Good- just what you'd expect from a car rental.Pros: Super easy to get to/from the airport from the car rental. Friendly guy who spoke great English behind the desk. The car was clean and new, no issues. They even let us take it back after we had dropped it off because we forgot to get gas.
The WORST car rental EVER, hands down!Pros: The car got me where I needed and wanted to go on a mechanical level. On every other possible level this rental was a disaster and I honestly cannot believe that is the quality of service that Hertz delivers in Sweden. Never again!Cons: False advertising, including misrepresentation of location of Hertz facility and rates quoted vs. charged. Zero customer service: literally, from the time I arrived in Sweden and spoke to a incredibly cold and unprofessional Hertz representative on the phone as I sought help in locating the car to the long walk I had to make in an industrial area with no lighting (I am a 64 year old woman traveling alone) to the empty customer service desk greeting me upon arrival to multiple unexpected charges that I could not decline without cancelling my entire contract to the broken GPS that sent me a total of 3'hjureniutnof my way, to same treatment returning the car.... I travel constantly and I have NEVER had such a bad experience with a major brand like Hertz, which I have relied upon in the past for excellence in service and reliability. I am a mediator, and this experience reminded me of why litigious people are so quick to make a claim against a big corporation: there were real damages here. But because I am a mediator I also know that this could have been solved multiple times along the way at almost no cost to Hertz. I won't be contacting you again on this matter, but really: you need to fix this or lose your brand value in Sweden, where there is real competition for the business.

Expect at least an hour to pick upPros: Lots of people staffedCons: Location isn't convenient for pick up. Takes at least an hour to pick up.

Hard to change cars and find peopleCons: The window was broken, there were scratches everywhere that was not documented. We were not charged at the end but spent many hours finding someone to look over the car (it was automated service where the keys were just dropped off with us) They gave us an electric car, which we didn't want. They said they tried to call us but because international number, could not reach. They could have emailed us. All in all, we spent about 4 hours figuring out how to change cars and report the scratches. In addition, dropping off the car at Oslo airport was not clear at what location they were.

ExcellentPros: They gave me much better car, did not want extra money. Customer service is very polite and professional. Thanks

Cons: The car was supposed to be a convertible but it only had a sunroof.
3.6 MediocreSep 5 2016
Pros: Rental specified a car from their "special" class and paying for, and i ended up with their cheapest car class despite the 100 buck difference between their cheapest A class and "Special". On-site the staff told me that their special division entailed a class A car, which is very misleading! So despite being a long term Gold Reward member i was not even given the courtesy to speak to their manager to sort this one out. Going back to Avis

Wrong car and unfriendly staffCons: Payed extra to get a convertible and then got "upgraded" to a dull station wagon which was not at all what I had payed extra for. Will just go for the cheapest car next time. Waited 45 mins at the counter because the staff was so busy. They don't seem to have workforce planning. On top of that the staff was unfriendly. Will avoid that company in future.
Discover the beauty of Sweden’s capital and make the most out of your trip to Stockholm by renting your own car. Don’t be dependent on public transport and taxis, which can be very expensive in Sweden. Gain the ultimate level of flexibility and seize the opportunity to see not only see everything in Stockholm, but also venture out into the Swedish countryside and witness breathtaking views and scenic routes.
Why wait to start your adventure? Get your rental car directly at Stockholm Arlanda International Airport and be in the city center in about 40 minutes via the E4. As the airport is over 21 miles from the city, it is much more convenient to pick it up from the many agency counters that can be found in the car rental area -- simply follow the signs. Rental cars can also be rented from Bromma Stockholm Airport.
Before driving in Stockholm, it is good to know a few things. First of all, headlights need to be switched on at all times, which is especially important in the winter, when it is primarily dark. On the road, public transport buses always have the right of way, as do pedestrians when crossing the road, so be careful and pay extra close attention.
Especially when visiting in the winter, it is imperative to ensure the car is properly equipped for the weather conditions. In Sweden there can be lots of snow and ice and winter tires are mandatory, so it is very likely the rental car has them already fitted on -- but always double-check. You should also reduce the speed and avoid sudden braking or accelerating. Rush hour is usually between 7:30 and 8:30 in the morning and 4:00 and 5:30 in the afternoon.

To brave the Swedish weather, it is a good idea to opt for a 4-wheel-drive car as it provides better traction. For driving inside the city, a sedan or SUV is a good choice, or even a smaller car if possible since Stockholm has some narrow roads and limited parking inside the center.
When driving through Stockholm, look out for posted signs on the right side of the road. Regulations usually permit 30 km/h (18 mph) in school zones and 50 km/h (31 mph) in built-up areas. Outside the city, up to 90 km/h (55 mph) can be driven and up to 120 km/h (74 mph) on highways. Naturally, in winter conditions, you will have to adjust your speed.
Gas prices in Europe are considerably higher than in the US, so bear that in mind when budgeting. However, as public transport and taxis can be expensive, too, the added convenience of a rental car makes it more than worth it. A liter of gas in Stockholm costs around 15 Krona ($1.62, or $6.48 per gallon) and, as is common in many gas stations in Europe, payment is often done after the refill, inside the station at the counter.
Designated street parking is metered in most places in Stockholm and varies in time restrictions and prices, so pay attention to the signs. There are also parking garages and lots available, as well as P+Rs dotted around the city, which are usually cheaper and well-connected to public transport.
