Pros: The car was clean, easy to drive, and gave us no problems. The staff understood the rental policies very well and they and gave us a couple very helpful hints to save us from getting dinged with more charges. Take pictures of the car at pick up and fill up the tank before drop off.Cons: Purchasing insurance on Kayak ins't recognized by Sixt. There were several nickel and dime charges on top of not purchasing insurance thru Sixt. Our rental ended up being about twice what it was on Kayak. Be sure to take photos of the car at pick up. It came in handy at drop off.

Cons: I didn't realize purchasing insurance at the time of making the reservation would be non-refundable if I cancelled my reservation. That should be printed in large text prior to simply adding it onto the rental. If it can be added after the reservation is made, it should be refundable if cancelled.

Pros: It was a clean car that drove well.Cons: We had purchased car insurance through Allianz that we were referred to on the Kayak site. Sixt did not honor the insurance and the amount of our rental skyrocketed and was many times the amount quoted on the site and for which we agreed to when we booked the car due to there saying we had to have their insurance and Allianz wouldn't be accepted. So we were out the amount we paid for Allianz and the additional amount for the car. We feel we should be compensated!!

TerriblePros: NothingCons: Horrible drop off experience. Crowded office, no signs. Spent 45 minutes in crowded office only to be told drop off was 300m down the road. Dropped off car and then was told to head back to main office 300m away saying they needed to remove a hold on my account. Spent another 30 minutes before one girl behind the desk said here colleague misspoke and I did not need to wait there. No coordination, lots of confusion, will never ever rent from Sixt again in Croatia. Especially in Split. Avoid Sixt in Split at all costs!

Pros: The car was easy to drive and clean. Drop-off crew was friendly. Great gas mileage on the car.Cons: We paid for a GPS system which we couldn't use due to the language setting not functioning properly. We adjusted the language setting to English, but it continued to be in German and we couldn't understand or use the system. It caused a LOT of stress and problems for us, and when we told SIXT about the issue upon arriving to drop off the car, they didn't care at all. We paid for a feature we couldn't use by no fault of our own and I was disappointed in their lack of attention to our concerns and frustration. I am also disappointed in the fact that I bought the suggested insurance on the SIXT website only to be told that it didn't really provide any "real" coverage according to our customer service representative and she really insisted that we had no coverage all and needed to purchase this other insurance in addition to the one we already had. Why not offer this "real" or "all inclusive" insurance on the website when you're confirming the rental of the car instead of at the rental shop? It was a dubious move on their part and I was extremely frustrated that I implemented all suggestions prior to pick up, and then when it came time to get the car, suddenly it just wasn't enough coverage. Very questionable, but you're in a vulnerable position at that point...what can you really do?

Pros: Nice car, pick-up went well.Cons: I was surprised by extra charges added to my rental without my knowledge. This included VAT and a daily charge for me driving a few minutes through Serbia on my way to Dubrovnik and back. Also, gas tank was not full (it was 7/8 full), but I had to bring it back full.

They didn't have my car and tried to up charge mePros: Car was what I've come to expect from a rental company.Cons: They supposedly gave away my car and tried to up charge me to get a different car. Terrible customer service. A man named Crjnac Matars was the individual with whom I interacted. He claimed to be the manager but simply shrugged when I expressed my displeasure.

Good option for car rental in SplitPros: Rental office was centrally located. I was able to secure an automatic car. Staff were pleasant and helpful and handled my rental quickly and smoothly.Cons: The car park lot was rather far away (400 m) -- which was frustrating because we had a lot of baggage. Also, I booked rental insurance online (at the same time and on the same site I booked the car) but apparently it wasn't done through the actual rental agency, which I was not made aware of beforehand. So the rental agency but a huge pre-authorization/hold on my credit card.
