Scheduled pick up for 5 am. Had to wait until 6 for someone to come in and tell me the car wasn’t going to be ready until 8 because they had to clean it. Never again

They demanded $1,500 cash deposit at the counter + $600 for insurance even though we had already purchased full coverage insurance for the rental. We had to walk away and loose the money we spent on the rental ahead of time. It was a bad experience.

If I could I would give them -5 star!! When I went to pick up the car they said they didn’t have the car that I had reserved also they wanted me to charge another insurance if they give me another car! (I really need it a 7 passenger vehicle since we were 4 and had a lot of baggage 😡) I had to go to another company to look for what ever 7 passenger vehicle they had. Really really upsetting experience for me.

I looked into my rental months in advance. When I arrived in El Salvador I was told I couldn’t use the insurance that I paid for and that I would need to pay for a different insurance they require in order to rent the car. Very frustrating! Then they said I needed to put a 2000 dollar deposit, the alternative was to rent a vehicle that was twice as quoted. This was the second time this has happened to us. With a 2000 deposit and a 1200 rental for 1 week I’m better off just buying a car and selling it for a slightly less of a loss when I leave in 1 week! Horrible experience!

Surprised charges, car was damaged and had bad axels. Lots of noise was being made when driving. It rained a couple times during our trip and the car’s windshield wipers were old and obstructed our view while driving when we tried wiping. We thought we were going to get into a major accident. When there was dirt on the windshield and tried wiping it clean there was no water put in the car. We actually had to throw water from our water bottles to help us clean the windshield. It was an overall dangerous experience. I would not rent again.

Car deposits are not supposed to be high. $900 in the beginning!!!!! no wonder people get angry about it. I was too ...to be honest I was double charged deposit so I couldn't buy ANYTHING on my trip but stay home and do errands for my family 🤬

They pulled some tricks that I don’t appreciate. First, they didn’t have the car category I booked. Unprofessional, but turned out to be not a big deal. Then, they didn’t accept the third party Kayak RentalCover coverage, so I had to pay twice as much to get their coverage. Last, they made me place a credit card hold of over $1000. This is unheard of. If I didn’t buy their insurance and stuck with my third party, it would have been an hold of *over $10,000.* Yes, seriously. The car ran well, was clean, and otherwise check-in and check out was fine. I will not be using Europcar again.

I was told I HAVE to get the premium insurance otherwise my deposit would be $26,000!!The receptionist kept on showing us in Spanish, I asked to have it shown in English, she did. And I was able to select no insurance, but it needed managers passcode. So I clicked back, and selected the lowest coverage and it was allowing me to choose how much deposit, $5000! At the return, they charged me $0.01 to release my deposit, which still has not been release. The car itself was comfortable, the people on the other hand, I feel they are shady.
