Top tips for renting a car in Zakynthos

• There aren’t many islands as breathtakingly beautiful as the Greek island of Zakynthos, and to make sure you can see every nook and cranny of this beloved holiday destination, get a rental car during your visit. From Shipwreck Beach, a remote and isolated beach in the northwest of the island, to the hip Laganas area in the south, there is plenty to explore on Zakynthos -- and everything is easier to reach with your own four wheels.
• Zakynthos Airport is 3 miles from Zakynthos city, about 6 miles from Laganas beach, and approximately an hour from the northern end of the island. To reach your next destination conveniently and without expensive cab rides, as there is no public bus operating, rent a car directly from one of their onsite agencies. Follow the signs to the rental car desks upon arrival and choose from a wide array of cars which can cruise you to every hidden beach on the island.
• There are very few road markings and traffic lights on Zakynthos, so bear that in mind and drive defensively and slowly. Zakynthos is also a popular holiday resort and, during the summer months, traffic can increase dramatically on the island. Especially around popular beaches like Laganas Beach or Zante city, cars can be clustered and there may be lines when entering the parking zones.
