Pros: This is a beautiful large old farmhouse set in lovely grounds, with fabulous views over the countryside to the town and the sea. The location is very quiet and peaceful, conducive to a great night's sleep. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and the cooked and continental breakfasts excellent.
Cons: Not the fault of the B&B, but it is located along a narrow, single track lane, with no real passing places. A nightmare when you encounter a vehicle coming in the opposite direction. Thankfully, this only happened to us once.

Some lovely touches in the room, fresh cake left for us one day, great to have use of some of the downstairs rooms too. And what a beautiful property.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful home, warm hospitality with generous flourishes, elegant and comfortable home. We did not want to leave!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were wonderful, the accommodation was FIRST CLASS, as were all the fixtures & fittings. The decoration was immaculate, there was ample parking and a lovely residents lounge & conservatory. We could easily walk to the sea front and down to the high street, though the walk back up "heart attack" hill was a steep one that would challenge those with mobility problems. If you are fit and healthy then stay here, you will have a wonderful stay.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like.

Pros: Could write reams about how perfect this guesthouse is but you just have to trust me that it is! It gave us a wonderful comfy bed in a beautiful room with a balcony, easy parking and a short stroll away from everything in Sidmouth. Can’t talk about breakfast because I had a health problem and needed to leave very early but I can say how unbelievably kind and concerned the owners were and how they went beyond the call to do anything they could to help us. We can’t wait to go back and truly experience everything this lovely house and town has to offer.

Sid Valley Country House Hotel - Sidmouth - Building

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Cottage was lovely. Facilities were great. Hosts very friendly
Cons: The cost for the dog was incredibly pricey at £20 a night especially when you are told that they are not allowed on furniture or beds and it will cost extra if there is any cleaning necessary relating to the dog. I stay at other more costly cottages that charge £30 a week for our dog.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An Excellent hotel to stay, food delicious the rooms are spotless we could not find fault with anything. All the staff really pleasant could’nt do enough for us we would certainly stay there again. Jonty made us feel really welcome.
Cons: NothingAn excellent place
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Friendly, easy going atmosphere without losing its sense of service. The food was excellent. Owners and staff were very good. Easy walking distance from town centre and sea front.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - the location was very very good, close enough to the shops and beach ( 5 mins walk ) but far enough away from both so they didn’t impact on the peace and quiet of the surrounding setting. The staff were very friendly, helpful and cheerful at all times and couldn’t do enough for us. The owner and his wife were very welcoming and cheerful, helpful and couldn’t do enough for the both of us. The food was superb - many choices all superbly cooked and presented. The hotel was very clean and very nicely decorated and our room was terrific, great views, superbly decorated, very light with all the facilities one could ask for. We could not fault our stay. We would certainly recommend the Mount Pleasant hotel.
Cons: Nothing - the biggest problem in most hotels appears to be the shower which quite often doesn’t work 100%, that was not the case at the Mount Pleasant Hotel it worked perfectly.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The whole experience was excellent, and would love to repeat
Cons: Nothing!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting. Friendly staff. Food excellent
Cons: No plugs near the mirror to dry hair. Had to plug hair dryer in the room and then stand in the bathroom to dry hair.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff and a superb dinner; after dinner in a separate lounge; attractive terrace with views over the garden.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Bev and Jonty were so welcoming and friendly. We arrived earlier than the checking in time but the room was ready and Bev, who was 8 months pregnant at the time, took the trouble to climb the stairs to the 3rd floor just to show us our room and make sure we were happy with it. The room and the rest of the hotel was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Meals were delicious and all preferences were cheerfully catered for by the happy, considerate staff. Location was an easy level short walk to the town/seafront. Parked our car in the onsite car park when we arrived and did not move it once until we left. If we visit Sidmouth again this hotel will be our first choice.
Cons: Only thing that could have been better was the shower. Being used to a power shower at home, we found it difficult to control the temperature but did not think this worth mentioning to the hosts. As the room was on top floor we thought that water pressure is bound to be affected and just got on with it.. A very small detail, that did nothing to spoil the wonderful hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was a little bit out of the way for my purposes but acceptable. Large old house set in lovely garden with big mature trees. Nicely kept. Excellent value for the money as price included half board.
Cons: Room on second floor - but hadnt thought to ask for a lower floor room when I booked so my own fault.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Super dinner menu and very attentive staff. Really enjoyed the level of service in the restaurant.
Cons: Nothing

It was probably the best fish and chips I've tasted in a long while! Owners were really friendly and helpful. And the cooked breakfast included was just as delicious! The view from our room was of the church courtyard, the bed was extremely comfy and the en suite bathroom was clean and spacious. Pet friendly and just an overall gem within Sidbury village. Will definitely be staying again if we go to that part of the country again!

Pros: Helpful, willing, friendly staff. A nice well-appointed clean, tastefully decorated room. And an excellent breakfast.

Cons: The car parking was OK but, as always, a bit more space would be nice. Plenty of unlimited free parking in the road outside.

Cons: Really don’t like glass bathroom door which doesn’t fit properly and doesn’t give any privacy. Dead flies on the conservatory ceiling. It wouldn’t be too much trouble to remove them. Too many dogs roaming around for my liking although it does say it’s dog friendly but I don’t appreciate them staring at me at the breakfast table waiting for food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast good, sat for two mornings on the terrace area in the sunshine eating breakfast, lovely countryside views.
Cons: Nothing really.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was brilliant - as the weather was perfect we ate outside on the terrace with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Nothing was too much trouble, the Full English cooked to order, no grease at all and exactly as we had asked for. As much toast as you could wish for and a good range of cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. The room was very clean and comfortable, all of the facilities that you would expect, the view from the window for miles of peace and quiet. Claire and her staff exceptionally hospitable.
Cons: Nothing
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful views of rolling country side from the terrace and great location for trips to the seaside. The room we stayed in was a good size with double windows and a big bathroom. Breakfast was simple but well presented and the table on the terrace was a lovely spot to enjoy the morning.
Cons: Only negative was the placement of sockets in the room. An extension cord would be useful.
7.5 Good
Cons: We had mix up with nightly stay. Our booking stated £230 for 2 nights in superior room and we had paid £50 deposit so was expecting to pay balance of £180. Instead we were told our room should be £260 as we had put in single occupancy for first night. In the end a mutual agreement to pay £240 (paid balance of £190). Why then did our original invoice on booking. Com show total price of £230 and where does this single occupancy for first night show ( we were a couple??).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was excellent but also nicely tucked away with a beautiful view. The breakfast is great and the people are so friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing to improve from our point of view.

Pros: The rooms were beautifully, newly decorated and the beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Everywhere was very clean and well kept. Breakfast was very good and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: There were only 9 parking spaces which were often taken up by people not staying at the hotel. There was long stay parking available along the road at £12 for 24 hours, which is an added expense to the holiday and not good if you can't walk very far and when you would like to drop off your luggage. Also the windows in the hotel required cleaning as the view was a bit obscured!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First class place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Super breakfast, well equipped room, well stocked with drinks, and replacements for tea etc in the corridor is a great touch.
Cons: Parking is a challenge but this is known before you book.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Central to everything Wonderful food and very motivated hardworking team. Place is so well run. Quirky room as old building but completely modernised. Just slopes! Has espresso machine in room. Trendy place highly recommended. My fav breakfast haloumi, wilted spinach, mushrooms on toast!
Cons: Obviously parking an issue in whole area. Dukes only has few spaces but always busy. Festival time so ended up in overnight parking belonging to Bedford Hotel on Esplanade/Station Rd £12 24 hours. You don’t need a car as you are within shopping area and opposite the sea. . Festival time the Inn becomes a party zone with great bands which was brilliant but may not suit everyone.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing central Sidmouth location. The room was spacious for a double.
Cons: No air con and I couldn’t open the windows, so it was boiling!

Pros: Lovely pretty thatched cottage with small garden. Comfortable beds and very clean. Sandy was very welcoming and helpful, the breakfast she cooked was delicious. The early evening 30 min stroll into Sidmouth by the river through the park was very peaceful and we saw lots of wildlife. My sister and I had a great two night break and would come here again.
Cons: Room maybe a little short on space if we were staying longer. Not much room for suitcases but we only had a couple of hold-all’s so it was fine.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Farmhouse Cottage is situated in the village of Sidford very close to Sidmouth, Seaton and the famous Donkey Sanctuary. It is a wonderful old cottage with original features (mind your head!). We were welcomed by Rob who made us tea which we enjoyed in the beautiful garden. He was very knowledgable about the local area and places to visit, and also where to eat. Breakfast was beautiful, cooked to order by Sandra all tastes catered for. Would highly recommend!

Would stay again and absolutely recommend to others.

Cons: Nothing
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel facilities, location and breakfast were good. There was an honesty bar so you helped yourself and left your room number and drinks order on the side. The chickens were entertaining in the garden. All the staff were very helpful.
Cons: The room we were given (217) had two single beds pushed together and not a lot of room around the bed. The room itself was quite small. Had we known the room opposite wasn't booked we would have asked to be moved even if we had to pay a little more as it had an outside terrace and overlooked the pretty garden. The owner had told us the hotel was fully booked when we arrived so we didn't question it until we saw the room was still unused the following morning. Apart from that our stay was absolutely fine.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was modern and well furnished, location was ideal on the seafront and reasonable for the price
Cons: The breakfast service was slow we waited 30 minutes for a cooked breakfast and when it arrived it was borderline raw, the bacon and sausages were not cooked properly. I had to almost walk into the kitchen to find a member of staff to report the undercooked breakfast, they took our plates away, we assumed they were re cooking our breakfast to be asked if we wanted toast and eggs instead as it was too late for them to re cook out breakfast. Safe to say we went hungry that morning.
