Pros: Everything was perfect. The breakfast is an excellent deal. We even bought honey that was made by his neighbor. Alain was kind and welcoming despite the hospitalisation of Sylvie. He didn't want to cancel our reservation because we booked many months ago and it was our third time to stay. We wish Slyvie good recovery and hope to see them again next year.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts Annie and Jean-Michel are beautiful people. We were traveling with our parents who were visiting from India and wanted rooms with no stairs. Annie was really kind to accommodate our needs. We had two rooms in the B&B. The rooms were spacious, equipped with all amenities. Our room was like a duplex had a living room area and the bedroom was upstairs. The breakfast had fresh bread, croissants, meats, cheese, jams, coffee, yogurts. It was sumptuous. We were stuffed. I really wanted to stay in Gites property and a remote village. Chateauneuf en auxios is a stunning village. It has a population of 85-100 people. We were greeted by Annie who showed us around. We chatted for a while and talked about their travels. Annie speaks english and is very sweet. She made recommendations for dinner and we made reservations at L’oree du bois. We lucked out as the restaurant was fully booked for the night. The food was delicious and the hosts were super kind. Loved the fact that everyone was very nice, kind and generous. That made our stay memorable. Thank you again to Annie and Jean-Michel for making our stay so special. We will come back soon.

Pros: We liked everything. The hosts are discreet, greatful and heartwarming! Strongly recommend to stay there. The design and atmosphere in the room are extremely unique and unrepeatable!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Chez Annie et Jean-Michel Bagatelle was a great and unexpected experience. It is a very small town so everything was within walking distance. We were able to park just above the location with Jean-Michel welcoming us warmly and helping us park and carry our bags to our room. It is a beautiful place of old stone houses and panoramic views over the countryside dominated by the château-fort, well-illuminated at night. A beautifully romantic setting! The room was very comfortable with an old fireplace and breakfast in the main house was copious with many servings and warm exchanges with other guests and the owners. Châteauneuf-en-Auxois was a magical place and it is worth any detour !
Cons: Absolutely nothing ! More sunshine and no rain would have been nice !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We will definitely stay here again! Wonderful host, exceptional location, great breakfast! Friendly advice about restaurants and scenery. We had a great time. They provided us with wine glasses, offered to keep our wine cool, even gave us an ice bucket. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Everything was superb!

Pros: We loved everything about our stay here. From the minute we walked into the door, we were exposed to the magic of this place. We enjoyed cocktails by the fire, a round of billiards, and a delightful meal in the restaurant. The beds were also comfortable!
Cons: The only “negative” we can offer is that the hot water in the bath / shower was very limited and we were each in need of a HOT shower after walking around outdoors in the cold.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic old chateau renovated with taste and in harmony with the original style of the chateau, with a billiard room and a nice bar. The director is very sympathetic and takes the time to chat with you and make you feel welcomed.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. It was one of the most beautiful places we've stayed....and we've stayed in many. The staff were very personable and attentive. The Michelin Star restaurant where we ate, was superb. Such incredible food. The service was exceptional in the restaurant. The Abbaye itself is a very beautiful building. It has a lovely approach with stunning grounds and the setting is a delight. We literally were stopping overnight so we didn't have that much time to look around and use all the facilities available to us. The decor in the Abbaye has been thoughtfully and tastefully appointed. The attention to detail is appropriate and a delight to enjoy. Breakfast was a superb array and plentiful. The bedroom had lovely views. It was very peaceful and we didn't hear any fellow guests. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was well presented with everything you would need. Thankyou - we had a lovely stay.
Cons: That we couldn't stay longer!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was our second visit, this time as a couple rather than with our children, but just as wonderful a stay as last time. The setting is beautifully tranquil, the building is full of character and wonderfully decorated, and the food is out of this world. Capped by fantastically friendly staff throughout. We’ve only used this as a stop off en route back to the UK from Italy but we’re going to make it a destination for holiday in future. I would add that when we arrived the weather was very hot and the air con failed in our room in the thunderstorm. However the hotel quickly offered to change our room to an upgraded room with wonderfully chilled air con. Could not have asked for more.
Cons: Nothing at all
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent dinner. Service above and beyond re potential item left behind (which was not ours). Great grounds.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Super hosts, really friendly and welcoming. Great location, easy to get there.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location is wonderful...right off the interstate and 10 minutes to Chateauneuf..peaceful quiet village.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A unique experience of staying in an authentic Burgundian village surrounded by nature (bats flying around the building in the evening, tawny owls hooting nearby). The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, providing us with a lot of information on the region. The location is perfect for sightseeing Burgundy, with easy access to the intersection of highways. All the main attractions (Dijon, Beaune, Autun, Semur-en-Auxois, Avallon + Vezelay) can be reached in 30-40 minutes, and some interesting castles (Chateauneuf, Sully, Commarin) are even closer. The apartment was big and had well-equipped kitchen, which was highly suitable for self-catering. Wife worked well.
Cons: The apartment is located directly under the roof, so it may be a bit unconfortable in hot summer days – fortunately except for the arrival day the weather was relatively cool during our stay. Apart from this, mosquito nets are needed so as to keep the insects away from the apartment (there were no mosquitos, but midges were a problem on one evening). The cleanliness was not perfect, but this is understandable as the house is old.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect for travelling across france.
Cons: Everything was great
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly approach, hospitable hostess, domestic atmosphere.
Cons: Difficult to find if you don't have GPS or smartphone (like me with an oldfashioned Nokia).
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was excellent! Wonderful coffee!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly people
Hostellerie Du Chateau - Pouilly-en-Auxois - Building
12
7.9 Good (261 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Hostellerie du Chateau sits in the fortified town of Chateauneuf, a beautiful medieval town in the Bourgogne region. Its rooms are individually decorated and can accommodate from 2 to 4 people. All of the rooms have an en suite bath or shower and flat-screen TV. Some rooms look out over the garden with its terrace and the surrounding area. The restaurant at the Hostellerie du Chateau serves local and traditional specialties for lunch and dinner. A daily breakfast is also available.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: Very hot, stuffy room, no air conditioning
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: the breakfast with a large choice of viennoiseries and all sorts of breakfast, from charcuterie and cheese to basic cereal cheered me up on morning.
Cons: the bathtub was very old and filthy with some hair from the previous customer. The old carpet all over the room is outdated, probably a vestige of 70's, same for the wall paper, my parents were having the same one during the 90's. A light bulb was missing, probably to help hiding the misery of the room, the 2 stools nearby the bed were all stained and mucky . They have a nice bed cover to hide a terribly ugly and shabby woollen blanket. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbours whispering...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent steak and location!
Cons: Nothing
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautifully located and is good, clean and up to date.
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s in a great location next to the castle of this wonderful small preserved medieval village. The property has been recently renovated, very clean and comfortable. Excellent staff. We took breakfast there too, in the veranda with a view of the castle!

Pros: Simple. Breakfast and bar was as expected.
Cons: Waited a while for checkin because staff were very busy in the bar
7.5 Good
Pros: Comfy bed, good location
Cons: Bar and restaurant closed on Wednesday
4.2 Okay
Pros: - close to the exit of the highway in the road to Paris from South
Cons: - no staff for check in even if arrived during the opening hours. - no staff for checkout even if specified leaving early - bathroom dirty (hairs or whatever was it) - beds dirty (hairs or whatever was it)
5.4 Okay
Pros: Not quite one star - it was at least clean. Breakfast was OK, but at €9,50, was more expensive than we would have expected.
Cons: However, the room smelt of smoke and even after leaving the window open for 3 hours, when we returned after dinner, the smell of smoke had returned. The plugs in the sink and the bath did not work at all, so a bath was out of the question. The shower attachment, when fixed in position on the wall, flooded the bathroom, there were tiles loose, the loo did not flush properly and the curtain in the bedroom did not block out the light. When we arrived, there was no-one on reception but the key had been left out for us. This meant that we could not leave our bikes in a secure location, as had been planned. There was also no-one there later. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel until they upgrade the accommodation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Already friendly and nice people. Early breakfast is possible. This helped me a lot. Nice food in restaurant
Cons: Nothing special
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Large family room, comfortable mattress, very well located (5 min from highway), calm, super friendly staff, clean rooms, very tasty breakfast. All-in-all very good value for money!
Cons: The room decoration is a little outdated but the restaurant has a nice rustic style.
6.3 Good
Pros: Close to highway
Cons: Too much noise

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing as we had a bad experience.
Cons: Very dirty, door handle was broken and couldn't enter the room therefore spending the night in the car in the carpark as no staff were available. Looking at the reviews my wife and I realised this hotel door handle was broken more than a year ago and is still not fix. Weren't after much just entry into the room with a bed and shower. Strange smell and food on walls.
4.2 Okay
Pros: Convenient for motorway
Cons: No one on reception. Cleaner very kindly helped us check in. No air con. Had to have window open as very hot so could hear traffic all night from the motorway. Cats everywhere. Even lying on the table in breakfast room, hence we didn’t take breakfast there. You get what you pay for but this hotel is budget for very good reasons.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Everything fine...good bed...nice shower...comfortable.parking
Cons: Nothing wrong...very simple structure. Budget hotel...no staff at all...
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location close to both motorway and nice village for those who have time for some sightseeing.

Pros: All was fine
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a very quit and peaceful location. The hotel is small and cosy.
6.3 Good
Pros: A most relaxing and comfortable hotel. Fire places were great and common areas and bedrooms really well decorated and quiet. Staff friendly. Good location to many little village and Beaune by car.
Cons: Our bedroom and bathroom floors had grit on them and needed to be cleaned better. For such a lovely place with wonderful appointments we felt the girls at the front desk a little unprofessional in manner and dress
7.0 Good
Pros: We loved the location, people, and ease of hospitality
Cons: Next time we would ask for a room facing the valley
5.7 Okay
Pros: The owners are very nice hosts. We only had a cheese diner on Sunday night but it was super. Nice location and downstair rooms like library and restaurant are lovely.
Cons: Our hotelroom was not very clean and really needs some upgrading, just like the bathroom. 'The property is more like a mansion than a chateau. It's a pity that the couches in the library are full of dog hair, so it can't be used by guests.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A truly beautiful house/mini-chateau, beautifully cared for by Marco and Tobias - truly wonderful hosts! The Enchanted Room was truly that with the most comfortable bed on our travels. Wonderful views and located in a sweet village, handy for the wine areas and Beaune. The public areas were so comfortable and relaxing too. Tobias and Marco were a great source of local information - nothing was too much trouble. Great to see that there was no TV in the bedroom - such a brave but oh so right decision! Although we didn't experience it ourselves, we believe their dinner nights are fabulous! Can't recommend this highly enough!
Cons: Bathrobes please! Even if it only in the deluxe rooms!
7.6 Good
Pros: very charming place. Highly recommended.
Cons:
