Location and price were good
Rattling windows kept us from sleeping and a problem with hot water (there was none) having to have a cold shower
location was good
being charged a retainerof £110 that has still not been refunded 5 days later! creaky bed! no coffee or tea in room. noisy neighbours! while we checked out, ever other customer had various complaints.
The safety measures put in place due to coronavirus and all the staff were friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast was good although it's a shame everything was in disposal containers. Do understand why this was though due to the coronavirus restrictions.
The location of the hotel was fabulous right in the heart of the town. The staff were extremely helpful and could not do enough for us when we asked for extra resources they were only too happy to oblige.
Old historic hotel with character
The top management should review their Covid 19 risk assessment if they want customers to come or return to their hotels serving take away food. We had to eat out of polystyrene containers drink out of paper cups and eat with plastic cutlery which is not acceptable in a 4 star hotel. We visited 4 places in Buxton to eat and all had good Covid 19 procedures using normal plates and cutlery so cannot understand why they have done this. Not having their own chef on site could be a big mistake as you cannot run any hotel of this size without a trained chef
Palace Hotel The Hotel Collection is locate din Buxton, which just so happens to also be the highest market in England at 1,000 feet over sea level. The palace itself dates all the way back to the 19th century, which means guests get to experience a piece of English history every night they stay. The Palace Hotel & Spa was originally constructed in 1863 with 122 rooms and stretching more than 5 acres.
Today, the rooms have been outfitted with all of the modern conveniences that travelers want while still retaining the Old World charm of its original construction. There are several different room types for guests to choose fro, depending on the size of their party and how much extra room they’d like to stretch out. The Family suite is perfect for guests with children who need some additional space for little ones to move around and sleep. Largest among them is the Suite, with a king-sized bed, separate living room, high-speed WiFi, HDTV, and more.
The Palace Hotel has two on-site bars and a restaurant that is available to both hotel patrons and the general public - The Dovedale. The Dovedale’s menu features both iconic British cuisine and international fare. Perhaps the best thing about the restaurant is the view the diners get. The Dovedale’s dining room overlooks The Hotel Palace’s lush garden courtyard for a sweeping panoramic view that is the perfect complement to a hearty meal of fish and chips or ribeye steak.
