Pros: Choice of homemade or local Jams. Apes and kiwis. Fresh natural Local yogurt- in own babyfood jars. Very nice. No eggs but so what. Nice croissants and a few brkfst cookies to choose from. Nice platter of ham and cheese and toast served to the table. Could have made sandwiches to takeaway for lunch but didnt. Stored our bags after checkout while we went hiking all day. Very pleasant and gelpful staff. Good choice
Cons: Nothing. All good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this place is amazing! The hotel is surrounded by the beautiful mountains, only a few minutes from Arenas town, also there is a big super market close by. The guy who runs the hotel is really nice and helpful. He showed me a lot of beautiful walks in the area, along with maps and direction. Dinners are very delicious, and at a good price. The complementary breakfast is one of the best I’ve had in all my travels. Rooms are spotless clean, mine had a bath tub, which was great after a long day of trekking in the mountains. My room also had a terrace with a beautiful view.
Cons: I have nothing negative to say. :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Located a little outside Las Arenas, it is walking distance although it's probably not a good idea to walk. Casa de Juansabeli is self-contained with a very good and reasonably priced restaurant, bar and cafe. It's a great location to be based for exploring Picos de Europa. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
Cons: Vegetarian options were limited and you had to ask especially for it. It was available and very good quality but it would be nice if it was featured on the main menu for the restaurant. Similarly the breakfast came with meat as standard, you had to ask to not receive it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff lovely, room v large with a sitting room area, bed v comfy. Lovely location- peaceful with mountain views. The best thing if all is the amazing food. 20€ for three course dinner and the food is outstanding- and a different menu every evening. Will definitely come back again next time we are walking in the Picos
Cons: A fridge and kettle would have been great in the room although I know it’s not standard in Spain.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very friendly helpful staff Excellent restaurant.
Cons: Due to hovering low cloud and rain , everywhere felt cold, (except the beds.) Unpleasant smell from bathrooms. Could have been fresher all round.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfecto! This and the small town of Las Arenas! This hotel was at the entrance to town and is tucked quietly away off the road. Beautiful interior. Wonderful bar and dining room. Breakfast was a welcome offering. Our suite was a bedroom, sitting room and bathroom. We could have stayed much longer than 2 nights. Ideal location. Close to the famous gorge trail in Picos de Europa. Close to the funicular. Price was excellent.
Cons: Nothing. Staff made us feel completely comfortable and at home.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The guys on the reception - helpful, friendly, calm people!
Cons: The woman (waitress) in the restaurant - pretty unkindly!
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The evening meal was outstanding and excellent value for money

Pros: The location and setting.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Situated in the mountains, this beautiful guest house has the most spectacular views you could wish for. The rooms are comfortable and luxurious, the breakfasts are amazingly good and the hosts could not be kinder.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything mentioned in the other reviews is true: magnificent location, great service, amazing breakfast, very friendly and helpful owners/staff. B&B is located in beautifully restored old house in tiny village with amazing views. Had great dinner prepared by Jhousy’s friends at the B&B to celebrate my birthday: it was fabulous. The other night we had dinner in the small local restaurant 50 m from B&B, they have very good menu el dia. Hike to Bulnes was very nice as well as visit to Sotres. If you want to experience something really special, this is the place to go!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views, clean and modern property, terrific hosts and some of the best breakfasts.
Cons: It’s not a negative about the property, I’m not the best with a manual transmission on narrow mountain roads. Rent a small car.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts, great views, great breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from Casa Maru is spectacular - sitting on the terrace, enjoying the beautiful breakfast spread prepared by our host and watching the mist rise in the valley below us was just fantastic. Jhousy's attention to detail was evident in the room set-up, the lovely breakfast, and in her helpful suggestions and conversations.
Cons: Driving up the final road to Casa Maru was pretty scary! But worth it for the view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The house is situated in a beautiful spot in Picos de Europa. Breakfast is divine, and the owners are genuine and helpful, making sure you get the best out of your stay in Camarmeña. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything at Casa Mary is fantastic and a 5 star experience. We stayed in the biggest room with the jacuzzi. The host, the house, the view etc. Especially the breakfast was outstanding. Each morning with different dishes and served at the table. Thanks for all the splendid recommendations for the Rioja area we got from the young girl, when we left. We tried a lot of them. “Luckily” the weather was rainy and we didn’t do Ruta de Cares. So we have to go back to Casa Maru soon. We can’t wait....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location to explore The Picos de Europa area. Great hosts and they make you the best breakfast ever!
Cons: Parking is a challenge on the narrow mountain street.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Supper friendly and helpful staff; Place is lovely and tastefully appointed; Breakfast is done according to our preferences (nutritional and healthy); Owner Jhousy recommended some good places to visit; Excellent excellent location for nature lovers!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is a very special place. The mountainous backdrop, the beautiful bedroom (with a jacuzzi bath) and the tasting-menu-style breakfasts are breathtaking, but the hosts, Alberto and Jhousy, make it most special as they welcome you into their home and their hearts. Alberto's English is fluent, the recommendations of walks, restaurants, swims and more are exceptional and the location for starting walks (funicular de Bulnes, ruta de Cares within 5 mins drive and good for early starts to avoid the crowds) and relaxing in the most awe-inspiring mountains is unforgettable. Be prepared for a slightly scary drive up and parking, but it's easy enough if you aren't a city wimp like me. What's more there is a stunning sidreria with delicious cider, award winning cabrales cheese and views of the Naranjo de Bulnes, as well as a fun local restaurant within 5 minutes walk of Casa Maru. Cannot recommend more highly.
Cons: My parking

Pros: It is a lovely place with an amazing view. The hosts are very friendly and they prepare a very good breakfast!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality of Jose was wonderful. This small guesthouse is located in the most beautiful mountain setting, fabulous views, morning mists in the valley below, and every farm animal conceivable within the hamlet. The donkeys with bells, cows, chickens, horses, birds, cats and dogs were so much part of this little village. Jose cooked delicious breakfasts, and kept us cosy by the fire in the living room after a days walk in the Picos De Europa. Excellent internet/WIFI by the way.
Cons: Everything was wonderful....
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was stunning, quiet - a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle. The venue was 10/10 for character, interest, cleanliness and facilities. The downstairs living area including the snug was cosy, nice to relax and read. The owner, Jose, was friendly, informative and catered for our every need.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast in the mornings was fantastic! There was usually an egg dish, pastries, bread, orange juice, and coffee/tea. Delicious!
Cons: The parking was hard to figure out at first since the roads are narrow and mostly unpaved right around the inn. It would have helped to receive an email depicting the possible parking areas prior to arrival.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely helpful owner, great location, beautiful rural setting.
Cons: Lukewarm coffee on first morning but otherwise all the food was excellent - Jose is a very good cook!

Pros: Clean very nice room. Very good bathroom with shiwrt

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stunning location in the Cares River valley. We drove to Cain itself, but be warned the road is very narrow (only wide enough for one vehicle at a time) and with lots of blind bends as it follows the Cares gorge from Posada del Valdeon. Most people start the Cares Trail in Poncebos to the north but we wanted to do it differently! The accomodation was excellent, very comfortable room with a great shower and impressive automatic skylight. The evening meal (el menú del dia) was great value for 12 euros. The thing that really made our stay fantastic was our host (Ramiro), he was so helpful and friendly! We will come back and probably next time we will start the Cares Trail in Poncebos and overnight in Cain at Hostal Casa Tino again. Thanks Ramiro for making our stay great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms are new and well equipped. The food was very good and the prices cheap.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very clean modern rooms. Outstanding service from the owner. A great location for the Cares Gorge hike.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location, the warm hospitality and how clean the room was. This is a very nice place to stay if you want to do the Cares “senda”. Ramiro is a perfect host, he goes out of his way to be helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner was so nice and extra accommodating for me. I am vegan, and he made me a special dinner that fit my dietary lifestyle. He also know I had been backpacking with only a few clothes and offered to wash my dirty ones for free. I have never felt more welcomed at a hotel in my life!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, view to die for, host was great, really helpful and the breakfast 10/10. So much to see and do here, you really need longer to explore. The walking is the best, mountains just outside your window.
Cons: Only a small town and a lack of eatery's, especially as we were just out of season, you need to drive to find food. Especially as we are veggie's, local bar was good for take away bocadillos etc. Other restaurant that was semi-open, we would not recommend. Name ended in an a .....
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Fridge probably needs replacing soon!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very cosy and nice, with an amazing view over the mountains and surrounding by green and mountains. It is a tradicional house, very beautiful and comfortable, with a wonderful closed balcony overlooking the mountains. The rooms are small but very pleasant. The bathroom was modern with a very good shower. The hotel is surrounded by a garden with tables and chairs. The hotel also has nice bungalows (I stayed in a room in the main house). The breakfast is excellent, serving very good products. The hotel has a bar that offers excellent beer, gin and other drinks the whole day.

9.5 Excellent

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Beautiful location, accommodating and friendly staff, we met some great people. Best hostel we've ever stayed. Was very clean and we felt safe.
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very new and spotless with comfortable bunk beds and secure lockers. Good shower and simple breakfast make this fantastic value.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: This is an Albergue (which is spanish for Youth Hostel), and a well run one at that, but it is not a hotel. The sleeping is in bunk beds with up to ten people in a room. There is only one shower, toilet for each room that can make for a bottle neck in the AM. Like most places in Spain, breakfast is coffee and toast or coffee cake. Not a lot of protein. That said, Bulnes is a spectacular setting, and well worth visiting for a couple of nights with a hike into the heart of the Eastern Picos de Europa. For the young and rugged there is a steep ascent to a refugio followed by one of several possible descents that makes for an exhausting day. For the older and less rugged there is a more gentle valley taking one into similar unforgettable terrain. Two nights there is all you need.
Cons: It's always a challenge to get a good night's sleep with 9 other people snoring or getting up to use the toilet during the night. But hey, that is what you sign up for with an Albergue.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: it is amongst a small group of houses, very quiet , except for the sound of the river, and the cows with their bells that wake you up at dawn.
Cons: room did not have a view of the beautiful valley
7.5 Good
Pros: simple hostel without much comfort. Friendly and cosy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A wonderful hostel in a wonderful location. Adolfo the owner, who is super friendly, keeps it in tip top shape. He also cooks great, filling suppers. A perfect spot to launch hikes into the mountains. One of the best experiences I had on my trip.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Decent mountain refuge in an excellent location.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The location is really good if you want to go hiking and enjoy the mountains. The owner put a lot of effort into it. Everything was clean and really modern.
Cons: Kitchen is only open for one hour and there isn‘t a common area. The owner just speaks spanish. One shower and one toilet is a little bit to less for 10 people.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is a small hostel in a tiny village without anything open after 20. Order the food in advance if you want to eat. For the price this place is hard to beat. The staff (Adolpho) was very helpful and nice, he seems to do everything himself.

If you stay make sure you have dinner in the hotel because the food is incredible!! Location is perfect for hiking in the area and all of the surroundings are beautiful.
Cons: Everything was fabulous.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything, but we shouldn’t say that, because then more people will go there and it could spoil it! The walking in the Picos was superb and the hotel was just great. The roads in and out are really narrow, steep and windy. The staff and local people are very helpful and friendly. The food is delicious.
Cons: Can’t think of anything.

Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I can't say enough good things about this outstanding family run hotel. The rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. There's a garden patio with a fabulous view that's perfect for relaxing after a hike in the mountains. The food was exceptional. We hadn't planned to eat there every evening but changed our mind after the first day. The vegetarian meals were excellent. What really sets this hotel apart is the people. The owners are warm and welcoming and go out of their way to help meet the needs of their guests. They know the area well and gave us detailed information about hiking trails. Their staff is friendly, helpful and respectful. The location is great for exploring the Picos de Europa. Our stay here was a highlight of our trip.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff with excellent local knowledge of Picos hiking.Excellent facilities and food
Cons: Quirky new bathroom furnishings
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location was wonderful and the owners and staff friendly and helpful. Our room didn't have a view, but the dinning/breakfast room did, and so did the outdoor patio/bar area. Also the grounds were beautiful. The breakfast was excellent (included in the room price), and the dinner, which was extra, was exceptional and of a quality that I would expect in a much fancier place. This hotel was a good value for our money.
Cons: Our room was basic and a little dark, but clean. We lost power for about an hour in the evening, but the owners were right on top of it, and it got fixed fairly quickly.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This is a very small and cosy, rural hotel. We had a spectatular view to the mountains from our window. There is a restaurant in which breakfast and dinner are served. Breakfast was delicious. There was a wide variety of dishes, drinks and fruit. Everyone could find something to eat. In the evening it was possible to have something for dinner, even some easy things which were not included in the menu. When we arrived the kitchen was already closed, but as we were very hungry they made us something to eat. There is also a small bar, in which you can buy wine, bier and other drinks for reasonable prices. The staff speak English. There is a lot of parking space. There is a small garden in which you can sit and relax. We really liked our stay there and as we continued our trip to other towns, we thought that the best place to stay was Torrecerredo :)
Cons: The road which leads to the hotel is very, very narrow (for one car only), with steep slopes, so it is hard to pull over. We were lucky that we didn't meet anybody on this road. However, it is only 200 meters, so do not panic :) It was generally clean, but the hotel would need some renovation. The quilt that we were given was dirty, so we slept only under bed sheets which were clean. It was not a problem, because it was hot.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great spot just out of the village
Cons: Nothing

8.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for two nights a few weeks ago to walk the Cares Trail. The location is great and it is a good value for the money. It was exactly what we were looking for. We didn't eat at the hotel but there were some great restaurants nearby. I would stay here again.
Cons: This is no big deal and it wouldn't stop me from staying here again. Our room faced the street so there was some road noise at night. You can solve this by shutting the window, but there's not a/c. So we chose to hear a little road noise and get some air circulation.

Apartamentos El Ardinal - Las Arenas - Building
18
9.0 Excellent (43 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Cabrales, Apartamentos El Ardinal is a 2-minute drive from Cueva el Cares and 8 minutes from Cares Trail. The front desk is staffed during limited hours.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location was very good and offered great views of the surrounding mountains Apartment was clean, tidy and quiet We only saw our hostess at book-in so it's difficult to give feedback about how the staff were.
Cons: We came at the wrong time of the year. Missed good weather by days. As a result the temperature was around 2 degrees or less. The apartment heating was not adequate to cope with such temperatures nor was it left on all the time (the owner has control of the oil heating system). As a result we decided to leave a day early from Arenas and travel to our next location. Another factor which wasn't in the owners control was the indifferent attitude to tourists some townsfolk had - amazing. I haven't experienced such rudeness anywhere else in Spain
5.8 Okay
Pros: Clean and close to the town center.
Cons: The host was in a mad rush so she offered no introduction to the area and we hardly had a chance to ask her any questions. She certainly didn't make us feel like "guests." Perhaps this is not typical. The apartment itself was functional, but not cozy and somewhat chilly at night. The wifi connection was poor. It's a short walk to town, but I'm not sure what there is to do in town other than shop for cheese and sausage. The cabrales blue cheese is deservedly famous. The packaged sausage was disappointing. Our Picos de Europa hikes were outstanding (I recommend a walking stick if like me you are not particularly sure-footed).
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The views were incredible, the location was perfect and the bed was really comfy.
Cons: It's a tiny thing, but a proper chopping board and a wooden spoon would have been nice
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely host and apartment. I’d stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and comfortable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Blanca was very helpful and accomodating of our late arrival. The surrounding scenery is beautiful.
Cons: I think the photos online are slightly misleading as we assumed all flats had a terrace with a bench on where we could sit out and eat. There were views from our front door and all around but no table to sit out at. We put chairs outside our door as a solution, but it wasn't quite as we had imagined. Everything else was faultless.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge very comfy bed. Excellent shower - easy to operate and regulate flow rate and water temperature . Shelf in shower cabinet for shower gel, shampoo etc - so many hotels/apartments don't provide this. Very quiet location, about 6 minutes walk from village centre. Superb views.
Cons: Lighting in living area rather dim - needed to use head-torch to read / consult maps.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location, well organised apartment.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Location is excellent, just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Las Arenas. It's up a hill but it wasn't too bad to walk up (even with our 8 month old in the baby carrier). Views are great. Small kitchen was well equipped inc washing machine and clothes horse. Beds comfy and a cot was provided for our baby. Free parking. Host very friendly.
Cons: WiFi didn't work for the duration of our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were self catering and found the kitchen very well equipped. Also it was all spotlessly clean and serviced every day. The host was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Nothing

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were wonderfully friendly and really made us feel at home after a long trek in the Picos. Absolutely fantastic hospitality. It is in a great location just a few metres from the funicular, the walk up to Bulnes or the Cares gorge walk. We had a balcony with views over the river and up to the mountains.
6.8 Good
Pros: Great location. Basic place - td expensive for what it is but it was peak season July
Cons: AC in rooms
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owner is very passionate, and the house is spacy and very good located. If you communicate upfront, they also can try to block a parking space which is very helpful as the street is tiny and the masses of hiking people tremendous... we also enjoyed the fact that our dog could enter and the dinner was much better quality than on the one (garganta) 5meter besides the hotel...
Cons: The room was quite old but clean, the light of the latern at night was bit disturbing but ok...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel was located right next to the beginning of the hike to Bulnes. The rooms were clean. Staff was very friendly and the breakfast was a good value for money.
Cons: Didn't have an elevator. You could hear the noise through the walls if the room.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great owner. Fantastic location.
Cons: Beds too soft
