Pros: In addition to this hotel having exceptional staff, restaurants, and luxury rooms, it is an 11th century converted exceptionally well preserved Spanish monastery! So it is stunning! In addition, it offers massage services, which I desperately needed and for which I am forever grateful to this hotel for offering this great service! Overall, an amazing, one-of-a-kind experience!
Cons: There was nothing that I did not like about this hotel. It truly is a gem of a place! A well-kept secret, really. Even the bar areas, indoor and outdoor, were excellent!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful and historically interesting site and building on the Camino de Compostela. Lovely room and out look on to the cloisters of the old monastery. Good restaurant onsite as well as a cafe bar. Enjoyed our stay.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The main attraction about this hotel has to be the fact that it is housed in a monastery. The walk around the internal cloister is stunning with some views (through glass panels) down into the chapel. It has some nice grounds and, if you wanted, you could sit outside with a drink. Its located right on the edge of a small town that I imagine was quite a spiritual centre at one point in its history.
Cons: It had many plusses but the place was basically one of those slightly old-fashioned hotels, a bit standardised - but efficient. Not a huge amount of English spoken by staff - which is fair enough.

Cons: Nothing.

Cons: Nothing! We had a great time !
6.3 Good
Pros: Location right on the Camino. Room had a private bathroom
Cons: Very tired room with a strange half window! Needs painting, finishing off & more attention to cleaning. Staff member that checked us in had little or no interest in us. The young girl who did the evening food was brilliant but to expect her to take orders, pour drinks, cook, waitress & clear up for 10 or more people by herself was ridiculous! Get more staff in as the 10 plus customers she had to turn away would have more than covered it!!
9.3 Excellent
Cons: Bed is uncomfortable

Cons: Only one toilet and one shower for the whole place. Bathroom door lock was ineffective so people walked in on you.

Pros: Excellent location for camino, great food and staff were amazingly helpful when we had a problem with finding a place to stay the following day at next location, when we found out that our next hotel was closed. Owner helped at every time asked. For a coffee at breakfast to arranging special evening meal of suckling lamb. Great place.

Pros: Friendly service and warm welcome and owner gives great food service. Lovely accommodations.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The loveliest staff! I was a bit ill in the Camino and the staff really helped me, and took care of me. Even tough there isn't much in Calzadilla, the hostal was definitely worth the stay.
7.0 Good
Pros: The food at the bar and dinner was decent. The property is in a very small village so it is right on the Camino.
Cons: My room was above and around the reception area and was very noisy. It was also dark and shabby.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We liked the very friendly welcome we received, even though they were very busy. We had also asked in advance for particular type of room and they gave us one that worked perfectly. Rooms are larger than some we’ve stayed in on the Camino. Restaurant staff were also very kind and helpful.
Cons: Beds and linens are older, but comfortable enough. It’s a very lively place so we were afraid it was going to be noisy but it was very quiet at night, even with our window open. The only things we didn’t like are are very small details - the very thin/cheap shower curtains that stick to you when you’re in the shower, and the fact that they don’t put drinking glasses in the rooms. Two easily remedied tiny issues.

Pros: We loved the character of this restored historic property, as well as the clean, modern touches that make it a warm and comfortable stop on the Camino. The owners are warm and welcoming. Our room had everything we needed - good beds, great shower and it was wonderfully quiet at night. The pilgrim dinner was also a lot of fun with people from around the world.
Cons: There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean towels thay aren't quick dry and bath. It was a warm and clean space. If I wanted some space or a rest day, this would be a good place. The cafe just up the road was good too.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: A good stop-off point after an evening arrival on a Santander/Bilbao ferry. Only a couple of hours drive from the northern ports. A clean, well-appointed room.
Cons: Minimal English spoken by hosts. Very little choice on the menu but what was available was well-prepared. A disturbed night thanks to a dog barking in the neighbourhood.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was nice and cosy in the middle of the village, the room was nice withouth luxury.
Cons: Maybe the breakfast could have been a bit better
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent host, lovely traditional decoration and good food!
7.5 Good
Pros: Hotel easy to find on route from Santander. Typical Spanish decor. We arrived later than expected but were still able to order food in restaurant. Good overnight stop off.
Cons: Unfortunately there was a local party or mighty very nearby so music playing till early hours, but this not really hotels fault!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The regular staff, particularly the lady in the kitchen and the dining room, were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was exceptional. The food was good and plenty. The hotel is very well appointed with arts and historic elements.
Cons: Hotel closed on arrival. Had to wait and call for someone to show up. Kids in charge of the hotel in the afternoon, not serious.
5.0 Okay
Pros: We managed to stay awake until 9pm and had a meal in the hotel restaurant. It was very good, 3 courses including a good steak and half bottle of wine for 16 Euros. Breakfast was ok too.
Cons: The location, felt a bit strange, nothing open until around 6pm, didn't see any women and the men stared, felt a bit uncomfortable. Afte a long non stop drive all we wanted to do was eat and rest up, but none of the restaurants in town or in the hotel opened until 9pm. The room felt dirty, I don't think it was, just everything was brown, even the paintings on the walls.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The food in restaurant comfortable bed
6.8 Good
Pros: I stayed here 6 years previously. Good stop, off point when aiming for a ferry back to UK. The town has nothing going for it at all. 4 of 7 bars/cafes in town centre closed.
Cons: Confirmation email from booking.com stated check in from 12:00. I arrived at approx 14:30 & hotel closed. Rang direct contact number & established would only be open for bookings at 17:00. Then when booked in that restaurant only open from 21:00. Whilst I appreciate that this is the normal time for Spain when you add this to the issues with all the closed bars in the town then for a lone traveller it's a long wait. Had I known the correct booking in time I could have used a different route & called to sight see on the way to the hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Open fire. Excellent meal, tasty and good value. Staff friendly.
Cons: Confusion over booking, they said we should have turned up day before!
