Much of the New Inn Hotel s charm lies in its layout and decor. Rebuilt over 100 years ago in the style of the fabled English designer, William Morris, the hotel has, in more recent times, been completely refurbished, yet has stayed faithful to the original vision. Dining in the magnificently beam-hung Hamlyn Room is a highly satisfying experience. Our menu reflects traditional English cooking at its best, and evolves with the seasons. And with vegetables and produce from Clovelly Court Gardens, grown to organic principles, venison and game from Clovelly Estate, plus fresh fish landed on the nearly quay, our chef creates dishes based on the finest of local ingredients. Dining Room open subject to availability. With picturesque, flower-strewn cottages tumbling down its steep cobbled street to the ancient harbour, Clovelly evokes a timelessness that weaves a particularly enchanting spell, captivating all who visit. So much so that leaving here is often the hardest part. Fortunately, arriving is much easier!
Pros: Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Decor a little tired and dated.
Cons: poor bathroom (carpets plastic shower curtains modern hotel no no's)
Pros: The location is in the centre of Bideford
Cons: Bathroom is a little out dated for a 3*
Pros: We stayed overnight at the Royal in order to visit Lundy and were delighted with the courtesy and friendlyness of staff, the excellent accomodation and the splended dinner. It was a real treat to have breakfast cooked to order, rather than the limp dried up buffets served at so many hotels nowadays.
Pros: The staff could not have been more helpful. The restaurant meals were excellent.
Cons: The car park was across a fairly busy road and held a limited number of cars, when it was full the secondary car park was a short distance away. Not a problem when it is fine but a problem in wet weather.
Pros: Very polite staff, Good time range for meals, very relaxed atmosphere
Cons: A little dangerous crossing road from car park to hotel entrance due to nature of road , but of couse this is really out of hotels control.
Pros: Good position with a nice walk into Bideford across the bridge
Pros: 1.Your staff were all very pleasant. 2. The hoyel was spotlessly clean. 3. The food was excellent.
