower. When we complained after the first night we were moved to an adjacent, smaller, suite which was fine. However in this second suite the jacuzzi bath was in the bathroom and there was no separate shower which was inconvenient. Another problem with the first room is that there was a constant background noise which we were not able to identify but did get quite irritating. We did mention this to the reception staff.
The location is good as a base to visit north Devon. The estuary super room that we stayed in was spacious .The breakfast was very generous. The staff were vry helpful. Free wi-fi was an unexpected surprise. I would have rated comfort as excellent if the bed did not creak!
all of it nothing
Basic and very busy good service in the bar and resturant Not enough coffee and milk for two people. Book in time seemed very late Too busy to give proper attention to the guests
The position of the hotel is excellent but the premises are very tired. The facilities of the hotel are poor and the restaurant wasn't open and the bar downstairs was very basic
A quaint building with an older look and feel. Spacious, updated rooms and baths; some with a view of the sea. A snug pub with good pub grub. Good English breakfast. Conveniently located near the top of the hill. Kate, the desk clerk, is quite knowledgeable and delightful to chat with. The variety of cask beer is limited.
The room was fine, the hotel is located at the top of the village, about 1/3 of the way down the hillside. The place is thinly staffed, but the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We arrived after 5 so had to carry our luggage down from the car park. In the morning of your departure they will get the bags up to the visitor centre for you, that worked weill. Both the New Inn and the Red Lion are run by the same people. We had dinner at the Red Lion that we thought was over priced.
the staff were incredibally nice and very helpfull - jumping up to help the second you asked something
Pleasant family-run hotel with acceptable rooms and friendly, good-natured staff. Unique location. Hotel is in a vehicle free village, transporting luggage to and from the venue was a bit of a struggle. Bar food only out of peak season. Sometimes a bit of a wait to get attended at reception.
1.Your staff were all very pleasant. 2. The hoyel was spotlessly clean. 3. The food was excellent. No.
The location is in the centre of Bideford Bathroom is a little out dated for a 3*
The staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant meals were excellent. The car park was across a fairly busy road and held a limited number of cars, when it was full the secondary car park was a short distance away. Not a problem when it is fine but a problem in wet weather.
Good position with a nice walk into Bideford across the bridge
Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed. Decor a little tired and dated.
Very polite staff, Good time range for meals, very relaxed atmosphere A little dangerous crossing road from car park to hotel entrance due to nature of road , but of couse this is really out of hotels control.
poor bathroom (carpets plastic shower curtains modern hotel no no's)
We stayed overnight at the Royal in order to visit Lundy and were delighted with the courtesy and friendlyness of staff, the excellent accomodation and the splended dinner. It was a real treat to have breakfast cooked to order, rather than the limp dried up buffets served at so many hotels nowadays.
Location Friendliness of staff quality of service the bathrooms are getting a bit dated but are still fully functional and clean
Being made to feel wlecome.
