The views from the sun terrace. I did not like the restaurant menu as it only gave a choice of 3 starters and 3 main courses which is very poor for a 4 star hotel. I did not like that they closed off the sun terrace on the sunday because of a private function and did not inform us. I did not like that we couldn't have a shower in our room. I did not like the noise above our room.
Beautiful terraces... breathtaking and very nice. Poor air conditioning. Restaurant not completed as well but everyone was so wonderful!!!! Did not like the restaurant but I guess they are improving it.
Our experience of the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia is all totally positive. Such a beautiful hotel and the staff very courteous. Our room with a balcony was on the fourth floor and had a most impressive view of the lake. A 'Lake View' room is a must. We had a very comfortable bed, nice white linen and a great bathroom with lovely toiletries. Lunch on the outside terrace overlooking the lake was great - good food and at a reasonable price. We knew from the website that we were on a road beside the lake, in a 'quiet' area with regards to shops etc., but we were close to the hop-on, hop-off, ferries and could drive into the high mountains if we wished. We would like to return one day and we will certainly recommend this hotel to our friends. There was nothing we did not like.
The view was excellent, the room was beautiful and the staff was freindly and helpful The noise from workers who were doing renovations and the traffic outside our window
lovely terrace and pool. a bit isolated, very quiet.
The view is beautiful (if you get a room overlooking the lake), and the location is extremely convenient to the ferry to Bellagio, Varenna, and Menaggio - just a few minutes walk. It was extremely economical, especially for the area, but I would by no stretch of the imagination call this a luxury hotel. The public spaces are nice, but the rooms are basic. The room was inexpensive, a double with lake view and balcony for $190 per night, so it was an excellent value for the location. It is just fine if you don't intend to spend a lot of time in the room, which is rather dingy. The bathroom was clean and modern, however, and the shower's water pressure was excellent. The room was small and very basic, with very few amenities. The furniture was cheap and ugly - like a college dorm room. The bedspread and blankets were dingy and cheap as well - like at a Motel 6. The breakfast was paltry and completely unappealing. Even the coffee was bad! After the first morning, I skipped breakfast every day, even though it was included. The dining room staff was plentiful but consistently unhelpful and brusque.
The view Hotel recently decorated but looks like finished in a rush. Also still some building work going on outside. The bar area inside has too many lights and lacks any atmosphere.
great building, great pool shabby bedroom i.e.: minor cracks in the wall, warn out floor. Long queue for breakfast
We did like the style of the hotel, the location and the lovely pool area with real lawn and plants and flowers. No complain, but the scrambled eggs at breakfast were terrible.
great place, would highly recommend one of the finest hotels in italy i have benn too. none
Wonderful location, great service, excellent food, elegant hotel
Fantastic old style hotel with great facilites and great staff. Just about the best location on the Lake Como with great views over the lake and Bellagio. Bad Internet service and ridicoulous to pay extra given the EUR 500+ daily room cost
The Hotel looks very nice from the outside. Furthermore its situated in Tremmezo which close to a lot of nice place like Belaggio, etc.. The reception staff is very friendly and helpfull. The rooms need a lot off refurbishing, its not looked after for a long time. Also the rooms are very noisy, you can hear everything what happens next and above you. The waiters aren’t what you would expect for a 5 star hotel. Long waiting times for drinks and food. They don’t seem to enjoy serving you or answering question. The food and drinks are extremely pricy. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels but this is definitely overpriced. Also the waiters and many other staff don’t speak english. Not a problem when you stay in a 3 or 4 star hotel. It can be charming in the begging that they don’t speak English but i would prefer they would speak English
Grand style of decorations, yet very comfortable, No
This place is fantastic. The day spa is superb and service tops
Very nice location and facilities. outlook from restaurants and bars over the lake very impressive. Nothing in particular.
Location, facilities, room I was very unhappy with the service I received at the beach bar
the view of the lake
free internet access
superb location. nice staff, big room poor breakfast.
It is very close of the lake situated in the main road and has parking The doors are closed at night and if you arrive after 12pm you will have to phone a very nice guy Joel to open the door (poor him!)
excellent English breakfast, free parking nearby without security. BIG room and romantic lake view. 2 min to the Pier. wonderful with those who like Lake and leisure far away from City. It's a big hotel so there are a lot of crowdy group tour
Good price, beautiful view of the lake from our room and private balcony. The interior was a little over the top. And the "hot breakfast" was only server for a couple of hours in the morning.
We liked the location and the oldness of the hotel. The room view of the lake was splendid. The rooms were very small, and the bathrooms smell bad.
off season price -breakfast included.
Very nice atmosphere. Excellent location. Very courteous and professional service ----
Very comfortable rooms and lounge areas, though very ornate. Ideally situated for Lake Como and the cross lake ferry service with wonderful access to the lake side and the few shops wine bars etc. Especially attractive at night looking across the lake. The staff were very polite and helpful Wasn't very impressed with the evening meal but the breakfast buffet service was excellent with a very wide choice on offer and of good quality, run very efficiently for the size of the hotel which is huge.
we had a very nice room that was larger and much more elegant than we expected for the money - a cut above other rooms! breakfast was dreadful - not at all worth the money. orange jiuce wasn't juice, coffee came out of a self service machine and tasted horrible, hardly anything to eat - I would only recommend this hotel if you pay more for the lakeside view and larger room
What a wonderful hotel, in a beautiful location, the view from our balcony was breathtaking. The staff were helpful, we needed help with transport as we had no car and they helped arrange taxis and gave us directions and information on best places to visit. When we arrived and when we departed they transported us between the hotel and ferry port themselves. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there is a good snack menu available which kept us fed on several occasions. Drinks and snacks were not over priced as is the case in many hotels. The room (suite for 4) was very comfortable with two rooms and bathroom, safe, minibar, airconditioning, flatscreen tv with sky, and balcony overlooking the pool and panoramic views of lake como. We booked this hotel because we could not get a villa at late notice, i think that eas lucky for us, as this hotel was as good if not better than any villa. Because of the small number of rooms, it never felt busy, and a few evenings we were the only people sitting on the bar balcony overlooking the lake, paradise! Please note, if you do not have a car, this hotel is about two miles up into the hills above Tremezzo. Taxi fare is 15 to 20 euros down to the town or into mennagio.
The location, views and staff made our stay very comfortable. We had everything we needed to enjoy Lake Como Tiled floors throughout with no slippers
The hotel staff were welcoming and considerate for us during our honeymoon. The staff were well versed, new many languages and would do whatever it took to keep you happy. The pool was super, and the breakfasts were exceptional. Our bed was a combination of two singles and as a result the sleep at times was uncomfortable. The bed was firmer than I am accustomed to using.
Excellent hotel with an ideal location overlooking the Como lake. The hotel is owned by two twin sisters and their husbands who provide a family like atmosphere and are extremely freindly and helpful. The rooms and facilities are newly furnishend, very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended!!!
Very nice hotel with excellent views over Lake Como. Close to the Lake ferries and centrally located. Pleasant and enthusiastic staff. It's a steep hike up the hill from the Lake. Only microwave meals and snacks in the evening.
Great hotel and location as well as staff.
views and staff helpfulness
The staff/owners were amazing and friendly. Extremely clean, beautiful views.
the service of the staff, the cleanliness of the hotel and the views from the hotel. none
We found the staff to be consistently helpful and pleasant, and the breakfasts were very good indeed. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The view I thought this hotel was expensive and it was quite shabby. There is no outside space to relax and parking was difficult. No air conditioning or fridge. It was very noisy from the road and other guests.
The staff was very helpful in planning our daily itinerary to visit the Lake Como area including a side-trip to Lugano, Switzerland.
Genuinely lovely owners and staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. They were most helpful with advice and suggestions of places to see. This beautiful location is also close to buses and ferries.
Very nice and helpful staff. Everybody spoke English. Old hotel, but very clean and has amazing views of the lake. Also, has a nice little restaurant.
Very good service from the staff and the breakfast was good.
Family run Owners speak perfect English Overlooks lake with parking Restaurant closed Mondays
Great place to stay with reasonable rates. Staff is very personable and helpful in directing their guests to places of interest and dining.
The atmosphere from the time of welcome was caring. The Hotel was clean and a pleasure to stay in. The lakeside setting was idyllic. Not a thing.
The owners were fabulous and really helped personalize our stay. Their recommendations of sights to see and restaurants to go to made our visit exceptional. It truly enabled us to enjoy a very cultured experience.
We slept one night. Family hotel with excellent location on the lake. Room clean and large. Rooms with lake view can be a bit noisy because of the road between the hotel and the lake. Small parking place available. The beds are not very long...your feet might come out.
the vue the staff: poor reception, poor knowledge of english or french, not friendly. I would'nt recommend this hôtel
Convenient location close to lake transportation. Very small pool and poorly equipped (no towels/few lounge chairs), no car parking on site.
The view of the lake from the balcon The shower (it wasn't mobile, fixed on the wall) The air-condition didn't work.
Good breakfast, location very good Hotel room very small
Very cetral for Lake trips Had to rush meal and leave the restaurent at 9.30 pm.on first evening-did not have evening meal in restaurent thereafter.
close to ferry & bus stops, reception staff were helpful dining staff were glum, tired room decor, tiny pool compared to no. of guests, mattress needed replacing, broken sink, cigarette burn on bed cover.
very good location for different kinds of leisure on Como lake: easy to find, close to villa Carlotta, to ferry boat station. Standart room is normal, breakfast is good lake view rooms have road view as well, and not to easy to have asleep because of road noise. The same with noise isolation in rooms.
we booked this hotel but didn't actually stay there, they were over-booked and we got an upgrade to another hotel they own 800m down the road, Grand Hotel Cadenabbia, which was a 4-star hotel, with no extra charge, we enjoyed that. Excellent room, excellent hotel, we got a room with a beautiful terrace and the view was breath-taking!
Pool and sun terrace, breakfast choice good, near to resturants and ferry, view stunning, good value if on budget, try to get corner room with balcony view as you can get a good draft through the room with window and balcony open Noise from road , no air con,
Great location - beautiful views of the Lake and right on the main street with lots of great restaurants, shopping and attractions Breakfast - the buffet was large but looked dirtly and not well presented.
The staff were amazing- so friendly, so helpful and forthcoming with information on the area. Couldn't ask ask for a better location for a holiday on Lake Como with the room having an uninterrupted view over the lake. The dinners downstairs were amazing. Both nights we ate spectacular meals and could just wander upstairs afterwards.
Everything was perfect!
Whre had a perfect room right on the water. The staff was attentive and the dining room was also great. We want to return.
The hotel was perfect, small, beautifully located on Lake Como, a superb restaurant lake view restaurant, adjacent parking, very friendly staff, large comfortable rooms with an incredible view of the lake. Only the rainy weather kept our stay from being totally memorable, but even then it was still a special visit.
Everything, the staff, room, breakfast, and the restaurant was first class, we had a meal on our wedding anniversary at the restaurant over looking the lake, it was perfect. we wish we had eaten in the hotel restaurant more than we did as we went to a "touristy" restaurant that was expensive and the food was awful. only the position of our room .....it overlooked the main road to Como, so was a bt noisy. next time we will book a room with a lake view.
We have just returned from a fantastic honeymoon where we stayed at La Dersena. From the moment we arrived at the hotel to the moment we left we were made to feel so special. Without hesitation I would recommend staying here. Everything is just perfect. None
Excellent staff offering great service. Wonderful stay by the lakeside with breathtaking views.
Staff excellent, food good, room modern and well appointed. Lakeside rooms Ok. Roadside rooms - same quality but noisy. (like most hotels along the lake)
Good location for Ferry and Buses
A warm welcome. The staff were excellent throughout. Wonderful position. We want to go back.
Swimming pool not in use until June - big disappointment.
The location. The pool, friendly staff
Good location and excellent views The flooring in the rooms and corridors meant that sound carried into the rooms
The view and the cleanliness of the room The noise level at this hotel was absolutely unacceptable. From snoring neighbours, people with digestive problems talking very loudly in their sleep to screaming children at all hours of the day and night. Wooden floors and heavy doors and thin walls make it an impossible place for a sound nights sleep. Spoilt the end of our trip in Italy :-( Would not suggest this place to light sleepers.
The poolside room was lovely (big, great shower). The location on the hill away from the traffic was perfect. The staff had great tips on where to eat and helped us with planning our transport. The breakfast buffet was very basic for the price. Some fruit and eggs would help.
Family run hotel makes you feel at home. Very Clean, great view of Lake Komo.
Great staff and lovely views over Lake Como. Simply furnished but adequate rooms with comfortable beds The breakfast croissants had jam inside! Not too good, plain would be better
Helpful "manager". Local Trattoria. Wooden floors everywhere made it noisy. Could have done with new soap etc. during visit. First night had some noisy guests which when coupled with "echo"/door closures delayed sleep for a while. No previous reviews.
friendly, nice location, excellent wine selection pretty noisy in the morning
